My Dog got a hold of my Fuze... - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Anyone know any sources of FUZE/Raphael parts? As you can see from the pix, she chowed down right on the "Send" key. I've found a few disassembly guides, and I'm no stranger to disassembleing HTC phones, but parts are hard to find. Well, other than canibalizing from a broken phone.
Anyone have any ideas?
THANKS!

how about ebay?

Any Newer suggestions?

I feel your pain, even sourcing eBay for parts is difficult. I have a problem that the Up volume key on my Fuze is stuck (only really a problem when turning the phone on) but finding parts is difficult.
My screen and buttons are also a little scratched, but again, hard to find parts. I can find some on eBay but its almost an entire phone ($140 for the parts) but does not include the keys on the front.

Polaris Scroll Wheel \ D-PAD Broken :( Need Advice

If anyone knowledable on anything that pertains to my problem could help me out I would be very grateful..here's the scoop..
I have had my polaris for over a year now (out of warranty) and for the longest time I've had issues with the touch screen not responding correctly and having to re-calibrate it all the time. I finally figured out what the issue was yesterday after I hard reset the device and the screen was still messed up...I had been using a dock for this device that isn't manufactured very well -- using the dock day in day out for a few months at work actually bent the pins on the USB connector on the cruise to the point where some of them were touching each other (yikes!)
So, I gave the phone to my dad who's an engineer, he took it to work and used a microscope or whatever and some tools and got the pins back straight again..now the screen works fine! Needless to say that dock is in the garbage now. The brand was "BoxWave" -- stay away from their products, they are JUNK!
Anyways -- I still have a problem with the scroll wheel.
Spinning the wheel does not work at all -- the Up, Down, and Left buttons work when pressed, and the wheel does light up, but spinning it doesn't do anything. Also the Right button doesn't work either. The button in the middle works okay. All of the working buttons cause the light to go on.
The logical conclusion here to me anyways seems to be that the bent pins caused permanent damage to the scroll wheel...I'm very glad it didn't cause perm. damage to the screen (or anything else, so I hope!!)..but anyways -- what would be the best option for me at this point?
Call HTC and have them fix it and pay out of pocket?
About how much would they charge for something like this (ballpark)?
My dad is a very skilled electrical engineer -- he would be willing to take it apart and fix it for me at work..he's got all the tools and stuff for it and doesn't mind at all...what parts should I look into ordering?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide here.
Hi,
I have a similar problem the up, left, right and turning the wheel does not work on my polaris either and I have not damaged it whatsoever. So, i do not think your button problem is because of a possible short circuit. But, sorry to tell you but I do not have a solution to the problem.
I thought I was certain, but occaisonally my screen still dies.
Perhaps it was permanently damaged? It is much better than before though -- but no matter what I do -- the wheel spinning does nothing, and the Right key does nothing at all.
Do you have any clue what part we would need to get replaced?
I am looking to replace the screen as well due to scratches.
I believe it's called a "digitizer" (the screen part not the wheel)
No, sorry. But if you do find out let me know as well.
Thank you.
found this on ebay
Hi,
Guys I found this on eBay. It says it can repair this kind of issue. Although I do not have the time to test.
So, here it is
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Touch-Cruis...ries?hash=item19b5e3f64f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
P.S. if anyone does test this please give us your feedback. Thank you
What?
Did you post the wrong link or something?
That is a SIM card.
This thread is about the scroll wheel \ DPad.
EDIT:
Nvm, I see in the auction it says its a ribbon or something.
I dunno about this one...but it's cheap.
I still have not even gotten around to repairing my screen \ usb port though...god damn money.
If i order this ill let u know.
OK so I just purchased a new charge port and digitizer, but I have yet to see ANYONE selling a replacement scroll wheel.
Alot of people are selling the "housing" but it's missing the wheel!
Anyone know where to get a replacement metal panel and wheel only, not the entire housing?
I found a jog wheel for the shadow -- wonder if it would fit?
I have the same issue, the jog wheel doesn't work and neither the right button, but everything else works & lights up the keypad part....strange that this is 3 of us with the EXACT problem, maybe there's something we need to figure out? btw, i used to hardly use the buttons, but i used the jogwheel a lot to scroll.
I also have the BoxWave dock, however, i've found mine to be of great quality & use...reading your post made me paranoid so I checked my usb connecter over & over but thankfully everything looks very normal.
I came across this post, because I was actually looking for some user advice on replacing your own housing & wheel. I already found the entire housing & keypad on ebay that comes with the screwdriver set, and i have the manual to assemble & dissassemble.
I would rather do it myself so i wouldn't have to do without my phone while waiting for this to get repaired, but i also don't want to do it if it's very tricky with a big chance of busting phone, so i'm looking for a feel of easy-medium-hard. I've already done something similar 3 years ago to my I-Mate Jamin as well as replacing the speaker, so my technical skills are probably around mid-level.
Anyways best of luck, i'll update this post later to tell you how it went (this could be in 2 weeks time from now).

