[Q] Please let me know about deleting app from root explore! - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

I have t mobile tab root from z4root and root explorer is also loaded. I deleted apk file of asphalt app from the system folder. Are there any more files should i need to delete? Please let me know.
Thanks,

Why would you need to delete the asphalt game apk?

The game was not working and I thought there is a conflict with demo version. Therefore I deleted it but still the app not working any advice?

I would only detete actual application files or widget files associated with the app you no longer want. (example twitter, twitter widget). If you mess with the other files, you could mess up your ROM.

You should have to just use the app manager... if you just start deleteing stuff you'll get a corrupted ROM, and in the worst case scenario you'll need to reflash the ROM to get things in working order again....
Also, for next time if you open a thread, try to aks first like this: "which files should I delete to make asphalt works for me?" or I've got some problems with asphalt, can anyone help me with it? not just stating the fact I've deleted some files...if you are unsure what to do ask first.

Angry Birds save location (one more time...)

Apologies - I know this has been asked before but my problem is a bit different:
... a couple of days ago I had a crash and had to reinstall ROM. Everything was fine, but upon trying to restore Angry Birds (yes, again...) I can't for the life of it make it work. Supposedly the AB data folder is in /sdcard/data/data. However, after installing AB, playing one level and checking, there's nothing there!!! If I restore the data with QtADB the game exits before it loads...
Any ideas? Where on earth should I place my data before my gf kills me?
Thanks...
The savegame file is "highscores.lua", it should be placed in "/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files".
You can't explore the "/data/data" folder with a common file manager. You need Root manager or something like that (or ADB's shell).
Do not forget to set the file's permission for read/write.
Apologies - forgot to say that I have a fully rooted phone and am using ES explorer. But, for some reason, as I said, /data/data is totally empty, and that's why I'm at a loss... And when I copy my previous AN backup folder into /data/data (including, of course, highscores.lua) the game crashes before it loads.
If I empty the folder again it runs fine, so it must be drawing data from some other folder??
Noone has any idea?
Smells like a full wipe, dammit...
ES File Explorer can't browse directories that require root afaik. You'll need one that can such as Root Explorer.
EDIT: Looks like ES does have root. You need to enable it in settings, under Root options.

I can navigate everywhere on both the mob's internal memory and the SDcard, so I guess it does have root support
On the other hand, /data/data doesn't seem to need root anyhow, but I do have access. The problem persists - AB *must* be pulling data from someplace else
removed

Nope, it's /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds, as has already been mentioned. If /data/data/ is empty for you, your file explorer does not have read access to it, as this is where all apps store data.

If a file explored doesn't have read access to a folder it can't even enter the folder, no?. Also, other folders under /data are populated. Finally, as I've mentioned I *can copy* an older backup (either through QtADB or manually, with ESExplorer) but then the game crashes.
[EDIT]Anyhow, I'm getting some weird crashes. Something is definitely wrong with the phone, so I'm doing a full wipe and will check later and get back to you...
Thanks for trying to help
What about the new amazon app store ad free version? Will I have to start from scratch?
I'll pay 99 cents to have ad free, but don't want to have to start all over.

That's a good question. I would assume it would install slightly differently versus the Android Market version as it would have to associate itself with Amazon meaning you would have to start over.

That would suck. Guess I'll wait and see if anyone can confirm or deny.
I did get rio, which is ad free and runs so much smoother on my underpowered aria.
someone told me ... and i also can confirm it does not erase your progress. it overwites the current version and saves data.
it tells u this when u install
nice!

[Q] Lost Android Market!!

I have a Motorola Photon, and I had tried to get the old Market backet back with a process I found in the forum. It didn't work, and somewhere along the line I lost the Market all together. I tried wiping the phone back to factory and the Market app did not come back. I tried to just install a version from 4Shared, but still doesn't work with any version I install. It says that "com.android.vending has quit unexpectedly" and then it FC's. It only seems to do this when I go to download an app. I can browse and search fine with no problems, just no downloading!! I admit I'm a noob, and probably messed with something I shouldn't, but I figured this would be a nondestructive thing to learn on. Man was I wrong!! This sucks...please help me!!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Yes...I was rooted but no custom rom. I don't know how to do that yet. This is going to sound stupid, but what exactly is a custom rom? After I wiped to factory condition I tried to install a vending.apk from 4shared and that still gives me same error. I will uninstall again and try a market.apk now. Is that the same as vending.apk?
A factory reset will only delete user data, it won't put back something that has been removed. You need to get the vending apk for the version you want and instead of installing it normally put it in /system/app. You can do so using Root Explorer or another root level file explorer. If you don't have one installed, I can post the apk of a free one for you. Mount system as r/w and copy/paste the apk into /system/app, then set permissions to rw-r--r--, then reboot. You should have your market back up & running.

