Sears never charged me for my G-tab . . . - G Tablet General

I bought my G-tab online Nov. 1 via PayPal, received the tablet, and assumed the transaction went through. I just checked and they never took the money! The transaction expired Friday and is listed as "Canceled" now.
Anyone ever experienced this? I kinda want to call them to see why they didn't take the money. But, I kinda don't wanna tempt fate and look a $398.99 gift horse in the mouth either! LOL!
Thoughts???

It may sound strange and ethical, but I would call them.

call me whatever you like but I would most definitely not call them.

Not that easily... if they called me about it that would be different, it was their mistake. call it karma for having such a piece of **** return policy... I'm going under the assumption that you bought it from sears online. if it was from an individual or something my morals might come into play

That's interesting considering you've probably intentionally voided your product warranty by making software mods using roms illegally ported from other devices. An probably side loade d hundreds of apks for which you didn't pay the developer and most likely skimmed from a wares or torrent site, or Applanet.net.
Sound like a huge case of situational ethics to me buddy. Pick a position. If you feel so much guilt about things, delete your xda account and keep it moving.

id let them know, personally. when you start taking an active role in karma, as another stated in this thread, then karma starts taking an active role in your life. ive had way too many run-ins with karma to tempt fate again.
but hey, thats just me.

that's actually not even a valid argument except for installing non-paid for apps.
What you do to a device you own is your choice. You can flash anything you want to it if you choose....as long as you don't expect a warranty replacement if you screw it up. If I want to flash my toaster oven with the firmware from my microwave......more power to me. But when my toaster oven no longer works, it's my fault not the manufacturers.
Now getting a toaster oven you didn't pay for is a totally different argument (the original poster's).

Sorry OP, but it's called theft of a material item. You knew that you didn't pay for it, but are keeping it anyways. Of course, many companies tack on extra charges for services and steal from consumers, so it's a gray area. I guess if you look at it from the standpoint of "business is business" then it's fair. Dunno what to say.

Thanks for the input. All is well. I'm returning the device & will let them figure out what to do. Anyone in the Richmond, VA area looking for a clearance item, check the Virginia Center Commons Sears location later this week.

Good call... You are doing the right thing.... Why are you returning?

Thanks. I also have an Archos 101 8gb that I've been comparing the last week. Sticking with the 101 and awaiting the 2.2 update.

I can tell you have good morals, why else post that you got it lol.If you honestly intended on keeping it, you shouldn't or wouldn't have said anything to anyone.

Yes, not calling them and taking a free GTab will help our economy. /sarcasm

It happened to me, I called to ask about my order being placed and available, shortly after I was charged. I had received my pickup email already, so I'm sure if I had picked up the order and said nothing, it would have not been charged.

In a perfect world, when you called to tell them about the error they should have said "we appreciate your honesty and we will not charge you because of it, consider this a gift". You win, and they win as you would be more likely to be a return customer.

Good bye, G2X. Hello, Sensation?

