Hi, i own an hTc fuze but i run with t-mobile. i dont have a data plan, but i heard there's a way to get around that to get the gps working for your phone. i tried doing some research but had no luck, can someone guide me in the right direction as to what do i need to do to have free gps working on my phone?
your help is appreciated
Look at third party GPS providers such as Garmin. Their maps are saved on the storage card rather than getting them live through the servers such as google.
where can i look?
google.co.uk is your friend
ok...its a uk version of google, but idk where to go with that?

Hi there
I have decided to tentatively upgrade from my Nokia E90 to a HTC Touch Pro - I'm keeping the E90 for now so I can move back if I don't like it.
I will be using the HTC Touch pro for a small amount of calls and texts, but a fair amount of data and internet, so I want that unlimited. Also, I'll be using a VoIP client (probably Skype as I have a SkypeOut subscription) and I want to make sure my network isn't blocking it.
I've searched the net and here quite extensively and there's conflicting reports on what is and what isn't allowed, hence me asking directly, so sorry if it has already been answered.
Also, I'll be buying it on contract so the best deals would appeal to me! I find buying direct from the network usually gets you the best support so what's out there for the Touch Pro right now?
And I'll also be swapping Sims from time to time so the phone has to be unblocked.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Stephen
Although I am generally happy with Vodafone as a network for call and coverage, I think their data packages arent up to much. I could be wrong but I'm sure the best they offer is the 'unlimited' data package, which in reality has a 500mb 'fair usage' limit attached. I also seem to recall that calls on VOIP arent included in this. It has been a while since I checked the tariffs, but thought I'd pass on my limited knowledge
Thanks
Anybody else running one in the UK and has an unlimited data tariff that is Skype friendly?

no mms and apps dont work. internet does
I hope it gets solved somehow
sorry to revive a month+ old topic..but the link is offline, anyone have this information they can share? I'm very curious about bringing my Hero to MetroPCS.
I am going to see if I have the info when I get home, but don't do it man don't switch the hero to sprint, is worthless in that carrier, I mean Unlimited Calls, and Text, sure...but slow internet, and it does not work for the Market and 3rd party apps, not good.
I had it on metro and switch to sprint. ;D
just my 2cents
Market apps don't work? well thats a deal breaker. I guess i'll stick to paying $70 a month via sprint =( thank for your input.
The main problem is that MetropCs uses a Proxy server...and nobody ca find a way to fool android into this using this proxy...therefore nothing works. You can Browse the internet...but not 3rd party apps...and honestly is slow as hell!
Hi there guys, I have a couple of questions;
First of all, will my Nexus 4 work in the US network? I assume so, because it's also sold there?
Second, I was thinking of buying a pre paid SIM-card there, so I can use internet on my phone for GPS etc. Is there a provider good for this? Like a lot of data but no text messages? I have no experience with US providers so I have no idea how everything works there.
So if any of you knows a good provider with decent 3G coverage and a lot of data for a low price, please respond. I'm going to California, if that matters.
Thanks!
(I hope this is the right section, I couldn't really find an appropriate place to post this...)
Hey, guys:
So...I've just moved into a (very) rural area... and I need Internet Access at a decent speed (forget Dish...the Ping return is ridiculous.)
I have a LOS to a Cell Tower 4.1 miles away.
I've been using my Phone for a Hotspot...but my Sprint Plan is only good for 40GB (I need at *least* double that...and it's not offered.)
I want to buy a dedicated Tablet *just* to provide WiFi to the house (Sprint allows unlimited Data on Tablets; but only 5GB through WiFi Tethering.)
Since I can't (and IMHO shouldn't have to) afford a $400-800 monthly bill, what I need is a way to pull the Data and send it that *doesn't* use the native Hotspot (that is monitored by Sprint.)
Any suggestions on Hardware, Firmware, and/or Apps that might help me would be awesome; 'cause I've tried searching...and the answers I've found are either contradictory, incomplete, or useless (or mebbe I'm just not smart-enough :silly: )
Thanks in advance!
*bump* in the hope that someone will bite...
Hi there,
I've been a happy user of Urbane 2 LTE since I got it earlier this year. For some of the time 3G/LTE use was not a pain because for some reason the first carrier that I've tried (Public Mobile, division of Telus in Canada) worked out of the box.
The problem is that even thought Public Mobile has one of the overall best prices for my region, it's still not quite cheap for "backup" SIM/3G on my watch to use it once in a while. There's no way I could get my montlhy cost to be lower than $25 a month or so. And 1GB of data was actually overkill when I was only using around 70MB of data per month.
Then I recently switched to 7-11 SpeakOut. These guys have the best deal if you don't need lots of data and for eventual use. and top ups lasts for 365 days which is great. I could pay something like $10 a month. That's acceptable for me.
The problem is that for some reason on SpeakOut my Urbane 2 does not set APN automatically. I've tried everything I could, including calling their support and kindly asking them to "push" the APN configuration to my number hoping it would work. They said they did it but no luck
So I went on through the process of unlocking the bootloader, rooting my watch and manually editing the APN. Good news is that it worked but then I found out that Google Pay stops working
It's kinda hard to decide what I want: Google Pay for convenient payments or the convenience of 3G/LTE on my watch so I can go standalone. I would rather have both, but I have yet to find a solution that works with both.
For now, after a lot of Googling and messing with it, I managed to get Google Pay working again by restoring the stock image and flash Android Wear 1.5 back and then upgrading all the way to 2.1 again. But now although I can pay with my watch, no APN (3G/LTE) again
Does anyone knows a solution for this?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks.
For me, this steps helped, but I do not have google pay and can not confirm pay will work:
