[APP] WiimoteController 0.6 Beta [may-29-2011] Mapping profiles - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Hello!
I decided to share my very first Android application with the xda-devs community!
WiimoteController is an application which allows a Wii remote to connect to your Android phone. You can then use the Wii remote to control various apps.
IMPORTANT! This application does not work with most HTC Devices that have Sense UI. It doesn't matter if the Sense is turned on or not, the problem seems to be much deeper.
Please check the second post below if your device/OS flavour is listed. If it's not, test and please report if it works or not. Include your device/ROM name with the report. In case of failure please include what the app said and possibly a logcat of it too.
Usage:
turn bluetooth on
run the app
if this is your first run, hit Yes. Enable "WiiControllerIME". This is only needed once right after installation
tap the first button and at the same time put your Wii remote in discovery mode by pressing "1" and "2" simultaneously
wait for the "Connected" message to appear. The first LED will turn on on the Wii remote
back in WiimoteController tap the second button and select WiiControllerIME
done. The Wii remote is connected. Go play!
if you want to connect more than one Wii remote, follow the same procedure, but put ALL the remotes to discovery mode
to disconnect a single Wii remote, hold the power button on it
to disconnect all Wii remotes, use the option from the menu or simply turn the phone's bluetooth off
don't forget to set your favorite IME back or you won't be able to type (or check Preferences to find an option to do that automatically)
A note about yongzh's emulators (Gensoid/SNesoid/Nesoid/GameBoid):
Custom input methods don't work with yongzh's emulators by default. To enable support, go to settings and enable "Use input method". Afterwards, map keys as usual and then start gaming

Here's the apk for those of you without the android market and for those that for some reason don't see the app there. The latest version is 0.6. Older versions are no longer available because of licensing issues.

Changelog:
version 0.6 Beta, published may-29-2011
- optimized IME handling
- added ALL key codes from android, including ones for Xperia Play games (marked XP)
- redesigned the mapping interface. Mappings were reset to defaults, sorry about that
- new: mapping profiles
- fixed a bug where classic controller's D-pad buttons would rotate
- fixed a bug where too many controllers were detected and connecting would fail
- fixed a D.I. bug where getAnalogInputStatus would not work correctly
version 0.55 Beta, published may-16-2011
- changed the way wiimotes are detected. A lot of devices should now at least detect them (but may still not be supported)
- dropped support for Android 1.5 and 1.6. Sorry, had to do it to comply with various licences
- improved virtual key dispatching. Home screens should now accept input from controllers
- new: app now reports back compatibility info to help improving future development
- fixed a bug in the direct interface so now it should be ready
version 0.3 Beta, published may-23-2010
- support for up to 4 controllers
- support for nunchuk and classic controller (thanks to Mark and Rob for testing)
- "Disconnect all" feature added in menu
- added option to disable high thread priority from 0.25
- all input can be remapped
- added option to rotate wiimotes sideways (rotates the D-pad)
- all analog sticks support axis independent digital or analog mode
- digital mode has an adjustable threshold
version 0.25 Alpha, published may-14-2010
- 30-minute limit has been removed. Enjoy
- no longer uses Wiiuse
- ad and donation supported
- fix for MotoBLUR devices with Android 1.5 (thanks to Ahmed G-E for testing)
- improved response
version 0.2 Alpha, published may-8-2010
- minimum Android version is now 1.5
- automatic IME restore after use (see Keyboard settings)
version 0.1 Alpha, published apr-29-2010
- initial version
Known bugs:
Wii remote appears to freeze every couple of seconds for a moment. The cause for this is poor Wifi signal. Fix by moving closer to your Wifi hotspot or disabling Wifi
on some devices, mostly HTC and most newer Samsung devices, the application starts searching, finds the controller, and then fails with a message. The most common messages are "No route to host" and "Protocol not supported". This is most likely a fault from the manufacturer and is unfixible for now.

