[Q] Failure to install custom ROM or RUU - HTC One S

Hey all! This is my first post here since i got my htc one S 2 days ago. I have read quite a bit on how to install custom roms and everything.
The very first ROM i installed was the venom viperOneS OTA 2.1.0 and it ran well until i noticed that my camera was not working. Not even through other apps that require camera. All it says is that the camera is unavailable and shuts down the apps. I tried dozens of things to fix the camera, but no luck. Then realised that my microphone didn't work and i couldn't call anybody.
I decided to get my phone back to stock, but it seems to be an extremely difficult process. I downloaded loads of RUU files (including the newest RUU Ville U JB 45) and after re-locking the phone, and running the .exe file i always get an error after its trying to change the signatures saying that this is not the right file for my phone. (When i press 'update' in the installed the current version is blank, not sure if this means anything).
Then i tried an older viperOneS OTA and was left with a bootloop.
Could somebody please help me out on how to get my phone to stock version?
And before you ask if i've wiped my phone before any ROM installation - i have multiple times.
Thank you in advance.

[Q] Crash after ROM Flash Help!!!

Hi Guys,
I literally feel sick to my stomach how dumb I've been.
I've basically fallen foul of the temptation to upgrade my HTC Desire S from the standard supplied gingerbread 2.3 to the hydrogen v1.9 saga v3 zip file (2.3.1.).
It’s crashed on me now all I have is the white HTC welcome screen.
I had installed the revolutionary.io s-off tool and rooted it. Everything seemed ok for about 3 weeks then I started to get intermittent phone call cut out and today it’s just frozen at the HTC logo on white background.
Today I have attempted to restore a backup file that I had made, to recovery it through the Revolutionary tool and it installed back to a low tech interface. I then tried to install over the hydrogen ROM again without success. Now it has 5 errors on the Rev tools’ opening page.
A mixture of;
Can’t mount/open recovery log/command/last log.
I don’t know what the hell to do any suggestions from you good altruistic folk?!!
Shall I try a factory reset?
I’d be very thankful of any suggestions. I just wished I’ waited for ICS, curiosity got the better of me
It sounds like an issue with your eMMc. The only way to recover is attempting to flash a stock ruu through hboot. If that doesn't work, it is likely nothing will. Stock RUU's can be found at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506 Good luck.
HI,
I am getting multiple installation errors when trying to clear/wipe/format cache/ system/ data etc.
I have tried installing Cyanogen ROM and installtion was aborted
I'm now trying to install a stock RUU as your suggestion. I don't know which one to choose the orange (I'm on Orange Network but no logo branding on phone) uk one I tried just wouldn't run and aborted and requexted an error mesaage. I'm now trying to install the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5, one if thatg doesn't work any ideas which one I should go for?
Cheers

[Q] Infinite Boot Looping

-sigh- Alright, so I'm thoroughly confused. My Sensation has been constantly showing the boot screen, and then promptly shutting itself down and restarting the process. I can access recovery, but not sure what to do there. Here's some background info:
So, I've been using Virtuous Inquisition since version 1.0, including the original firmware, and I haven't updated the firmware since. I recently decided it was too buggy and decided to switch back to MIUI (the latest build), which is naturally Gingerbread, and not ICS. Everything force closed and the phone constantly shut itself down, so I assumed it was the admittedly very test/alpha-y ICS firmware that was the problem, so I updated to 3.24 (not Revolutionary), which people said should be compatible. At this point, I couldn't even boot up properly anymore. I removed the SD card to delete the firmware update, and now I can access recovery.
The weird thing is, I've tried many things, and all to no avail. Using recovery, I attempted to restore my stock Sensation, and so then I could see the "Quietly Brilliant" screen before rebooting, as well. Why didn't this work? I then removed the battery for ten minutes or so, Super Wiped (a la ARHD), and reflashed MIUI. Still nothing.
Is my phone hopelessly lost? ;_; Is the firmware still the issue? What on Earth can I do to save my irreplacable phone? Thanks in advance; I will be forever grateful if it can be salvaged.

