Yeah me too.
Maybe because the new macbooks allow to use Windows on it.
And did you see the zune which was next to the macbook? Seems like it will be possible to synchronize it.
i paused it right when they showed the touch dual. here are my observations
1- they got rid of the fat top taskbar and made it a skinny status bar so it doesnt take up much space and still shows current status (time in the center, cant clearly see what are in the left and right corners)
2- ***stating the obvious** the bottom bar that we all have seen already with the center start orb and softkeys
3- they are still having the 6.5 style chome interface but updated with animated and expandable widgets for more ease of use and user friendliness
Since the G1 and now the mytouch both of which I flashed the Hero rom on, I just found my perfect business phone and this one could be a true Iphone killer and it has windows. I have not used a windows based phone since the dash and now the HD2 is making want to try it again. I live off outlook so that a plus but playing with the touchpro 2 I dont like some items, but like the Hero rich widgets, have you guys heard of anything?
Have you tried Androkidd 0.8, I installed it on my Pro2 yesterday and it seems good.

Cool, another Leo thread!
Since I posted this has there been any development on getting andriod on the HD2? Now that the Evo has come out I am hoping the process has been helped?

The developers have finally overcome the segfaults which previously prevented the Linux kernel from booting fully, meaning that Linux can boot fully, and Android is possible. However, the touch screen doesn't have any Linux drivers, meaning that until someone develops a touch screen driver from scratch, that Android (or any other Linux userland) is unusable without a USB keyboard/mouse plugged in .
The EVO 4G seems similar to the HD2, and it is reasonable to think that it may help in development of Android for the HD2, but it's actually quite the opposite. The hardware used in the HD2 is much different than that in the EVO. Besides the common appearance, the two devices are completely independent of one another, and the developers are mostly on their own. Just a small word of advice: don't ever buy a phone because of features that have yet to be developed, as there is absolutely no guarantee that Android/Linux will ever work fully on the HD2.
Leo is a great device, and it´s not outdated as it has the same or even more power than some newer devices.
WM is doing well on it because it´s fast processor
I agree withthe above poster. I think HD2 and WM have years left. Right now its the only phone I can do everything I want with, except HULU, which I firmly beleive will come. Heres what Android or iOS4 or WP7 will have to do out of the box for me to give up WM6.5
1. Play nice with my hava box for live TV.
2. Emulate PS1 game flawlessly
3. Play the PS1 games with a wireless PS3 controller.
4. Play any kind of video in existance thats under 2GB in file size with no frame dropping or quality loss.
5. Word, and Excel
6. a FTP program
7. Cut, copy, paste, and open with...
8. Streaming radio and play, OGG's, AAC, and other off brand codecs
These are my main concerns when I hear about WP7 coming. I fear we may loose all the killer software that has been build the last 5 years. Hopefully WP7 will have a compatability mode. LOL

Because we are the minority. those lovely features you speak of wont be present in most phone os going forward. Apple has shown that dumb down super simple phones are the way to go. btw I dont mean dumb down in the sense that they suck. What I mean is, we as a community are use to having free reign on what we do with our phones. The average user will do more harm than good with these features. With great power comes great responsiblity.
I like android! I havent seen a single thing that it cant do. Infact because of people like cyanogen its grown at record breaking speeds to be come a contender.
One of the best things about android is I have been able to install albeit modified versions of android on my g1 and my friends droid.
Now hes currently running froyo before motorola even has a chance to update it.
Thanks for the posts....I am using my Gen 1 Mytouch and while I like it a lot, its starting to be to slow for me.
I think the reason why I won't to windows is that I like the Andriod market a lot, being able to get a program , etc
But I am a windows guy on my laptop running outlook, office, etc and I am thinking it would be better for my business to switch to WM?
Maybe I need to research the market to see what I can get
Come on in the waters fine! With the snapdragon wimo 6.5 really pops. Its equal to or greater then ios4 or android. Once you get cookiemonsters app up, everyone at your work will be jelous of your phone. From comparing my multiple wimo phones with friend iphones and droid phones I can easily say once my rom is selected and phone is tweaked its actually much more stable then the other phones.
Now i know that what i am about to post is not an android device. What is interesting about these apps showcased in the link below is that they are so fluid, beautiful and fun! I know that honeycomb is coming and all, but these blackberry apps produced by TAT are awesome.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Firs...esign-firm-TAT-appear-on-the-PlayBook_id16898
What are the chances that a blakcberry app is ported to Android? Not sure of the processing differences between the playbook and our tab, but i hear the playbook is a beast for processing!
Cheers

Nice! Even better presentation than the official one released yesterday.
I really like it. I've seen MS are getting some stick for it on some of the blog sites comments, but I think it's awesome.
I love the idea of the iPad - it's a touch friendly tablet. I don't like that it's a mobile OS.
So this ticks all the boxes:
1. It's a full powered OS
2. It can run properly on a tablet (with ARM support)
3. It's designed for touch - WP7 interface.
4. But it also has a "real" (i.e. Windows 7) interface as well, for those times you might want to put it on a desk and whack a keyboard and mouse with it.
Looks great and makes me thankful I didn't buy an iPad 2 or an Android tablet. Just wish it'd be out quicker lol.
Casey
Looks sweet. If they can tailor the "desktop" experience a little bit more towards touch I think I'll be sold on a tablet.

