Bubbles under screen protector - G Tablet General

I just bought the G Tablet from Sears at lunch. Came home, opened the box and noticed bubbles underneath the screen protector. No biggie I thought since it's only to protect the screen during shipping/packaging. After 4 hours waiting for it to charge, I play with it. Take off the packaging screen protector.
There are bubbles underneath the main screen protector. Found some comments on the interwebs. Peeled off that protector and got out most of the bubbles but some small bubbles remain. Also there are rings of the outlines of where the initial bubbles were. Called him desk. I told them that i re-applied the screen protector and there are rings, etc. Asked if I could just remove the screen protector.
They said no because the glass will easily scratch. Guess it's not made of gorilla glass. Oh well, looks like I'm taking it back. Can't decide if I'm going to exchange for another one or just wait till the other more polished Tegra 2 android tablets are released.
Thoughts?

LOL, just take the screen protector off man. I had bubbles under my too, I took it off when I first got the G Tab.
The screens get greasy easily, but they don't scratch easily. You don't put it in your pocket like a cell phone so no keys, no change, etc. Just remove it and don't worry. That's no reason to return a tablet.

I experienced the same thing, and it is very frustrating. However, I'm not sold on returning it yet. The protector itself is easy to remove and reapply; it uses static to hold on so there isn't any adhesive and you can remove/reattach as many times as necessary. The only problem (and my current problem) is dirt on the screen protector. I took it off to reapply, but then got some dust in the few moments it took me to reapply it. So I removed it, washed it in warm soapy water till it was all shiny and new, but then hit the hard part of how am I supposed to dry this thing? I tried a towel, left lint. Tried a blowdryer, left little dried bubbles. So now I guess I'll try air drying it.
But I wouldn't return it just yet, but that's just me.

There might be dirt under the sticky side of the protector, I've used tape to clean out dust particles or lint that's stuck under the screen protector.

when you guys took off the initial screen plastic was there a bit less glare?

screen protectors

Need some expert help here! I’ve tried out 3 to 4 different screen protector companies for my HTC HD but they all leave these nasty bubbles and make the screen fuzzy. Can someone please tell me the brand they’re using if they DO NOT have this weird bubble problem…Thanks!
Get martin fields screen protector. It will not leave bubbles as long as there's no dust trapped.
HTML:
http://www.overlayplus.com/US/index.asp
Stylus glide on it smoothly.
Invisible Shield. All the bubbles even out overnight. Doesn't scratch or smudge.
I use Brando Workshop's CLEAR screen protectors. I had tried all of them, even the the ones mentioned above, but none can compare to Brando's accuracy as to screen specification size. The rest are either small and still leave enough space on the sides uncovered, I guess they made it that way to ease replacement or to easily peel it off. But you don't change your screen protector every month, so to me that extra small uncovered space is unacceptable risk of dust going on the sides.
I use scotch tape to get rid of dust prior to applying the screen protector. I use scotch tape on both the screen and the part of the screen protector prior to application. You have to make sure you stick one side first and let it glide to the other side. FLOPPING any screen protector on top of the screen, no matter what brand will leave bubbles.
Yes, if there is dust on the device you can use some tape (which is not too sticky!) to remove the dust. Also try one of those cloths you get with some stuff to remove finger prints. Those seem to be good as well for removing the first dusts.
However, for your next device do this:
Don't take off the protective cover (of the screen) before you get your protector. This way you are sure there is no dust.
Also, when you get your screen protector don't take that off the protective thingy as well!
Go to your bathroom and turn on the shower (leave device in other room for now ). So the shower is filled with steam. This will remove most of the dust inside of your bathroom. So you turn off the shower and while there is just some steam left you go get your device and apply the protector.
Everything has to be done as quick as possible so the chance of dust is reduced to a minimum. Also try and practice a bit with all the protective stuff on just to see how it should fit.
I use this 'technique' with all of my new phones in combination with a Brando screenprotector and it works like a charm! Guess other brands will do just fine as well.
And as the previous poster said, don't just flop it on. Work from one side to another, e.g. from top to bottom. While you rub the protector on the screen. But that you'll have to testrun a few times (with all protective stuff still on) so you get a good idea how to get it right in one try. One try is always best if you succeed .
I hate those bubbles too! Someone suggested purplemoo but it had the same problem. Then I tried navprotector.com, a smaller company I found on eBay. So far it’s working like a charm – no bubbles even after 6 months!

SOS! Ultra Crystal Screen protector adhesion too strong, won't come off!