This is my official letter of resignation to the G2X.
I purchased my G2X about a month ago, thinking that everything would be just peachy. This phone was top-of-the-line material, dual-core, HDMI, and everything I thought would be cool.
I have had this phone a while now, and I am getting sick of it.
It all started with the text messaging. I would get message after message after message of the same message, like my friends were text-bombing me. Turns out they weren't. I called T-Mobile, and they said that it was a "message database error. Our server thinks that your phone didn't get the message, so it resends it in hopes that it receives it." Well, it wasn't the server. It was the phone. I flashed CyanogenMod nightly onto the device, and successfully fixed that error.
Second, the battery life. The device drinks battery like a drunken sailor drinks alcohol. I couldn't make the device last a full day. No matter if I froze the bloatware and didn't use it, the phone would be dead by nightfall. However, through CyanogenMod, it let up on the drink-age, but not enough. Also, the CyanogeMod nightly would have strange errors with the battery display. It would lock at a certain percentage, then drop unexpectedly, and lock again.
Third, the GPS. No matter where I am, the GPS will not locate me quickly. If I want to get directions back home, it can find the directions easily. But, it spends 15 minutes trying to locate me. I drive and I drive in hopes of a location, but to no luck. Finally, as I approach my house, it kicks in and guides me the rest of the way. I just think on a phone with such processing power, GPS should be the last of my worries.
Fourth, the screen-bleed. Now, this is debatable, and I feel as though my device doesn't really have too much of an issue with this. But, I still cited it as a problem with T-Mobile, because it really is. When the screen is blacked-out, I can see white patches in the corners drawing into the center. Not good for such an expensive device.
Lastly, the heat. This phone cooks at higher temperatures than my George Forman. When I am trying to download a large package or watch a movie, this phone gets hot to the touch. The battery feels warm, and my hands get all sweaty. Not good.
I went into T-Mobile today, and asked if I could have a replacement or exchange. They said no. I had passed up my 14-day return policy.
I found it odd that the G2X was not visible in the store at all. Before, it had been placed prominently in the high-end-smartphone section, with a spotlight to attract attention. Now, it has been replaced with the G2. The store still has the cases and screen protectors, but no G2X.
I called T-Mobile and asked for a replacement device, it is all I could do.
One thing I found interesting was that with all the issues I relayed to the representative, she said none of them are issues with the device that T-Mobile knows of. I really want to call shenanigans on that. T-Mobile has to know about this.
My hopes are to get two replacements within 90-days. This will qualify me for a replacement with another phone of similar qualities. The lady on the phone told me that the computer analyzes the phones and chooses a compatible one for me. I am crossing my fingers that the compatible phone will be the Sensation.
The replacement comes in the mail tomorrow.
I plan on waiting a few days before calling back and citing the errors that the replacement has.
So, good bye G2X. Hello, Sensation.
What are some other issues with the device that are worth citing?
I know it's kinda "morally incorrect" but, I want to know these errors so I can have a full arsenal when I call.
I really hope you get a Sensation. I'm praying for you.
Thank you, man.
Do you think the Sensation will be pulled up as a "similar device" for the G2X?
I don't want to trade for like a G2 or the HTC Galaxy S.
Replacements
They will only offer the Vibrant 4g as a replacement. The Sensation is too near start of life for it to be offered. Good luck either way but after a 90 minute phone call with care and Executive care (1-800-318-9270) I was told the same thing.
Do not want.
Why the Vibrant?
I want a phone that has Dual Core capabilities, and the Vibrant (Galaxy S) doesn't have that.
Now, 1GHz is still good, but..

Oh God just go already! Why do people feel the need to post these stupid "Goodbye cruel g2x" messages. I understand discussions about bugs and flaws your phone may have...but these silly "I'm leaving" pronouncements are just clutter.
It's not constructive, no one really cares, and it's just flame bait. You would do much better if you were to go to the Sensation forums and announce your grand arrival...I'm sure someone there would appreciate it.
In conclusion, so long and don't let the door hit ya on the way out!

+1 g2x is beast
if gps which is such a complaint for so many phones on these forums is such a big deal and has to be accurate to the millimeter then suggest that you get a tom tom a compass and duct tape it to what ever phone you are currently pissed at.
I'll save you the disappointment now and tell you, Tmobile doesn't have a phone in their input into their system as a replacement for the G2X. In other words, they WILL NOT swap you into a different phone. The most they will do is give you an early upgrade and "allow" you a full discount to purchase the Sensation. I spent all day yesterday speaking with several different members of several different department's management teams and that was the only solution offered other than letting me out of my contract (which they did do). Also, you don't need to wait days before you call them, just go ahead and call them back immediately. Also, they are aware of the problems with the phone as it is well documented in their company, and anyone there with any knowledge knows the reason the phone was pulled was due to quality issues (which they admitted to me on several occasions). It really is pathetic how Tmobile feels it's alright to screw over their customers the way they are doing. I called the corporate phone number yesterday and left a message and am expecting a call back from the corporate office tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some accountability...

