Just the first Blue Windows Mobile screen. it doesn't even get to the HTY Logo Screen and then shuts off after a few minutes. Have i destroyed my phone?

Did you fix it?
Do you have the firmware update?

Did you find a firmware update for your Hantel HTY Q5? I need it for Windows 6.1.

As we dedicate here only to HTC devices you won´t get too much attention.
Better to try here:

Good luck,

You can try some of the Chinese forums, but be careful and read up on your model and make sure that you use the correct ROM, they make changes to hardware in the different generations of a phone model. Updating the ROM is straight forward, you put the ROM .img file in the ROOT of your TFlash Card, then when the phone is off push the center select button and then push the power button and the ROM will update from the TFlash. Good luck.
I own the hTY Q5 and I'm trying to snag a ROM from the Chinese sites but can't seem to register at any of them and none are in English.
We should petition the Admin of XDA to give us hTY owner our own section on this forum.

I need an English Rom for my HTY Q5 Windows 6.1

migoddard, first thing that you need to do is type in **168## on your phone dialer keypad. this will launch the HCIT Test program select Phone Info. Copy down the sting of numbers and letters you see there. Keep it for future reference. Next we need to determine which LCD screen your phone has, older models have the ILI LCD and newer models have the LG LCD. You cannot use a ROM for the LG LCD if your phone has the ILI LCD and a ROM for the ILI LCD cannot be used for the LG LCD. The drivers in the ROM .img file will not be correct for the LCD. Once you find out which LCD screen your phone has, you can check out some of the Chinese forums that have either Cooked ROMs and OEM ROMs. I have a WM6.1 ROM .img file for the LG LCD.
Appearently from what I have read over on the Chinese forums, upgrading your ROM is easy. Simply up the uploader.img file on an empty standard SD Tflash card turn off the phone put in the Tflash card, then hold down the select button (middle navagation button) and while holding push the power button. The phone will boot in bootloader then display "Updating ROM Image". Allow that to finish, phone will reboot with updated ROM. Make sure battery level is above 50%. before attempting ROM flash.

Help HTC Tilt Stuck in Android Kernel Switcheing Back Windows Mobile

Hello
I was switching to Android on my tilt.
Then I did the android kernel and then I couldn't proceed because I can't put any thing on my Micro SD card. Is there any way to switch back to windows mobile because I tried once to flash a windows mobile and is still stuck in android kernel.
Thanks
Switching Back To Windows Mobile
Switching back is very easy. All you gotta do is download your favorite WinMO rom, and rename RUU_Signed.nbh to KAISimg.nbh and place it on your SD card along with KAISDIAG.NBH.
Place the SD into your Kaiser and hold the Power button and camera button down, then take your stylus and hit the reset button. Follow the instructions on the screen to flash your Kaiser. When the flashing is done you should be back to running Windows Mobile.
Hello,
I was wondering if you have links to current Windows Mobile roms/nbh files? I've tried looking but I can't seem to find any. All I find are 6.5 and I want to convert back to my original 6.1.
I flashed Android (don't know what version) onto my Tilt and now the calls won't work, the battery life barely lasts me a couple hours (if not one) and the only thing that seems to work is texting.
Bottom line, I want to switch back to Windows Mobile 6.1. Any current links?

