strange problem - Touch Pro, Fuze General

ive had a bse cover on my fuze for almost a year and finally pealed off after oo much pocket fuzz for in the corners i messed up and relized that that my screen has square in the center with multicolored squigggly lines in it....unti now i always assumed it was water or something stuck under the screen protectec now i relize its under the screen...>_> anyone know what this is ? r if its fixable? doesnt affect the screen at all and hardly noticeble if your looking at it directly but at an agle its an obvious rainbow rectangle......any help would be greatly appreciated

Is your warranty still valid from ATT?

i bought in december...didmt even know it had one

There have been other posters that complained of the same thing.
I believe it is a faulty screen.

did att replace their phones?

Yes, if they were still covered because it was not physical damage.

Mine too.. But i have a screen protector on it so I figured maybe its the screen protector? never really check it without the screen protection.
Yes.
My first fuze did this after a few days, its an exact square with sort of a frame, I was thinking it was condensation, but my phone has been dry always....
I thought it was weird that it was square shaped and a almost perfect square.
Anyone know what this is?
Yep...nothing unusual for raph unfortunatelly...my old post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2934571#post2934571
BTW, this is well known issue by HTC so replacement is in most cases done free of charge as a part of warranty. Eventhough I've heard that in some cases in UK, HTC was demanding some kind of payment for replacement.
Anyway, this cannot be fixed in any other way but replacing the screen....afaik
I was told that it means that the screen under the digitizer is broken. Most likely from pressure on the middle of the screen.

Oh man, mine just expanded Can I know what did you guys do?
Pressure between flat wires, conductive tapes and backside of LCD screen causes the problem. You should take apart your Raphael to see the back of LCD. There is a very thing black tape around the display. Check it for any kinf of damage. If there is no sign of penetration, make the same thin tape from any kind of office tape and place it over dark one. I hope this can help you.
Be a HTC Indiana Jones, take the danger and DIY!
i was just about to start a post about this. the middle of my screern (75% of the screen) has these rainbow swirls and they form a perfect rectangle. you can also see a grid of dots. once i noticed this square i started havin problems where its as if someone is pressing the touchscren just on top right corner of this rectangle. so i cant go through menus and it will randomly go away. it also happens on other random locations. can someone explain what i should do?
Mine just did the same thing. The phone seems to work normally. I called and I am sending it in for warranty repair. Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future? If they replace the screen, do they have some process in place to prevent the same issue? I really love this phone!
Oh, and now my iPhone loving friends are all saying, "You shoulda got an iPhone!" I dont want a crappy iPhone, I just want a good screen! This is my second phone already.....I have never dropped or abused it in any way.... I really wish they used better quality screens. i can do tons more stuff with my phone that my "iPhone friends" cannot....
UPDATE: to anyone who gets this problem. I finally got around to calling ATT and they say its not a known problem so its not covered within warrenty. They want 500 to fix it.... Then I called HTC and they said this is whats known as a Newton ring and its due to pressure applied to the screen so they wont fix it under warrenty. Now they are asking for 200 for it to be fixed. Not worth the fix if u ask me. Thier rep was pretty shocked it was on a Fuze and said hes seen this before and they never fix it under warrenty so its not worth sending it in unless im prepared for the bill.

fuze screen (damage?), at&t warranty (crap?)

I searched the forums and google and couldn't find an image similar to what is happening to my fuze.
So yesterday I noticed a problem with my fuze screen, and i don't know if i can't explain the problem or what, but at&t is convinced it's damaged and will charge me a bunch if i even try to send it in.
There are no cracks, scratches, whatever. (I wish i could take a pic, but the only cam i have is the phone)
The problem is that the surface of the screen (I think the soft touch screen top) seems to have a thin layer of 'something' in there. It is the same shape as the screen, centered, and about 70% of the screen's size. The effect is something like the shimmer/rainbow from a very thin layer of oil on water. (thin film interference?) Anyways, the touch screen still works, the lcd still works, the glass isn't cracked, and I have no idea what happened. I use a screen protector and am very protective of my baby.
I'm thinking I need to order a new digitizer and replace that? ($25 and some labor doesn't sound bad after talking to AT&T about what i would get charged if they decide it's physical damage)
I dunno, if anyone has experience with damage like this or at&t or replacing digitizers and has any words to help me, either with explaining what happened or what i should do, that would be much appreciated.
I had the EXACT same problem on my fuze. It looked like the layers of the screen began to seperate. AT&T scared me that they would charge me for this so I sent it directly to HTC and they replaced the screen at no cost to me...took about 2 weeks.
AT&T Warranty agents are trained to be cautious in regards to damage to devices as the mail program doesn't leave much(any) option once you send the phone back for the exchange. It's either no-damage/no-charge or damage/charged, after which you cannot go back on the exchange.
My advice is to see if there is a Device Support Center in your area.
http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solutionId=KB91429
I went to one with my possibly damaged Fuze and they took a look at it and exchanged it without any "possible" charges jargon.
If that isn't an option, you could buy a pre-paid phone to use while you send it in to HTC as TheSopranos16 did for repair.
Good luck!
Sir, the problem you have is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439410
I only hope my xperia doesn't get it.
i have this same exact problem. its technically called a newton ring. att wanted $500 to fix it and the htc rep told me that whenever they encounter this they usualy dont cover under warenty because it is due to pressure on the screen and it would cost something like $300 to fix. so i basically said forget it and now im stuck with it.