I received my screen protector today and proceeded to use the steamy bathroom method to put it on. No good, dust was still flying around like crazy. I had my screen going on but half way through a gigantic piece of dust flew under the screen. Using the provided stickers i tried to sticky it away... it added more dust. I accidentally dropped the second half the protector and now the entire thing is stuck on my screen and I can't remove it for the life of me. I'm getting really frustrated right now... anybody know how i can easily remove the screen protector?
Try to slide something thin under the protector that is unable to scratch your phone. Like a part of the plastic film that came with the protector. Once you get under there you'll be able to get it off.
Good luck
Use a toothpick to pry it open if you havent already...
Get some fat sellotape or packaging tape & apply it to a corner on the face of the screen protector, then gently lift the tape & screen protector away from the phones screen.
Watch this for how to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ96FLK_UTc&feature=youtube_gdata_player,
honestly it worked for me.

hmm.. try Goo Gone??
wow thats one strong adhesive you got on that piece of protector!! ive done several installs for my friends and i never made a perfect one had to use the provided stickers to get some dust out and realign it.. never had issue from pulling it apart.. probably the steam added more to the adhesion ? just like water in the middle of 2 sheets of glass..
I had the exact same issue and ended up wasting the 2 protectors i boutght from ebay.
I tried to use every tape I could find at home and then ended up using some strong sctoch clear packaging tape and I actully tried more then 20 times (no joke) and ended up taping the whole screen protector to be able to remove it.
I ended up using a anti glare one I bought from a local shop and the install was much easier but quality not the same at all.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up using a cardboard card (the tags from clothes) and slid it against the edge of the protector till I got enough force to push up the protector. It seems the rigidity of the ultra crystal protector makes it much harder to take off.

Screen Protector or not?

Hey all,
Today i removed my InvisibleShield after i got a replacment of it in mail.
When i removed it and touched the screen, it was amazing !
No finger prints with crazy smooth feeling !!!
What do you think about the gorila screen? someone here is working the the phone without a screen protector?
Thanks
Hard to say. In theory is should be fine but here are some links that may help you decide;

Get a screen protector.
As soon as I got my i9000 I bought a soft case for it. The case had a small ceramic ball as a fastening, and after 1 week of use this ball created a nice big scratch down the middle of the screen.
I've got a Martin Fields screen protector now, it doesn't feel as good on your fingers but at least it's protected, and it's covered up the scratch.
I do not use a protector. The surface is hard glass, and I'm careful to put it in a pocket that contains no other items.
Protectors make more sense for plastic screens.
It is a personal preference; I suppose the chrome plastic edge will be worn before the glass gets scratched.
When I got my iphone I put a screen protector on it right away. After a while it needed to be replaced so I took it off, only to never get around to putting it back on. Needless to say it went without for months and not s single scratch.
I have had my Galaxy for four months now without a screen protector and so far so good. It still looks perfect. I am however vigilant at keeping it away from change or keys while in my pocket.
I have used two different Galaxy S's with protectors (don't know which brand though) and both really took away from the quality of the screen.
Bought a screen protector the other day and it felt sticky i should say prefer without but if you have a 4" super amoled screen you might wanna protect it
I prefer using protector. It's no harm for me and gives extra protection.
At first it was sticky, but not so sticky anymore, or I just got used to it.
I'm using InvisibleShield.
Tried both cause a couple of my first screen protectors were getting air pockets. Ordered a new one, but during the mean time I used it without a protector.
I personally find either works. As long as you have a decent case to prevent the screen from cracking if it falls on the side it should definitely be fine.
If you handle your SGS carefully there`s no need for a protector. But try to seperate it from scratchy things... in your pocket...
I would get one !
I learned the hard way and now have a good scratch on my screen.
Definitely should put one
it helps protect the screen, even though the screen was supposed to be indestructible as they advertise, it is not
many people have used it normally, although it might not break, you can still get annoying scratches if you keep them in the same pocket where you stick your house/car keys in
Have been using it without a protector for about six months now it has no scratches. Some times I forget and put it in the same pocket as my keys but even then I have had no scratches on it.
Im getting one.
Its scratch proof, not scratch resistant.

Correction, it's scratch resistant.
After a while you will see micro scratches on the screen when held up to the light. Use a screen protector.

