Screen Protector or not? - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Hey all,
Today i removed my InvisibleShield after i got a replacment of it in mail.
When i removed it and touched the screen, it was amazing !
No finger prints with crazy smooth feeling !!!
What do you think about the gorila screen? someone here is working the the phone without a screen protector?
Thanks

Hard to say. In theory is should be fine but here are some links that may help you decide;

Get a screen protector.
As soon as I got my i9000 I bought a soft case for it. The case had a small ceramic ball as a fastening, and after 1 week of use this ball created a nice big scratch down the middle of the screen.
I've got a Martin Fields screen protector now, it doesn't feel as good on your fingers but at least it's protected, and it's covered up the scratch.

I do not use a protector. The surface is hard glass, and I'm careful to put it in a pocket that contains no other items.
Protectors make more sense for plastic screens.
It is a personal preference; I suppose the chrome plastic edge will be worn before the glass gets scratched.

When I got my iphone I put a screen protector on it right away. After a while it needed to be replaced so I took it off, only to never get around to putting it back on. Needless to say it went without for months and not s single scratch.
I have had my Galaxy for four months now without a screen protector and so far so good. It still looks perfect. I am however vigilant at keeping it away from change or keys while in my pocket.
I have used two different Galaxy S's with protectors (don't know which brand though) and both really took away from the quality of the screen.

Bought a screen protector the other day and it felt sticky i should say prefer without but if you have a 4" super amoled screen you might wanna protect it

I prefer using protector. It's no harm for me and gives extra protection.
At first it was sticky, but not so sticky anymore, or I just got used to it.
I'm using InvisibleShield.

Tried both cause a couple of my first screen protectors were getting air pockets. Ordered a new one, but during the mean time I used it without a protector.
I personally find either works. As long as you have a decent case to prevent the screen from cracking if it falls on the side it should definitely be fine.

If you handle your SGS carefully there`s no need for a protector. But try to seperate it from scratchy things... in your pocket...

I would get one !
I learned the hard way and now have a good scratch on my screen.

Definitely should put one
it helps protect the screen, even though the screen was supposed to be indestructible as they advertise, it is not
many people have used it normally, although it might not break, you can still get annoying scratches if you keep them in the same pocket where you stick your house/car keys in

Have been using it without a protector for about six months now it has no scratches. Some times I forget and put it in the same pocket as my keys but even then I have had no scratches on it.

Im getting one.
Its scratch proof, not scratch resistant.

Correction, it's scratch resistant.
After a while you will see micro scratches on the screen when held up to the light. Use a screen protector.

Same here after I removed it no more fingerprints.
I'm very happy without screen portector.
I would preffer a little scratch instead of dirty fingers all the time an due to that bad vision.
My Brando ultraclear was scratched within one week and I asked for replacement.
The replacement is still waiting, it think I never wil use it.

i used screenprotectors years ago when I got the freshly released OmniaHD GT-i8910. I removed it later and didn't miss it until today I have never got any scratches in my smartphones.

I have had a screen protector on my Galaxy since day 1 and would recommend them to anyone. I doubt very much that they are actually scratch resistant and if left unprotected then I'm sure they will eventually scratch. The Titanic was unsinkable and look what happened to that!

im in charge of about 70 mobile phones. at first I suggested people get them, but after a while in became very clear that they are more of a fad of sorts. sure the reduce wear and tear, but not enough to be worth the cost or hassel. Only twice now have saved a phone... both palm pres... go fig

I have a gadgetshieldz protector on front and back. Not as sticky as the invisible shield and very clear. I used a glare reducing one on my O2 - waste of a pretty screen

I put one on but after awhile dust and stuff just built up where the screen protector wasn't covering (sensors and camera usually) and it just got annoying, I've dropped this thing flat on it's screen and it's not scratched so I figured I didn't need one.