You have to downgrade your firmware to 3.17 or lower in order to re-flash any gingerbread rom like MIUI. The 3.24 is NOT compatible with GB and will bootloop, in which you are experiencing.
Take the sd card out, delete the 3.24 img file and replace it with the 3.17. Boot into hboot and flash the downgraded firmware. Then go reboot. If you can get up and running go and delete the img file immediately. IF not, remove the card again and delete it with a card reader.
If you are already on a GB rom, the downgraded firmware should have booted up.

[q] bricked? Arhd bootloop

Hey guys, I been away from the sensation for a few months now and I think I bricked it on my first flash back! I was flashing ARHD & I followed the noob guide, I downloaded firmware & updated, deleted the firmware file, performed super wipe, flashed the rom, and I checked my md5 sums. Now I'm bootlooping the white HTC splash screen, and sometimes I see the beats audio symbol but right back to the slash screen! Ahhh.... I use this line for work. I used the 3.30 firmware as it said to & I'm on boot 1.27? I know one of you guys can help, so please ANYONE,I've got a get this fixed tonight.....
well if its booting then fortunately you're not bricked lol
have you tried re flashing the new firmware?
I flashed the 3.30 that the installation guide I was following told me to. I have ext 2.2, so is that an issue or is it the correct recovery.
Anyone who can walk me through this I'd really appreciate it guys. Just like most, I rely on my phone for work. I'm a little worried here, I've flashed quite a few times and I've never had an issue like this that I couldn't restore out of.....
Try this??
what I did was everything you did.. except I used this firmware update...
Firmware from 3.30.401.1 & 3.30.401.101 RUU
--- MD5 checksum: 824295C6ACDC8D55BED9E0B913192DBE *PG58IMG.zip ---
--- Only for 3.30.401.1 & 3.30.401.101 based ROMs
Then I installed the ICS Energy rom, and everything works great.. I've also flashed a few other roms without issues.. I haven't tried the arhd yet.. I'm currently running the virtuous AOSP rom.. and still, everything works great.. I hope this helps
Just a side note.. have you tried formatting the sdcard then trying that setup? I did have issues with my sdcard in the beginning, but after formatting, I've had no issues..Also make sure the ROM you're using is made for the correct firmware, otherwise you'll have bootloops! hope this helped!
That's the same firmware I used, and I've ran the firmware upgrade twice now. Now right after I updated the firmware the first time I did it, I rebooted on accident & it wouldn't boot even before I flashed arhd.... is this normal?
It wouldn't boot into hboot? What I did was put all the needed files on my sdcard, flashed the firmware, removed the sdcard(while the phone is powered on).. booted into the rom, then put the scdard back in and removed the firmware update..then rebooted the phone, then wiped and loaded an ICS rom..that was really about all I did.. and so far all works well.. I'm really at a loss as to what the problem on your end is.. it sounds like you've done everything you're suppose to do..
You could try to run the relevant ruu (assume you have s-off?) and start again?

Update::II flashed Virtuous and had no issues and everything is running perfect. Looks just like my transformer prime now. I doing know why at this point that my system would not play nice with ARHD, I followed the guide to the letter and I flashed the firmware 3.30 several timed just as directed. None the less, I am satisfied with this from, and my device is much smoother and more productive than the ****ty GS2 by T-Mobile that I had been using the last few months! I just can't retire my Sensation. Thank you to all who chimed in, you're a great community!
Bricked
That happened to me too when I tried to install ICS without updating the firmware
first.
I just re-booted to recovery and did a restore. I'm assuming you backed up your
ROM right?
Then at least your phone will go back to normal and you can start over...and use it for work haha
I'm good now on virtuous, but I just couldn't get ARHD to work for me. Yes I had upgraded to the proper firmware first, and I always compare md5 sums. I'm by no means an expert, but I always research, read and ask all the nessecary questions before I flash anything I'm not familiar with. I think there may just be rare occasions when some of the devices just won't play nice with certain software. Virtuous took on the first flash & I'm actually very pleased with it, so all's well that ends well. ICS is just so much more intuitive & functional for me

