[Q] HTC Desire fail after OTA update - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I've been using my unbranded HTC Desire for a few months now, did the OTA update to Android 2.2 about a month ago. About 5 days ago I got a notification that there was an update available, I started the installation, got an error that it could not back up my data and acknowledged that but to my surprise it continued to perform the installation. Now the phone reboots about every 2 minutes, the status bar shows no connection even when I'm surfing the web, checking e-mail or answering a call. After kicking it back to factory defaults at the advice of HTC I had no change in conditions. ATT naturally said an HTC what? Flash a ROM, what’s a ROM (HTC recommended that move as well). So I figured well I'll flash the ROM myself, only problem with that idea is I can't create a gold card because the device does not recognize the SD card. I put the SD card in a Samsung GalaxyS and it reads it fine. I used several WWE bravo trying to flash it across the usb but it failed stating the ROM was not correct for my hardware.
Any help finding a ROM I can flash across a USB or any other ideas you may have would be of great help.

You could downgrade HBOOT 0.92 to 0.80 and maybe install an older update rom to see if it changes your situation, it might work!

[Q] Crash after ROM Flash Help!!!

Hi Guys,
I literally feel sick to my stomach how dumb I've been.
I've basically fallen foul of the temptation to upgrade my HTC Desire S from the standard supplied gingerbread 2.3 to the hydrogen v1.9 saga v3 zip file (2.3.1.).
It’s crashed on me now all I have is the white HTC welcome screen.
I had installed the revolutionary.io s-off tool and rooted it. Everything seemed ok for about 3 weeks then I started to get intermittent phone call cut out and today it’s just frozen at the HTC logo on white background.
Today I have attempted to restore a backup file that I had made, to recovery it through the Revolutionary tool and it installed back to a low tech interface. I then tried to install over the hydrogen ROM again without success. Now it has 5 errors on the Rev tools’ opening page.
A mixture of;
Can’t mount/open recovery log/command/last log.
I don’t know what the hell to do any suggestions from you good altruistic folk?!!
Shall I try a factory reset?
I’d be very thankful of any suggestions. I just wished I’ waited for ICS, curiosity got the better of me
It sounds like an issue with your eMMc. The only way to recover is attempting to flash a stock ruu through hboot. If that doesn't work, it is likely nothing will. Stock RUU's can be found at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506 Good luck.
HI,
I am getting multiple installation errors when trying to clear/wipe/format cache/ system/ data etc.
I have tried installing Cyanogen ROM and installtion was aborted
I'm now trying to install a stock RUU as your suggestion. I don't know which one to choose the orange (I'm on Orange Network but no logo branding on phone) uk one I tried just wouldn't run and aborted and requexted an error mesaage. I'm now trying to install the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5, one if thatg doesn't work any ideas which one I should go for?
Cheers

[Q] HTC Sensation Z710E ICS update problems

Folks,
My phone is rooted, h-boot. I can't load any custom roms, so I decided to just stick with the stock rom. I received the OTA ICS updated today in the US (t-mobile) and tried to update. It errors out giving me the exclamation sign and green android logo. I've done research and tried to flash the RUU, I've tried several RUU that I thought fits my phone description. Apparently not the case though. Any thoughts and help would be appreciated.
Here is my specs:
phone: HTC Sensation Z710e European non-branded T-mobile
on 2.3.4
Software: 1.50.401.1
baseband: 10.56.9035.OOU_10.14.9035.01_M
The OTA ICS update I received this morning is the following name:
OTA_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_R-1.50.401.1_release_252072fll6erq
It was told at least a million times, that never install official OTAs on a rooted phone. Search the sticky/guide threads for solution.
And when flashing the correct RUU flash it from fastboot and make sure you have HTC drivers (come with HTC Sync) installed.
What's worse case scenario installing official OTA update on rooted phone? I don't care if i lose root or not. I just want ICS.
Problems without root
Hi,
I'm getting the same problem on an un-rooted phone.
The phone died half-way during the update download due to power outage/low battery.
So I deleted the old update file, which was half-downloaded and ran "Check for updates" again. This time it downloaded the complete file, but when it begins installation it's stuck for hours at the Android logo. The update doesn't seem to be installing. Had to re-boot the phone to get the old ROM back without ICS.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Some phones don't like the update mine didn't if you want to try

[Q] Installing OTA update / reinstalling stock recovery

Hey,
I have a telus HTC One S and they just released the Android v 4.1.1 (my current is 4.0.3)
I've rooted my phone and installed CWM. But i would like to undo this to install the new ota update to this version. I assume this means i will have to :
remove super User
lock my boot loader using fast boot
Then using the RUU_Ville_U_TELUS_WWE_1.70.661.1_Radio_0.16.31501S.02_10.18.31501S.08L_release_254554_signed.exe
file install the stock recovery and rom?
Is this correct or am i missing something.