wm5 ROM for a bricked Cingular 8125 G4 Wizard

Good day.......
I am mailing out of real frustration.
I don't know if this is allowed.
I collected a cingular 8125 from a friend in the UK.
I noticed on starting up that there was Tmobile screen first before the windows mobile screen starts. I had no problem with the fone until i realised that i couldnt connect to my local networks GPRS service (who uses a phone that can't browse)
After scanning thru the site, i decided to flash the phone with Crasing's WM6.5 ROM after doing a HardSPL and i could browse and it was the perfect phone apart from the fact that it was real slow and hangs attimes.
It got worse so i got fed up and decided to revert it back to the original ROM and sort the browsing stuff with a network fix that someone on this site had told me.
I reverted the hardSPL and on installing the Tmobile ROM, it brought out an error message, tried with the Cingular ROM same thing.
So i tired reflashing by using a software called Flash Center and it started and stopped at the 1%.
Restarting my phone just shows me the bootloader screen and i have been battling it constantly for 3 weeks but to no avail
I have read almost all forums here, done almost all they ask to do, but nothing.
The only ROM that worked on it is the WIZARD love ROM but it using exactly 21mins to start up. Thot of downloading Faria/Molski WM5 ROM (cos i sorta prefer going back to WM5) but the links for their downloads are dead.
Please help/direct me to where i can see help cos i really need the phone like 2 weeks ago. I am most definitely depressed now.
Thanks.
Check here for all HTC Wizard WM5 OEM shipped ROMS. The one for Cingular is listed in there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Wizard_Windows_Mobile_5.0_Shipped_ROMs
You say the phone is a Cingular (G4 DOC version). Does it look like this one (click link ... http://www.brighthand.com/assets/4811.jpg ) with the Cingular logo on top left, etc?
Did you require the HardSPL to be able to flash to new ROM, or did you just use the SIM / CID unlocker using the Wizard Service Tool (note the Wizard Service Tool will only work for G3 DOC type device, not the G4 DOC devices)
You said you also removed the HardSPL. If you removed the HardSPL, then you can only flach the OEM ROMS (i.e., if yours is Cingular, then you can only flash the Cingular Stock ROM ... check link above and use Cingular 2.25 (click here ...
... http://www.4shared.com/file/BJUEhCC9/RUU_Wizard_Cingular_8125_WIZCN.html )
First do a battery pull, replace battery, then start device in bootloader mode (i.e., press and hold Camera button on side, then using the stylus press and release Reset button on same side. Do NOT power up the unit by trying to turn on using the Power button on top). Take note of IPL and SPL version that shows up on Bootloader (3 colour) screen. Then plug in USB and try re-flashing with Cingular OEM ROM.
After successful OEM ROM you can then try HardSPL again and re-flash to other ROMS. There are plenty of cooked WM5 and WM6.1 ROMS out there. The WM6.5 is too much (I think) for these devices. A neat clean simple WM5 or WM6.1 with overclocking works very good.
Regarding your settings for ISO, GPRS, WAP etc. you can look for a Netwrok Wizard cab file, and install ( heres the newest I could find ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=121023&d=1223800573). This will install 6 files into the root Windows directory of the phone. Reboot the phone and you will notice the Network Wizard icon show up in the Settings/Connection control panel.
One of the files it installs is called provision.zip. You will want to update this by copying the following to the windows directory overwriting the old one. This contains all the settings for your phone. Once you copy this over, click on the wizard in the Connection Settings control panel, and it should give you options for Country and Cell Phone carrier/provider. Click away and it shoould automatically set up the correct info for WAP, GPRS, ISP, MMS, etc.
Good Luck. Let me know what happens.
WOW
Thanks for the response
I used the HardSPL to flash the new ROM.
I removed the HardSPL and the Olip in my IPL was changed back to the 2.26.0001
I tried the cingular 2.25 ROM but it says it wasn't meant for the device and most times the RUU doesn't recognise the phone. Tried the Tmobile 2.26 same thing.
Also used crossbow WM5 AKU2.3 and AKU3.3 ROMs they worked but fails at 96%
The only ROMs that worked is Wizard Love ROM but it spends about 20mins to get to the part where it asks you to align screen and it doesn't move from there
Thanks for the info on the WM5/WM6 also the network wizard cab file. Really hope that phone works
I'm a pretty desperate guy right now cos i use the phone to trade and money is moving, she(money) is a *****

About the pix you reffered to? Yes thats exactly how my phone looks like
I had used the HardSPL to flash the new ROM.
I removed the HardSPL and the Olip in my IPL was changed back to the 2.26.0001, SPL 2.26.0001

