I posted this under the HardSPL thread, however nobody has responded for days, so I'm starting a new one.
I have a Verizon TP2 and Windows Vista 32bit. I have successfully connected with WMDC and am in "Connected" status. If I run the unlocker in Auto mode the program crashes back to the desktop. If I run the program in Manual mode, I get to a screen that says my current image version is 1.18.605.12 and can select the Update button. When I do that it says I want to update from 1.18.605.12 to 1.00.OliNex and I click Next. I get the percentage bar window momentarily then a window pops up saying "ERROR [246] : DEVICE IS NOT RESPONDING, click Exit to quit. I've installed the enablerapinew.cab and installed it to device, but still no love.
Any ideas, I've tried disabling AV, rebooting phone, rebooting computer, different activesync modes, etc.
I have the Same issue
same here
Got the same issue tried everything pretty much so far. I PMed cmonex and waiting for respond now .

So I am trying to play with my new tilt for the first time, and after lots of reading I began to try. I am starting with POF's Hard Spl package, and I am stuck with that. I followed all of the instructions precisely, but when I get to the RUU screen, it says to connect PDA phone to the USB cable, and establish an Active Sync connection. Well it won't establish an ActiveSync connection now...and if I just check the box, I get the ERROR [260] Connection message, and it says to hit esc to finish. Then the phone is just stuck on the tricolor screen, and only thing I can do is reset.
So....now what? I have tried to google and xda search this problem, I saw one person with the same problem, but then posted back a little while later saying he resolved the issue, but didn't say how...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Yes. Use another computer.. or disable your firewall or de-activate your AntiVirus program. You have some sort of conflict in the drivers. It happened to me and the only it worked for me is when I switched to another PC to do the upload.
I will have to try it out on my laptop when I get up...but I have no firewall enabled, and no anti-virus running. But if this is a driver issue, then I don't see how those 2 things would come into play?
So, switching to my laptop worked, thank you for that. I have sucessfully installed Dutty's v3 rom, but now it seems my battery depletion is on a downward spiral. It has gone down 10% in less than 10 mins, and it is just sitting on the table, nothing running.
Any ideas on that?
Also is there anything else after the rom install that I should add/do? I
have seen a few different posts about radios...not sure will keep looking lol...
Thanks again,
Michael
I had the Error [260] Connection issue at some point in the beginning of flash process.
Changing to a different usb-port in my laptop solved it to me.
Hi all,
i am really very disappointed, already spent around 12 hours looking for a solution,
the WMDC does not run at all on my Vista machine which is Business 32-bit,
i tried to uninstall, install again, reboot, more than 20 times, with no luck
this is making me creazy, i couldn't find someone suffered the same
please help me, i am willing even to pay for this help
regards,
sounds like a corrupt vista install I would reinstall or restore it back to default
how to confirm its vista
Hi..
thanks for your post?
how did you confirm that its vista issue,
could i just put the vista CD and ask to rebuild?
will it remove my files on the system
yes itll delete everything
my advice would be to get 7
"i couldn't find someone suffered the same"
was a bit of a give away
you could try another vista computer to verify
or if you're using usb you could try using bluetooth and virsa versa
personally I never had any problems with vista wmdc
its not showing the interface
my home vista machine is working fine,
my machine, is not, its not yet about connecting my mobile,
the software it self is not showing,
i install it, without any error msg, it shows in the start menu, and in the programs of control panel,
but when i click on the icon in the start menu, nothing show at all,
i belive it should show the interface even if the mobile is not connected yet,
acctually it shows ew devices
hi.
it shows new devices as unknown device then the driver couldn't be found
if it's a work computer they prob just removed the rights of installing new hardware
from your user account
i tried both with my user which is part of the administrators group, and also tried with the administrator account directly,
both resulted the saem
it takes around 1 minute on the "0 remaining time"
then it just hide without saying its finished or completed,
the result is an icon in the start menu,
and in the windowsmobile directory in windows folder, it shows some files, like setup, and drivers
then if i check properties of the icon in the start menu, it shows that its for first time installation,
i click on it, it install again
then the changes are on the windowsmobile folder in windows folder more EXE files are there like WMDC.exe (but if run it, nothing comes out)
if i recheck the properties of the icon on the start menu, there is no more target application, (you could call it broken link)
whats happenning
i went through the installation part of it,
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/install.htm
its exactly what happen with me,
but my side i reach the screen which shows "Installing device driver software"
then it failes after,
if i check the devices i find that it find a bluetooth device, but cannot install it correctly
I'm trying to prepare my old 6700 to give to a friend, but can't get it reflashed to the stock sprint rom (APAC_SPCS_20600_300_11200_ship.exe, downloaded directly from Sprint). It appears the phone is stuck in the 1.00 bootloader (dark screen, says "SERIAL" until I connect the USB, then changes to "USB".
MTTY couldn't connect (no "USB" in menu), but nueTTY can. The problem HERE is that once I'm connected, I have no idea what to actually DO. Searching returns about a thousand results, and all the results I looked at either didn't resolve the problem and left it hanging, or involved PMs that solved the problem for THEM, but left no information of enduring value for anyone ELSE to read. I've seen dozens of postings saying "use MTTY to run the exit bootloader app", but no hint of what that app actually IS, or how to go about launching it.
So... with the phone tethered via USB, 1.00 bootloader active, and connected via nueTTY... what do I do next?
Decided to take the plunge and flash my Dash 3G..downloaded the Dash3G HardSPL by JockyW, unzipped it on my PC and ran the auto.bat. Copied JumpSPL. exe to my phone and executed it on the phone. Ended up with a Jump address dialog box.
I'm sure I have overlooked something, but can't figure it out. HELP!
Thanks in advance.
Next steps
Figured out my problem, but have now ran into another.
When I get to the point where I click the trackball to continue execution of JumpSPL, the phone displays turns dark and then I lose USB connectivity. The romupdate displays on my PC, but I am unable to reconnect via ActiveSync. Ideas?
That's normal. After the JumpSPL starts on your phone activesync disconnects. Another type of connection (htc sync, you should see the driver in devicemanager) takes over.
Thanks Jockey. That may be the issue as it doesn't ever appear to switch to htc sync. I am also not seeing anything like that in the device manager. Ideas?
I do see JumpSPL on the phone.
I appreciate your help.
Alrighty,
So I keep trying to update my g2x through LG but I continuously get an error message that says, "Problem with communication between cell phone and PC", and then it never goes past 4%. Yes, I've downloaded the proper drivers, and have followed the prompts of disconnecting the phone, removing the battery, powering back and pressing restart (countless times). None of it works though. And no, my phone isn't bricking up on the SW update, so that thread doesn't really help me.
I've been doing some research and it seems that it just doesn't work for some phones, but I'm wondering if anyone here has been able to successfully troubleshoot this.
Yeah, I'm one of the unfortunate ones that got a bad phone a while ago, so I'm hoping I can find a way to make it work...
Thanks in advance!!
I have had the same problem. I have a G2x that I got off ebay. It was un-moded, running stock Froyo 2.2.2. I went to the T-Mobile / LG update site and followed the steps. The program actually worked the first time, it went through the whole update procedure and said it was complete. The phone restarted, but when it restarted it no longer recognizes the SIM card and there is a question mark for the battery symbol. When I go into the settings, it does not show a baseband version. I have tried to re-install using the update program, but it stops after 36% saying "Problem with communication between cell phone and PC". Any ideas?