2 days ago, I called Customer Care and essentially told them that I would be getting the Sensation in exchange for the G2X at no cost to me what so ever. I made sure it happened, in a nice way of course. I didn't give them a chance to say otherwise
I made sure Customer Care put in the notes on my account BEFORE I delt with the retail store (where I purchased my G2X on 6/03), that any restocking fee would be waived....that it would simply be a straight across the board swap for my G2X, Speck Case and Screen protectors....for a Sensation, new case and new screen protectors. Plain and simply because I was sold a defective product and the accessories were pointless now....obviously.
Long story short.....Got my SWEET new Sensation, case, screen protectors at zero cost to me.....straight swap. Of course keep in mind I was in my 14 days, so I had some extra pull.
I'm pretty sure I got around policy, but it sure felt like the right thing happened on every level
As far as the G2X goes.....I simply could not live with that screen bleed. It really did wash out the top part of the screen. Plus there are a bunch of stories of peeps on multiple G2Xs....all with bleed to some extent. The Sensations screen is gorgeous....resolution, size and no bleed!!
Lastly...I also discovered that the Sensation not only records 1080p at 30fps...it also is the only one between G2X and SGS2 that records the audio in STEREO!! The others record in mono.... That's a pretty big deal for me as I love making vids

I too am getting a sensation, but I'm also keeping one of my g2x's
I only have a little screen bleed (acceptable amount), finally starting to see better battery life, and no random reboots or overheating.
This certainly received a lot of hate. Heh.

How t-mobile screwed me (and maybe you) on the G2X

I've decided to completely abandon t-mobile and I plan to NOT pay my last bill and then fight them if it shows up on my credit report. Here is a quick summary:
1. When I got the phone, it was advertised as also running ATT 3G. That was a lie.
2. Phone also was advertised with FM radio. Not true.
3. t-mobile was never able to provide a working unlock code despite repeated attempts.
4. Phone had screen bleed issues. Went to store for replacement, but they were out of stock, so they told me to wait till after 14 days & call cust-serv for replacement. Needless to say this eventually came back to haunt me because now all they say is 'you only had 14 days to return it'!
5. Over the period of the next couple of months - I was shipped 4 empty boxes from t-mobile. Finally got one with a phone in it. Not only was it a refurb unit - it had the same problem as the original one I got.
6. I finally resorted to calling the corporate office and said I just wanted my money back for the phone and to cancel the contract. After 45 minutes of hassling the end result was that the only thing they would do is allow me to mail the phone to corporate headquarters and they would credit my account. Well guess what- I don't want anything to do with t-mobile so that is a no go. I told them if that's the way they plan to handle it then I will keep both phones & never pay the bill.
Lastly - I called LG directly to see if they would fix the phone. Making another long, sad story short - they will not. Their response is the 'screen is the type that will bleed like that - it's normal'.
I've never been so dissatisfied or disgusted with a business my whole life.
Not paying your bill is not a good idea. No technology is perfect. Plus everybody gets run arounds once in their life at any company. Sorry to hear about your experience, but not paying your bill will only create more hassle for you.

While I understand your point I'm not paying for something I didn't get either. Being a senior systems analyst I realize more than most that technology isn't prefect - but that has nothing to do with replacing a defective product. I'm prepared to deal with the hassle it could possibly create on my credit report as I've already spoken to a couple of experts including a CPA about what to expect and how to handle any potential issues that arise. While it might create more hassle for me at least I'll know I didn't just roll over and let them stiff me 100's of dollars. Frankly I will sleep better at night. Furthermore if more people were assertive like this perhaps t-mobile (and LG for that matter) would not be so quick to screw over the next guy. Everyone & their dog knows these G2X's were a) falsely advertised and b) most were defective right out of the box. What they should do is admit fail and offer recalls on all the phones. But why do that when they can just give run-around to customers? This attitude they have "like what ya gonna do about it huh? can't do anything can ya? just buy another phone if you dont like it" crap has got to stop and I for one will not be bullied by these a-holes any longer.
First off buying a phone from t-mobile to use on att is stupid.
FM radio, really is it that big of a deal?
screen bleed....I have it. And never see it except on boot up
As for the 14 days, you knew better and could have went to another store or just returned it all together.