PS: My IPL/SPL is 2.26.0001
OK. Good info.
Not sure how you did it but somehow you managed to get the T-Mobile IPL/SPL on it, and yet it still recognizes it is Cingular. For one reason or another one aspect does not let the other load and vice versa. ????? Hhhmmmnnn ????
Here is what I would try.
1) I have attached a zip file called SoftSPL. Inside I have made an image file nk.nbf, which contains ONLY the 2.25.0001 IPL and SPL for the Cingular 8125.
Unzip this folder to your Desktop and then try to run only the "newromupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe". Remember, start the phone up in bootloader mode, connect via USB then run the "newrom...exe" file. If you get an error right away saying this is not the right update utility for the phone or something like that, then start over ... i.e., disconnect phone, pull battery, start phone in bootloader mode, reconnect via USB, but this second time try using the one called "2.exe". I found sometimes when I flashed ROMS the first one did not work and the second one (2.exe) did for me.
IF this works, once you get the 2.25.0001 IPL and SPL showing on the bootloader screen then start again (pull battery etc. same as above) but then re-flash back to the original Cingular OEM 2.25 ROM that you tried earlier (the original RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1.exe). Try this and let me know how it goes.
If and when you get it back to the original Cingular ROM, if you get to this point, you can then start back like it was when phone was "new". It will still be SIM unlocked so you can use any carriers SIM card but you cannot flash other ROMs.
If you are going to try other ROMs, re-apply the HardSPL, but make sure you only use ROMs that have been cooked, say they are safe for G4 devices and do not have IPL/SPL in them. This means when you have it HardSPL'd you cannot, or should not use other carriers OEM ROM's such as T-Mobile 2.26 or 3.08.
Lastly, if you do like some of the "extra's" offered with WM6 or higher and do not like a slow phone and want to keep it fast like a WM5 ROM, then stick to either WM6.0 or WM6.1, clean (or what they call Vanilla) ROMs.
Good Luck. Give feedback of how it works out for you and pay attention to errors and messages and IPL/SPL etc. for reporting back and I can help you a little more.
Another thanks again.
I really owe you if and when my phone is finally done cos i think i am getting there.
But i successfully changed the IPL/SPL but on flashing the cingular ROM it says the RUU cannot see my phone and once it sees that it says the update utility cannot be used for my phone.
So what next?
Maybe the ROM is not the right one but i ensure it was meant for g4 tho"
Tried MUN-RUU but to no avail
Eagerly waiting your reply.
Thanks again
OK. YES. You are getting there.
You say the phone is now IPL/SPL 2.25.0001. It shows this on the 3 colour bootloader screen?
What did you run in order to flash; did you run the "newromupdateutility_wizard.exe", or "2.exe", or did you need to run the "START-sSPL.exe" to flash th nk.nbf file I made? (I don't think the "START-sSPL.exe" works from the bootloader screen...phone has to be booted to working status).
Here's what is next. I made a new nk.nbf which is the Cingular 2.25 OS, splash screens and 2.25 radio only. I removed the IPL/SPL and the Extended_ROM, and cooked this back to nk.nbf.
Download it from here .....
http://www.fileswap.com/dl/7WhstX82/nk.nbf.html
..... and copy this to the folder you made of the SoftSPL earlier (overwriting the other nk.nbf - you may want to save that as a back up)
Now try flashing this new nk.nbf again as you did for the IPL/SPL.
If it works, then let the phone boot up completely. Check it out. And then you can run the RUU for the original Cingular OEM once the phone is booted to get it back to Cingular OEM state (full IPL/SPL, OS, GSM, Extended_ROM, etc.)
From here (if you make it) then any further flashing of ROMs, you will want to flash G4 safe ROM's, and you can do this using the SoftSPL folder. Copy the nk.nbf from the custom ROM you want to flash into the SoftSPL folder and run the "START-sSPL.exe" with your phone connected (not in bootloader mode, has to be completely started up and recognized by ActiveSync, but you do not need to establish partnership ... just skip/cancel that part and phone will connect to ActiveSync as a "Guest").
Good Luck. Let me know how you make out with this.
Just to answer your questions.
I ran the "newromupdateutility_wizard.exe"
Would follow thy new instruction sire and get back to thee.....lol
Thanks again.
I am not here to say "Yipee, its done'
But rather to say that the universe, cingular and the god of communication might have just conspired against me.
Just when i think i would finally get my phone working after 3 weeks, a 2 yr old kid took my batteries and only God know where that batteries is now.
