Hello everyone, I've been searching all these roms but it seems that there isn't one single ROM with manilla. Can I install this on Universal? Tks
Short answer? No.
Long answer? Manilla (aka TouchFlow 3D) requires far too much RAM and processing resources to run properly on our Uni's. The biggest problem is (seems to be?) the lack of decent hardware drivers, since HTC wrote custom ones for the TouchPro, etc.
Of course it's a few months since I even attempted using any of the ports, so things may have changed, though I somehow doubt it.

But what about the 2D version?
I had one in my qtek 9090 (which is older than uni) and it ran just fine!
u can use this big-mem ROM by Cotulla: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468776 and install manila2d .. but if u have 64Mb uni, u will be memory low for something more with manila (i got 15-10Mb free with my 64Mb-Uni) .. its work very nice in portal mode.. and its so big, great for in-car use or similar
after install of manila, they will be small, not on full screen.. you must find VGA theme for manila2d .. search on forum
this is easy for install, ask if is problem find .. i think that on 128Mb uni it is will work very nice
//sorry for bad eng, big hello from Serbia
I would recommend to use ThrottleLauncher (just Google for it).
With the TF3D theme and with the Manila WeatherPanel installed it is great and fast (10-15 MB RAM, yes I know, but with a 128 MB Uni it's awesome ). But if you turn on the flash clock you will see, how many resources it needs, and it works only with 2-3 fps. But at least it is very customizable...
That's it,

Don't get too excited.
Just noticed that they have rearranged the TMobile Download Manager at http://www.iris-global.com/t_mobile_download/mdas.html
and it now includes downloads for the MDA Compact II (like Magician but WM2005).
Before you ask, no, it does not work with the standard Magician. But interesting nonetheless, especially for playing with it.
YEs Lets get to Work guys Maybe we can open te install file and get out the rom file and do the same thing whit this rom when we do Bigstorage upgrade ?!
why can't some hackers port this ROM to the magician??
the only problem seems to be bussiness, so why not take everything except the cpu part from those ROMs and get the CPU part from a Himalaya or any Xscale CPU WM5 ppc??!!
isn't that possible??
The OS part of the nbf is practically the same as the Wizard OS part, identical size too. If someone was working on porting this to the Magician they would of started ages ago when those roms came out. It might look like a Magician but thats about it, the mdac2 has much more in common with the Wizard than the Magician.
Go to http://buzzdev.net/
New ROM (not ROOM).
just kidding.
Downloaded and flashing now.
Thanks you and buzz.
Hi Vivi,
Are you going to do a 64 version? I'm excited enough about Buzz's v2 but would prefer to reflash and resplit my memory allocation at the same time.

Yes, I modified to 64WWE HERE
No other edits, only the RAMdisk space.
Many many thanks Vivi,
I'm reflashing as I type.

Hi Guys
I am currently running the Sin Merged v2.0 Windows 2003SE version of the OS on my XDAII.
What are the benifits of upgrading to the new 2005 OS?
does any one know if this version of the OS has less or more bugs then the 2003SE version I currently have?
Many thanks!
FB
Has any one tried this new update as yet and has used the older 2003SE OS, if so please could you let me know how you are finding it so far?
Is it stable?
What are the new features?
Is it worth the upgrade?
Many thanks
FB
YESS ... and with this ROM I feel littlebit faster ....
hi indra9110
Many thanks for the reply
Where you also using Sin's 2003SE ROM?
Have you noticed any problems with this the new 2005 ROM as yet?
Sorry for all the questions, I am trying to get my phone as stable as possible and have had a few issues with the original 2003 as well as 2003SE (better then original though) so I was hoping that the 2005 ROM would be even better?
Any extra details of what is included in this rom would be great as well as is it just a matter or running an EXE file and it does the rest for you? (As Sin's 2003SE rom did?)
Many thanks!
FB
TofClock has just posted his modified 2.01a ROMs (three versions with differing RAM disc sizes 0, 32 or 64) with all the fixes and tweaks identified as being needed in WM5 for the Himalaya (so far)... a few minor ones remain mainly dependent upon country, exact device etc but in the main it is receiving very good marks for speed, stability and functionality. I would certainly recommend it over WM2003SE.