From what I've been able to read so far since the unveiling, it sounds like Microsoft is going to push the new interface as the default, and the old Win7 interface only for legacy apps. In other words, they want the WP7-like tile interface to be the Windows standard on all devices - phones, tablets, notebooks, and desktop PCs. For example, it is being designed to work in both a touch and keyboard/mouse environment. And, they are going to push for new versions of major 3rd party apps to be written to use the new interface, and not work with the old.
Whether they will succeed remains to be seen, but based on my WP7 user experience over the past 6 months, I think it just might work.

They definitely need a metro skin option for the desktop experience--if I'm using this new touch interface, I don't ever want to see the aero design clashing with it. Beyond that obvious gripe, I love it.
I will buy it on Day 1 of its release.
I like it. Just wondering if homescreen will have wallpapers or Start screen is actual homescreen...
It's too early to tell (much could change over the next year), but it looked like the Start screen is the home screen, at least in terms of it being the screen that will appear when you boot/log in to your PC. The current Windows 7 desktop will be more of an "app" that loads when needed.
I think you can change which one it goes to by default. Almost positive but I will try to find a verification.
Don't see how this pertains to windows "phone". As it totally looks like Media Center on crack. Laggy as hell, dont know if it was the video, or the person holding the camera. Jerk, jerk, jerk. Maybe I need to see another video.
I like the touch screen windows 7 by HP, with HPs touch friendly design on top, looked good and performs great.
Is this windows 8 or just the tablet OS?
It is Windows 8. Although one obvious application for it will be tablets, it is going to be the same OS on tablets, laptops, and desktops.
Although this was an early build (given that the OS won't be released until next year), there was zero lag in the demo. Any problems you saw were the fault of the person recording the video. I've seen about 8 other videos, and they are all just as smooth as the WP7 start screen.
As far as this not pertaining to Windows Phone, on one hand I agree, but on the other, it pertains very much. After watching the videos a few more times, I think this could create quite a bit of interest in WP7, thanks to the nearly identical UI.

Think it's Windows 8 for all PC's. At the end they mention something to that end. Not sure how it'd work when most PC's don't have touch screens & those that do are mostly the wannabe Laptop, all-in-one PoS's that are way over priced compared to a normal desktop. Would be nice if they started mass producing regular monitor with touch screen including the ultra high end like the 30" that supports 2560 x 1600 resolution.

And Windows 8 and the tablet OS are one and the same. Its the same thing on tablets as it is on desktops, with slight variances on how it interacts based on the device.

Does HP make a Windows 7 tablet?
I believe hp is committed to webos on all their toys. The only thing that holds me back from a tab is developing compatibility. I would love have a windows 8 tab as long as it has usb ports. Port for flashing a phone via executable file or using command prompts for rooting purposes. Then I would be able to give my kids my laptop. I haven't checked out the videos yet, but I will.

Its not a tablet. Touch screen desktop.
Good day guys!
I've always used a laptop as my main PC, mainly because I can bring it to university, now I would like to build a desktop and would like to use a tablet to connect remotely to my new desktop and type any notes of documents directly on my PC.
As I would be taking notes/writing documents, it would be necessary to have a keyboard dock, I'm not too sure how the thing with docks work, if only some tablets can have them or if there are universal docks.
Additionally, it would be great if the tablet could play Full HD, or 720p at the very least
Price limit could be up to $500.
Thank you very much for your help everyone!
P.S.: One more thing, separately from the hardware, what is the best app available to do remote connection?

$500 + tax? lol well here we go, You didn't ask for screen size so I'll give some 7 in ones too.
All tablets have an HD resolution, but the only one that has Full HD is the Prime Infinity. To be honest each one has a great screen. Some tablets come with a dock that's is meant for them (Asus Transformer Prime and Galaxy Note 10.1) but each tablet also can be paired with a Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse if you want. Also you can use a USB input dongle with the Note and Prime so that you can use a regular keyboard too (kind silly though =D).

Best Remote connection app is TeamViewer 7 Here's the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.teamviewer.market.mobile&hl=en, and here's the program you install on your PC http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows.aspx.
For me it works pretty much with lag doing light task. So typing and make notes should be a breeze. However, you may experience lag if you are trying to watch a movie on it. I got lag when I tried it out, but I think it is because the GPU on my device (Galaxy Player 4.0) is not powerful enough. These device either have Mali-MP 400, Tegra 3 or Tegra 2 which are far superior. So I hope this helps you, and if you want I try and post reviews of each device.
Wow! Thanks a lot! I wasn't expecting such a detailed response!
From the suggestions you gave me I had been looking at the first three, the other two look really good too! I had been leaning mostly towards the Asus, although the Note also looks tempting, I'll have to do some thinking.
I've also had the galaxy tab on my watch, but it looks like the Asus is better.
Thank you!

Lol yeah. But it isn't like super customized. I just use Go Launcher EX, and tweaked some of the objects using their theme maker. It took a while to find the images though, and I had to photoshop many of them, but it came out well.

Wow! Awesome! I think I'll work on my own theme when I get my tablet!
You can get a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 refurbished on Amazon for $340. This is what i use, it has amazing battery life and a very clear screen! If you remote connect to your desktop it will waste a bunch of battery, but what you can do is type your notes on your tablet and sync them with Dropbox so they will automatically be shared with your desktop. Dropbox is AMAZING! I highly recommend it if you haven't checked it out!