Tried to buy a new one but all i get is "Wow! that a pretty old uncommon phone here"
I intend to use an ac to dc converter and when i am done i would give you the feedback
Thanks
PS: Just wanted to give you the heads-up
So i found the battery early this a.m.
Flashed the phone with the ROM you uploaded and it was succesful but on starting it i get a green screen and its damn slow and doesn't even pass the spot where you are asked to align screen (i really do think that nothing happen and its still the Wizard Love ROM that its still booting into)
So I am still stuck?
Hmmm....
OK i guess there might be a psych diagnosis for what i am doing (posting excessive replies without any respond)
It just a worried person.
So i kept re-trying to flash the ROM on my phone about 2ce.
Then i noticed on the 2nd time at about 86% the phone seemed to restart itself into bootloader mode about 2-3X, so i thot the battery was running out. Decided to take it out and get it charged.
On plugging the battery back to the phone all i got was a white screen and starting it on bootloader mode OR hard-resetting still gives me that white screen. On removing the battery the phone flashes like once or twice.
Is this the end? The phone has brought an apocalypse on?
Been doing a lot of browsing for clues but nothing tangible yet.
God smiled on me and the phone started
Got the ROM you gave me flashed and its really refreshing to see the Windows Mobile logo again
But i am stuck at the align screen tho'
I tap and nothing happens unless i drag the target and it just moves around and get back to the original spot.
Thats the latest pal.
OOPS. I did not read all .... your posts ... I just answered your post at the end of the last page. Did not see these last 2.
This is a good sign that you get past the initial boot splash screens and make it to the Align Screen ... soft reset the phone again and look at the IPL SPL that shows on the screen. Is it 2.25.0001 or 2.26.0001?
If 2.25.0001 then let the phone boot up to the Align Screen (and if you cannot get past this then just leave it at this point). Plug back into computer and now try to flash Cingular OEM ROM 2.25 that you tried earlier using the stock file.
If this doesn't let you flash for the same reasons as before (i.e., Invalid RUU tool or Not correct operator) then extract the nk.nbf from the Stock Cingular ROM (right click on the Cingular RUU OEM exe and select "Extract here ...".) then copy the nk.nbf over to the Soft SPL folder and use the START-sSPL.exe and flash this way. (you can delete the rest of the files from the Extract process.
Good Luck. Let me know the IPL SPL you get.
I know my posts are getting sickening but i am really desperate.
Got some info about how to bypass the align screen online but couldn't get my phone to boot anymore.
Soft reset/Hard reset/Bootloader mode: All of it just shows a white screen and nothin more.
Any ideas?
PS:The last time i could start the phone the IPL/SPL was 2.25.0001.
Just want to add this cos i just noticed it:
1. Sometimes tapping the Camera button alone puts the phone on (tho' it shows that annoying white screen)
2. On connecting the phone to a PC the PC recognises it even tho' its off and once i put it on and that annoying white screen comes on, the PC gives the same sound as when a USB is detached.
Hope these info would help.
I"m really getting depressed now. Hope's looking dimmer.
OK. I am now suspecting that you may also have a battery problem. How old is the battery. Could be the battery no longer has enough capacity. It may charge but only hold a charge for very short time and voltage may be too low. Maybe enough power to keep some of the electronics "awake" but not enough to drive the LCD.
It is now IPL/SPL 2.25.0001 so it should be able to flash the Cingular OEM ROM. You may want to try a different battery. Other than this, if not a problem with the battery then I think maybe phone itself is coming to an end.
I would try the battery route, making sure you have a good power source, and then try to flash the stock Cingular ROM.
You can still get these batteries on ebay and phone as well. If you are going to spend any money then maybe instead consider a newer model phone on ebay. (if you are patient you can find very good deal ... I got the T-Mo MDA Vario version of the Wizard (WIZA200) for $25 plus shipping, brand new with a carrying case. It was an estate item from a salesman who passed away and phone was not used before he passed on. One man's misfortune, another man's luck. I am now selling this on ebay plus memory card and earphone here ... http://bit.ly/hDHxrW. I have two more on sale at ebay here... http://bit.ly/eV0zZh ... and here ... http://bit.ly/gLIiKh. I am selling 3 and I have upgraded to Touch Pro 2. Go with AT&T version as this can beused world wide on 3G in North America and is quad band GSM for use in rest of world)
WOW

