Need some expert help here! I’ve tried out 3 to 4 different screen protector companies for my HTC HD but they all leave these nasty bubbles and make the screen fuzzy. Can someone please tell me the brand they’re using if they DO NOT have this weird bubble problem…Thanks!
Get martin fields screen protector. It will not leave bubbles as long as there's no dust trapped.

Invisible Shield. All the bubbles even out overnight. Doesn't scratch or smudge.
I use Brando Workshop's CLEAR screen protectors. I had tried all of them, even the the ones mentioned above, but none can compare to Brando's accuracy as to screen specification size. The rest are either small and still leave enough space on the sides uncovered, I guess they made it that way to ease replacement or to easily peel it off. But you don't change your screen protector every month, so to me that extra small uncovered space is unacceptable risk of dust going on the sides.
I use scotch tape to get rid of dust prior to applying the screen protector. I use scotch tape on both the screen and the part of the screen protector prior to application. You have to make sure you stick one side first and let it glide to the other side. FLOPPING any screen protector on top of the screen, no matter what brand will leave bubbles.
Yes, if there is dust on the device you can use some tape (which is not too sticky!) to remove the dust. Also try one of those cloths you get with some stuff to remove finger prints. Those seem to be good as well for removing the first dusts.
However, for your next device do this:
Don't take off the protective cover (of the screen) before you get your protector. This way you are sure there is no dust.
Also, when you get your screen protector don't take that off the protective thingy as well!
Go to your bathroom and turn on the shower (leave device in other room for now ). So the shower is filled with steam. This will remove most of the dust inside of your bathroom. So you turn off the shower and while there is just some steam left you go get your device and apply the protector.
Everything has to be done as quick as possible so the chance of dust is reduced to a minimum. Also try and practice a bit with all the protective stuff on just to see how it should fit.
I use this 'technique' with all of my new phones in combination with a Brando screenprotector and it works like a charm! Guess other brands will do just fine as well.
And as the previous poster said, don't just flop it on. Work from one side to another, e.g. from top to bottom. While you rub the protector on the screen. But that you'll have to testrun a few times (with all protective stuff still on) so you get a good idea how to get it right in one try. One try is always best if you succeed .
I hate those bubbles too! Someone suggested purplemoo but it had the same problem. Then I tried navprotector.com, a smaller company I found on eBay. So far it’s working like a charm – no bubbles even after 6 months!

Today i removed my InvisibleShield after i got a replacment of it in mail.
When i removed it and touched the screen, it was amazing !
No finger prints with crazy smooth feeling !!!
What do you think about the gorila screen? someone here is working the the phone without a screen protector?

Get a screen protector.
As soon as I got my i9000 I bought a soft case for it. The case had a small ceramic ball as a fastening, and after 1 week of use this ball created a nice big scratch down the middle of the screen.
I've got a Martin Fields screen protector now, it doesn't feel as good on your fingers but at least it's protected, and it's covered up the scratch.
I do not use a protector. The surface is hard glass, and I'm careful to put it in a pocket that contains no other items.
Protectors make more sense for plastic screens.
It is a personal preference; I suppose the chrome plastic edge will be worn before the glass gets scratched.
When I got my iphone I put a screen protector on it right away. After a while it needed to be replaced so I took it off, only to never get around to putting it back on. Needless to say it went without for months and not s single scratch.
I have had my Galaxy for four months now without a screen protector and so far so good. It still looks perfect. I am however vigilant at keeping it away from change or keys while in my pocket.
I have used two different Galaxy S's with protectors (don't know which brand though) and both really took away from the quality of the screen.
Bought a screen protector the other day and it felt sticky i should say prefer without but if you have a 4" super amoled screen you might wanna protect it
I prefer using protector. It's no harm for me and gives extra protection.
At first it was sticky, but not so sticky anymore, or I just got used to it.
I'm using InvisibleShield.
Tried both cause a couple of my first screen protectors were getting air pockets. Ordered a new one, but during the mean time I used it without a protector.
I personally find either works. As long as you have a decent case to prevent the screen from cracking if it falls on the side it should definitely be fine.
If you handle your SGS carefully there`s no need for a protector. But try to seperate it from scratchy things... in your pocket...

it helps protect the screen, even though the screen was supposed to be indestructible as they advertise, it is not
many people have used it normally, although it might not break, you can still get annoying scratches if you keep them in the same pocket where you stick your house/car keys in
Have been using it without a protector for about six months now it has no scratches. Some times I forget and put it in the same pocket as my keys but even then I have had no scratches on it.
Im getting one.
Its scratch proof, not scratch resistant.

Correction, it's scratch resistant.
After a while you will see micro scratches on the screen when held up to the light. Use a screen protector.

Same here after I removed it no more fingerprints.
I'm very happy without screen portector.
I would preffer a little scratch instead of dirty fingers all the time an due to that bad vision.
My Brando ultraclear was scratched within one week and I asked for replacement.
The replacement is still waiting, it think I never wil use it.
i used screenprotectors years ago when I got the freshly released OmniaHD GT-i8910. I removed it later and didn't miss it until today I have never got any scratches in my smartphones.
I have had a screen protector on my Galaxy since day 1 and would recommend them to anyone. I doubt very much that they are actually scratch resistant and if left unprotected then I'm sure they will eventually scratch. The Titanic was unsinkable and look what happened to that!
im in charge of about 70 mobile phones. at first I suggested people get them, but after a while in became very clear that they are more of a fad of sorts. sure the reduce wear and tear, but not enough to be worth the cost or hassel. Only twice now have saved a phone... both palm pres... go fig

I have a gadgetshieldz protector on front and back. Not as sticky as the invisible shield and very clear. I used a glare reducing one on my O2 - waste of a pretty screen
I put one on but after awhile dust and stuff just built up where the screen protector wasn't covering (sensors and camera usually) and it just got annoying, I've dropped this thing flat on it's screen and it's not scratched so I figured I didn't need one.
I just bought the G Tablet from Sears at lunch. Came home, opened the box and noticed bubbles underneath the screen protector. No biggie I thought since it's only to protect the screen during shipping/packaging. After 4 hours waiting for it to charge, I play with it. Take off the packaging screen protector.
There are bubbles underneath the main screen protector. Found some comments on the interwebs. Peeled off that protector and got out most of the bubbles but some small bubbles remain. Also there are rings of the outlines of where the initial bubbles were. Called him desk. I told them that i re-applied the screen protector and there are rings, etc. Asked if I could just remove the screen protector.
They said no because the glass will easily scratch. Guess it's not made of gorilla glass. Oh well, looks like I'm taking it back. Can't decide if I'm going to exchange for another one or just wait till the other more polished Tegra 2 android tablets are released.

LOL, just take the screen protector off man. I had bubbles under my too, I took it off when I first got the G Tab.
The screens get greasy easily, but they don't scratch easily. You don't put it in your pocket like a cell phone so no keys, no change, etc. Just remove it and don't worry. That's no reason to return a tablet.
I experienced the same thing, and it is very frustrating. However, I'm not sold on returning it yet. The protector itself is easy to remove and reapply; it uses static to hold on so there isn't any adhesive and you can remove/reattach as many times as necessary. The only problem (and my current problem) is dirt on the screen protector. I took it off to reapply, but then got some dust in the few moments it took me to reapply it. So I removed it, washed it in warm soapy water till it was all shiny and new, but then hit the hard part of how am I supposed to dry this thing? I tried a towel, left lint. Tried a blowdryer, left little dried bubbles. So now I guess I'll try air drying it.
But I wouldn't return it just yet, but that's just me.
There might be dirt under the sticky side of the protector, I've used tape to clean out dust particles or lint that's stuck under the screen protector.
when you guys took off the initial screen plastic was there a bit less glare?
Yesterday i bought the Spigen glass.tr screen protector
it's a dry protector and no wet solution needed
the biggest problem any one can had is the dust under the screen protector
anyway
i installed the protector after cleaning my phone screen very carefully and i was sure that there was no dust there
and of course after the installation there was some dust between the protector and the screen
i was very mad . it's a 30$ protector
i removed the protector and using some alcohol (the white one that u can find in any drug store )
i cleaned the protector
then i made sure that the protector stays wet with the alcohol and i applied it then used the squeegee to remove any small drops of alcohol between the screen and the protector
and now its perfect no dust and no bubbles at all
i wanted to share this with everyone having trouble applying his glass screen protector