Same here after I removed it no more fingerprints.
I'm very happy without screen portector.
I would preffer a little scratch instead of dirty fingers all the time an due to that bad vision.
My Brando ultraclear was scratched within one week and I asked for replacement.
The replacement is still waiting, it think I never wil use it.
i used screenprotectors years ago when I got the freshly released OmniaHD GT-i8910. I removed it later and didn't miss it until today I have never got any scratches in my smartphones.
I have had a screen protector on my Galaxy since day 1 and would recommend them to anyone. I doubt very much that they are actually scratch resistant and if left unprotected then I'm sure they will eventually scratch. The Titanic was unsinkable and look what happened to that!
im in charge of about 70 mobile phones. at first I suggested people get them, but after a while in became very clear that they are more of a fad of sorts. sure the reduce wear and tear, but not enough to be worth the cost or hassel. Only twice now have saved a phone... both palm pres... go fig

I have a gadgetshieldz protector on front and back. Not as sticky as the invisible shield and very clear. I used a glare reducing one on my O2 - waste of a pretty screen
I put one on but after awhile dust and stuff just built up where the screen protector wasn't covering (sensors and camera usually) and it just got annoying, I've dropped this thing flat on it's screen and it's not scratched so I figured I didn't need one.

Screen Protector Application

So I'm on my third screen protector. I bought a cheap $5 3 pack off Amazon and I wasted the first two, to many bubbles and couldn't get them allighned perfectly. Got it okay on third try but they were junk screen protectors.
I bought a Spigen GLAS.tR the other day. Attempted to apply it. I followed the instructions but would misalign the protector and finally by the time I got it right there ended up being a few dust specs under it. Attempted to peel it up and fix it but just made it worse and had to toss the expensive protector...
Tried a third cheap one that came with my battery kit. Got it on aligned but I have tons of bubbles on it.
I've read the instructions a billion times over and followed them as best I could, watching countless youtube videos on how to apply them but I still fail. Any tips on applying the protectors?? Im ordering another Spigen and giving it another go since it seems to be the #1 for glass covers for our phone.
You can wash the glass screen protector. Ive had mine washed twice and everything is fine

Do the whole process under very good lighting. I take a microfiber cloth and wipe the screen very gently. Sometimes dust or other particles will remain on the screen, so I have a can of compressed air handy to blow away any remaining dust. Then I wash my hands thoroughly and just shake them til they're dry. I peel off the backing, not all the way, but only enough for the screen protector to catch onto the bottom. Once it looks aligned properly, I apply it slowly, smoothing away any air bubbles while I apply the screen protector and peel the backing at the same time. All in all, the key is patience. Hope this helps.
The best application advice I have gotten is to first line up the protector and once it's aligned apply 3 strips of Scotch tape to one long edge of the phone. Think of it as a hinge. Now wipe off all the dust on your screen, peel off the backing on the protector and lay onto screen. Since it's already taped down, it will be perfectly aligned. I've applied 3 ultra crystals this way and all 3 are perfectly aligned, which would have been very difficult because the cutouts don't leave much room for error.

Wash hands with dishsoap, wear dust-free clothing
I've applied screen protectors to many phones in the past and I've learned a lot about the process. My current S4 has a screen protector on it which has been applied *flawlessly*. Not a single bubble or imperfection in alignment. Here's some tips:
Wash your hands with dish soap: Regular hand/body soaps have oils/lotion that will have you leaving fingerprints on everything. Dish soap, on the other hand is made to wash away such things. Try this as a test: Clean your screen real good, wash with dish soap, and then see if your fingers leave fingerprints when touching the screen--they won't! This won't last long though--your fingers will re-oil themselves within a few minutes.
Turn off any nearby fans: Fans recirculate the dust that naturally exists in the air all around us--especially *your* dusty house (you slob!). Turn them off and wait at least 10 minutes before attempting to apply your screen protector.
You need GOOD lighting: Seriously... You're not going to notice tiny dust particles threatening your perfect application if you can't see them.
Wash your face. Wash it good! Everyone's face/arms are constantly emitting little particles of dust. Something like 97% of household dust is human skin! When you're applying a screen protector it is very likely that your face will shed a bit right down into your application zone. Another benefit of having a slightly-moistened (and cool) face is that it will keep you alert and prevent static electricity buildup (which will transfer right through your fingers into your screen protector while you're applying it--unless it's the wet application kind). Static == dust magnet!
Wear a clean plastic smock: You'll look RIDICULOUS but a trash bag over your arms/chest will prevent a lot of fibers from making their way out of your clothes and under your screen protector. Ever see something like a tiny (usually blue) S-shaped "hair" under a screen protector? It's not a hair; it's a fiber from someone's clothes!
Lay off the caffeine for a while: You don't want to be all jittery while applying the protector. Simple as that!
Alignment is never easy but if you do things right you can always pull it up and try again in mid-application. NEVER press down on that protector to "seal the deal" until you're absolutely 100% certain you're happy with the alignment and that there are no dust particles (which are what create those bubbles we all hate so much).