I would change the batteries and really don't mind buying another one but the only problem is i am not in USA nor Canada except i give an address in the US to send it to.
PS: Got to the links and it was a bidding process that was over by the time i got there. If anything opens up you can holla at me.

Samsung Focus stuck on Omnia ROM

So let's start this thread by saying I was stupid.
In my desperation to upgrade my ROM I went and flashed my Focus with the new Omnia engineering rom. Stupid yes but it flashed. The reason I did it was non of the Samsung focus retail Roms would flash with the WP7 flashing tool not even the jK2 ROM. Which is suppose to be the basic 7004 ROM.
Every time I flashed it would say "This Rom does NOT match the device" or "this device is NOt retail."
So let me just state I had the "RTM Mango" flash on my device already flashed and worked. I was trying to upgrade the firmware and radio stacks. The phone aways worked and was NOT a demo device.
I have tried to flash:
1. jK2 stock Rom same error as above
2. Rom for v1.4 won't work same error as above
3. Rogers Rom on my AT&T focus same error as above.
Basically the only rom that flashed was the engineering rom for the Omnia.
Now the phone boots (with a Omnia splash screen ) I can get it to download mode I can even use the phone just none of the buttons work! I really just want to get a Samsung focus rom back on don't care if it's not Mango at the moment.
My questions:
1. Anyone got an engineering rom for the focus seems to be the only Roms that can load on my device
2. Anyone got some advise to get it back to a Samsung focus rom?
I know I shouldn't have but it's done and can't cry over spilt milk.....
I would really appreciate the help.
I'm not sure what you mean by Jk2's rom, but have you tried the 1.3 version, not rogers?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131022
this thread has rogers, att 1.4 and att 1.3, all for focus. Ive successfully flashed my 1.3 focus several times. Also, in this thread they talk about how flashing 1.4 is always iffy.
Best way to get back to a Focus ROM is probably to restore a backup that was taken when you upgraded the phone. I hope you can still connect the phone to the Zune software? If so, try that.
The Omnia has physical buttons, the Focus uses capacitive buttons only (for the front three). I'm not surprised the drivers are different.
Did you by any chance use a hack to get NoDo on the phone? The "debranding" hack shouldn't prevent flashing, but will result in you receiving a different ROM from the upgrade servers than was quite meant for your phone. Chris Walsh's update hack did not install the full set of update packages it should have, resulting in what has become known as a "Walshed" phone. Walshed phones, because they're kind of partway between updates, can't receive further updates. A tool was later released to fix a Walshed phone.
The fact that the Focus ROMs wouldn't flash but the Omnia onw would is quite odd; I'm not sure what would cause that.
If at all possible, I recommend restoring your phone to a retail configuration using a Zune backup, and them trying the official update path again. Only once you've exhausted your options there should you try anything else.