Hi Mallow1
Many thanks for the reply, although I am more confused as to which one is better and what I should do now... LOL
Any idea as to what the diference is between these 2 roms?
Also do these both have support for Australian phone providers and settings?
many thanks guys!
FB
why does not many people seem to be using this ROM? Not much information about it :-(
Even the other ROM that Mallow1 seems to have a few issues.
Does this ROM have the same issues?
I'm trying to find a more stable and slightly faster ROM then the Win2003SE (Sin Merged 2.0) that I am currently using :-D
Has any one every found a rock solid ROM that works on the XDAII in Australia?
Cheers guys!
fudgebottom,
WM2003SE is not as good as WM5 (which haspersistant memory for your data so it won't get wiped when the battery goes, plus it has enhanced features over and above 2003SE in that it is the next generation up and benefits from chnages as to how users use their phoen.. too many to list but there is plenty to read in all these forums).
WM5 2.00a was adapted by BuzzLightyear from a plain vanilla official ROM (i.e. a ROM not modified to work on any specific pda platform). Buzz tweaked the basics so that it would load and run on our Himalayas, but no other mods were done to it. TofClock has then undertaken the other work needed to cutomise 2.00a to run better (faster, more stable and with less bugs). These ROMs are know as 2.01a (there are three so far each with a different split inthe memory allocation... WM2003SE allows the user to move a sliding bar to rebalance how much memory is used fro storage and how much for runnign programs. Because WM5 has persistant memory.. tis cannot be done and the allocation occurs by choising which ROM suits your needs best, 128MB RAM, 96MB RAM and 32MB "additional" storage (i.e. total still equals 128 MB), or 64MB RAM plus 64MB additional storage (the last is the one I use).
From what I've read, I think that all earlier versions of WM5 were not vanilla WWE (i.e. were in another language whichwas then translated back to English and had been originally service provider branded). All this was BuzzLighhtyear' work. WWE is World Wide English by the way. So the original ROM was then changed to work on Himalaya and bugs ironned out as best could (as we all beta reported). The last generation of these ROMs was 1.71 versions which still had various issues with their performance. In theory therefore getting hold of a vanilla ROM and modifying it for the Himalaya would therefore be the purest, cleanest route to go forward with. This is what 2.xx is based on.
WM5 2.01 versions are therefore cleaner and faster and more stable so far. If you wish to upgrade these 2.01a 128, 2.01a 96, 2.01a 64 are the best to date (Tofclock is working on further modification as these things continually update ad infinitum). Their minor bugs can be read over in Buzzdev.net where this is all documented in the posts/threads. Its easy to find... go read! The only difference between the three 2.01a versions is the memory allocation as mentioned above.
Hope you are less confused, but I have to say, read more as all you are asking is covered in these forums, wikis and related forums. Also these sites as the nme suggests are developer sites. Software is underdevelopement (beta) by definition. HTC (the makers of the XDA ii/ Himalaya, haven't released an official WM5 ROM for Himalaya, they did with WM2003SE). So if you are interested in beta work/ developement then go ahead and reflash with the WM5 ROM of your choice but there will always be somehting not 100% with the result. That's why we are all compiling the issues and tweaking ROMs.
Hope all this helps.
Kin regards - Mallow1
Hello, everyone here say that WM6 is much faster than original WM5 rom. I for one have managed to flash every shipped WM6 rom and what can I say: molski AKU 3.3 WM5 is BY FAR the fastest rom! Why is that?
I've encountered many issues connected with using wm6, like: softkey lag (it takes almost 1 sec. for wizard to proceed the softkey. The screen rotation is also slow.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

When you find out, let me know
I managed to "beat" the TMobile 2.26 in benchmark. System speed is similar, but still not the same thing.
What WM6 ROm version did you actually use to compare and how did you compare?
Lots of people here are now using WM6 including myself and I really don't see any issues regarding performance when you compare to WM5.
So, I suggest you to play little more specially with these recently ones like X-plore 1.1, read the benchmarks and see the difference.

I thought Molski's 3.3 aku was snail paced, 2.3 aku is by far the fastest. superrom1.1 with NO overclocking is faster than every other rom with overclocking! ymmv
Man, I've tried EVERY rom, starting from UNDERGROUND, through MB, and ending on Xplore 1.1
Each rom has the same issue, softkey lag, and slow screen rotation. Maybe it is faster in TCPMP or in whatsoever. Nevertheless, comparing to Molski WM5 or even T-mobile 2.26 - WM5 is much faster !
When talking of speed why don´t we share sktools benchmarks with and without overclocking to each ROM without any software. Just after hardreset, tweaks, and sktools.
Let´s start to compare??
BTW the overclocking speed that TCPMP shows is more specific than to compare batterystatus vs. omapclock.
Btw. after anichillus will be ready with Xplore 2.0 this discussion will end - because I believe him to create the fastest.
yea xplore 2.0 will be the tits
It would be a neat thing to compare all these roms. One added complexity is that many of the custom roms are by default overclocked, so they would need to be manually throttled down for the comparison to be fair. (For example, supperrom 1.1 is by default overclocked to 252 mhz, Molski's has both smartskey and battery status installed, but I don't remember the default settings.) In addition, filecache and sd cache settings can greatly affect reported sd read speeds. Also, I'm not sure how the benchmarks compare with "real world" speed, but its the best we have for now.
Have fun!
1. Xplore 1.1 (taken from thread) 195Mhz (BS)
2. XPlore 2.0 (early stadium) (taken from thread) 195mhz
Poppamops, a favor...
Since you're running the new x-plore, could you check the following registry values?
HKLM>Drivers>SDCARD>ClientDrivers>Class>MMC_Class:
BlockTransferSize
HKLM>Drivers>SDCARD>ClientDrivers>Class>SDMemory_C lass:
BlockTransferSize
HKLM>System>StorageManager>FATFS:
CacheSize
HKLM>System>StorageManager>Filters>freplxfilt:
ReplStoreCacheSize
I've found these tweaks will increase the reported SD read rate greatly.
Thanks,
Well i think farias wm6 (the real thing) is working awesome and it is so much faster than my mda with wm5. Especially the soft keys and especially the message buttons and internet explorer button on top of the phones. So i highly recommend this rom. And i think you may have a bunk wm6 rom. switch it up to one of the newer ones and you'll see a difference

