How to install Windows mobile 6.5 on HTC Android Phones like HTC LEGEND, HTC DESIRE.
you can't as far as I know roms have to be 100% custom made for a device to ever work
and wm is not opensource nor are any of the required drivers
could take man years to reverse engineer to get something semi working
and many people are beginning to prefer android over wm too not many developers in line to spend ages making something not all that popular
i can understand what do you want, same like me.
I need WM 6.5 pro, even 6.1 pro on my HTC Desire HD.
========================================
People who didn't use WM likes android, but some of them like me were using MW since it was Pocket PC with WM 2003SE.
Most of the software we are using under WM not available under android or apple OS.
So is there any way to use the HD2 WM on it or even other rom, but can work with it.
We need help.
Note: the one who likes android thank you but we are from the dark ages.
Any update on this one?
How about a simulation? For example I can run Android on my WinMo HD2, why not do the same on my Desire and run WinMo?

I personally don't think I can cope without WinMo, that's why as i'm looking at upgrading from my HTC TP2, I have nothing more satisfying in mind for now other than a HTC HD2 because I can just visit and play around with the likes of WP7 and Android while comfortably coming back home to Windows Mobile on a HD2. And again, I don't care what people say about WinMo being outdated. But as far as it's HD2, everything goes crisp and intact for me. Android is just iPhoneish IMO, although appears far better than an iPhone. But for a more traditional OS which is written to act like the more commonly used Windows on PCs, I pick WinMo.
Really miss winmo 6.5, not 7 or 8

I had an ATT Tilt 2 that I flashed various roms on before I went to my ATT Inspire last May and quite frankly I miss the full qwerty keyboard, 8 plus hours of battery life, and the whole simplicity and durability of WinMo 6.5.
WinMo notifications and ringing could be as loud as I set my MP3's to play. VS Android can't be heard sometimes.
WinMo Tilt 2 fantastic speakerphone VS Android poor quality speakerphone
WinMo Tilt 2 is 3G had better overall data and voice reception VS Android Inspire 4G....4G doesn't hardly exist anywhere YET.
WinMo Tilt 2 can be BOUGHT for around $100 VS ATT Insurance to replace Inspire is $135
Do I sound like a Window Mobile 6.5 fan? Yep, It's a good platform.
Android reminds me of iPhone which I had for all of 28 days and returned because I didn't want to be "married" to Apple.
But now that I've have a "faster" phone I can't see going back.......
If only I could incorporate both WinMo 6.5 and Android into one device.....
is it possioble to run windows 7 OS on a nokia n8?
Iirc WP7 is closed source.. and it would be difficult
Its hard to say at such a early stage, but there could be a possiblilty with the devs on XDA
im going to go out on a limb here and say no way in heck lol. HD2 which has almost identical hardware to every WP7 device doesn't have a port. Likely so you won't have access to live services, I.E. marketplace! so it would be very useless.
Couple that with being closed source, and MS controlling the drivers, you probably wont see this OS running on non approved hardware.

Agreed, but this was the same case with Android, nobody thought it would be possible to port it to the HTC sense phones at first, but now we can see many Android Ports
Nokia has completely own hardware. You can revive any device by using Jtag programmer but not Nokia, it has all own, also OS Symbian is no more used on other devices .
Nokia vs Others.
Sad to say Nokia is in past.
Just first article in google has nothing to proove anymore: http://ceoworld.biz/ceo/2010/11/10/how-nokia-lost-its-global-market-share-more-than-8-percent
too bad...nokia's hardware is by far the best in the entire smartphone market imo. HTC is almost catching up the hardware quality that nokia has. As for the proprietary hinge mechanism that nokia has, beats out all other competition. If only their OS was not so aged... hope maemo gives them the boost that will revive them back to their former position.

So NOT true, nokia its crap, thier OS (Symbian) sucks bad, HTC have the best smartphones in the market.
I know someone that got N8 and he said that is freezes A-L-O-T and the battery cover its stupid, U gotta open the bolts, so u cant reboot it every where...
Nokia... I think hTC its much better, HD2 can run many different OSs...
EDIT: not just htc are better (but they R the best... ) apple is better too such as LG...
Ok... well maybe we could port android?

That's the worst argumented post i've read in a while.
I know a friend who had a friend who knows someone with a N8.
I own both the N8 and a HTC HD2 with Android Gingerbread port and had a HTC Trophy with Windows Phone 7 for a few weeks to play with so its safe for me to say I have experiance on all aspects.
The HTC HD2 with Gingerbread froze as much as my N8 did! Both a few time's in the couple of months i've been playing with them.
As far as resetting the N8: hold down the power button for more then 5s and the device will reset! No need to remove the battery!
As for which device is best: they both have their strenghts and weaknesses.
It's what you need from your phone that makes one the best phone for you.

