Ok.. I was flashing Cognition to my captivate when the usb cable can unplugged in the middle of flashing factoryfs.rfs.
I can't even get the phone to power on at all... No connect to computer icon, no recovery screen, no download screen, nothing no screen at all.
Any way to recover this? I tried several things
* Three Button combo
* VOL+ & VOL- while pgugging in usb
* remove battery and sim
* etc...
Here's the ODIN log.

Thanks for this. I had just started flashing back to stock when I realized I forgot to disable voodoo. Pulled a total noob move, pulled the cable without thinking. Instant brick. I'm going to call this "the Lazarus method" from now on lol.

That is as far as it gets and its been plugged in for over 5 minutes just sitting there. I got impatient and removed the battery and unpluged the USB which probably wasn't the best idea ever. Sometimes going into download mode I get usb device not recognized and I no longer get the download screen to come up anymore its a bunch of dots now and other times odin sees the phone but no matter what it still gets stuck sitting at Initialzation. Any ideas on how I can get something to flash on it?
Edit: And now Odin cannot see it at all.
Edit2: Tried a different USB port it sees it and I attempted to flash again but its stuck on partitioning.

Hi Guys,
Verizon model is protected from flashing unsigned/modified boot.img and recovery.img. Which means there is no known root method as for now for SCH-I535.
Stay tuned for more informations as we are doing research now.

well brother, i have already run out of thanks for the day, but thanks
have you seen any flash failures in Odin on the GSIII due to battery being in or out? With the Charge you had to have the battery out while entering download mode, then immediately place battery in before flashing or it would fail everytime.
Also, how exactly do you enter download mode for the new guys?
fails here...

suggestions?
Everyone is using the latest Odin provided correct?
Same as the last two posts. Failed twice.
correct, and teh phone is telling me secure check fail ; boot
I am going to have to ask again.....what exactly is the process of entering download mode? Do you have to pull and replace the battery at any point in order to avoid failed flashes?
Updating for GSIII
Turn off phone
connect USB cable from PC to phone while holding down volume down button, home button and power button simultaneously until android logo appears
press volume up button
see that Odin detected and connected to the device
flash file using PDA button
profit?
I was unable to get the phone into download mode without the battery in. I tried volume down/power as well as volume down/home/power while plugging in the usb cable. All I ever got was a single vibration but no warning triangle.

well my description above was based on a previous handset.....so not surprised
I got into Odin download mode by holding volume down, home and power. I had to do it about 3 times before I got it right. However, that was for another purpose, and I have NOT tried to flash this image.

it was a yellow triangle on older phones, the green android is correct for the GSIII, that's download mode, how did you enter it? i see above others have done volume down, home and power together....updated my OP
Holding volume down/home/power should bring up the green triangle. Then you press volume up to go into Odin mode.

You need to be in download mode, then connect phone , put kernel.tar as PDA and flash.
Report any issues, i dont have this version of phone. It will not break it, in worst case u will need to flash oryginal kernel (which you can take from full stock rom post).

Yea that's what I'm doing, is it possible Verizon slid a file check in there?

So once in download mode, not one has had luck with this root?
whenever i try to turn it on it gets the little phone followed with caution symbol followed with computer symbol it happened after tring to flash a recovery in odin a few times and kept failing and now whenever i try to flash stock rom from samsung or anything in odin it will say nand write fail
what am i supposed to do?
Go to imnuts.org
And download ee4 and pit file..
Run them at the same time.
I'm assuming that you know how to run odin.
And know to unzip the ee4
And so on..

Did you check Re-Partition and un-check Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time?
Click on Pit and add your Pit file.
Verify the MD5 checksum before you added the EP4 file into PDA. Bad downloads do happen sometimes.
Pull the battery to enter download mode then replace it before flashing. That nand write fail thing is what happens if you flash without the battery.

Hi all,
Been searching these forums for the past 3 hours and trying numerous options and still haven't been able to fix my problem.
Long story short, dropped S6 in water, turned off and left in rice bag for 2 weeks.
Tried to turn on today and it only boots to download mode, everything else just reboots the phone. Also it will only turn on when connected to USB so i'm guessing the battery is dead also.
My main concern is I have photos that I really want to try and recover and yes I know I know, always have a backup, as a desktop technician I really should have had that setup on my phone but here we are.
So my main target is to somehow get into recovery mode and then use ADB to pull files from the phone.
I've tried to flash many different recovery files but they always fail in Odin v3.10.7, log for Odin is:

Any help would be appreciated!

A long time ago my s2 got stuck in download mode after getting wet, back then it was caused by some corrosion in the usb port. I fixed it by trying to scrape it clean with a usb cable, you could also try isopropylalcohol (even let it soak in there for a few days)
btw the s2 continued working up until this day (a friend now has it)

I heard of this isopropylalcohol, so just fill a jar and drop phone in for few days? And then back in rice?
Spent 2 weeks drying the thing out, kind of worried to attempt this.
But as I've nothing to lose!

I think isopropyl alcohol doesn't conduct, so no short circuits and no need to dry but from my experience with keyboards which got wet and not dried properly those thin contacts and flex cables are very prone to just corroding through and through.
Hi all,
Long story short, phone got water damage, left in rice for month, tried to boot and it shows Samsung logo and reboots.
Tried several things which I'll list below, never got anywhere and I'd throw the phone back in a drawer and then a few months later I'd take it out and give it another go
Already have replacement but was looking to hopefully get family photos off it (yes I backup everything now)
So i've tried the following different Odin versions:
3.09, 3.10.6 + 3.12.3
I've downloaded my firmware version G920IDVU3FQF5_G920IVNZ3FQF1_VNZ from SamMobile webite and flashed with that.
Still same issue.
After flashing firmware I have also tried the following different versions of TWRP:
twrp-2.8.6.0-zeroflte.img
twrp-2.8.6.1-zeroflte.img
twrp-2.8.6.2-zeroflte.img
twrp-3.1.1-0-zeroflte.img
Still same issue although I do get the red text "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" along side Samsung Logo but reboots as always.
If only I could get into Recovery I could then mount SD and hopefully get access to photos.
Also tried using ADB to push and pull but no go :silly:
Am I missing something stupid?
I do have the pit file for my model but I'm under the impression it re-partitions everything and I'm guessing that would lose all data so I haven't tried that.
Also tried Samsung Smart Switch but it doesn't find the phone as I can only get it in Download Mode.
Any help would be appreciated :good:

Still no recovery, the phone doesn't hold a charge anymore so it could be a motherboard issue too.
Doesn't turn on at all if not plugged into charger or PC. As soon as I plug it in it shows Android logo and reboots instantly.
Holding Volume Up + Power + Home does nothing, phone just keeps rebooting.
Only when I hold Volume Down + Power + Home does it show the warning screen and I can then choose Volume Up to Continue or Down to Cancel and reboot.
Think I've reached the limit with this phone

You holded phone in rice for a month etc, but while phone were in water battery was still connected to mobo, and that could makes shocks on mobo and now something can be just burned. And every battery after contact with water will don't hold charge as should