good points, but again, not paying your bill does not impact T-Mobile or LG. But it will impact you. With today's credit situation, intentionally damaging your credit is not a good tradeoff. Why not file a complaint with the BBB or your Statue Attorney General. At the least, the tradeoff for you is better. First, you keep your credit score. Second, the companies in question will be required to respond. It will be an irritant to them....but, right now, you cannot hope to regain your money, your contract freedom or any other satisfaction. Being an irritant might be the best you can get.
BTW...I never saw any advertisement about AT&T bands. Be careful on this one...have written proof, or understand completely what you claim.
Good luck with that ... I personally wouldn't want a $100 phone bill or whatever amount messing with my credit score. Sure you can fight it, but that sounds like a hassle. Maybe better to just pay your bill, cancel your line, cut your losses and move on. You're gonna waste a lot of energy on this (already have it sounds like) and it won't profit you a thing except more frustration.
Just my 2¢ from experience.

If it were to affect my credit score (and at this point I doubt they'll try that) it would be such a teeenee weenne thing on it I don't think it would hurt me hardly at all and I've already got a plan in place to have it removed should it it appear. The other option is to sue and of course that would cost more money and more time than this.

Well I think you did. I've had cellphones for 20 years and haven't had a problem before that I couldn't get worked out by talking to someone in customer service or at a store. Selling the phone and paying the bills and early termination fee means I'd be LETTING them screw me out of about $800 ...because they sold me a defective unit and won't a) fix it b) replace it with a working one or c) just give me my money back. If this is a 'typical cellphone customer experience' then I think WE ALL have a problem. I'm not giving these bozo's one red cent and if it means something pops up on my credit record for 3 days until I get it removed (as I said I'm ready) then so be it.

I love it! I have to agree with you, these big corporations bullying, stealing, lying and taking advantage of hard working people has to stop...sadly very few people will or can fight back so they will keep doing it and getting away with it...but im glad you decided to stand your ground and fight for whats right! Good luck bud!

OP, I completely agree with what you've set out to do. Companies like T-mobile and LG need to correctly market and manufacture their products, and respond better to defects and mishaps after they occur. I had to exchange my first G2X (which had HEAVY screen bleed and non-working wifi), but somehow lucked out on a good unit the second time around. The hoops I had to jump through to accomplish that exchange led me to lose a lot of respect for both companies, and even more so after reading some of the truly horrid experiences on this forum.
If T-mobile and LG had worked out a coherent exchange program, made accurate announcements of software updates (GB anyone...), and overall handled customer service better, I could've written off the G2X's problems as a normal consequence of being on the cutting edge technologically. Instead, I'm stuck pondering the inability of either company to own up to their mistakes and deal with them.
All in all, best of luck to you; I hope everything works out in your (and our) favor in the end.

Appeasement is what spawned the reign of Hitler. I personally like this guy's spine in the matter. We need more people like him. He seems to understand his financial limitations and if he thinks he has the money & effort to spend then why not let him..?
We should all be doing the same as this guy if it wasn't for the economic restraints... that and this country has somewhat more pressing issues like corruption to iron out before we can get to consumer protection unfortunately.

SimplyElectronics.net (Any idea how I could recover my money)