Frequently asked questions - FAQ
The app doesn't work! It says "Error no -1". My bluetooth is on for sure.
Your phone is most likey not supported. So far, Samsung Moment and all HTC phones with Sense UI have been identified as having this issue and thus being unsupported. See this thread for technical info. Seems like HTC did something very bad to Android.
When will app be available for my Incredible/Desire/Legend/Magic/...?
See the question above. Please.
Will this ever work on my Incredible/Desire/Legend/Magic/...?
Do I really need to repeat myself? It might never. It isn't my fault though. See above.
The wiimote connects but there is no response in my (s)nesoid/gensoid/gameboid.
Three things need to be done for this to work (apart from connecting):
you need to choose WiiControllerIME with the second button
in your emulator you need to enable "Use input method" in settings (if there is no such setting, update your emulator!)
in your emulator you need to map wiimote's keys to game keys. You can do that in "Key mappings" inside settings
I have an unoriginal controller (like Nyko's for example). Now when I connect, the phone starts polling the data, but shortly after times out. What to do?
Unfortunately, unoriginal wii remotes and classic controllers cause issues such as abruptly disconnecting and misidentifying themselves. It's best to stick to original Nintendo hardware. The only confirmed piece of equipment that doesn't cause issues is the Datel's Retro Wireless Controller so if you've confirmed that your device works with WiimoteController app, you're safe to purchase either this or the original Nintendo controller.
I need help figuring this app out. How do I connect? How do I use this?
See this video. The first minute shows how to connect the wiimote. The last minute shows how to set it up in an emulator.
I'm not installing this! The thing can read all my passwords and credit card numbers!
What you saw was a message from the Android, warning you that you're about to enable a 3rd party input method. All input methods (Like Swype, AnySoftKeyboard, HTC_IME, etc) get this message. Even if my app was malicious (which it isn't), it can't actually capture anything without being active. And even when it's active, it could only capture input from your wiimote. Long story short, you have nothing to wory about.
Why does the app require internet connection then?
It's to download and show advertisements.
I have an issue, not mentioned in this FAQ.
Contact me via email [wiicontroller.A.T.ccpcreations.D.O.T.com]. It is in my interest to make this work on as much devices as I can, but I can't do much if I don't actually have access to a device.
Will you be developing something like this for PS3 controllers?
I might, if I find the time in the future. But I need to buy a PS3 controller, as I don't have a PS3. You can always contribute to the cause
This app is great! How can I contribute?
In a number of ways:
by contacting me if you have any issues, not mentioned in this FAQ
by saying thanks
by buying me a cup of coffee or a pizza

This is sweet, but would be sweeter if we could use Ps3 and or Xbox ones too. Good start though! Thanks for sharing!

will test out soon. the idea is awesome and amazing. can use it to play all the emulators that i stoped useing when i got nexus cause no keyboard

xbox does not use bluetooth. ps3 sure does tho

Works awesome!! I've been waiting for something like this. nicely done!

works great... i hope that you can add support for the full gamepad attachment in a future update

nice work
.

This has some serious potential

haven't tried it yet but this is awesome hope you can add PS3 support too, or maybe wii remote add-on support (like the classic controller and such)
ok so after getting it working i got a hard reboot i dont know if its because my roms not the stablest (5.0.7-test0) or it was gbcoid lite or the game for that matter further testing awaits...which means work will suck in the morning

Thanks for all your input guys.

My plans are to add support for the classic gamepad, the Nunchuck and the Guitar Hero 3 controller. But all in due time. First let's make sure that the existing app works as advertised.
On another note: pgiuoco, do you still have the G1 from your signature? I'm interested to know if this app works on stock G1s. Or stock anything else for that matter.

It works with Motorola Milestone, Android 2.0.1.
Great app! My only suggestion is if you can add a notificacion icon to switch IME and deactivate bluetooth in one click. =D
Thanks for this now I can properly play Megaman! XD

Original xbox controllers were just USB plug-ins (of course with a microsoft fat head on em). What're the chances of being able to do something via hardware/software to make a plug in controller?

What lion king game was that? it looks good though

I like this, very nice. Well done

What a hero. Works beautifully on the Nexus One!
Please release a full version without the time limit, I'll certainly pay for it
Oh and PS3 controller support would be nice, but I'm just glad that I can now play games properly on my Nexus One! Thank you

Very cool I would definitely pay too.