The spigen glass series comes with an alcoholic cleaner. At least mine did.
Another tip would be that immediately after screen protector is placed, you can still adjust it by firmly nudging it in whatever direction you desire.
Likewise mine was perfect. Am really loving the glass feeling.
Other tips for installing glass screen protection:
1. Turn on your shower with the highest water temperature possible, and let it run for about 3~5 minutes. Then, do the procedure in the bathroom. I find that this helps get rid of dust in the air.
2. First, go to a completely white screen, and remove all the dust you can see. This will get rid of dark colored dust particles.
3. Turn off the phone and remove remaining dust. Since the screen is black when it is off, this will get rid of lighter colored dust.
Glass screen protectors feel amazing. It's difficult to get rid of all the dust, but it's definitely worth it.
totally messed mine up.
On the first go, got a bit of dust under it - it was really noticeable - so decided to remove it and give it another wipe with the alcohol wipe. Didn't work so redid it several times.
Was about to throw the thing away when I read about someone using a lint roller. Used it on the underside of the protector and screen and not only did it remove the dust it "revived" the tackiness of the protector.
It is now (almost) perfect on my phone

This. I did this when I got my Glas.TR for my iPhone, by far the easiest and best way I've found to install a screen protector.
Just installed mine and there's a tiny white lint stuck underneath
I wouldn't mind it but it's created a little bubble, hope it goes away or I'll just have to live with it!
Update: took it off and sprayed some soap and water solution to clean it. Reapplied and squeezed out the water and haze, now its almost perfect

Like mentioned before:
1. Do it after taking a shower (this is make sure your hands are clean)
2. You can use sellotape (sticky tape) to make sure all dust is gone
3. Make sure you wipe it down with a microcloth (can be wet with water/alcohol) However some alcohol wipes will remove the oleophobic coating and cause smudging!)
Best way to clean screens is wet cloth and dry cloth
I've got bubbles at the edge for weeks. I wonder if I can lift the glass a lil bit to wipe the screen and re-attach it perfectly. If yes, what should I use to lift it? I know my fingernail can do...but I guess I can chip the edge by doing so
Yeah shower trick works. Usually have a perfect glass protector with not even one lint under it.
you guys are all so funny. The best way is to use scotch tape to remove any particles under the protector both on it and on the phone.
1. clean the phone with alcohol swap
2. wipe with non lint cloth (most likely provided with protector)
3. start by separating the protector from backing slightly not removing it fully to avoid any debris and place top half on phone lining up properly.
4. work from top to bottom slowly with credit card or supplied squeegee working bubbles out.
5. if debris are noticed under protector do not try to lift with finger nail use scotch tape to lift the protector and slide another piece under the protector area to catch the debris.
Omg I did the shower thing and I wet my phone completely..slipped into the bath. How I am suppose to put the screen while taking a shower...Omg..just joking..

Thanks for your advice. I applied the glass protector 2 weeks ago. I tried scotch tape for carton box but the tape wasn't that sticky to lift the protector. Have you got any further advice? Thanks

I have always been able to lift with Scotch tape. Place the tape on a corner posing it firmly down on the protector leaving the tape extend as a tab. Lift slow just enough to seperate the two (screen protector from screen)
I use the hinge method. You can go on YouTube and find videos. It really helps to get it on straight and helps eliminate bubbles.

I just looked up a video, and that is definitely sort of brilliant.
I too used the shower trick, and for the most part, worked great. I needed a couple of attempts to line it up just perfectly however. Once I finally got it down, it looked fine. Next day I noticed a small speck of dust in the upper right corner. Just far enough away from the edges that would make lifiting it and using tape a little risky. We will see if my OCD can subside and Ill get used to it in a few days.

Thank you Mapobean. I tried it; however it only works on normal screen protector (the film one). I tried that from my friend's phone. Mine is glass screen protector and no way I can apply you useful tip. :crying:
A lot of people use screen protectors and some don't....
I bought two but both got dust underneath them while installing them....and then they started peeling because of my case......
I do baby my phone to some extent and use it sensibly..
To people who use the phone naked how scratch resistant is the screen? Is it as good as an iPhone 4/4S (just a reference because my mom's has no screen guard from almost a year and there are no scratches at all....)?