Dust under glass? anyone else have this problem?

picked up 2 Nexus S on release day, went home happy. Preoccupied with work, so I only powered them up last night.
To my Surprise, both phones have dust under the glass! WTF Samsung? Removed the plastic sheet on the front to make sure, and yes, it's under the glass.
on one phone the dust was smack in the middle, while on the other phone it was a little left of the middle.
Can't be seen on a dark screen, but once you switch to a white background like the web or texting you can see it.
I know I am probably being OCD and anal about this, but heck I paid over $1k for both phones out of contract.
Went back to BestBuy and returned them promply, of course now they are sold out, and I have to wait for the next shipment.
Just wondering if others have similar experiences? BTW, I also had a Galaxy Tab and before returned it, it also had some dust specs under the glass...
I also own an HD2 and G2, seems HTC is better at QC.
Shame, really want this phone but WTF samsung?
Nope you sure its under the glass?

No dust under the screen here.
It seems that this first batch of phones is a rather mixed bag; some have defects and others are fine. It was a good idea to return them, hopefully your replacements will be free of issues.
My first S had a little speck of something. I initially thought it was a dead pixel, but I could see it when the screen was off also so I assumed it was dust. I returned it and checked the next one out before I left the store and it seems to be good.

100% sure, remove the screen protectors on both of them and rubbed the area where it was, thought it was a dead pixel too, but no it was fine on a dark background, but on a white background could see it easily.
sold out at my local bb, but still available online might go that route.
just wanted to see other people's experiences or maybe they didnt notice yet, lol.

this happen when you have 2 layers for the screen. the internal part and the upper part where you touch.
there is an advantage for this. if god forbid you dropped and broke the screen, only the upper part gets replaced. and wouldnt cost you much to do so " and you wont get another screen with dead pixel and being OCD whatever the new screen is good or not. because the actuall inner screen isnt touched.
the bad thing about is what you said. dust can enter in the middle between both layers of the screen.
even if you get a new nexus S without dust under the screen, if you leave it in the open area with sun and wind always hitting it, you will get a dust somehow inside as well. so make sure your phone is in a pocket most of the time.
the only phone i remember right now that had both layers of the screens touched as 1 part is the iphone 2G and the iphone 4 " i am sure there are others but i dont know "
this result to no dust under the screen no matter what " unless the dust came from factory while they were attaching both screens on top of each other and glue them "
but if you break your screen in the iphone 4.... god help you.
Yeah, after about a week and couple of days of usage, I've got my first spec of dust in the top left area of the screen. Really, it's nothing noticeable but I do have some sort of OCD with my phone (god help me if I get a visible scratch on the screen).
I don't think it's really worth taking it back to get it changed as this Nexus S I have currently has no problems whatsoever, I don't even have the pink or yellow screen issue with this one. I think I'm just gonna have to live with that one spec of dust for now...
I think this may be just bad QC. I looked at ifixit taking apart the NS. Basically they said the trickiest part to the disassembly was the screen, and they had to use a heat gun to soften the glue just to separate the 2 screens. So dust entering between those 2 screens would be pretty difficult unless the glue wasn't properly applied from the assembly line.

I don't have dust under my Nexus S screen... but I do have dust under my front facing camera! And its only recently just got there - I remember playing around with it extensively when I first got it 6 months ago and the camera was really clear and sharp.
Now it is all fuzzy and white haze. And I can see all the dust particles on the underside of the glass. Annoying!
Anyone know if there's an easy way to clean it? Or is it a case of back to Samsung?

