Hi Guys,

well brother, i have already run out of thanks for the day, but thanks
have you seen any flash failures in Odin on the GSIII due to battery being in or out? With the Charge you had to have the battery out while entering download mode, then immediately place battery in before flashing or it would fail everytime.
Also, how exactly do you enter download mode for the new guys?

fails here...

suggestions?

Everyone is using the latest Odin provided correct?

Same as the last two posts. Failed twice.

correct, and teh phone is telling me secure check fail ; boot

I am going to have to ask again.....what exactly is the process of entering download mode? Do you have to pull and replace the battery at any point in order to avoid failed flashes?
Updating for GSIII
Turn off phone
connect USB cable from PC to phone while holding down volume down button, home button and power button simultaneously until android logo appears
press volume up button
see that Odin detected and connected to the device
flash file using PDA button
profit?

I was unable to get the phone into download mode without the battery in. I tried volume down/power as well as volume down/home/power while plugging in the usb cable. All I ever got was a single vibration but no warning triangle.

well my description above was based on a previous handset.....so not surprised

I got into Odin download mode by holding volume down, home and power. I had to do it about 3 times before I got it right. However, that was for another purpose, and I have NOT tried to flash this image.

it was a yellow triangle on older phones, the green android is correct for the GSIII, that's download mode, how did you enter it? i see above others have done volume down, home and power together....updated my OP

Holding volume down/home/power should bring up the green triangle. Then you press volume up to go into Odin mode.

Sorry jamesnmandy, I misread your earlier posts. I thought you were suggesting other methods, not that you were asking how to get to download mode on the s3.

nope, no problem, I found it was probably going to confuse people so i edited it to reflect the correct method for the GSIII, thanks

Any body having any luck with this method?

You need to be in download mode, then connect phone , put kernel.tar as PDA and flash.
Report any issues, i dont have this version of phone. It will not break it, in worst case u will need to flash oryginal kernel (which you can take from full stock rom post).
Adam

Yea that's what I'm doing, is it possible Verizon slid a file check in there?

So once in download mode, not one has had luck with this root?

Soft Brick Help?

I just got a SGS2 Skyrocket and was using odin. It didn't make any progress for 3 hours so I unplugged (I know not to but I didn't know an alternative either). Anyway, I am now getting the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Error message. I read in another thread that I should re-enter Odin to try to fix it, but I can no longer get into download mode. What's the next step here? I know this topic has been discussed, but I really want to make sure I do this right.
When you see that "error" screen you should be in download mode. If not do this. Pull battery and reinsert. Hold the up /down volume and plug in USB. Should kick you into download mode.

Yup, despite the error message you're seeing you should still be able to flash the stock .tar. The phone won't look like it's doing anything--you'll still see the error message--but if Odin sees it you should be fine.
I had this happen to me too and it worked fine.
Well I am at the step where you insert the TAR file for the PDA slot on odin and I can only get this far:
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

<ID:0/003> boot.img
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> recovery.img

I used the i727 TAR instead of the i727R TAR file. That's the only thing I can imagine changing to make this work.
Am I suppose to be choosing a ROM at this point as well? Where do I get a pit file if I need one?
Here is process.

Same Problem
Hey im new at this and i'm having the same problem. my issue is i have the error message and did what you guys said and reattempted Odin. it recognizes the phone and says
<ID:0/004>Complete(Write) operation failed.
and above the yellow box in Odin is a red box that says Fail!
i have tried this a few times and this is the only result i get.
i think i might have done something wrong with the tar file, i downloaded the correct one and i used 7-Zip to convert the rar to tar and odin now recognizes the file but idk if i was supposed to do that. Any help is greatly appreciated!
sorry for being an idiot i figured out what i did wrong
Yes you must unzip the. 7z file the tar is inside. Unzip it with 7zip then run odin and select the unzips tar file in the pda section of odin

Recovery is not seandroid enforcing

Hi,
I've just gotten my new s6 and I found there was a bit too much bloatware on it so I went ahead and tried to root it using CF-Autoroot.
I went into download mode, opened up Odin and tried flashing it. It said passed, then when it booted up it got stuck on the samsung logo and said "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" at the top.
I had the latest software update on my s6 (which came out like a couple of days ago), this is probably why it didn't work. I've tried flashing this "stock firmware" I found on the net with Odin but it gets stuck on "Setupconnection".
Any help is well appreciated.
Try a different cable, or try rooting with unikernel, it might boot up after that

My problem doesn't lie within Odin, it's just that I'm bricked and no matter what I try it does not work.
I tried to flash Unikernel and I've also tried flashing TWRP as well as quite some full stock ROMs, nothing seems to be working. I'm out of ideas.
This is what I get when I try to install a full stock rom

I fixed it, TWRP was installing correctly but it would boot into normal mode before I was able to get into recovery.