Totally fed up with screen protectors

I have now bought eight of the things from two sources (the HTC brand and the five for £2 ones from Amazon) and not one of them fit properly. All were too big, by which I mean that there was not enough margin either side to ensure that they didn't overlap and bubble. And cutting a tiny strip off doesn't work either - the pressure of the stanley knife seems to put the plastic under tension, so that it doesn't bed down.
Thoroughly fed up with it.
My HTC branded screen protector fits perfectly on my Desire though.
Only had bubble around the round hole on the upper right.
Here here, used the same ones as you, the touch after is perfect, but there just crap everything else.
Also used invisable shield on the screen, and just horrible to use.

Don't bother with a screen protector?
In a year I haven't used screen protectors on any of my capacitive screened phones (i8910, HD2, Desire), not a scratch on any of them. Just be sensible and don't keep the phone in the same pocket as keys and you should be fine...

I've got the 2 dollar ones of amazon too and they fit great. Just perfect if u can get it lined up propper it will fit exactly. It took me 5 tries but evantualy i got 1 lined up properly.
just getting my desire today! but a word from the wise, a few weeks ago I was scrabbling under desks patching phone cables with my touch hd in my pocket, when I finally surfaced noticed a great big, deep scratch on my screen, probably from a desk leg or something. You could run your fingernail down it and it really felt like the glass had scratched. With big panic I gently lifted off the screen protector only to find that the deep scratch had not gone through to the glass. A fresh protector and it was as good as new.
I have already ordered protectors for my desire... well worth the money.

When in pocket, screen faces leg to avoid this problem
But I sympathize with the OP. I've tried a Martin Fields one, and a Brando anti glare one and I wasn't happy with either. Got some of those cheap amazon ones en route, but I think I'm going naked this time around. I was quite happy with the HTC ones on my Hero though.
Not had any issues with my Martin Fields one, gets a bit grubby but a quick wipe and its fine - also have it in it's case and screen facing inwards in my pocket so shouldn't have any issues...never had any issues before with screen issues in the past, though
FWIW, I'm exactly the same.
I bought the invisible shield protector, and tbh, so far I'm quite dissappointed in it.
Firstly, it's very tough to install, without getting dust particles underneath - I didn't get opportunity to do the "steamy room" trick as had been suggested before on here.
That aside, the protector seems really quite thick - I'm sure it will offer decent protection, but the touchscreen effect is really poor by comparison to an unprotected screen.
The question I have is this - are there no "hard" screen protectors?
A "Gorilla Glass" sliver would be excellent to place on top of your screen.
Anyone heard of something like this?
The screen protectors they sell in verizon and best buy for the Droid Incredible are a joke. After some quick diggin around I finally found a good company to go with. I got the Boxwave Crystal Clearview Screen Protectors for my Incredible two days ago and cant tell i even have it on my phone. Fits great, covers entire front of phone minus the earpiece and optical trackpad on phone. Went on first try, absolutely no air bubbles! Comes with a lint free cloth, should you encounter any air bubbles...The cloth prevents you from scratching the screen protector when removing any air bubbles. Also cleans the screen protector to perfection. I recommend Boxwave to anyone who is fed up of orange peel, misfitting, or screen protectors with clarity/quality issues. Boxwave also has has an antiglare/anti-fingerprint screen protector. Check and see what they have for the Desire. Good Luck.

I got a generic screen protector free with a gel case on eBay and I have to say, I think it's the first one I've put on WITHOUT any bubbles on it (and hence the first screen protector that's actually likely to stay on a device I own for more than 10 minutes ) Only think I don't like is that it makes the screen a bit less 'slippy' - it's still not bad, and to be honest I don't think I'll ever like the screen finish on the Desire when compared to the unscratchable, always smooth glass on my old iPhone...
I had inivisiable shield on, took me 3 times to install it and finally got it pretty much perfect,
then as you do, i got a key and scratched along it to show it off to some mates, so then one of my mates decided hey lets get a key and dig it right into it to make a big scratch down the middle!
Looked at ordering a replacement , but still had to pay $4 postage, ontop of the £1.50 my bank would charge for it being from the US. so i thought not worth it.
Though when i took it off it did protect the screen! not a scratch on it.
Here mate. Try these: 140397585852 on ebay.
I initially got a generic one from the three shop and it was rubbish. Very plastic and scratched very easily.
I got these off ebay and I am very impressed with it! It has a very good finish to the surface. Very similar to the bare screen. Also they are actually slightly smaller than the glass screen area so very easy to fit. Also they are very easy to fit and got no dust or bubbles!
Pack of 6. Bargain!