At your clock speed no wonder it's going fast.
You'll burn your wizard if you keep it at 299 ...be carefull.
Well i am running Farias rom on my other 8125. I have 2 8125's and 1 MDA. On the one with farias rom it is only overclocked to 260. thats it. Havent really tried anything higher and really dont need to. ITs pretty fast. And Anichillus i have heard some real good stuff about your rom. seriously i had to ponder about which WM6 rom to use. EIther yours or Farias. Its just farias had a couple of programs already included that i needed. But on my next 8125 i will be running Xplore 2. So im looking forward to that one.
299mhz at BatteryStatus is only about 260+mhz in real.
Yeah i think it was about 270 something. somewhere around there

Also good for comparing clockspeed is tcpmp. It shows clockspeed
Guys , the BatteryStatus shows the right speed !
Other don't ! How can you trust a program with your CPU if it doesn't even show you right speed ?
How do I know that ? Well , just read clock speed with omap or any other just after flash...it should be 195MHz on a stoc rom ... then contradict me.
I think you're wrong anichillus. We may have 195 mhz omap processor, it runs on 170 mhz in windows though. It is a hardware but software trick.

roms
There is a long topic about your problem, all comment says there is no best rom, there are many roms out there, every one of them has pros and cons. Find one which best suits you.
I personally vote for this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332737
Using it for 1 day now, until now i like it the most. Fast, stable at original resolution, and you will have plenty of program memory. Just be careful with truevga, some apps doesnt support it. Like spb mobile shell's today plugin. If you active the truevga with that today plugin your uni will freeze at every start when it tries to load today. Also had a real bad looking crash with blinking display with truevga 128 dpi.
With original dpi it works like a charm! No crash, no freeze, no slowdown or memory leak.
hello stoto!! thanx for your help! I know nothing about flashing wm6 in universal lol

Hey Guys,
I know that this has been discussed a hundred times .
But let me at first explain:
This goes out to all you chefs which are cooking the roms (I'm not capable to cook one by myself)
So what I would like to have is a Kaiser ROM with a working Touchflo3d.
I've read and searched for hours and hours and found the rom from L26, but I think this had been an really early state. Now the drivers have changed and improved.
So is there anyone out there who is able to cook a rom (no matter if 6.1 or 6.5) with working TF3D and drivers?
I found out that there is a working version in this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465507
But it was not working with my rom (M-Opal 1.0) due to cooked M2D.
So it would give hmm a bounty of 35€ (€ not dollars) if anyone would prepare a working, fast rom with TF3D.
And I am also sure that there will be a lot of other useres who would love it.
Best regards,
Matthias

there are already tf3d roms and if your looking for one that will work flawlessly on our kaisers, not gonna happen.
Leo (L26) made a decent rom L26_KaiserTouch_V4_M3D that actually encompasses TF3d. I have not tried the others but I do love his rom even though it is not as smooth.
I wonder how it will work with 6.5 drivers. I'm going to take a shot at cooking it into josh's rom for you. We'll see how this goes.
Why should there be no interest in TF3D on a Kaiser? (@denco)
Because I've seen a lot of videos on Youtube where it is running smooth and it also seems nearly bugless.
Like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPf_gjMFBHs
or these one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDduRgWFweM&feature=related
What I want to fullfil my bounty should be:
1. Running TF3D
2. OpenGl-Drivers integrated in ROM (I think it is necessary to use TF3D)
3. The Standby bugfix should be integrated, which is located under the link in my first post.
4. Look and Feel like on the Videos (not any kind of "Tiger" or strange "Tribal" as system theme)
Optional but highly welcome: German Language
Or is it possible to install some kind of language pack? (I'm using WM since hmm 6 or 7 years but I've never seen such a thing)
I've tried the L26 ROM and it was not satifying to me because the speed was really low compared to the TF3D's on the youtube videos and it seemed very buggy.
If I'm not completely wrong, the version of TF3D from my first post is in an advanced state compared with the on from L26.
Thanks in Advance!
Would be nice to find some people who will help to increase the bounty!