Mine did this the first time. This is where the phone is never commanded to boot into S/W update mode so at least this is not a step where it can be bricked, as no update has actually occurred yet.
This is how I fixed it and got mine to update. Use a different USB port on your computer. Yes there are different as some are on internal hubs. The update must have a direct USB port with no hubs in between. I also reinstalled the drivers through the LG Update program and not from the LG website. When I did this and plugged in my phone about eight new devices were detected and installed as opposed to about two the first time around. Also, make sure your phone is in debug mode in Android application settings.
Then make sure you disable any anti-virus programs and turn off the Windows firewall. Then use ctrl-alt-delete and close down any programs running. Also go to the taskbar and click on the up arror (if Windows 7) and right click on each icon and see if you can close it down. Also, unplug all other USB devices (even a mouse if you don't need it) as they can interfere with communications between the updater program and your phone. The only USB device I left connected to my computer was the keyboard.
The LG Updater must be run in Admin mode. If when you run it you get a Windows warning asking you if it is ok for this program to make changes to your computer then it is launching in Admin mode. If not right click the LG Updater icon by clicking Start>All Program>LGMobile Support Tool>LGMobile update. Right click the last item and run it in admin mode. Again this is assuming you are running Windows 7. Admin mode is not necessary for Windows XP.
If all the drivers get loaded properly and you are not on a flakey USB port then at 4% the updater instructs the phone to reboot into S/W Update mode and that is where the real magic happens if you are lucky.

Use another USB port and try again. At various points in the update the updater resets the phones usb port and it has to reconnect. If it doesn't connect don't do a battery pull. Just try removing the USB cable and reinserting it. If you hear the computer beep wait a bit and then click restart on the updater. Hopefully it should see the device this time and continue the update.