Firstly thank you for the time you took to reply.
Yes the history of this device is quite a lengthy one. I did do a NODO hack to get it to NODO. I then used the internal MS bits leaked to the net to force it to Mango. I was picking up some funnies like no matter how quick or soft I pressed the back button it would go into multi tasking making the phone impossible to use.
So I looked and researched and found my firmware, bootloaders etc were way out of date. I flashed the Omnia rom onto the Focus in hope that it was the same phone but alas its to late now......
Ok so when I connect it to the PC Zune picks it up all dandy but as a new phone - Omnia not my old focus. Is there a way to trick it into thinking its my Focus?
The phone functions in the sense that it boots, I can use it just don't have any buttons to use it with. All the screen functions work perfectly.
I will download Walsh tool to un Walsh the phone and try again...
I really appreciate the help!
I don't think you can "trick" it into seeing it as your Focus, because from a software perspective, it just isn't. However, the restore points (backups) are tied to the hardware, not the software. To see if you can restore one, first check in Window Explorer at the path %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\ and see how big the contents of that folder are. There should be hundreds of meg to a few gigs, depending on how big the backup is.
Now, that's only going to be the most recent restore point. If you made backups of your earlier restore points, you can send the phone even further back, hopefully to before quite so many things get messed up. However, each time you do an update with Zune it overwrites the location where the previous restore point was. Note that if you installed any updates through a mecanism other than Zune, for example usign the WPSHIFT tool that was used for the beta, it probably took a backup but might have put it in a different location (often in TEMP, which hopefully you haven't cleaned out).
If you have Volume Shadow Copies enabled on your PC (Vista/Win7/any recent Server), you may be able to use the Previous Versions feature to pull an older restore point than the most recent one, or to recover a restore point if it was deleted for some reason. Be careful, though - old shadow copies are deleted as space is needed for other things, but they aren't deleted atomically; it's possible you'll pull only half of an old restore point or something equally silly (they're made up of hundreds or thousands of small files).
Once you've got your restore point, I strongly recommend making a backup of it by copying the folder! Then, connect your phone and start Zune, and go to Settings -> Device -> Update. It'll probably say there aren't any updates available, that's fine. In the same part of the window where it says that, though, there should be an option to restore a backup (it'll give the date of the backup and a restore button). If that button isn't visible, re-copy the restore point over the location where Zune expected to find it (%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\), and check for updates again.
As for the un-Walshing tool, it probably won't do anything on your OmniaFocus. It may fix the problem if you successfully use a restore point (and get back to a pure Focus), though. There's a good chance that the last restore point you have will be from right before you began the Mango update process, in which case your phone will be back in its Walshed state, ready for un-Walshing using the tool.
I hope that helps. If you do decide to try flashing again (if you don't have a restore point, this is probably the only option), make sure you're using a ROM for your hardware revision of the Focus. There are two, the 1.3 revision (the first one released), and the 1.4 revision (released later, identical except it uses a different Flash memory chip internally and therefore has different drivers). If you bought your phone any time in 2011, it could be either a 1.3 or a 1.4. There are a few ways to check, but one of the best (since your software is currently messed up) is to look under the battery. There's a sticker that should say soemthing like "rev1.3/rev1.4". You need to match that revision number when selecting a ROM to flash, or (even if it works) you wouldn't be able to access the phone's internal storage.
It seems a little unlikely to me, but it's possible that Walshing your phone made it report itself as an Omnia, thus the reason you could flash that ROM (but not the Focus ones). I'd expect that to be based on lower-level hardware checks, though.

Thank you for the reply!
So looks like I am screwed. I looked for the backup and nothing on my machine even tried volume shadow copy and nothing in the Windows Phone Update folder.
I might have to try create a USB JIG to force a flash onto the phone. That should work right? That should flash which ever ROM I like regardless of the checks that things like WP7 Downloader do?
I would appreciate the guidance before I go ahead and build the USB JIG.
PS _ Anyone know what files are inside the backup folder maybe I can search windows for those and find the back up folder somewhere
The updates are usually stored here:
"C:\Users\%YOUR_USER%\Local Settings\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\"
Either search for a "RestorePoint" folder (without quotes) or "Data.0.dat" "Data.1.dat" etc files

THANKS so much I FOUND a backup C:\PreMangoState
This is when I did the Mango upgrade using the "MS internal leaked" files.
Going to try this.
I am going to suggest you try the engineering ROM for the Samsung Focus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045968

Any suggestions?