How to enable controller in emulators?
Amazing app! Love it! Let us know as soon as final release is ready for purchase!
I get it to connect the controller, and to enable controller in settings. The controller is useable in the text fields, however I can't get the emulators use it. Tried nesoid and snesoid. Any other emulators I should use instead?
EDIT: Nexus One, Cyanogenmod 5.0.6
EDIT2: Sorry, used old versions of the emulators. Updated them, and works fine now.

Nesoid and Snesoid are working. Check if Use Method Inputs are selected in the options

Hi, I love the idea of this program. I got it to work fine with the WinMo start screen. But can't seem to get FpseCE to work with it. Using the same two phones (kaiser+HD2) am I missing something?
Tried assigning the hardware keys for use with FpseCE but with no luck, then resorted to pressing randomly with less luck. It's connected fine, thought I might have something set up wrong with FpseCE. Any help I'd appreciate, thanks.
Try to type in a text editor. If that works, which fpsece version do you have? I use the supporter.
To asign the keys in fpsece open the controller.screen and tap/double tap on the button you want to set (Do not press on the number!) Then ibstead of the numver on top of the button should get '--'. Then press your button on tge Kaiser and it should change to a number, thats it.
I've tried all that, I use the latest supporter version with Simon Mallions theme. Perhaps changing the theme back to default will help, i've tried everything else. Works fine with writing sms and word mobile, just fpsece not registering any key presses. Thanks for the reply, I'll try it again with the default skin.
I am currently reworking it. With a udp support, plugins etc.
UDP will allow to use it with your computer without bluetooth or use it over wifi if you phones do not have bluetooth.
I am currently fighting agains problems with bluetooth streams that may delay the Video Streaming of the other device

Hi SciLor,
congratulations for all your projects. They are really interesting starting from FuelBlaster to WinMoBlue. You are an "insane" genius!!
I have tried WinMoBlue on my Blackstone (controlled) and my PC (Windows Server 2003 sp2 bla bla bla .NET Framework 3.5 SP3) but doesn't run....
In this case running the PC part doesn't start nothing. In the event viewer this error: Generate Activation Context non riuscito per C:\Programmi\SciLor\SciLor's WiMoBlue Server Desktop\32feetWidcomm.dll
The server part on Blackstone starts but naturally doesn't find nothing to connect...
In reverse mode (PC controlled - HD controller) there is no way to take control too. In this case it the PC returns error about bluestack not supported.
As Bluetooth device i use a CONITECH DAKOTA Bluetooth 2.0 EDR USB Dongle Class1 based on Broadcom Widcomm driver v5.1.0.1700
Hope this can help you for future development. Keep it updated: it has many prosepctives!!!
NiceOne
Nice to know that you like my projects
I think the bluetooth driver I use does not support your dongle .
In the next version (which is under heaving developement and may come in the next weeks) I will additional support wifi, so you may try it over wifi l8er. The best thing will be, plugin support, not only keyboard input, but also mouse input. AND a video stream from the other device .
GREAT SciLor: YOU ARE GREAT!!!
I've subsribed this thread and so surely I'll test your next releases.. ;-)
NiceOne and Regards!
Any possibility of having it so you press a touchscreen button on the phone and it corresponds to a button press on the other device.
Example:
Phone has a picture of a NES Controller on it. Tapping the A button on the screen presses A on the controlled device, thus allowing it to emulate various gamepads.
I am currently recoding WiMoBlue to a Remote Controlling Software with Plugins.
Adding such an plugin will be very easy I will try to add it!
its an improvement for the touchscreen games. i'd love someone to connect a joystick or a bt keyboard
This sounds awesome, ill keep an eye on this, wifi will make it even better
It works!
Hi Scilor, I have tested it with sucess, but with a few small problems, some that I will report after more tests, and some are in the end of the reply. thank you to keep working on this project.
I've controlled my HD2 with a smartphone, the HTC S711 AKA VOX (winmo 6.1) and it works well with FpseCE, but unfortunately not yet writing messages.
Small problems:
1- Some hardware keys still works in the smartphone after connected and not in the HD2, wich was annoying becouse sometimes I've unintentionally closed the program in the smartphone.
2- the "Fn" key doesn't work.
Thank you and sorry if I wrote something wrong.