Its pretty good tbh, I've never had any scratch or any sort of screen protection on any of my phones, to be fair Ive dropped quite a few times and it has one minor scratch at bottom of screen, but its very minimal, other than that its pretty solid I've had in pocket with coins keys, dropped it and feel out pocket a couple of times. I'd say it matches the iPhone 4s screen resistance my gf got that and she is just as clumsy as me.

Keep in mind that EVERY phone is susceptible to micro scratches. Scratches happen when an object that is harder than the screen comes in contact with it. Since our screens are gorilla glass, it is harder than keys, coins, knives, etc. These objects won't scratch the screen.
But dust and sand have particles in them that are as hard as diamond so any phone (including iphones) will get micro scratches after a while. If you hold your mom's phone up to the light you'll see them.
I put a very small (almost invisible) scratch in mine shortly after getting it. I think it came from dropping it in the local golf course pro shop (commercial carpet on concrete slab), where I am guessing some embedded sand was the culprit. Sand has no problem scratching glass - even Gorilla Glass. Since then, no other scratches have surfaced on either the front or back. I make sure my pockets are free from sand and dirt.
I do not like screen protectors. IMHO, the ruin the look and feel of a nice phone.
Mine was dropped from my pant's pocket and I have one visible scratch in the front glass near top.
Tough I have also tested nailing the front with T5 Torx screw driver without a single scratch but this fall from pocket was not that major fall but the scratch is there. :crying:

I have never put any scratch guard or covers on any of my phones but this time it seems I will have to get some slim cover for the back atleast.
I didn't use screen protectors for a long time until I noticed the micro scratches all over in certain lighting. the good ones are very scratch resistant and hardly feel any different from the glass. Ive tried more than a few between my iphone and nexus, and the SGP ultra crystal are my favorite by far. I like them even better than the expensive tempered glass screen protectors.
you can get a dust free installation pretty easily with the dry install protectors. The secret is using tape to remove any dust that gets trapped under it. I've only ever had one dust free install that didn't require the use of tape. The steamy shower trick makes it even easier. Then, on the oleophobic surfaces you can even actually very slowly massage the protector around the glass after installation, which means it's very easy to get perfect placement.

I have a very light scratch on my screen. I wanted to play with it before covering it. Of course, with my luck, I got one within 24 hours. I think it was when my little maltese walked over it. Unless it was just my dry fingers cutting it up.
Off the bat I used my N4 without a screen protector for the front (one for the back though) and I had not a single scratch on the front for ~4 months.
I have screen protectors on the front now and it doesn't really matter to me, but I did drop it in the washroom where it dented the screen. Besides that, no micro scratches or anything, so I say the Nexus 4 is solid.
how does the screen get dented? you mean the chrome around the screen right?!
Ive had the phone for a few months and never used a case however there are some micro scratches which are barely visible, more on the back than the front. I got a diztronik slim case to use when i will be working in a dirty environment which helps, but 90% of the time NO CASE NAKED IS THE WAY TO GO. (I have dropped it twice luckily only a small mark on the edge/border ring)
I would highly recommend a case or a screen protector. When I first got the phone I decided not to use a case and within a few days had several scratches on the back and one on the front side without ever dropping it.
I got a case that lasted me a few months then fell apart and got ugly so i took it off and now I got 2 NEW scratch on the top right by the camera
Now I'm trying to find whats the best screen protector then might add the bumper.

Another tip is to take a hot shower and do the application immediately afterward so that the dust settles and no more falls on the screen during application. Worked perfectly for me

My first Nexus 4 got a lot of small scratches at the corners on the screen, I took great care of it but I guess my pockets scratched it? I got a replacement and it is a lot better. I have about a 1mm scratch in the center only from having my keys in the same pocket. I have a bumper and I only have one screen protector on the back now because I heard it's not gorilla glass and it's more pron to scratches.
I use a tempered glass screen protector regardless of durability. I hate having scratches at all and my last nexus 4 before I rma'd had scratches visible and annoying in sunlight.

I got 2 scratches on the back
I got a front screen guard but no back screen guard
I never kept my phone on its back (rarely do)
I guess I scratched it using my own fingernails which I am too lazy to cut
These 2 scratches make me feel so bad that I just ordered a ballistic case