GT-N8010 - Stuck on Downloading... Do not turn off target!! screen after KIES update

Ok so I'm new at this. Just downloaded Kies and it suggested to upgrade firmware (probably to 4.4.2 from 4.1.2 - google told me). With the tablet connected it downloaded and installed (as per the Kies notifications on my PC) and then it said that the device would reboot and then I would need to disconnect and connect the device again.
However, after like 20 mins or so the tablet never rebooted, or did anything, (the blue bar had completed and there was nothing else on the screen except for Downloading... Do not turn off target!!!...)
And it's been like this ever since... I did google some stuff and downloaded the firmware (N8000XXUDNH2_N8000OJVDNH1_N8000XXUDNH1_HOME.tar - 4.4.2 Kitkat - UAE Region) and then odin (v 3.10.7) and tried to unbrick it or whatever but after the odin shows that my device is Added!! and verifies the firmware I've downloaded is fine (leave CS), it keeps failing after I press start.
The tablet isn't turning off, or rebooting. The only thing it's doing is if I press the power and volume up button and keep it pressed, it reboots and shows me the same screen again but this time, it has this written in the corner:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N8010
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
AP SWREV: A2
I tried using odin while this is displayed as well, but it still keeps failing.
Can anyone help please?
Question 1 what model do you have ??
Firmware you show is N8000
Odin shows product asN 8010 .

Could be a bad downloaded file .

I literally, for the life of me, can not boot into twrp recovery to install supersu. i've watched all the videos and after twrp is flashed the phone booths directly into twrp. my phone reboots normally and i have to turn it off and turn it back on holding volume + up, which ig boots into the regular boot up? it tries to install something, fails, and then goes to the i guess regular boot up. People have even suggested holding volume+up after twrp is flashed but the phone reboots normally anyway. I dont know what im doing wrong I cant get it to boot into twrp. please help

Soon as u see pass is how i do it,vol down, home, and power.hold till goes black.then slide vol to up position while u hold the other buttons. Hold till u see twrp booting.DO NOT use vol up first and whatever buttons he said it is NOT correct actually at all.,sorry to the dude who said to do that i mean no disrespect but u are incorrect. Also, make sure u format data, then flash root zip then encryption breaker then reboot if not u will be screwed and not be able to make nandroids. I have posted this on both j7 twrps numerous times. Good luck and sometimes it takes a couple times.
Make sure you have just the right version of TWRP man. I've had this happen the first time. Some versions are for the other J7 models. Get one from the j700t development thread and flash it again. Make sure as soon as you flash TWRP and Odin reboots the device, pull out the battery as soon as you see the Samsung splash screen. This is to prevent stock from overwriting the recovery. Finally, press and hold power up, home and power until it finally boots into TWRP. Message me if this doesn't work
Both versions work on our phone
J700t
Put this file in Odin and it should work for you.
I used it for both of my j700t. download.chainfire.eu/1138/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-j7eltetmo-j7eltetmo-smj700t.zip
You will need to copy and paste this to Google I can't post links.
Also those twrp files don't work on some of these j7 devices for reasons unknown to me.

SM-G920I stuck in boot loop, only boots into Download Mode

Hi all,
Long story short, phone got water damage, left in rice for month, tried to boot and it shows Samsung logo and reboots.
Tried several things which I'll list below, never got anywhere and I'd throw the phone back in a drawer and then a few months later I'd take it out and give it another go
Already have replacement but was looking to hopefully get family photos off it (yes I backup everything now)
So i've tried the following different Odin versions:
3.09, 3.10.6 + 3.12.3
I've downloaded my firmware version G920IDVU3FQF5_G920IVNZ3FQF1_VNZ from SamMobile webite and flashed with that.
Still same issue.
After flashing firmware I have also tried the following different versions of TWRP:
twrp-2.8.6.0-zeroflte.img
twrp-2.8.6.1-zeroflte.img
twrp-2.8.6.2-zeroflte.img
twrp-3.1.1-0-zeroflte.img
Still same issue although I do get the red text "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" along side Samsung Logo but reboots as always.
If only I could get into Recovery I could then mount SD and hopefully get access to photos.
Also tried using ADB to push and pull but no go :silly:
Am I missing something stupid?
I do have the pit file for my model but I'm under the impression it re-partitions everything and I'm guessing that would lose all data so I haven't tried that.
Also tried Samsung Smart Switch but it doesn't find the phone as I can only get it in Download Mode.
Any help would be appreciated :good:

Still no luck after CF-Auto-Root and then latest TWRP....
Tried to flash firmware again.
With Odin v3.10.6 - flashed G920IDVU3FQF5_G920IVNZ3FQF1_G920IDVU3FQF1_HOME.tar.md5

HERE you got all. Try latest stock firmware which you get via SamFirm. But BTW I don't wish good future for that phone after swimming in water
Used Odin v3.12.7 and flashed latest firmware > CF-Auto-Root > latest TWRP
No difference....still only boots to download mode.

Try to hold Volume - + Home + Power for 30 sec and when phone restart (when you see Samsung logo) directly switch from Volume - to Volume + but hold also another two buttons, you should get recovery menu.

Still no recovery, the phone doesn't hold a charge anymore so it could be a motherboard issue too.
Doesn't turn on at all if not plugged into charger or PC. As soon as I plug it in it shows Android logo and reboots instantly.
Holding Volume Up + Power + Home does nothing, phone just keeps rebooting.
Only when I hold Volume Down + Power + Home does it show the warning screen and I can then choose Volume Up to Continue or Down to Cancel and reboot.
Think I've reached the limit with this phone

You holded phone in rice for a month etc, but while phone were in water battery was still connected to mobo, and that could makes shocks on mobo and now something can be just burned. And every battery after contact with water will don't hold charge as should