I agree. I have come to peace with using my phones without because I think there is a bigger risk of me getting angry and busting my phone when i try to apply the protector than there is scrathing the screen without

Well that's the trick. The protectors are easy to damage so that you buy new ones and each time think 'phew that saved me' when in fact almost all the time there would have been no damage to the screen anyway.

I don't think the scratch would be visible even without the protector. The protector is some soft material which can get a deep cut like scratch just because its soft. I bet it wouldn't be visible on the screen if you had none either as long as the phone is in your pocket covered by jeans or whatever you have on your ass and the desk inst really made out from pure metal with sharp edges. You would sooner break it then scratch in normal case scenario.

Screen protector needed?

I'm so fed up with these things. I know for a fact that I can't install them on my own, so I have Verizon AND BestBuy give it a go, and they still always leave dirt under it.
So I wanna know if there's ANY chance of the Gorilla Glass getting scratches. I mean even a LITTLE scratch, because I'm crazy about that stuff. Is it possible for sand or dirt or something to scratch the screen?
Please voice your opinions ASAP. I wanna throw this thing back in BestBuy's face.

I feel your pain, I thought the girl at Best Buy did a nice job installing the Zagg until I got home and noticed a speck of dust smack dab in the middle of the screen.
I should bring it back and have another one put on, but just haven't yet.

If I decide to keep a protector on, I'm just gonna leave it how it is. I go back to BesBuy every day because they don't know how to do it, and it's getting played out.
You guys gotta start by washing your hands. Then clean the screen with a lint free cloth. Then take your time and check the screen over and over for specks. With the zagg you have to wet your fingers thoroughly take battery out before doing anything and replace back cover. Spray both sides of the screen protector and start at the top and lay it down. Peel it up until it's right. Re wet if needed! It's sloppy at first. Squeegee away from openings until the big bubbles are gone. Little ones will remain until the next day. Once dry. It's amazing and worth it. Soak up the remainder water with a cloth and leave it off with no battery for a few hours or so. Hope this helps guys. I literally just did this last night. Zagg replaces them too for life. You pay shipping. Worth it imo.

But having said that, I don't use a screen protector and haven't had the first bit of a scratch on any of these phones. Hope that helps.

This is my 2nd Gorilla Glass phone, had the Fascinate before. NOTHING scratches these phones. I mean if you have a pocket full of wood screws and rocks then maybe you'll get a couple scratches but these phones are meant to not need the plastic piece of crap protectors. They even look ugly too. The only thing I ever got to scratch the glass was a box cutter.... yeah...
You don't need it.

Same here. Second phone with gorilla glass. I'm sure you could scratch it if you really tried but I have never had a problem.
I have had several phones and all of them with out any screen protectors and haven't had any issues. Keys normally end up in the same pocket as my phone. Gorilla Glass is great stuff.
I think the main reason for using the screen protector is more for anti-glare or to repel finger prints etc.

I went to my mall because Ghost Armor had a kiosk near the verizon store in there. paid the $50 total for the full body skin and install and I tell you, it is worth the money to have it put on professionally, well closest to professional hahaha. PLUS, now I have lifetime replacement so long as I go there and the damaged skin is on it just pay them the $15 install fee for full body or $10 for front screen only and you are set!
the screen does NOT feel like there is a skin on it. smooth and clear
I had a Sprint Evo before with Gorrila glass and I scratched it. I had my ear buds in my pocket with it and the jack made a 1 inch scratch near the center. From then on I always use a screen protector.