Right, go for it.

.
You don't need to re-lock bootloader. Just remove superuser and restore stock recovery, then you are ready for OTA update.
So It worked but I encountered another issue, after the update was done my phone was unable to stay connected to the telus network.
it will connect to 4g with almost full bars for about 2 mins of which i can use data then it will disconnect me entirely, I can't search for the network or automatically configure it.
I took it to telus the sales guy played around with it reset the setting, nothing, then he Gave me a new sim (said it fixed his htc one which he did the same update last week) but it didn't work for me.
Does anyone know why this is happening or how i might fix it. They want me to sent my phone into for repairs but I don't want a loner phone for the 3 weeks it takes them to fix it.
I'm tempted to run the RUU again and sent my phone back to the stock 4.0.3 from 4.1.1 to see if it works and then try upgrading again.
Any advice?
maybe clear cache and possibly check the apn setting.
I tried that, and even factory recoveries with no luck so i returned it to Telus and hopefully it'll be repaired, It says re-locked and the tampered was removed so hopefully i don't get my warranty void'd if it is i'm sure i can down grade to the original os then load a custom rom and it should work
Just got my phone back from HTC
Despite having previously rooted my phone, they repaired it with no questions, and for free. Turns out my phone had a defective mainboard so once i updated the defect affected the phones ability to connect to the wireless network or something. But with the replaced board and with the new software update its working perfectly again.

[Q] Failure to install custom ROM or RUU

Hey all! This is my first post here since i got my htc one S 2 days ago. I have read quite a bit on how to install custom roms and everything.
The very first ROM i installed was the venom viperOneS OTA 2.1.0 and it ran well until i noticed that my camera was not working. Not even through other apps that require camera. All it says is that the camera is unavailable and shuts down the apps. I tried dozens of things to fix the camera, but no luck. Then realised that my microphone didn't work and i couldn't call anybody.
I decided to get my phone back to stock, but it seems to be an extremely difficult process. I downloaded loads of RUU files (including the newest RUU Ville U JB 45) and after re-locking the phone, and running the .exe file i always get an error after its trying to change the signatures saying that this is not the right file for my phone. (When i press 'update' in the installed the current version is blank, not sure if this means anything).
Then i tried an older viperOneS OTA and was left with a bootloop.
Could somebody please help me out on how to get my phone to stock version?
And before you ask if i've wiped my phone before any ROM installation - i have multiple times.
Thank you in advance.

[Q] 'No Sim - No Signal'

I originally posted this question in the general android 'noob friendly' thread but thought it would be better to place it here.
I recently rooted my Sensation XE and ran without any further modification for a day or two.
I then installed cyanogenmod 11 using 4ext recovery and all went smoothly... Except I now have the message 'no sim card' no service' on the bottom of the screen and am unable to connect to my mobile network.
I swapped the sim card to two different known working cards and it connected and worked perfectly. Based on this I purchased a replacement sim and installed it.
The phone then only said 'no sim' on the screen but I was able to phone customer service using the phone and transfer my number to the new sim.
The transfer has happened and now I received the same message... 'no sim card - no service'
Can anyone shed some light on what I can try to fix the issue?
The phone is rooted with S-OFF
HBOOT-1.29.0000
RADIO-11.23.3504.07_M2
The rom I used is at the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2530073
My apologies for the long winded post. If there is any other information that may be of use, please let me know.
Thank you for your help!
It looks like it may be my 'radio' that needs to be updated as there are issues with wifi also.
I've found a thread guide which goes through the process of updating it, however the latest of the radios listed is for ICS.
Could someone give a heads up if there is any benefit or potential problems in flashing a radio for ICS now that I am running (or trying to run) KitKat?

The highest official ROM we got for the sensation was ICS, so out highest radio and firmware were also ICS most modern ROMs are based on 3.33 firmware but to directly answer your question no, it will be fine just remember to check the m5d sum of your download to ensure its 100% okay, as flashing radios that have been damaged by a bad download can lead to large problems :/