[Q]Anyone had a screen shatter for no reason?

So, my screen broke yesterday.... yay....
Story behind it: I picked it up from its stand like Ive done a million times before, and the screen just shattered in the upper-left corner.
My educated guess is that the frame wasnt correctly assembled, and its been pressing the glass in such a way the glass eventually couldnt take it anymore.
And of course the place I bought it from says physical damages isnt covered by the warranty -.-
I should point out that, despite my mods on the charger/usb adapter/etc, my tablet has never been opened.
So now I have a tablet with cracked screen, which Ive always been extremely careful with, with people telling me they wont fix it under warranty...
It wouldve been fine had it not been for the 3 cracks covering the screen on the left side.
Thankfully the cracks on the touch-area are not all the way through, so at least I can use the tablet just fine.
Anyway, the question I wanted to ask...
Has anyone else had their screen crack/shatter for no reason?
Im kinda pissed off at the moment, both at ASUS for making such a fragile unit, and at the company refusing to fix it.

Have you contacted Asus about this? If you can, get really good pictures of the corner, showing the cracked glass and the outer housing. You might get a better response by showing that the glass broke but theres no damage to the housing, more or less providing pictures that it wasnt dropped. Just because im sure every phone/tablet company has heard every possible lie when people drop their phone or tablet and say "it just happened while sitting on a table". Not saying you did, just giving an example for why customer service sucks for physical damage.
That is a bit scary because I do notice that on mine there are sections where I can push in the glass slightly with a little pressure, so a tiny gap area, showing that it isn't fully housed properly. It's nothing noticeable or annoying.. but if my screen shatters D:
Almost always they claim it isn't covered i should make photo's of it like said before and sent them to asus yourself.
If they say its your own fault then i should check i you can repair it yourself
The screen for it is over here
http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&model=EEE%20Pad%20Transformer%20TF101&brand=ASUS
They also tell you through youtube how too fix your transformer
For all i know of reading on forums you also need a screen digitizer
You can check out this website
http://www.asusparts.eu/index.php?cPath=66920_222155_222301
They have a whole lott of parts for transformers
Good luck with finding a solution too your problem

Sent from my Transformer
They refuse to fix it... Ive just bought a car as well so I cant afford to send it in for repair, or buy a new screen and fix it myself.
I guess I'll just have to live with it for now.
Its not that annoying, it looks like theres a hair on the screen (yes, Ive blown on it several times forgetting its a crack lol).
Its no biggie if it doesnt get worse, except its not really as mobile as it used to be
Im just afraid it will break even more if I so much as look at it lol.

Thats how mine was, except I couldnt push the glass. There was no flex at all, which only sortof confirms that theres been a pressure on the glass. Ive always had a bit of flex on the right hand side though.
I should point out that now when the pressure is gone, theres a slight flex on the screen on the left side as well now.

[Q] Hi Xperia Arc S problem

Hi guys.
Basically my problem is, today I was getting my MOT done, waiting around. Was using my phone to text, it was working fine.
Put my phone in my empty pocket, 2 minutes later, felt it vibrate and noticed I had a call coming in, but also the screen had a hairline Y shaped crack in it on the inside at the bottom.
No drops, knocks or nothing and its in a protective silicone case. I'm now having to basically hope that Sony believe me and let me know if its warranty repairable other than this its £50 - £60 charge for something that I did not do. Assuming they accuse me of dropping it.
Ive checked the net and it seems im not the only one this has happened to (albeit on other types of phones too).
Its only 4 months old from new, its a PAYG phone and had no insurance eek: I know).
What ground to I have to stand on if any at all ?
Bumped - Any ideas people ?
Has this ever happened to you guys ?

Thats more in reference to the exterior housing cracking, where as mine is the inside screen with zero exterior damage. But I suppose I see your point. Maybe someone has the same problem there due to heat....
If it's internal damage I don't see any reason for sony to reject your warranty. AFAIK if it was due to user mishandling then an exterior damage would be done before interior damages happen.

Thanks man, this is my view on it too. Although I imagine it wont be sony's.
The phone is only 4 months old and there is the general wear and tea on the case, the odd mark where its in and out the pocket and some scratches on the screen protector. But apart from that its immaculate. There is no significant damage on the case that would suggest It smashed of the ground.
If they tell me its broke because its been in my pocket then.... well, who doesn't put their phone in their pocket ?
As i say, its internal, screen has hairline crack inside, and went black at the bottom and also, unless I pressed the screen it just remained black.
