hi,
anyone notice this problem, im running ffboys manilla rom(see my signature)
When i use a program called CleanRam, level 3 and selecting UI/Shell Htc Sense, my phone suddenly loses signal! I tried using comm manager switch on the phone, then off, still no signal. i have tested various times. I tried cleaning ram when the phone is on flight mode then later switching phone network on. the phone will not gain signal. Then i tried custom mode, and selected the processes :
manilla.exe, AutoKeylock.exe and ManillaStartMenu.exe (i disabled start menu, using Kenia1234 sense start menu). when i clean those, the phone dialer doesnt work, BUT i have signal. without the phone dialer, i cant make or recieve calls.
can anyone pls suggest a fix, or an alternative app, that will help me free up RAM.
Thanks.
Try sktools freeup Ram. ul be sufficient with it.
use level 2 , it works great with me

i like some of the today screen programs with shortcut icons that you can use to access your most used programs, i tried trials of both phoneAlarm & Spb Pocket Plus. i have a sx66 through cingular, and my question is, through either of these 2 programs or any other programs is there a quick way to turn off the phone? thanks...
Try this file.
Worked for me quite well on my magician.
I have it combined with tdlaunch to launch application out of the today screen.....
it only disables my radio, never turns it back on. is this suppose to do both?
Yes it should. For me on my magician it´s working.
First run -> turning it off
Second run -> turning it on

Here's a link to another program that does the same. There's a similiar program for turning on/off bluetooth.

thanks jabberwock, this program works without any problems, and does exactly what i need it to do. thanks again...
i have an artemis p3300 (or xda III in other countries) for over 1 month now.
some things i like and i dislike.
pro : -scrollbal and ring are incredible
-backlight and screen is great
-wifi, gprs, mobile part en gps works perfect
-slim case
-sound is incredible loud.
cons: -omap processor is a bit slow (even overclocked at 252) for multimedia
like streaming video or gaming
- to little ram memory..there is not much left after installing the default
applications so forget skinning
so overal for a business user, it,s the perfect phone. For a home user who wants to modifie
everything or loves the multimedia it;s to slow and to little ram to give comfort.
To give you an idea..my previous phone is a axim x5 advanced and it's still faster then this phone.
questions?
- can windows messenger get the ppc out of his sleep like the mobile part of the phone can?
- Why is wifi falling out when i put the phone in sleep?
- when wifi fails (to far from wifirouter) it goes automaticly to gprs. I don;t want that and i just want wifi to keep trying a connection. Now i switch the mobile part off when i surf the net.Any solutions?
- My old dell also has a wificard in it..can i communicate between the two devices over wifi..and what are the possibilities that i could do (exemple: using it as intercom or viewing the camera live stream from the artemis?)
please give me your ideas or solutions.
thanks in advance
Ok here are some answers:
First, I think you are confusing RAM and flash here. In WM 5 the apps are not installed in RAM but on flash (internal storage). If you don't have enough of that (nobody does) get a storage card (2GB should do fine).
As for RAM, according to specs it has 64MB same as all the devices in the last couple of years (except a few cheap ones with 32MB).
The biggest problem with skinning is not so much memory as CPU. Even if I had a 520MHz device (like say Asus 525) I still would not use it.
- As for messenger if you are logged on you will hear a beep when someone sends you a message but the screen doesn't come on. There may be a setting for this, I haven't checked.
- This is default for HTC devices as far as I've seen. Standby switches WiFi off (I guess to conserve power).
- You can put your WiFi connection and GPRS connection under different networks and switch through Settings->Connections->Connections->Advanced->Network selection. Don't know any good solution for this though.
- Generally PPCs cant establish an Ad-hock WiFi network. There are no server components on the devices. But I did see an app awhile ago that connects two devices by WiFi to create a intercom / walkie-talkie kind of thing. Don't remember the name.
thanks for the reply.
after clean installation and a few other small soft i need to install in the storage memory..i have 4.92 mb storage free and 24.29 mb program free.
on my dell i could free up more storage space with a slider but now it's inpossible cause there is no slider anymore in wm5?. And yes i have a 1 gig storage card voor most of the soft and offcourse tomtom. So when i want to install a bigger program (even on my microsdcard) it says i have not enough working space anymore.