0.2b does work fine. Thanks.
Some things I learnt.
- Right click acts as "home" button press
- Escape on the keyboard acts as the "back" button
- Cursor keys work fine.
Cool
Now i'd just need to alter the framebuffer change detection to speed up the performance in updating screen...
How is the screen update performace on pc of nexus?
its not very snappy, slight delay before rendering new windows.
Whoah! Kudos to you, it works on my HTC EVO 4G!! Thanks a bunch!
wow i've been researching and looking into a possible solution to windows mobile mymobiler
www.mymobiler.com before making the complete jump to android and your project looks like a really good solution to mymobiler for me compared to the android screencast app
i was looking around on your blog (added it to my rss feed to keep up) i'm really interested in this
i'm a part time android user (dual boot windows and android 2.2) next time I switch over to android I will definitely install this and check it out with tinyvnc
keep the updates coming great job
and if possible add some of the ideas from mymobiler a lot of people are really interested in seeing a mymobiler for android and it looks like your working on a great solution
Green lines on HTC Desire.
Thanks for the job.
Is it possible to install landscape mode for looking on TV?
CU Ulli
If there are much people interested i think i can implement it
UPDATE: The app is already on the market, search for vnc server
Dear lord, this app is FANTASTIC! Works great (though the interface is a tad rough).
And just for fun, I couldn't help but try a camera feedback loop between my laptop & Evo running a VNC connection:

[GAME][2.1+/3.1+] MAME4droid - MAME 0.37b5 port for Android

Hi... maybe this is no the correct site... but i have updated
iMAME4all site with the new iMAME4all Android port called MAME4droid
that I have been developing recently.
iOS iMAME4all is the best MAME mobile experience since iOS runs very
well iMAME. Android is very hard to deal with (performance) and till
Android 3.0 there is not HW 2D accelerated APIs.
Anyway... i think i have done a good job and with the correct HW...
MAME4droid is a very good experience.
Features:
Port of iMAME4all 1.9 for Android 2.1 and upper phone versions.
Native Support for Android honeycomb tablets.
Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) 2D Hardware Accelerated.
Autorotate. HW Keys remapping supported. Selectable hide/show touch
Controller. Smoothed image. Animated touch stick and more.
Some features still missing are: analog touch control, native wiimote (but you can use 3rd party apps on market) and overlays. The rest iOS features are
there.
I haven't published to market yet, as this is an early release and I'm waiting for comments and (hopefully very few) bug reports.
As a new user I'm not allowed to post links, so to download the apk, search for iMAME4all at google code site.
Maybe this is of interest to you or any of you friends.
I have a Acer Iconia A500 to test this with. Ill post my findings.
Link for others: http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Thanks....let me know your findings.
I have published a b2...fixing a rotation bug...
Fantastic news. I tried it out and seems to be working great. Any possible chance to add support for wiimotes? I can't seem to get it to accept a key from it.
I am incorrect. It can work with wiimotes.
However, there is no way to change the the definition of keys for those of us without a physical keyboard.
Thanks a bunch for doing this work.
Fantastic work...had been hoping someone would pick this up.
Did some testing on my Galaxy 10.1 tab (Bonsai rom, 1.4gHz) and it went well with the few games I tried. On screen controls are a little sluggish but disabling the animated controls smoothed it out.
Please let me know if I can help with any testing. Will be watching this one closely.
So I have it loaded and it seems to run, but I have loaded several roms that are all on the list and all seem to fail. I get missing files for ever single one of the roms. Any clue as to why?
You mention that there isn't 2d hardware accel without honeycomb. Couldn't the 2d be drawn to a 3d layer? There are numerous hardware accelerated games on android 2.x
Yes I will do... But at first I wanted to do 2d engine, so buggy gles drivers were not a problem and supporting all kind of smartphones.
the 2d rendering is very good without filtering now...
how to make working roms? i tried several roms but without success..