Housing including the jog wheel and electronics?
I also ordered a usb connector and apparently they sent me one that isn't compatible with the cruise...I think I am just gonna buy a broken one and get the parts from it..they seem to be rare compared to other HTC models!

and i also found this for you (is that what came wrong), but you have to make sure it's the 2007 Touch Cruise and see if yours is the POLA100 or POLA200:

I had the same problem but on a 2 year warranty Touch Cruise. Phone was fixed and re-installed with WM 6.1
Know I face Bluetooth connection problems again and the BT hotfix is not accepted anymore.
I do have to say that the upgrade after re-installing should have been left behind.
I have the same problem... Scrol wheel not working en button to the right
anyone ever fixed this?
Hey Guys!
I've got the same problem with the wheel and the right button. So I was wondering if anyone fixed the problem?
I have no warranty anymore
I think I know what's your problem, mates.. It seems that it is essential for almost any P3650 - the cable, which is going from the jog wheel to the keyboard control unit tears apart just before (or exactly at) the copper pads on the molex thingie, that plugs into K/B unit (damage is so slight, that it barely can be seen).
I had no luck looking for the jog wheel sold seperately from housing, or at least with that plastic-chromed buttons cover. If anyone finds out that it is possible to obtain it seperately - I would greatly appreciate
Btw, same problem goes for sim holder's cable - I have replaced mine 2 times already (you can get 'em for around 15$ from ebay).
Sorry for my english - it's a bit rusty atm
Same problem here..wheel doesn't function can't find the part by itself ..
Touch Cruise jog wheel & keyboard
Exact same here - jog wheel scrolling broken & right selection does not work. Besides, my "call" key stucks time to time.
So for now I've just got both of them - jog wheel and keyboard (not the entire housing) from ebay, 15 & 7 $ respective
wheel ordered from the following ebay location :
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=260656153778&si=1E2jM09T8qOM9DzM6uzrXo5Qiqg%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT
same provider has keyboard also, for some reason it is not on eBay active items. But you can contact the seller and ask for it.
I gonna replace both in a near future, and will update about the result.

AT&T Tilt Keyboard Replacement

I recently took apart my AT&T Tilt, actually, I took it apart about six times! (So, if anyone wants help and advice I can surely tell you how to do it).
The keyboard, certain keys have stopped working. The problem is some keys require firm presses started before I pulled the phone apart, but finally in the last pull apart, some keys stopped working altogether. I guess I just exacerbated or accelerated the deterioration of the keyboard.
I ripped out the keyboard (the qwerty keyboard, not the keypad on the front of the phone). The housing remains attached. After I did this, I read on xda that this is not what should have been done, because the keyboard itself is not the issue. I can verify this, because I now have the circuitry, for want of an apt description, lying underneath the keyboard exposed. When I depress those circuitry corresponding to the faulty letters on the keyboard that don't work, surprise, it doesn't work either, even though those circuits, respond in feedback as if I was depressing the keyboard. (I am wondering if ripping out the keyboard was a wise choice....................).
Prior to ripping out the keyboard, I pulled the phone apart and re-attached the keyboard membrane to the motherboard, so yes, I at least followed that procedure.
My conclusion is that I need a new keyboard with housing.
First question, would anyone concur with this conclusion? If not what could it be?
I am not having any luck finding just a keyboard with housing without having to pay astronomical amounts, i.e. prices allowing me to justify buying an iPhone! I have seen parts for sale in the xda marketplace. I have found a replacement keyboard and housing for a TyTnII/ Kaiser (from here https://www.gsm4world.us/htc-tytn-ii-p4550-oem-keyboard-w-flex-d-01433_297.html) , which I know has a different keyboard layout than the Tilt. However, this unit is for sale at a very competitive price and I am tempted to buy it.
Here's the challenge. I have a standard AT&T ROM. If I buy this keyboard, how do I get the keys to map correctly? I know that when I depress certain keys on this keyboard, it will respond as if it were an AT&T keyboard. If there is a keyboard driver I can load onto my Tilt that would be ideal. (I don't want to flash an entire ROM for the phone).
If anyone is aware of alternatives, such as a cheaper supply of AT&T Tilt keyboard with housing, or how to stick on a new keyboard and fix the non responding keys, I would be all ears. I have spent too many hours on this already, enough to justify buying a new phone outright!
Thanks all.
I changed my keyboard and I have orginal one I can trade my old one for reasonable price
Zombie.raised,
Can you confirm the keyboard is from an AT&T Tilt. If so, does it work? Do all the keys work?