I've used my fascinate naked for a while, always careful with it and put it in my pocket facing my leg. Then one day a .2mm scratch came out of nowhere, probably from a spec of sand in my pocket. Sure, it will handle most of everyday materials, but if you're OCD about having a perfect screen, and a little scratch happens, will always be in the back of your mind. Better safe then sorry. Nothing is really un-scratchable unless it's diamond or crystal sapphire. Only materials with hardness greater than or equal to can scratch other materials. Here's a hardness scale just for fun!
Talc
Gypsum (fingernail at 2.5)
Calcite (copper - old penny at 3.5)
Fluorite
Apatite (window glass or typical knife blade at under 5.5)
Orthoclase (good steel file at over 6.5)
Quartz
Topaz
Corundum (sapphire, ruby)
Diamond
I buy protectors in packs of 5 becasue I never get it the first time. I've used skins from best skins ever on my BBs but they would always end up peeling. I have a friend that installs clearbras on cars and have gotten material from him but even with being super anal on the install it will end up peeling. I would love to have a nice skin and drop the cases but I haven't found a good one yet. The Storm2 I had before had a skin from best skins ever and took a few knocks without issue so I'm not worried about the charge.

I hate the way screen protectors feel and look on a phone. I always feel like I'm losing screen clarity so I keep my Charge without a screen protector. I make sure to never put it in the same pocket as my keys however. While my Charge has zero scratches so far, my fascinate got one scratch when I had it in the pocket with my keys.
Basically if you go without a screen protector you have to be able to accept the fact that you probably WILL get a tiny scratch on it. It is difficult to do but possible. But would you rather deal with screen protectors all the time or deal with a tiny scratch? It all depends on what is worse to you.
I would rather not use one but I'm one of those guys that would go crazy if that big, beautiful screen was scratched.
I used the "Realook" screen protectors on my fassy and will probably use them on my charge after I receive it Monday. They cover the entire screen and don't affect picture quality at all. There is hardly any difference in feel and they hold up very well over time.

I use the steinheil screen protectors. I had one on my fascinate since it came out and had some small scratches on it. I just ordered one for my charge and should be here this week.

Screen Protector vs. No Screen Protector

When I first got my first A2, the rep at best buy put on the screen protector before I left the store... (keep in mind that this is my first "smart" phone of any kind, let alone android) ..so, I had never really known it without a screen guard/shield/protector until I got my 2nd A2 (and, subsequently 3rd).
The 2nd A2 I knew was temporary because of a dead pixel in the center of the screen (and other signs of refurbishment), so I never bothered putting on a screen guard. And with my 3rd A2 and I still haven't put one on - I have a brand new Zagg Invisible Shield just laying there, but it been over 2 months... And, I gotta say I like it much better.
Now this can all depend on the shield you use, but without a shield, the touch seems more responsive, the screen crisper, it's easier to clean...
I have a nice case that is raised a bit on the topside edges to help protect, and I never put anything else in the same pocket as my phone...
I know it's risky, but don't we have Corning Gorilla Glass already? Can you scratch that? And I do eventually have a contract upgrade coming anyway..
Thoughts? Preferences? Keep your minds out of the gutters..
I had a screen protector when I first bought the phone, and I got annoyed with it. The screen was dimmer, but the screen was less prone to finger prints. I still have it as it's reusable, but I left it in the car in the Florida heat, so the layers of it are peeling off. My screen also jumps and stutters when it's plugged in and fully charged to 100%. I should probably buy another one to preserve the screen seeing as how I don't upgrade until May.