Have you tried the retail roms (check the general forum there is a sticky with the retail roms) if you getting the error "This device does not match with the selected binary" with the flasher it could be one of two things:
1. Your device is not an engineering device and you need to use the right retail rom.
2. Which version of the WP7 Downloader tool are you using 7.05, 7.21 or 7.41?
For the retail ROM you should use 7.05
For the engineering ROM you should use 7.41.
7.41 comes with the new leaked Samsung OMNIA 7 ROM (Do a search for that rom) DO NOT FLASH (like I did ) the OMNIA ROM onto your focus it will not work.
The other question is if your phone is stuck on the "SAMSUNG" screen can you get it into DOWNLOAD mode (Turn the phone off, then hold CAM + VOL DOWN and POWER) It should then turn on and go into DOWNLOAD MODE. The WP7 tool will only see the phone is in DOWNLOAD MODE. From what you telling us with the error above you are getting into DOWNLOAD MODE but just confirm.
IMO if you can still get into DOWNLOAD MODE not all is lost.
I already have flashed the omnia ROM onto my phone that is why I am in this problem. I have reflashed the focus ROm but it is frozen on the logo screen no matter what I do.
Seems like this engineering ROM fixed it for the lad who created this post, so I might give it a try, what do you think?
Yes I can get the phone into download mode & also the format mode (it doesn't do anything though), I cannot connect the phone to zune because it freezes on the logo screen before launch. Also I have 7.03, 7.05, & 7.21 and have tried all of them thus far, did not know of the 7.41.
So 7.41 and flash the engineering rom? It sounds like you have some ideas, please share it would be greatly apreciated.

Ok so you need to download the latest Samsung Omnia 7 ROM it will have the WP7 Downloader 4.21. Thats the only one that will flash the engineering ROM onto the device.
Zune will not pick up the phone till it completely boots so Zune wont help you in this case. You have to try and fix it using your WP7 downloader(s).
This is the link I used to get the Downloader: http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2011/10/15/update-your-samsung-omnia-7-to-the-latest-i8700xxki3-firmware-now/
Good luck!
Engineering ROM did not work, still frozen on samsung logo screen, something is definitely broken on the phone that will not let it get past this point and I have no idea. Seems like no one else knows either as no one has been able to solve this for over 7 months.
If anyone thinks they can solve this please suggestions are welcomed. If you need more details please let me know. If someone can fix this I'd be willing to paypal them real cash no joke.
Much thanks to myphonerules for helping!
If I call samsung and complain will they tell me i'm out of luck? I got the phone off ebay so its not covered by anything.

You sure you don't have a DEMO phone? Has it ever worked on a GSM network?
No its not a demo phone, i used the phone with my AT&T SIM card for few days. Then i put in a 32mb microsd card and after 24 hours it reset into a gimped mode with only 15 mb where i couldn't do anything and had no at&t apps on it strangly also. I flashed the samsung omnia 7 ROM onto the phone and would not load past the omnia 7 load screen. Then I flashed the focus ROM (it wasn't available originally) back and it would not load past the samsung screen. By this point I really just think the phone is completely done.
Any suggestions? or think its garbage?
I'm debating buying a focus with broken screen off ebay and using the screen from this one to replace it and bam pretty much new phone.
Is there a way to get a convert a non retail focus to retail? Is there a retail ROM available for the focus that can be flashed on the non retail version?