Thinking about restoring my TP

Sooo, my Touch Pro has acquired many scratches along the way, and the buttons are a bit wonky. The home button has a sort of... Fold towards the upper left edge of it, the spacebar and backspace button requires more firm press for it to respond and I'm thinking of giving it a new lease of life.
As for the scratches, I was wondering would Brasso work? What would you guys reccomend? Same goes for the other teency problemos that's starting to get me to hate my TP day by day xD
Pick up an OEM case/keyboard (digitizer if screen scratched) off eBay, have some genuine cases off recycled devices at graded conditions.
Any other option is pointless.
Interesting, I've been attempting to search for guides on xda-developoers regarding how to change them pieces of hardware but I can't find any.
Do you know of a guide somewhere or would the process require more of an intuitive approach? They keyboard's top priority at the moment sooo, the rest can wait xD
How bout the screen itself? There's no deep scratches, just minor ones from daily wear and tear accumulated over the months, how would I get rid of em? Or AT LEAST make em almost unnoticable? =D
As for the buttons on the main screen (the ones with the call and hang up buttons), is there any way to replace them or am I stuck with em forever?
EDIT: I popped through the archives and found a couple of links, now to actually know how to replace them :s What I'm gonna be replacing would be they keyboard as a priority, but at the same time, I'd like to know how to replace the digitizer or the LCD itself. I heard the latter would be a more complicated process and due to a teenager's allowance, I doubt I can afford to lose this phone or break the parts that I plan on buying xD
Service manual can be found in wiki & via google search.
Screen replacement tips can be found in some threads & youtube may have some guides too.
It is not too hard if you read up well on dismantling & take a lot of care.
You could always strip it down before commiting to purchasing parts and then you can judge your chances of successful reassembly before commiting $
Another option could be buying a device with hardware fault if housing & screen good !

[Q] looking for part for my MT4G-SLIDE not available (that i can find) retail.

i purchased on e-bay a MT4G-SLIDE . . it was a phone that was taken apart and robed! of it's main ribbin. at that time the ribbin was'nt available. so i got the phone for a fairly good price noing sooner or later the ribbin would be available....

HELP!!!! ME PLEASE I NEED SOME BUTTONS TO PUSH!!!!!! [email protected]
This ebay seller is still selling parts from at least two broken MT4GS's.
Emailing him/them won't hurt...

You are looking for the actual physical buttons, right? Not the flex cabling behind the buttons or whatever?
This seller on Amazon has it for the MT4G (not Slide): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WBFLXE/ So, it might really be possible.
(If you are really stuck, I would be happy to sell you the buttons off a broken MT4GS for $200. )
i appreciate your offer!!!!!
butt i just wouldn't feel right separating you from the vary rare solid gold keys (buttons)you have....what i was kind of thinking is maybe somebody out there has one of those MT4G-SLIDE PAPER WEIHTS you know the one's with the regular old plastic buttons/ keys. that is all i really need.........again thank you for your time D:

[Q] HTC One X - How to replace hardware keys

Hi,
I've got a question related to the HTC One X. More specifically, all of a sudden my soft keys (back, home, options) started not working. The thing is, I took a look over eBay, and a screen replacement doesn't seem to be that expensive.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure which I would need to buy. I saw there is a LCD screen and a screen digitizer. Which one would I need, or would I need both? I've seen that basically the bottom keys are all connected to a strip and I figure that if I change that that part of the phone, my problem should be solved.
Now, another question would be if I should do it alone, or should I take my phone to a specialist? Taking a look over some YouTube videos, I saw that it's not that complicated to replace the screen of the phone. However, I wouldn't want to start something that would end up messing my phone ever worse than before. I'm not completely retarded when it comes to electronics, but still, better to be on the safe side.
I'm just hoping that some of you guys did this before or has experience with this sort of stuff and can offer some tips.
Thanks a bunch.
You'll need to screen and the digitizer, trying to separate then without destroying either is virtually impossible. The best option if to have it done professionally, but that is also the more expensive option obviously. If you have the right tools and the capability you can do it yourself, but I wouldn't try it unless your confident.