[Q] MIUI Problem

I have flashed many ROMS to my phone and about 3 months ago I flashed MIUI rom v5 simply because I thought it would be cool. I no longer want it, it's just getting boring, so I want another ROM, pretty much any ROM, Cyanogen, Carbon, AOKP, I've tried them all. some won't even flash, it says failed before I can boot up the device so I have to restore back to MIUI. although some do, and there's a problem, there is an error message that keeps popping up when I do anything, I think it says something about a keyboard but it goes away too fast to read it. that wouldnt be such a nuisance if the home button would work. on the MIUI ROM the home button works fine, but on any other ROM that hasn't mysteriously failed, the home button won't do a thing. It's not a problem with the home button either, if I try to go home with PIE controls, it does nothing, nor if I activate software keys. I'm not sure if it's a problem but when I install a ROM other than MIUI, it completely skips the introduction thing, you know, where you set up everything like the wifi and your account and such, it just goes straight to the homescreen and has these problems. I'm installing these ROMS through TWRP which has had many successes, so I can't help but think it's the MIUI ROM that has messed up my device, any help would be appreciated.
Firstly, do you have the HTC One X (Endeavoru) or the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita)? What are your bootloader details? I need to see the first five lines. What version of TWRP are you using? What are the full filenames of the ROMs that you've tried? Please answer all above questions, I need as much exact information as possible to help you properly.
There are a few reasons why the ROM installs are failing in TWRP: the ROM isn't meant for your phone, you're using the incorrect version of TWRP (some are very buggy), the download is corrupted, you are on the incorrect firmware version that the ROM installer is checking for. The reason the intro is skipping and you're getting a bunch of errors on ROMs that do install is probably because you haven't installed gapps, or you've installed the wrong gapps.
I'm certain we can fix whatever is wrong, it's most likely something very simple you've missed. As long as you give the information required this should be easy.

Wifi Issue

Hello, recently I got my HOX (AT&T version). Obviously, the first thing I did was rooting it (And yes, I'm pretty sure that I did it correctly, I rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, rooted it again, S-OFF it and updated the HBOOT to 2.14 in order to install CM 11). The first rom I installed was the official CM11 and the wifi issue started, I thought that it might have been a bug because it was a nightly (despite the fact that it was the latest nightly). I tried to fix it by installing another rom (PAC rom), and the issue was still there.
After searching for solutions, I tried everything I could: I did a factory reset (both in the ROM and in the recovery mode), I formatted the internal memory, I installed the latest nightly, the official release, I flashed the boot.img using fastboot, I erased the files in /data/wifi folder. But none of this solutions worked.
Here's exactly what happens: I flash the rom and the gapps, then I reboot the phone. Once it boots, I choose the language and I get the google account screen (The one that asks if you want to use an existing account or if you want to create a new account). Before it allows me to choose anything, it goes to another screen that says "To see available networks, turn your wifi on" for about 2 seconds, then it says "Turning wifi on" and nothing ever happens, no matter how many hours I wait, no matter how many times I reboot the phone, it always says the same thing.
I went back to JellyBean for a while and everything worked fine, now that I saw a thread in which an user posted a CM12 build. I did everything again and flashed the ROM, and I still got the same problem.
Please help.
PS: Sorry if I made a lot of grammar mistakes, English is not my main language.
Have you tried running an RUU?
Transmitted via Bacon
I solved it, I was searching how to update the RUU and I read that some ROMs have mobile data/wifi issues if your Hboot wasn't at least 2.15, and I had 2.14.
Anyways, thanks for the help.