Only Logo - No flashing possible

Hello, I know, this question rather belongs to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
but since I had no intention to flash my phone and I also have not enough posts to reply to the other thread, I hope this forum might be the right one
(edit: sorry, somehow I managed to get even this wrong. I wanted to post in the LG Optimus 7 subforum )
I installed the most recent update, when my LG lost connection. I then removed the battery (duh!) and eventually it transformed to a pocket warmer (well, it got no other function than heating up ).
I tried all the things Microsoft recommended me (Phone recovery tool on different computers & different usb slots ).
But always the same message : Can't repair, contact service.
So I stumbled upon the flash thread. I managed to get my old winxp sp3 rolling and installed everything. After countless tries my phone was recognized and it was even successfully flashed - wait!
It shows 100% and then the emergency download screen disappears, it reboots and shows up the LG logo.
The same state as before. (I am also not able to shut it down, it keeps firing up itself)
I tried the format all keys (vol + - & pwr) but it doesn't accept this combination.
I tried the vol - key in emergency download, but it does nothing
So i downloaded the European firmware besides the German one (allthough the download I could find, only had ~170 MB)
Anyways, it had no effect. Still only the LG logo, nothing more, nothing less.
Zune only shows, I should contact service (like the support tool) and the phone itself only accepts the key combinations for connection mode, cold boot, emergency download + power off (although this is rather a reset function, 'cause it always restarts)
Is there anything I could try which might get Windows back on my LG (besides sending it back to manufacturer ) ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for any spelling / grammar mistakes I made
Hi friend,
you can take out the SUB board (the board which insert SIM card), then Power ON. If you can get in to Wellcome Screen. You can fix this problem.
==> The eMMC Toshiba IC got problem, try to re-solid it. i was do this way and my fone working again.
sorry about my English.

Nokia 1020 - Pulling my hair out doing recovery

HI everyone,
I'm tearing my hair out a little bit on this one.
Before people ask, I'm aware that Windows Mobile is effectively dead. I have no intention of using this device as an actual phone. I just want to try and use the camera in the phone with the app it was intended to use with.
I have picked up a Lumia 1020. On booting the phone, it seemed to be running a build of Windows Mobile 8.1. It seemed to be missing the full Nokia 1020 Camera app these phones were known for, having instead just the default Windows 8.1 camera app. Of note, a Telstra logo (being an Australian telco) was displayed on startup. I am unsure whether this is just branding or whether Telstra were able to get a custom version of the OS done for this device.
I was thinking the easiest solution is to try and reflash the original operating system that came with the device. This should restore all the original apps the phone came with, including the camera app I intend to use. I am absolutely tearing my hair out trying to get it to work.
The WIndows Device Recovery Tool detects the device and, while it complains that a reflash would install an older build of Windows, it does indeed download a copy and then begins the process. It starts to do the initial reboot, I would presume to put the phone into flash mode, and then gives me the error "The operation ended in failure".
I have obtained a copy of the WPInternals tool, which was a common alternative to do this, as well as a copy of the firmware for the device. This attempts to reboot the phone, and then fails with "Failed to reboot into flash mode".
I know it is a bit of a stretch to get this old phone working, however I do like the camera in it, and all I really want is to flash it with the original apps so I can get the proper camera app - the default Windows Mobile 8.1 just does not give me the full options. I'm not sure whether the fact that this has been branded by Telstra has anything to do with it, but if anyone has stumbled across something like this before and can offer any useful morsels of information, it would be appreciated.
Hi,
sorry for the late reply...
Search for thor2.exe on your computer, it is part of Windows Device Recovery Tool.
Have your Lumia ready, connect the USB cable only to your computer, open a command line window and change into the directory you found thor2.exe in.
Type
thor2 -mode rnd -uefitests -skip_com_scan
and connect your Lumia immediately. Normally thor2 detects it and brings it to the red flash screen. Eventually you will have to repeat this input (press the arrow-up key).
If you need to reset the Lumia ("pull battery"), press and hold the volume-down key and press the switch-on key until it comes to live again.
Hope that helps.
Best regards, Joachim