So where is that slider? or how do i solve this.
and is there any soft so i could see whats installed in flash or other memory?
last question..i loved theme switcher from microsoft..but it works only half on wm5..are there new versions of it. The problem is when i go in the preferences of theme switcher it always scans my whole network of computers to finds tks files.
thanks
Have you been using the device on the internet? if so start the internet explorer program Meue/ Tools/ Options select the Memory Tab and select both the History and delete files buttons. Does this clear some memory for usage? - Mike
Mike..i did even better, I surf with opera and it's all installed on my memory card. I have installed memaid so i can see what's taken up so much memory, but i still have no idea where it is installed. Oke, i know bij names that most of it is installed on my memory card but thats all.
I am about 4 weeks into Touch Pro ownership and I have some days when the battery is dead before lunch. I think that sometimes the GPS isn't shutting off when I exit my sat-nav (it used to do this on my Kaiser, but I had a handy flashing LED to tell me it was in operation). TO doesn't have this useful feature - how can I tell if it is still running?
I have looked for a titlebar icon or something but nothing. Any ideas?
Start -> Settings -> Task Manager
It tells you what is running.
i would agree task manager, but..
found the local task managers on the htc devices very basic and not very helpful ..i had similar problems with battery drain and used this relevant task manager to find the culprits.( which i am sure ,you might have on device already or otherwise download from here http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-task-manager.html (free ), for me its more detailed ..to check processes running, rather than check for applications running ,etc..good luck
See the running apps in Task manager of settings.

No, you misunderstand. When I exit the SatNav software, the application ends, and isn't in the task manager, but I suspect that the GPS chip is still powered up doing its GPS thang and draining my battery. The Kaiser has a flashing LED that tells you the GPS is in operation so I know it can run without an associated app.
Basically I want a flashing LED like I had on the Kaiser, but a software version.
I'll try willcor's suggestion...
My Trinity/P3600 does the same thing. The software opens the port which fires up the GPS circuitry. But closing it doesn't always shut it down, and it's pretty greedy on the power. My solution is a soft reset when you are through with the GPS app.
Another great battery drainer, but not GPS, is if you are on a similar strength signal boundary between two GSM base stations. My house is a prime example. Minor fluctuations in signal, has the phone constantly requesting a cell transfer from one to the other. Two minutes later it wants to switch back. Put an FM radio next to it and you can here the periodic dit-dit-dit dit-dit-dit radio backchat flattening the battery.
plse ,check again...process, not applications...
in the task manager, ..to recap ,in my previous entry, i said that the htc task managers are basic ..
you cannot see any processes or cpu usage etc, etc... in default htc task manager ? , only open applications ?
,now you could have closed an application (or you could think so, but it is still open in process and if you have a decent task manager, you can access these functions.and terminate it....so you do need a good third party task manager ,not just go and look in default task manager and think its ok.
example, have found personally on many occasion that i have closed an application ,and my phone keeps connecting to internet for some reason ...
on checking, with a decent task manager i found ,no application open .. but just to find it still open in the process tab..? terminated it and problem sort out .(remember there is a lot of software that have bugs ,errors ,or just bad software or not compatible with your phone..?? )
further, other software also drained my battery and same story ..application checked ..nothing ,but found relevant culprit ,i thought i closed, open in process..!!
now i am not saying this is your answer...but if you want to get anywhere ,first get decent 3rd party , task manager of you choice, that you could check further than just applications..!!
good luck
.
Hi all,
I need a Simple Disconnecting app ! No other funktions ..One That Really Works !
I have used CommMgrPro_V2.7. and its To advanced and i dont need all that stuff! you have to read a manual to use that app!
I have used WM Loonglife 0,65-0287
and for me it DOSENT work !
I have Reinstalled the Phone Completly (Hard Reset) 3 times.. and that app Just Dosent work!
I want it to be 3G, but its Always 2G!
I want it to Dissconect Idle Connections, But Nope!
And yes i have tested every mode, and read the forum about that app and all tips ..But it simply dosent work..
So is There any other Simple app to spare my Battery and disconnect idle connections ?
you can try using BandSwitch 1.2.3. Thats the last free version. Install it, open the utility, check "close idle conn" and set the time to 60 sec or whatever you prefer. Hit, "Hide Page" and soft reset. It auto starts and runs in the background so once you have it setup like above, no need to change anything.
I have problem with my Froyo Android and 2.6.25 kernel (but it was similar on .32).
I can turn ON WiFi and connect to my home network, but it has problems with loading pages (it wont load page at all most of the time, I only loaded google.cz once) and I cant even login into Google acc and Market.
My WiFi is working on notebook or other phone, but cant make it work on my Polaris and Android.
Anyone know how to fix this? Maybe some WiFi settings that Android or Cruise cant handle? Or some other fix or suggestion?