Probably not. For HTC device almost all devices have identical hardware cross platform.
This makes it easier to port the OS.
Nokia uses a different kind of CPU (ARM 11) as to HTC (Qualcomm Snapdragon with ARM v7 instructions) see here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(System_on_Chip), which will require a complete rewrite of the kernel and drivers for it. (Hope i'm saying this right, English is not my native language and I'm not a programmer )
i think n8 can't run the wp7 because of the hard ware
i think n8 can't run the wp7 because of the hard ware
WP7 need 3d acelerate
1ghz cpu
wvga
nokia o htc......windows7
For now, I think the Nokia N8 best model that ever appeared on the market ...
I think first next mobile phone (any manufacturer) that it had characteristics of N8 with more powerful processor
and memory (eg with Windows 7 or Android) and a standard USB and HDMI inputs, will have a market in the next 5 years!
FM Transmitter
12 Mp CarlZais
etc
Considering to buy a used WM6.x model for the android upgrade. Which cooked rom is the most complete at this point of time?

Do you mean which WM phone is running Android the best? I'd say definitely the HD2 (Leo), as its hardware is more than ideal for running it and the popularity of the device has given it a lot of developmental attention. Just about everything on the Android ports is working as it should.
However, if the HD2 is out of your price range, ports for the older devices such as the HTC Touch Pro are more or less complete.
With all of these (barring the Leo) it's important to recognise that the Android ports will never run as smoothly as WM does on the phones, nor as smoothly as Android does on phones which were designed to run it. For the same price as an old-ish WM phone you should consider a second-hand Android phone. Things like the G1 are going for barely anything these days and in my opinion they provide a much better Android experience than a Diamond or something similar.
was thinking of hunting down a used WM6.5 with at least a 1000mhz processor. Any recommendations is appreciated. Just hoping the model is as popular as the TyTN II in terms of development attention.

I'm in the market to buy a used Verizon phone, and I'd like to pick one that I can install WP7 on. What Verizon Phones are available that can have this installed on them?
HTC Trophy. Sick phone.

Right. I was aware of that one, but I was looking more into phones that could be flashed with WP7. Maybe a windows 6.5 based phone that can be upgraded. I'm not due for an upgrade at the moment and I need to buy a decently cheap phone. So I was making sure that there weren't any other phones for Verizon that could possibly be flashed to run WP7.

The only phone that can be flashed to run WP7 is the HD2 (that I am aware of) and it is a GSM so I'm afraid unless your on AT&T or T-Mobile, you'll have to stick to the Trophy.

The only phones that can have WP7 flashed to them are phones that are released with WP7 on them (for now at least) all BAR the HTC HD2 as that is just a beast of a phone that has had Android and WP7 portered to it.

Windows Phone 7 has strict hardware requirements that pretty much make any Windows Mobile 6.5 phone and below incompatible with it. Even the HD2 does not follow the exact guidelines, but it is the only phone that has a working Windows Phone 7 port and its likely going to be the only phone with a Windows Phone 7 port since the hardware is similar to a current Windows Phone 7 device out (HD7).
Verizon only has the Trophy, and that is your only option if you stick to Verizon.
Judging by your post, I'm guessing you haven't done too much research on Windows Phone 7, so if you are looking to "upgrade" from a Windows Mobile 6.5 based device, make sure you read up on the major differences between the two operating systems. They are in no way similar at all aside from the name. And as most people have found out when thinking that Windows Phone 7 is an "upgrade" to Windows Mobile 6.5, they become terribly frustrated by some of the changes and downright disappointed because they don't understand the differences between the two operating systems.
Windows Phone 7 is not an "upgrade". Its an entirely new mobile operating system. Keep this in mind.
1ghz Proc, 400mb ram etc.
I always thought WM was actually a very good OS, its just the specs that the phones had couldn't match the OS's needs.
Imagine a WM with Dual Core 1ghz, 1gb ram and a great wvga screen, it would be great! No slow downs, no crashing, lots of multitasking.
WM could have been much more imo.
So was is there even a WM that has better specs then the HD2? Or was that the last one of its kind?
Before moving to a android phone I was looking for a phone similiar to hd2 because that was on tmobile. As far as I know that was the latest and greatest of wm. I too liked it very much.

That was the first thing I wondered when I got my first android phone. How great the hardware and screen would have been compared to the HTC 8525 I had used before. I think the HD2 was the most powerful US carrier subsidized WinMo phone. If there are any others I would think they would be European models. With WinMo each device has a license for the OS, bought by the OEM. For this reason it would be illegal to load WinMo on any current android devices, but it would be interesting.