I have to agree with you. I personally was super paranoid about scratching my screen and so I put shields from various companies on my screen to help protect it. The screen guard got dirty and so I took it off, and I love not having the screen guard on because of the reasons you stated.
I am pretty sure our phone comes with gorilla glass, but it isn't invincible. I have a scratch on my screen but it isn't noticeable when using the phone just when the screen is off. But I guess just keep it safe in a pocket that you don't have anything in and don't have sand chillin' in your pocket.
I've had this phone for almost a year and I didn't start using a screen protector until a couple of months ago. For some reason the screen on this phone scratches easier than my Captivate. I keep them in my pocket but the Atrix 2 has accumulated quite a few small scratches near the bottom of the screen and around the buttons.
I would rather not use one, but I would like this phone to last a while, even as a back up. I've tried several protectors and I've settled on the Great Shield clear protectors. You can get 3 for $7.99 on Amazon and they install easy and are pretty durable. You can also take them off, clean them and reinstall them without losing any adhesive properties.
i had a anti-glare screen guard which i used for 6months and one day due to some expt i was doing on my phone with skins it got off. havent put one back, have just one tiny 1mm scratch which is visible only if you look at it tangentially. have to say the colors look more vibrant and the touch is more responsive (might be due to OC and cm10).
Anyways, i have a case with raised edges, same as altered described, and i take extra care of my phone now. but since im keeping this phone for another year n a half atleast, will definitely get a new screen guard, (maybe one without the anti-glare effect, if i find one) cause gorilla glass Is prone to scratches.
Real men dont use protection...
Stay classy.
Initially I didnt use any "protection" LOL, but had two tiny scratches on the screen. Yes, it does catch scratches easily compared my previous devices, I tried these 1. Amzer anti-glare, will be good for 1/2 months then you will hate it, 2. Amzer Mirror Screenguard, gave me migraine (literally!) 3. Right now having Xtremeguard on it and like it.
There are basically two reasons why I get the screen protectors, to protect the screen obviously and the screen without protector is too slick for my liking, that's just my opinion.
My first A2 went from release day to this September when it bricked and was replaced. In that time frame i had only acquired 2 micro scratches never had a screen protector on it nor do I have one on my replacement. Also the glass is coated it's that coating that is scratch resistant. Watch this
http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-t...ass-drops-tests-composition-xda-developer-tv/
I have a serious thing against screen protectors and cases. I prefer my phone to be naked.
Screen protectors, no matter what you people say, make the screen worse in some way. The display is made to work well alone. They just all suck, and if you ever want it off, in a lot of cases, god help you, especially with self adhesive ones. They do however help prevent scratches, because you will just scratch the screen protector instead of the screen, so if that is important, you may want to consider it.
Cases, now this is just opinion. There is no doubt that they help prevent your phone from breaking, I just absolutely hate them. I don't like to bulk up my phone and make it ugly.
All that said, I take very good care of my phone. I have never dropped it, and I doubt I will, so there is no need for a case if you are careful.
P.S. yeah, gorilla glass is a joke, it still scratches. Just has a slightly higher hardness, and wont break as easy, but coins or keys will still do their job the same.

First up I feel like a dunce picking up that Skinomi worth 7 green skins sucks bad bad. Totally not recommended.
Gorilla glass is in iteration 2 of implementation so that speaks for itself about our ver 1. Plus there is no Oleophobic coating on our device. I invested a massive 20 + $ greenbacks on Otterbox and though no complaints with usability it sure makes the phone bulky and downright fugly. None of the screen guards last more than three months until you need to put a new one.
In India, given the extreme dusty atmosphere in cities, a small two hour ride in public transport coats the phone with dust. Otterbox covers the all ports with covers so that's good. In my opinion just a slip in/out elegant pouch is the best option. Screenguard I reckon is required. Wish 3M made the privacy screen protector for Atrix 2.

Using S7 Edge WITHOUT screen protector

Hello guys! How are you?
I didn´t find some topic with this...I searched for good screen protector but it´s hard to find and to work it with some case...
I already bought the AmazingThing screen protector to try it (on the topic off screen protectors it seens to be the better one until now), but didn´t instal it yet because i bought also a case and I want to try this before because I think that they won´t work together...
Well...this topic is to users who are using it without any screen protector!
- How is your screen?
- It´s demaged or it´s ok?
- There are to many scratches?
- Just a few scratches that with screen turn on you can´t see it?
The first month with the S7E I used it withou screen protector and the screen was ok, no scratches until that time...after that I´m trying some screen protectors...but I´m tired of just try ****...
Thinking to use without but scared to fu**up the phone haha

