Alright...I've been around here for a few years and have enjoyed it.
My Fuze took a dump...screen kept freezing and then it would boot with no display/blank screen. OS was up and ActiveSync worked but no display.
2nd Fuze I've owned. Both of the touchscreens got the liquid/mosaic after flights to California from Atlanta. Phone doesn't like temp/humidity/pressure changes apparently.
HTC quality sux and so does their service. I won't buy one again unless someone can convince me that there is a good HTC phone for ATT.
Any advice on a replacement?
If not...then I guess I will go to the Iphone.
Thanks in advance.
sorry for ur loss. Have u tried the TP2?
your phone didn't survive california to atlanta? Mine survived atlanta to bangkok and back then to kentucky and finally to california (with a few back and forth from CA to KY)
it also survived 20+ falls/drops.
Try getting yourself Bodyguardz skin protector or invisble shield. that was a massive life saver for me.

Yup, actually they asked me if a train had ran over it (lol), they had never ever seen a phone in so many parts!
I was a bit suprised to see that the battery still had hold it's charge! (Was 90-95% when that happened)
EDIT: You can guess my face btw when i realised what has just happened..
Wow - that's a real bummer. Glad to see you got it fixed. What insurance do you have?
that last picture was after you just changed
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\AutoFix
to 1 right ?
yup, it was the autofix, i just had to solder it on because the phone wouldn't turn on otherwise
About the insurance, it's one you can buy with the phone, the shop that provides such is called Gigantti here in finland, and El Giganten in other northern countries, dont know if you know it.
It costed .. umm.. 70 euros i think and was definately worth it.
omg!!Thats one of the scariest picture I've ever seen!!
I plan to buy my touch diamond soon with almost all the money I earned working for a couple months(which is very precious!), lately it seems like all I hear from people is "oh it might get stolen, or broken" and now I see this!! =O
Never heard of insurance for a phone, seems like a nice idea but I don't think its available here. (Could'nt afford it if it was!~ lol)
*will pray hard before buying the device*
Congrats for your insurance.
So your insurance is going to FIX IT? Right?
Note about insurance...
The insurance we can get with ATT sucks. But I highly recommend to everyone that you check with your homeowners or renters insurance company. Many offer a "PC Rider" for a few bucks a year that covers accidental damage to PC's, laptops, PDAs - anything computer related. Since the Fuze is more PDA than phone, my homeowners covers it... Takes my deductible down to $100 and covers any catastrophic damage. I mention it as something to look into as alot of the people I deal with (PC repair) don't know about it...
Was the SIM card ok..? LOL
It's only a little scratch. It'll polish out.
what were u doing when u dropped the phone? where were u? lucky that thing didn't break someone's window.
You poor bastard. Yesterday i dropped my Touch Pro too ; ; It's only the second day i've had it. I made an ugly ding on the corner and two pretty big scratches on the screen. I didn't even put on my protector yet ; ; I called up att to splat insurance on it the same day. I guess at least i don't have to baby it too much now.
Hey, while you've got it apart, maybe you can see why the left and right directional buttons are so jacked up

Soon on eBay:
"HTC Touch Pro, like new, minor scratches!"
at the good one you have battery with percent, which app is this?
My phone sort of took a swim this morning. It was on the counter and it somehow slid and fell just right so it could land in the dogs water bowl. I was surprised and mad so I cursed, picked it out, and threw it. It hit a pillow and had the battery pop out (probably a good thing). Now it is submersed in rice and I am hoping for the best. I would rather have taken it apart and gotten all of the water off of the board with Q-tips and blown the chips dry with CO2, but it was time to go to work.
Anywho, im guessing there is probably a 50 or 60% chance it is dead.
My biggest dilema? there are no good phones for sale in the US yet (aside from the fact I spent my fun money on a 42 lcd). I usually buy unlocked phones on ebay etc... but all of the good phone are Europe / Asia only (no US 3g). Anyone think there is a chance the TG01 and Omnia HD will come to the US in a timely manner or should I just spend my money on a phone I don't really like?
*I like big screens and fast chips. No way I could stand smaller than the 3.2 I had*

Shame about your swiming device...
I think HD is comming to USA, read on the Blackstone forum there is a thread about that, and also have in mind Diamond 2 or Touch Pro 2 as far as I know they will arrive to America also
Good luck,
No wonder my TP2 on Sprint is so fast. No one else is using the bandwidth!
I just hope they can keep the system running well with reduced revenue.
zdnet - Sprint loses money, more subscribers in third quarter
http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=26742&tag=nl.e539
I just don't get it. I guess in other areas sprint isn't that good. Everybody I know here in Columbus has them or verizon. they have a loyal customer in me. they have been doing me right for quite some time.
I used to have Sprint when I lived in Boulder, and the service was OK, not great, but that was 8 years ago. I moved to a location in the mountains that only had AT&T, and I switched to them cause that was all I could get. They were crap. Their system had more dropped calls than Sprint, and the data speeds on AT&T were getting slower and slower, I think due to all the iPhone users.
I live in a new area now, and can have my choice of providers. As soon as I could I gave AT&T the boot.
I just switched back to Sprint about 1 month ago as their price for the TP2 and the all included data plan was way better than AT&T. My data speeds are at least double those from AT&T on my TP1, and often 4-5 times faster.
I have also been traveling a bunch and have found the Sprint coverage to be quite good. There is one location in the mountains that I have not gone yet that I need coverage, and their coverage map states it is available, but you never know for sure until you try it your self.
So far, consider me a happy Sprint customer!
Went from Alltel/VZW to Sprint.
So far so good, but I haven't had much chance to test it out. Live in Lincoln, NE right now. Far I have had flawless coverage within, and same with the drive to Omaha. So far no drops in Omaha. I also played pandora all the way from Lincoln to Kansas City with only dips in coverage when I got into the really hilly areas between St Joe and KC. Friends had the same issues, so it was terrain related.
Anyway, I am glad I switched to sprint, I just hope they last! Customer Service in store and over the phone is 100x better than anything I dealt with for Alltel and VZW. Lets hope my next trip to the mountains is as good as all my other trips have been.
Edit: Colorado_al does sprint cover Copper Mountain? I hope so, going there over Thanksgiving.
I'm not happy with Sprint (and HTC) about how they handled my TP1 situation. I just took their phone survey too. I went through 4 TP1's in a 7 month period and they refused to send me another refurb. The store ordered parts and took my TP1 apart in the store and attempted to repair it. They handed me the phone and said it was fixed. Before walking away I tested things and the radio would not power on. I wanted to scream.
I got the TP2 from asurion after they were going to send my 4th refurb and I refused to accept that (told them I wanted a NIB TP1). I'm guessing that such a critter does not exist. My wife and step daughter have another year on the contract so...we may be looking elsewhere soon. Sprint needs to wake up and realize that bad customer support is killing them IMHO. I like the TP2 alright. It has a more RAM/ROM, a bigger screen and dual radios but still has the same processor the TP1 did.
Oh well, its just a phone after all
Sprint doesn't even have service up here, beyond roaming on US Cellular that is, and Nextel phones are just dead paperweights, so I've never even really considered them. That said, how long can they keep bleeding like this and stay alive? OUCH!