Ok, I guess the story with SimplyElectronics is very well known so please let's not go into the discussion of why I didn't choose a trusted seller. I used them because like anybody else I found the HTC One X 200eu cheaper than in my country.
Anyway, to get into the point. I bought this phone from them and there was a problem with GPS so they agreed to give me full refund when I send it back to them. I sent it back but they kept the phone and never gave me refund. I started Paypal dispute but they fooled them that they have never received the phone although they told me they received it in good order. After Paypal closed the case in their favour, they told me that they will give no money and no phone back. They told me to go to Paypal to give me my money back.
My question here goes to British people. Do you know of any collection service in the UK, legal or illegal, I don't care, even if it's the mafia, that's fine with me, who can do the collection for me, either by forcibly getting the phone back from them or the money? I have no other option unfortunately so this is my last resort and better than nothing. I know that I can have this kind of 'service' here so most probably there must be something similar in the UK.
No relatives in the UK? If you have then it might be an option to use them to take this company to the small claims court. I think the limit is £500 but I stand to be corrected.
Where are they based?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
No relatives but even if I had, I don't want to involve anyone with my problems. I prefer to give half the value to the mafia and get the other half. At least here, it is the only option to get justice. Police and the law fail, lawyers and courts will cost much more.
There are no "mafia's" here... lol

Your logic of "I've been robbed so ill pay even bigger criminals to rob the criminal who robbed me." is dumb
What would you do if that company was RUN by the mafia?
Why pay thugs who make other peoples lives miserable to try and make yours slightly less miserable?
Hopefully if you do pay them they will take your money and laugh at you too, or refuse to give you back your phone unless you pay them double its value.
How about you just dont be stupid in the future and keep away from funding or endorsing criminal activity at all.
Did you not send it back by recorded delivery. Was it signed for?

That's not the kind of mafia I was referring to. You may call them collection agents who do this as a job and have a good reputation. That's why I ask ebfore. Here I know where to find them and they won't laough at me. They make their living out of this and they need to be certain that they are acting with the side of justice and that you are not making them do something negatice i.e steal something from an innocent man. I guess you understand what I mean.
Yes, if someone was so stupid to go to someone they have no recommendation of, most probably what you say would happen. I was asking if anyone knows an agency that can be trusted.

Yes it was signed for but unfortunately UK postal service don't update online tracking information so Paypal cannot verify the delivery and they denied to Paypal that they received it although they acknowledged delivery to me. The postal survey to prove that it was delivered takes 2 month by the British postal service and the authorities here depend on them for the info so they can't help them. After 2 months Paypal will not bother with me.
Call the British post office. Recorded delivery for us is up to the value of 500 pound. I have had a friend have this problem on eBay. Paypal refused to pay. But the p.o refunded. Wasn't international delivery though

Is that th same as royal mail? if yes, I've emailed them long time ago but they don't even reply. Even from the Postal service here they tried to call them directly and they didn't help. They said, please follow the protocols and file in your reports. Which take 2 months to complete. I know they could provide the info easily but they don't want to do it.
If u can find out where simply electronics are based. I'll could probably get you the number for the local p.o
Yes I do mean royal mail. If it was recorderd (international signed for) u will be refunded. I work with a company that delivers via royal mail, inside and outside of england. Barcodes have to be scanned on picking up goods and signatures have to take place for the receiver. This is also recorded by p.o and they will have evidence that its signed for. Maybe calling direct may help

Do you have any idea how I could get written confirmation from Royal Mail that they have received it? But this has to be done within a week. Paypal told me I can appeal within 10 days if I get this report. I have 7 more days for this.
I will try calling them tomorrow morning then but I doubt they can provide written evidence. Maybe they just tell me that it has been received but I don't think they will give it written now. I will try though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks again for droping the idea. I called them today and although it was very hard to get through (all options where going to dead end and automated messages only), I finally mamaged to randomly select an option and they guy there was so helpful, that he even emailed me the receipt showing the name and signature of the guy who received the package. Imagine that with the official procedure that would take 2 months.
I forwarded this to Paypal but I don't know if they will accept it now. As I said, I believe that they prefer to stay with their side so let's wait and see their excuse this time. Normally there should be an appeal option in the clain page but for me it's missing and they can't tell me the reason. I attached the pdf on dropbox and now I just hope they will see it and be willing to help.
I'll keep you updated and I'm buying beers if I succeed
Thats good news mate. Well its a start anyway. Sorry for delayed reply. Im not sure that paypal will be very helpful. But you now have proof that they recieved it so perhaps you could talk to someone from simply electronics and threaten court proccedings they may buck up and refund u. After all... you have proof that they recieved the phone. Wheras they do not have proof of a refund or exchange. Therefore they will never win in court and will know this. U may even be compensated. Look up there small print about refunds. Gather up as much info about there policies as you can and prepare yourself to call them quoting there returns policy. Im quite sure if you went to court u wouldnt have to be there and all costs would go to simply.e

Good news. Paypal has accepted the information and reopened the case allowing me to appeal. They made a mistake though and showed that the seller appealed instead of buyer. Technically thinking, that worries me again. I notified them and now wait with my fingers crossed.
If they just want to help the scammer they may come back with a bunch of excuses but since I am now in this path, I want to be optimistic.
Im sure they will back you up on this one. I dont they they will risk themselves being in **** over a duspute you WILL eventually win. If they dont accept your appeal they may well be getting themselves into trouble. Seeing as you have provided them with written proof. Im sure they will ask s.e to provide there proof of refund or return. Which they cannot do. So i imagine they have the same time period as you "10 days" to provide thier evidence. So i guess its just another waiting game before you get your money or phone

Well chuffed for ya mate. Im no expert but im sure by this time next week the appeal will be resolved in your favour. As more often than not paypal will not reopen a case unless there was a strong chance of the appealer winning.

[Q] IMEI numbers matching phone and box?

Long story short.. I sold a phone on eBay with the original box. However, the phone was replaced twice due to sleep death issues. So it turns out that the phone I had sold IMEI number was different then that of the original sticker on the box. This is normal as when you replace a phone, they don't send you a whole new box, they just give you a new phone.
So my question is.. why would a buyer make a big deal about the box's IMEI number not matching the phone's IMEI number? I can only think that he's trying to re-sell it somehow to make a profit, but can't because the numbers don't match.
His reason is "because customs won't allow phones into Europe without the original box with IMEI numbers matching". Riiiiiiight
Anyone care to speculate? Thanks.
So basically, the buyer is saying customs will take apart the packaging to check the IMEI, and take the phone out to check the IMEI on the back of it? Plus, what about phones that weren't shipped with their original boxes?
The buyer is obviously lying/bsing.

Exactly. He said he was speaking with the airport and they would charge $30-$40 dollars to get some "copies" of proof of ownership so he wants to be compensated for this in a partial refund. When I asked him for the number to this airport so I could verify this obvious bs story myself.. he all of a sudden had to ask his friend for the number and would get back to me. And still hasn't 5 hours later.
Obviously, he's trying to do something dodgy here and wants to be compensated $30-40 for something that he screwed up on by not making sure the IMEI numbers match beforehand. I just can't figure out what.
if i were the buyer, and all that's true, i'd be saying to myself, 'dang i guess i shoulda checked on this intl shipping stuff first..."
just my own thoughts on the matter though...
i wouldnt expect every seller, especially a person, selling his own phone to know every countries or airports shipping procedures...
Since you said Ebay: I take it this is outside the return period (if you had one/stated no returns). Assuming the buyer is reputable himself: I'd ask for documented proof. Paypal would require this as well so you're just saying him the time before Paypal asks him the same thing. Cause yeah: this is sketchy.

Very true, although I don't claim to be an expert on such matters.. from what I understand.. customs doesn't actually open and physically inspect packages unless there's something really abnormal/illegal looking on the package. Imagine if customs actually physically inspected every single package that went through Europe on a daily basis. Not at all plausible.
But that really doesn't even matter in this case as he stated that he, himself, was going to Europe with the phone which made this all so much more bs-worthy.

I did state no returns and yeah I was going to ask him for proof.. but I figured it would be needed anyway if he files a dispute, so I just left that be. I just told him that I'm sorry he didn't verify this all before purchasing as if it was that critical to the sale, he should have made sure before purchasing. I also told him that I could not help any further as the phone works exactly as it should and his only problem is mis-matched IMEI numbers. Definitely sketchy.

this was a US to US transaction? i thought you shipped overseas... he doesn't have a leg to stand on... no part of your transaction said anything about what you do with it afterwards... or i warranty this, yada yada... it was no returns... i would imagine your sale outlined the phone in its condition... like you said, he should've inquired about that... he's taking it with him??? tell him throw the [email protected] box away....