Experience with tempered glass screen protector

I got one, the MobilePioneer with beveled edges. My main concern was how to fight the dust getting between the protector glass and the screen. I tried my best to clean the tablet's surface, as instructed. Nevertheless, when I put the protector screen down at some places i saw dust. It's presence results in a small circle where the glass is not attached to the surface and you can't get rid of it by rubbing the area. So I carefully removed the protector and cleaned the tablets surface again. But it did not help. Actually with each reinstall attempt the problem got worse. Then I realized that the dust particles are not on the tablets surface but they got sick to the sticky stuff on the glass. To make things worse i attempted to remove the dust particles from the sticky glue.
The solution came in the form of a four inch wide scotch tape. I turned the glass sticky side up and applied the scotch tape to the areas where I saw dust. After I peeled the tape off I quickly reinstalled the glass. It worked. The new surface feels awesome, smooth, no fingerprints.
I'm ordering one today, and thought this review on amazon was pretty helpful. I've tried the plastic protectors and have the same problem of dust adhering to the protector as soon as I peel of the plastic layer. I will have to try this method.
To help others out, with getting the results that I did, I will share how I put this on. (1st) Go to your bathroom and wipe down an area to use for the installation. (I cleaned around my sink, and placed a laptop, lap pad across the sink to create a table to work on. If you have a table to work on in your bathroom all the better. (2nd) Close the door to your bathroom, and run the shower on hot water for 10-15 minutes. The steam will adhere to all of the dust floating around in the room and zero out the static electricity of that room, essentially making a clean room for you. (3rd) With the door shut allow the steam to settle in your bathroom for 10 minutes or so.(longer does not hurt, **You want to make sure enough steam has cleared and it has cooled down enough, so as it does not make condensation form on your screen**) Do-not run the bathroom vent fan, they almost always place dust in the air. (4th) Place your tablet on your work area, and wipe down the tablet, with the included alcohol wipe. Wiping with the alcohol wipe first, and then drying with the included microfiber cloth. I did this several times across the tablet. (5th) Now that your tablet is completely clean and free from any smudges and such, use the included sticker that comes with the kit(small white rectangular sticker that says: "Cleaning Paste" on it . And go across the entire tablet several times. This will pick up any lint or dust from the microfiber. I held one end of the sticker in each hand, and pushed the middle of the sticker onto the screen, and then pulled it off the screen, repeating until there was no dust or lint on the screen. (6th) Look at your tablet from different angles, and make sure there is ZERO dust or lint on it. If there is any, use the sticker to remove it. (7th) Now that your tab is perfectly clean(No smudges, ZERO LINT). Peel the protective layer off of the tempered glass. Do this away from the tablet, so no dust or lent, falls onto the tablet screen. Be very very careful, not to touch the sticky side with your fingers. ***Some people stick a couple pieces of tape on the non sticky glass side, allowing the tape to hang over the edge of the glass. This will essentially give you some tabs to hold onto, when trying to lower the glass down in place.*** I did not do this(I've put on many protectors in my day), I just held the glass by the sides, between both hands, without touching the sticky side. But the tape tabs may be helpful to some(look it up online), its all up to you. (8th) Now the hard part, carefully align the glass with the home button, or the camera lens. When you are confident that you have a good alignment, let go of the glass. Simply push once on the center of the glass, and it will adhere across the entire tablet. If there are any bubbles, you can push them towards the outside of the protector. Do not worry about small bubbles, they will go away on there own, in a couple of hours to a day. My bubbles were gone in 4 hours or less

You could also use the tape to secure the edge of the protector, making it like a hinge so it would be easier to install once everything is lined up. Regarding the dust issue. What I do for several years now. I install them inside the washroom. I opened the hot shower until the room is steamy. This way. Any floating dust particles will get caught in the steam.
Or. If you're in a sealed. Airconditioned office with a humidifier. It works the same. I installed my tempered glass in the office. No dust at all
Will give it a try

I agree with you but only add two comments. For the dust particles that still appear have several strips of scotch tape ready. Slide the tape sticky side up under the screen protector and the let the dust adhere to the tape then pull the tape out. The other comment is to search on Youtube for a video of a guy using this method (tape on edges) applying a protector to an iPad. The video helped me get it right especially when I also included several strips of tape ready to remove those stubborn lint/dust particles.

Once you install it, let us know how I turned out. I want to buy one for me as well, just don't know which one is the best.
For installation, what I did when installing in other tablets was, turn the hot water on in your bathroom, close the door and let it get humid. Clean screen well and apply screen protector. The humidity in the air won't allow dust to get set on the screen. Works every time for me.
With many practices you will get better at it, with a tab it's much harder than a phone due to the size of the display, sometimes it only takes me one try and I get a perfect dust free fit, and sometimes it takes me like over 20 times to get it done.