That's what I originally tried to do and didn't work, but I will try it again...If you could post an apk of the market you know is good that would be great. Can u post an apk of a root explorer also? I havent checked 4shared yet. Is there another free download service other than 4shared? Thanks for your help!!
Just download Market and install it. If it FC then check the permissions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231290
(It's the new market btw. I know you don't want it, but you don't really have a choice at the moment)
Ok so this is weird!! I left the Market that wasn't working installed by mistake. I installed the OTA update that Motorola did, and then re-rooted my phone again. Now the Market is working for the most part!!! Only thing is...it FC's every time iot installs an app. It downloads and installs, but right after it installs it FC's!! It doesn't always close all the way...sometimes just goes to Market home screen. All the functionality seems to be working though, so I can deal with that.
Does anybody know why after the OTA update I can only get EDGE instead of 3G on a Rogers SIM card?
Did you clear Google Services Framework data and Market data?

Actually u have to integrate/connect them with market. Use tit backup app. Long press on app that u want to link with market. Then choose 'attatch to market (forced)' option. Its so simple.

few are normal apps, few are the cracked ones.
better not try with anything cracked.
when you install an app from your computer in apk format, you should also be connected to wireless, in case something else gets installed at that time and stored in the apps files. most likely ripping an app from system or data will cause it to not have something the creator intended, which is why tying it to the market doesn't work... if you want to check for updates, then check for updates. if there's a more recent version, try installing the update over the old one. if it doesn't work, then copy all of the app data manually (go to /data and copy the folders for that app), then install the updated app, open it, close it, then replace all data with the one you copied.

oh okay.
Anyway mate, the Titanium backup method works.
It doesn't show the apps in my MY APPS in the market, but we can watch/update them from Titanium backup itself.
Thanks anyway.

How to install gingerbread stock camera or MIUI camera app on ICS stock ROM ?

Hello
Tried install both of these on stock ICS and checked "unknown source" , didn't allow me ...
Can I do it using CWMR ?
Thanks
im not sure if this will work but its worth a shot.
when youre in the rom that you want a system application from get the app called "system app backup" i believe cm made it but dont quote me. Then backup the app you want and save it to your sd card. after copy it to your computer and install the rom you want to have on your phone, once again install system app backup on your phone and recover the app you would like to have on your system.
the only thing that i have done close to this is replace the stock launcher.apk with "launcher 7".
always remember to backup, and if this works let me know!

You might have luck with the MIUI camera but the GB one is most likely a no go (all kinds of changes in ICS that should prevent GB system apps from working). If you really want to try it then you can use a file explorer with super user permissions (estrongs or root explorer come to mind) and move the .apk to /system/app and change the permissions to match other system apps.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but in case someone actually stumbles on it, here is the answer.. this should be easy. If you can get apktools working on your computer(google is your friend) you decompile the app you want, along with the app it would be in conflict with. The android system has a list of SYSTEM apps that are able to use the same features.. anyways, once you decompile both apks, copy the manifest.xml and meta-info folder(and contained folder) from the built in app(in this case the ICS camera) into the decompiled app you want to install(gingerbread camera), then you recompile the one you want to add(you can just leave the original app installed and delete the one you decompiled). Make sure you give the gingerbread app a different name, and it will work. Literally, I just tested it(it is that quick and easy once you have apktools setup), and it seems to install/work just fine.
Some FEATURES of the app might not work- like you may not be able to preview the pictures you take with it in the system gallery, but all the settings and whatnot of the actual camera app should be built into the apk itself-- besides 4.0.3+ has app associations, you may be able to use that to get some features working by making it your default camera..
Anyways, pretty sure that would help- good luck.
want ideas

[Q] Saving game progress (full unlock)

Well... You could use an app that tells the game's name and its id (i.e. 1ccc6b7a-4985-4eb9- etc etc), like app Siege.
Since this id is also the directory's name, you could use a file explorer (i.e. wPhoExplorer) to loo into it (you will find it in \Applications\Data\1ccc6b7a- etc etc).
I think that the progress should be stored their.
Then you can use a backup application like WPV App Data Backup and you should get back your progress.
I have to be honest: each time I changed a new custom ROM, I never got back my Bug village progress....... Don't know wether this backup works only for sideload app or not...

But about that game, each time I started again from zero...
I just had a look to Bug village directory and, in its root direcotry, I found the following 4 files with two dates 08/04/2012: they're gameset.dat, _ApplicationSettings, save.dat, questSave.dat...
I leave the word someone who is deeper than me into WP7...
I managed to completely restore my progress in feed me oil using Isolated Storage Explorer..

use wmdc launch from ultrashot...you'll be able to browse your device isolated storages and backup all your games progressions & app settings
& use appSiege to find particular xap IDs (copying everything from iso.storage is simply useless...)