Hahaha.. exactly my thoughts. XD And yes, US to US transaction. Then all of a sudden 2 weeks later he needs the original box to match the phone so he can bring it to Europe with him as a gift. Smh. People will make anything up when they screw up instead of just admitting they made a mistake. Oh well heh.

Unfortunately, eBay and PayPal always side with the buyer. Even if there is a stated "no returns" policy. To make everything supposedly even, they will tell him to ship it back to you, and you will have to refund the original price plus original shipping. You will both be out a little bit. Due to you already paying once for shipping, and him for having to pay to send it back.

Did you get any receipts or paperwork for the replacements. This may be enough if you can send him those as proof.

[Q] Whoops, Dont yell at me :(

So lets say.. (Hypothetically) that a "friend" of mine accidently installed a Sprint ROM (The dragon rom) on his verizon phone, the phone is completely inoperable and doesn't even turn on. like holding on the power button does nill, and trying to put it into download mode yeilds no results as well, would it be possible to play stupid and return the phone to verizon since it's not been two weeks yet since i've had it? or will they catch on that the phone's been tinkered with? any imput would be appreciated. keep the wrist slaps for an obvious mistake to a minimum please I swear i thought it was for the verizon variant lol.
If it wont turn on at all then you should be fine returning it. You should also follow what my sig says
Committing fraud is never good, especially when it's due to stupidity. Sorry OP, it's the truth. Man up and pay to get that JTAGGED by mobile tech videos.
Not everyone has money to throw around. I don't think a new phone replacement is gonna affect a huge corporation all that much.

If you don't have the money to spend on JTagging, you shouldn't be playing with fire on your rather expensive phone, IMHO.
I have sympathy for the OP's dilemma, but sometimes (depending on the circumstances, need to survive, etc.) we need to accept the consequences of our own actions and seek to avoid abusing policies that seem like part of a generic, abstractly large pot of abundance.
- ooofest
It doesn't affect the corporation, it affects the rest of us as consumers that purchase their products. They make up the loss with price increases. Retail stores do the same thing with stolen merchandise. Raise prices to offset the loss. I agree. Man up. Fraud is fraud and stealing is stealing. Makes no difference who its from. I'd never tell my kids its OK to lie, cheat, and steal as long as its from rich people lol.

Exactly. You you have to think in the aggregate.
And to be honest, if you have the money to pay for the most expensive carrier and the most expensive phone on said carrier you can probably spare $50-60 to fix your own mistake.
I personally don't think it's fraud.... All Verizon is gonna due is use it as a refurb (and how do you think they get refurbs?) Sometimes a company has to open up BRAND NEW phones to give out as refurbs aka replacements, because I used to work for Nextel, before Sprint ate them up.... I was a tech and I remember having to open up brand new phones just so we had stock for refurbs cause when you release a new phone refurbs are non-existent until months after a release... And Samsung will just fix the phone but that does NOT make up for the part of NOT reading and following the instructions before you flash something... Every mod or rom that I flash I automatically know that if my phone dies it is MY fault cause I am playin with fire but flashing a totally different carriers rom is just plain stupid and I was a noob at one point and I NEVER even thought of flashing something until I read about a million pages of how to's and guides etc. I am not trying to be a **** but why would you think it's okay to flash a Sprint rom on your phone?? You will get a free pass on this one and get a replacement phone but if you do it again than you may want to think about just running stock because I think every noob gets one freebie and this is yours so go get a replacement and READ READ READ and if you can't find your answer than keep READING.... I have never bricked a phone and I guess I am lucky but I certainly have never flashed another carriers rom on my phone either... Just my 2 cents... Good luck and READ!
EDIT: I do NOT condone FRAUD!! There are just different ways of looking at what fraud is and I don't think the OP would be committing fraud... imo