ive had 3 TP1s and all brand new in box from aurion... i havent had any problem with sprint besides fighting billing (all more my gain) in 14 years... i have tmobile as well and find there service shotty but am required to use it for work.. tryed att for a while that just made me start sharpening my knives so i left that back to tmobile.. soo ya havent had a bad problem considering every phone i have had since the old school 6600 has been brand new in box (expect one of the 6600's but that worked a lot longer then the other)
I've had AT&T since '95 in two different states, but just dropped them for Sprint because their coverage in my area is not getting better. So far I've no big complaints with Sprint, their coverage is better for me, no dropped calls in the area and I like the TP2.
I was not excited about going CDMA as I really like being able to switch my sim card between a couple phones as needed, but so far I've not needed to do that with the new phone.
My wife and daughter both use the Pre and love it. The Pre is a nice little phone is you don't need the keyboard much.
Sprint has got me as a customer for a while now. Hopefully they stay around

ups delivers late around my area (sometimes even 9pm) so hold tight and keep your mind off of it! lol
it say's i have one business day left. i'm just used to ups dropping my stuff off a day early. if it's in my city a day early, they usually always deliver early. just got spoiled i guess.

This phone is MUCH faster than Vibrant, you won't need to flash it so often
My UPS guy doesn't come till 6-7. Too bad I can't pick it up.
Nate how many replacements did you get for the Vibrant before they decided to give you the G2x? They really are trying to play me! I'm tired of this MT4G and they keep sending me jacked up phones!

my original vibrant had a burn in the screen (defective) it took them 2 months of arguing and figuring out if it was my fault( and was concluded that samsung faxed a copy stating NO phone should have burn-in's within 3 months of use)
they sent me one that was all dented on the besil and the volume button was jammed (would not work)
they sent ANOTHER one that would reboot when ever i ended a call (freeze then reboot)
the last one they sent me works perfect..... my brother currently has that one
but the capped data for three months without going over 5GB was enough to piss me off and cancel my service several times... they lowered my bill to 120 for two unlimited lines.... after the first month
the second month i got a 120 credit for the 2 months of data (plus next months)
the third time they lowered my bill to 111.54 a month ( promised from manager of customer loyalty/retention)
and also a free phone per line.... i used my main line for the G2x
and if the SGS2 comes to tmobile i might get it for the second one... or see what comes out next spring
(these "free" phones are free.... to keep me as a customer! they would rather shell out 200 bucks for a phone than loose the 4 ears ive been a customer)
ALSO another note to show how long and how many times i called (daily)
i added up all the hours in my call log including hold time (and sometimes i waited 40 mins for a rep)
and it came to over 80 hours in little under three months
thats a full time job 2 week pay check.....
some tips to help it go faster
DONT BE RUDE
state your problem and only get mad when you know there jerking you around
DONT SWEAR!!!!
they hang up trust me lol
CALL MANY MANY MANY TIMES
so if you think about it...... i didnt get it for free as i wasted almost 80 hours of my life to calling them (sad i know but i dont start working again till may 12th so i get to collect unemployment all winter )
I'm gonna record my Leopard Gecko eating a Pinky Mouse

So I had to call ATT today regarding my Inspire. Woke up to the Phone vibrating on its stand beside the bed. The volume button has not worked for about 2 weeks and I didn't give it much thought just downloaded a volume control application that made it workable. So I called ATT and they put me through the hoops to prove my phone was actually broken (no water damage, no physical damage, not rooted). So after all that they ship me over to warranty replacements and i have to jump through the same hoops and we ended up doing a factory reset with the same problem. the second phone call was kind of annoying because i had just spent 30 min proving to tech support the same thing. however at the end of the call i told him about my screen protector from ZAGG that i would loose when i shipped the phone back in and they were nice enough to give me a $29.99 credit to my account for me to buy a new one! Over all it was a good experience compared to some i have read. ATT does not have the best service in the world but this one time was good.. feeding that stray cat this morning must have bestowed upon me some good karma, guess ill have to feed him more often!! :3
Fwiw, Zagg provides a replacement for when you have to get your phone exchanged under warranty.

Sweet! Well ATT just payed for my screen protector I bought when I first got the phone!