same here. it seems that most of the roms are missing files in the zip... I have verified that the same issue also happens in the desktop version of the same build this is made from. So not many roms seem to be working and the rom checker program doesn't fix any of them or I just don't know how to work it.
Sadly that port is not usable for me simply because the onscreen controls dont seem to work right. The analog stick doesnt center unless I lift my finger off the screen. Dead zone on/off doesnt change that. Is this actually supposed to be that way or is it a bug.
I use this on the subway a lot and I was wondering if others would find it helpful to have a quick pause feature. Maybe touch the middle of the screen to pause/unpause.
Just wanted to make that suggestion.
I really like this Mame port, fast, good looking and compatable with many games !
I found a full working romsets in the usual places (just check for mame gp32 romset).
I usually play using a wiimote or a gamepad (android 3.2 is great for that!).
BTW is there an option to enable more buttons on the virtual joystick ? As I have 4 in portrait mode, but only 2 in landscape one.
Also, do you plan to add 2 players support in the input settings?
Thanks for your hard work ! It's so nice to play those good old games on Android.
Can the "Mahjong electron base" game run on Android SYS?
I have the game source of mame for PSP
how to change it to run the mahjong electron base game on Android SYS?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274215
running on galaxy s starts with buttons and a black screen. then android tells me app is not responding.
I ran this on my gtab 10.1 and it works GREAT!!! I use to use winmo and this is far better than any mame emulator i used there. Great work!!
Hello this is a good working emulator. But i was wondering if it is possible to change or create a conf file, to change the location of the roms folder.
Hi guys
As mame4droid will never support save state
i was thinking does anything know anyway of freeezing it i mean keep it running in the background, without having the android reset the emulators status after a while in the background
that way rather than save state we could resume it and open up from the background and resume our games that way(bit like the xperia play emulator resume method).
i've tried other mame emulators they support save state but dont support dip switches this is pointless as i always like upping the difficulty in my games. mame4droid allows this.
p.s i already tried freezing mame4droid with titanium backup,
no joy
after unfreezing the app resets itself and u lose your rom status.
any help is much appreciated.

[App] Wifi Inspector - Know how is connected!! ( more than 100.000 active installs )

Do you want to know if someone is connected to your wireless network without your permission? Your connection is slow and you suspect that someone are stealing your wifi? Are you afraid that the neighbor may have access to your personal data?
Wifi Inspector is a simple tool to see all the devices connected to our network (both wired and wifi, whether consoles, TVs, pcs, tablets, phones etc ...), giving relevant data such as IP address, manufacturer, device name and MacAddress.
Wifi Inspector also allows to save a list of known devices with custom name and find intruders in less than 30 seconds. This makes it easier for us and you will not need to go checking the data whenever we make a scan.
All this in a clear and simple design that allows us to see that our personal data are safe in a few seconds.
No doubt, Wifi Ispector ALWAYS find ALL connected devices!!
We continue working to improve Wifi Inspector and we greatly appreciate that you share your opinions whether positive or negative. We have almost no reports of problems in the poor ratings (only one star with no comment) This makes difficult that we can improve the application. Please if you have any problems / suggestions do not hesitate to send it to us, in your comment or with email, and we will try to fix it.

Very Interesting Concept however it failed to work. Did not detect my nexus 7 2013. Only found the router and my device. (Moto G)
Netgear router.. wifi passworded protected (possibly WPA2).
And interstitial ads on exit first time i've seen that.

Hi hotspot_volcano,
In some cases a device close de wifi in suspended state or is time out response caused by a low connection quality. We tested in few big nets with more than 100 devices with no errors.
Have you tested Wifi Inspector from the Nexus with same results? and in other wifi?
Thanks for your comment

Well on the nexus 7 2013 (rooted) I was able to find the connected wired device as well as my phone. (found 6 devices)
They are marked with an cross whatever that means?
Tried it again on my Moto G (stock) and it still shows only 2 devices.
And the wifi router is problematic sometimes its hard to connect to it but once a device is connected its good 90% of the time.
The result on your Moto G : Wifi Inspector reset the wifi connection at start, then if fails to reconnect or reconnected in more than 30 seconds may not locate all devices. Try scan with other router, i think your get good results.
A device with a cross means that is not in the "safe list" (known devices). You can add your known devices on the "device screen" and, if you want, can set a customized name. For the next scans you will see all known devices with a "V" mark and with the customized name.
I tried it out, looks promising. I compared the reported attached devices from my Netgear WNDR3700v2 router with Netgear Genie. Everything matches up, nice job!
The UI is fairly pleasant, but does not adhere to current Android design guidelines. You've got the option to delete known devices list hidden in the legacy menu. My device does not have that by default, however I add it with GravityBox specifically for older apps that still have it. Folks with devices that do not have hardware / software menu button will never discover that option. If you add the 3 dot menu in the upper right for it, that would work well for now. If you decide to add more things, you could also add it there or create a hamburger menu in the upper left.
I haven't found any bugs to report thus far, that's always a good sign. Keep it up!
As I mentioned in my Play Store review: Those that think this can ban unknown users must realize you can't do that from your stock router firmware to begin with, how could a simple app do that?
The application seems ok, but compared to Fing network tools, this doesn't bring anything to the table, and it has ads. So, nice work but it offers not much.