Yes it can run smoothely'ish the problem encountered is lack of driver to be able to sleep device in the correct manor.
But there is a patch to solve that kind of problem or am I wrong?
Q: Whenever I try and put the device into sleep mode, it powers off instead?
A: Try disabling the today time-out. Also, make sure you installed the standby CAB right.

No there are work arounds but no real fix
Im still TF3D fan, but after many bug and slow on my Kaiser, i have to move on.. if somebody create or develop ROM with it, i will give a try..
With that standby fix Touchflo3d is disabled automatically before sleep mode. Biggest problem for me was that when the device wakes up it needs to launch touchflo again and that process was kinda slow. Sometimes it just get stuck and needed softreset.
Still, I would be curious to see how smooth tf3d would be cooked in with newest builds and drivers...Also, if I remember right 3d drivers won't work if you have super ram hack in your rom.
Whatever ;-) ...

I don't mind if there is a super-ram-hack or what else, in my opinion it should WORK
Also I think that all of you shall take a look in your money-bag if there is a possibility to make it a little more lucrative to work on such a rom.
As I also stated out that I will pay my full bounty only if it is able to run on latetest state of development - that means not that the chef has to develop touchflo3d once again but without bugs ;-) it means only that it should be able to run as good as possible at the moment.
But as I read yesterday evening, I saw that there are maybe two possibilities to get rid of the standby bug, but - forgive me - if did not looked detailed at these solutions - so I don't know how these work but maybe one of them is working better?
And when I'm right - all the roms with TF3D cooked in are with an earlier driver-version. The younger versions of the driver have improved, if I understood the development news made in the dev. and hack. section.
The TF3D-cooked-in-rom-threads are nearly all dated arround december '08 - and I read a lot of them

I am not saying that if you posted a working TF3d rom that no one would flash it, I would. But what is the effort /reward ?
What about it would make it better than my M2D rom ? Or anyone's 6.5 rom.
Enough great chefs put more than enough time into it, and could not get adequate drivers to make it smooth enough to keep as an everyday rom nor could they get by the stand by problem.
TF3D is M2D with some nice 3D touches that is all, am I missing something ? Is it head and shoulders above M2D or Neo Titanium, I don't think so. Which is why no one really cares to put in all the effort to make it work , nor is anyone really willing to spend any funds to make it work.
I am not being a contrarian or a nay sayer just for arguement sake, really With M$ coming out with cHome and Titanium, SPB out with MS 3, HTC coming out with Sense, there is a reason why people took porting TF3D as far as they could and then lost interest.
O.K. 0,5 Points for you
But I think that Sense is only for Andoid? Correct me if I'm doing wrong...
My problem is, that my Kaiser (and i think all others too) have not such a good touch screen accuracy... mine is terrible.
(yes, I cleaned out the frame and the edges...but on my bosses Kaiser the screen accuracy is also bad! - Compared to my - slow but accurate - P4350).
In my opinion the touchflo concept is one of the best solutions ever developed. But for me in person TF3D would be a nice looking (and little improved) upgrade. I'm already using M2D and I like it, but what I also like very much is for example the animated weather and the improved look and feel.
I have also tried 6.5 but with the terrible accuracy of my screen it is not so funny to use.. also it is not running such smooth as M2D and I in person think titanium is not everyones favourite choice. What i also do not like is the Honeycomb-Style... looks nice, but thats all.. O.k. the kinetic scrolling is good and thats one thing I like . But thats the only improvement I could see at WM6.5.
So whats your opinion: Is a rom with newest drivers and so on not for everydays use capable due to a lot of buggy functions? (I dont't know - I never used one ).
If I remember right, all the legendary cooks have tired TF3D and it doesnt work as it is supposed in Kaiser. Kaiser is just not made for TF3D. TF3D is more resource hungry, and our device just cant handle it.
I do believe there is a cab for TF3D available! Take a good lite 6.5 ROM with memory hack, and load it with TF3D, you will see if it will be able to handle it or not.
I had it working kinda decent with 6.5...just kept throwing drivers at it until i found a decent setup. But i was just wanting to see how it would be like you. When i get home i will look if i still have the file and send it to you. I cant even remember what all i had with it though lol. But like everyone has said its still slow with the newest drivers and such.
I cant find the file....but i will work on it this weekend.
Here is one that I had downloaded when the TF3D thread was alive. This does not have standby in it. So if you want to turn off your phone, then you need to find a stanby fix by somebody!
Hmm in my first post is another source for the TF3D, which has bigger files - there you'll find also the Audio Manager etc.
Has this thread died ?