How much time you´re using without? Could take some picture after?
No screen protector, no case and no scratches I keep my keys in my pocket sometimes too. So not sure why it doesn't scratch.
No screen protector. Not scratches, nothing.
Micro scratches all over

u don't have to worry as long u don't throw ur phone in a pocket or bag with keys/coins/stuff!!! Never used a screen on my S6 edge / Note 5 and S7 edge and never had a issue until the other day i threw my S7 edge in my messenger which had a bunch of stuff in it now it has a tiny scratch... all my fault.
Just be careful with your phone man! Try and get a case with a good bump just in case.
Excellent case

I have been using the above case since April. I use my phone a lot at home and work. I have no marks whatsoever . Screen protectors are very hit and miss for the edge s7. I probably wasted about £30 on different variants and to be honest none of them were any good. Make sure the case is a genuine Spigen as there are lots of other sellers palming off fakes.
Hope this helps :good:
Using my S7 Edge without a screen protector for more than 2 months now with just a UAG case. Not a single scratch.

Surprisingly no micro scratches or anything on it besides the big cracks going along the screen, that I have since I dropped the phone. Might aswell go on with the insurance claim.
No screen protector and a tiny scratch visible when the screen is bright. Bought during june.
thank you all guys! I got one "glass" screen protector (seens to be the best option with others users reviews), but I haven´t installed it yet...maybe I´ll try it before using without because I already bought it, but I´m tired to search it...if it doesn´t work well I´ll use it without and be happy
I see that maybe will have some tiny scratches...that tiny scratches you can see with the display on or just when it is turned off?
If you could put some photos I´ll thank you a lot!!
I usually put on tempered glass protectors on all of my phones but I couldn't find a proper one for my S7E. I've using mine with no protecotor for more than a month now, but not a single scratch so far. I don't like the film ones, they tend to get dirty overtime and I hate the rainbow effect on the flim.
I'd recommend you go naked with S7E because the screen seems strong enough to resist scraches from dusts. Well I do use my phone carefully, as in I barely drop it and don't put it in my pocket with keys or anything. So If you are like me, you probably wouldn't need one
I'm not using any protector, but occasionally I use the 0.3mm thin silicon case that covers just the back. No scratches.
No screen protector
I have a case without a screen protector on my S7 Edge.
So far so good. I've had the phone since May and it doesn't look like I have any scratches yet.
I make sure that when I put the phone in my pocket that I don't have anything else in that pocket, especially not anything metal or other hard substances like sand.
I tried a few screen protectors and I couldn't find any that would fit well enough so I just gave up.
was using it without any screen protector but got few minor scratches in jus 10 days with keychain in pocket .so now m using a screen protector
Tech21 is awesome and very slim. I posted a thread about a screen protector from 5below (store here in NC) that's 5 dollars. Best one I've found yet. I've tried skinomi and zagg. I will say my case needed some modifications with my dremmel so it wouldn't keep making the edges come up.
I don't use screen protector since many years, but always a wallet case. Never had a scratch on my different phones....
I have some micro scratches! About 2 months in use!
But I never use screen protectors and definitely not gonna do it now on a curved screen where most, if not all, screen protectors have issues to master it and fully cover it while being compatible with cases!

Using the LG V30 without a screen protector.

Anyone out there using the LG V30 without a screen protector? I've gone through two of them already. Neither has yielded a good result. The latest has the edge curving to it, but the glue is only applied at the sides and bottom. The top of the phone is open. As a result, I get tons of lint and dust between the screen protector and the screen itself. And off course, since there is no direct contact throughout the middle of the screen, touch response and sensitivity is horrific.
For this reason, I'm considering ditching the screen protector altogether, but I'm really worried about scratching this screen. Gorilla 5 has its shortcomings in this area. What's the experience of other LG V30 owners been?
Got mine in december and I applied the same kind of glass screen protector right away, with glue only on the sides. And of course, lint and touch sensitivity problems just like you... I got quickly fed up, after a couple of weeks I ditched the screen protector an got a nice case (VRS Design -https://www.amazon.com/Vrs-Design-VRSV30HPSSS-Shield-Silver/dp/B0768ZVXGS). No scratches whatsoever til this day. The phone fell once on concrete from about four feet on the corner/screen, no damage at all thanks to the case - I guess.
My 2 cents : forget about the glass protector, get a nice case with significant lip around the screen and enjoy how smooth the naked screen is.