Thank you for all tips...
it wasn't kernel releated, try to change release (Fresh Froyo, Scoot's, Clemsys's)
I have tryed a few builds, but it seems to be allways the same. Wifi is connected but cant load any pages, when I restarted phone, it loads 1 page just after restart and then nothing again all the time (I cant even reload the same page again).
Its probably some settings or maybe hardare problem? I really dont know what to do or how could I test where is a problem. Probably only option is to flash WM 6.5 back and try to do something there... but still I dont know how to test if its maybe hardare problem.
So I have tryed WM 6.5 again and Wi-Fi works great there. I am glad its not hardware problem, but still it would be great to make it work on Android.
I cant access Market or sign-in account and Android is useless because of that, since USB connection also doesnt work :-/
So after I was sure WiFi is working in WM 6.5, I have tryed another Android again.
With clemsyn's RC1 build and 2.6.32 kernel I was able to at least log into Google account and access market. But WiFi is very slow only 1kB/s at max and drops a lot. I wasnt able to download Opera from market after 3hrs mainly because of disconnects. Sometimes it also crashes and show startup animation.
Now I know problem is in Android OS only, but I still dont know what to do to fix it or if it can be fixed at all (if not I have to flash WM back again :-/).
So noone has an idea?
I would be glad for any tips, because I tryed everything I found, but Internet is still dead :-/
Also with Radio 1.58.21.23 you still have that problem?
Yes, even with this radio ( 1.58.21.23) it remains exactly the same. I didnt re-flash system after latest radio update, because I dont have enough battery left for flash, so I hope it wont mind.
I will re-flash soon anyway because I am trying different setups all the time now
Only little difference seems to be between 2.6.32. and 2.6.25 kernels. While in .25 it never loads any page, in .32 I am able to load google homepage after a lot of trying (but nothing else).
I am allways downloading these throught Atools, because I dont know how to prepare different POLAIMG.NBH by myself, so I only tested two versions available there.
I dont know if it doesnt load page at all or if its sooo slow that loading timeouts. Is there any utlity where I could see if packets are being send or received? On the other hand it doesnt solve anything anyway.
But it can connect to WiFi site and with .32 it even transfer google page sometimes, so it somehow "works" and transfers some packets occasionally.
Sad thing is, that there arent much settings in Android system, so I cant play with that. I also tryed different settings on my WiFi router, but it didnt help at all.
if you use adb and ping google did you have time out?
I never used adb, but I cant find any console or link to shell in my ROM.
Should I install Android SDK and adb driver in Win or can I access it somehow in my phone?
I have downloaded "Better Terminal Emulator Pro" and "Terminal Emulator" and installed from SD card.
In command line I write
Code:
su
ping 74.125.87.104
after a few tries where I get 100% packet loss, I manage to get better results:
Code:
--- 74.125.87.104 ping statistics ---
72 packets transmitted, 9 packets received, 87% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 158.338/328.306/1143.300 ms
similar on other website, also only after a few tries:
Code:
--- 77.75.72.3 ping statistics ---
51 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 94% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 1003.263/1090.418/1141.900 ms
Seems to be a problem with the connection with router...
How many devices are connected to it?
Do all devices work good?
Router itself isn't a problem. Only 1 or 2 devices are connected to it and they are all mine (notebook and mobile phone).
I thought it may be a problem, that Android port for Polaris cant handle my settings, so I tried different settings, but it was the same.
Router works well with LG Optimus One (Froyo) and even with my Polaris, only with WM 6.5.3 ROM and of course my notebook works well too.
I wonder where could be the problem as most of Polaris users have working WiFi. I dont thinkI have any different part of hardware in it and I changed all software related things many times ROM, radio, kernel.
PS: results above are with kernel 2.6.32 I believe with 2.6.25 I would have 100% packet loss all the time. As change of kernel is only thing so far that have some impact on this issue I think it could be with some setting in there. I dont know what things can be changed in there or how I could try different versions, so I only tried three versions (two that I can select in Atools) and one that came with Eclair ROM.
So I have found where can be a problem and it rly seems to be hardware releated.
As I said before, in WM 6.5 WiFi works well, but I found its only because there is option to set "Best Wi-Fi Performance (May consume more power)" in advanced settings of WiFi.
When I turn this option off, I get similar results like in Android. Wi-Fi is very slow, so it wont even load page.
I cant find similar option in Android settings, so I want to ask if there is similar option in Android hidden somewhere or maybe some shell command or file edit, how I can change it?
try to extract wifi_levels.sh from K_K vaniljeclair and change the level.
Hi,
I set it to "extreme" and it seems to be working!!!
Thank you VERY much for all your help.