First of all, thanks so much for your comment.
About the hidden option "reset known device list", the true is that we are thinking about if it's really helpful or not, but is probably that we will change it on the next update.

Hi rbrandser , Fing is an excellent application, but exists many types of user and we think Fing is oriented for some and Wifi Inspector for others, ie, anyone can click and see if have or not intruders, but not everyone knows how to do a 'wake on lan "or even know what it is.
We have prioritized scanning reliability, simplicity and finally the design (in this order).
We understand that for many users with experience and knowledge Wifi Inspector may be "short", but for the rest, we offer an easy, visual and 100% reliable in the scan result application.
We will greatly appreciate that you share your opinion.
Can this app stop connection of the device ?
Good app, but I don't like the interface and it lacks a lot features, which similar apps like Dsploit and Fing do have. So for me there is no reason to use this.
No it can't

As far as I can see it's only able to tell you what devices are connected to your network and their MAC address. While it works like a charm in that department having a few more options, I must admit, would have been nice.
Using the app causes my phone to disconnect from WiFi, so not much use! (S4). Had to uninstall...
Good app,it works fine
Good app but the ads are annoying and I dont like the interface

Hi wouter-visser,
We tested Fing and Wifi Inspector in various scenarios and the general differences that are appreciated:
- Usually Inspector Wifi is faster in large networks with many devices.
- Usually Fing is faster on small networks with few devices.
- Wifi Inspector finds more device names (very important for intrusion detection)
- The reliability of scanning is very close to 100% in both (a bad coverage or occasional factor can make a device undetectable)
- Fing has more features (not required for intrusion detection)
- The Inspector Wifi interface is minimalist and fing is more professional.
We understand that wifi inspector is not for everyone, but we think that many people are grateful that can check if they have an intruder with a simple but accurate application.
We will greatly appreciate that you share your opinion.

We are a small software company and recently we have begun to develop applications for mobile devices. The ads are the way we get some benefits to further develop and improve our applications. We did not use intrusive advertising and we never will use it. Also is available the pro version (ad free) for people who want to support us.
Thank you for sharing your opinion is important for us.

I think you can use WifiKill for this (if you have android rooted) or Netcut for windows.
For security find the Mcc address of the intruder and ban him from the MAC address filter in the router.

Not 100% effective btw, a person with a little knowledge and some googling can easily spoof a MAC address. A better option would be to change/add a wifi password. Preferrably WPA or WPA2 with a nice long passphrase.
No issues here, worked well in a small network with 6 connected devices (and recognized all).
If you need help to translate to Portuguese-BR, let me know.
Thanks.

[4.4+ Android]GamePad for PC[Windows][Updated-06/01/17

Note: I don't have an older android version atm, so this is still only for android 4.4+
Now on google play
On Google Play
I haven't seen a working steering wheel controller for pc, so I thought to make a one. I used vJoy driver to create a virtual joystick/steering wheel and wrote an app in C# for to get control over it. This is my initial release, only the steering works now. I develop this app in my free time and I will try my best to update this frequently. I only tested the android app in my xperia z2, app uses accelerometer values to make the steering works. Should work on any device.
I thought to share with it you people, so I will get new ideas.
Please turn off auto-rotate in your phone before using this.
Using the open-source Vjoy driver, I made this app to those who don't have a Race Controller to play racing games on your PC.
Please turn off auto-rotate in your phone before using this.