Agreed. Just don't put it in your pocket with your keys.

I've had the phone since the end of December with no screen protector, and only a cheapo clear case that the retailer threw in when I bought it. I am a little rough in my devices as I work outdoors and the device is in and out of my pockets all day. It occasionally gets dropped or knocked out of the car mount. Not a blemish on it.

This is the first smartphone I have not put a screen protector on. I did make sure the case has a lip (A Ringke Fusion).
So far, so good.
I never use screen protectors.

Tried 3 different screen protector (ringke, ****ke and and other crap), never worked. So I am using it in case or many times in NUDE form because it has some beautiful curves, this phone
Same here, tried 4 different screen protectors then gave up and went nude. Best decision ever. I've had glass screen protectors on all my phone since they first came on the market. First time going without one.
Minor scratches will happen but usability, clearity and feel is SO much better that its worth it.
The only thing that bums me out is that the camera glass scratches easily. Heard its easy to replace but its stupid that its not sapphire glass.
I dont even use a case. Only have a black slickwraps skin on the back because i dont like the silver color. (Only silver and blue were available in my country)
I bought and use the skinomi matte screen protector and it works really well... In fact I got the same protector for the Note 8 as well.
I got a scratch on the first day that I got the phone, I don't know how or where but I did... That's why I always use screen protector, lucky for me I as able to buy a full glue when they were still available if I accidentally break it I don't know what will I do with my life.
I'm kind of different from others here.
Day 1 (August I think), I skipped the glass protector because I read from others on XDA that nothing was fitting right or didnt cover the edges of the screen. I put a plastic-like traditional protector on instead. It's been ok except for lots of grease and smudge buildup. I do have some scratches on the protector, but I wonder if they even would be noticeable if I hadn't had the screen protector on. The reason why is because of the plastic/rubbery texture of the screen protector. I feel like scratches would show up MORE on this protector vs the naked Gorilla Glass.
I'm really considering taking the protector off, but a little hesitant. Lol
I'm currently using it without the screen protector.
I've tried putting a plastic screen protector (wet install), and I've noticed it's soft almost like rubber, and also kind of sticky. After waiting for 3-4 days it remained too soft, so I just peeled it off. I haven't even tried any glass protectors after reading all of the reviews.
I mean, I would love if someone could suggest something that works well, and is $10-15 tops.
There is a whole thread dedicated to it, but the final conclusion is that nothing works except the whitestone dome which is nearly $50.

Yep I read that, but that's still a bit too expensive and too much work.
I think LG designed the curved edges to discourage users put a screen protector on it. LOL. I have been using it with no screen protector, but I have put it in a clear TPU that has lips. I dropped my phones a few times, sometimes face down, and luckily no scratches so far.

That is important, to have the lip protection on a case.

This my opinion if you don't care about resale value then go naked. Me I personally care about the resale value so I put a case and screen protector since I switch phones yearly sometimes less so I try to get as much money back as I can for the new phone or else I would go naked.

I care about resale value, and I definitely see the need for a case (especially with raised lips) -- but not a screen protector that makes the display less responsive. A friend and his wife just got these phones, wouldn't listen to me, PAID for screen protectors at T-Mobile. Within 3 days they ripped them off.
Just don't put the phone on your pocket with keys and coins.

Keys and coins don't scratch screens (there are dozens of Youtube videos that prove this), but a grain of sand will.
I never use screen protectors, and have never had any issues, but somewhere, somehow the v30 picked up a light scratch on the screen (but not from keys or coins).

That's because there could be particles of dust/sand/rocks in your pocket which could scratch the glass. I always baby my phones, yet I've picked up a couple of scratches.
