Dual SIM | HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SIM_Class\ DisablePowerManagement - General Questions and Answers

For power management, anyone knows exactly what SIM_Class is for? If you have Advanced Configuration Tool, the title of the setting that matches this key is "SIM Memory", so this only applies to the memory on the SIM card? When you enable PM for a certain feature, it's supposed to turn off the power for that feature when it's not in used, but how does it work for a SIM card when it's active pretty much all the time unless you turn off the radio?
I'm asking this because I'm currently using a dual SIM adapter, and I heard that the power voltage is quite important, so I wonder if by enabling PM for the SIM_Class will cause problems in a long run? I have it enabled for a day now, so far I see no problem for the dual SIM adapter to function properly, but I'd hate to find out later that it will brick the adapter somehow.
Thanks.

So nobody knows exactly what the power management for SIM_Class is, but you all still decided to enable it?
This registry mod is posted all over the forum, even included in the Advnaced Configuration Tool.

How to set off UMTS/3G for saving battery??

Hi mates,
as already recommended, I just ask how I can deactivate UMTS/3G on my TP. Several tests mean that with this little trick may be the battery-performance much better. But how to do??
Tanks for answer
botzino
you should just be able to hold down the end call key, a list will come up and there you are.
i used advanced config
menu-->more settiungs->comm manager
then i enabled 3G (you have to disable another one if you want to add a new item)
anyway after that 3G appears in the comm tab in TF3D
every time i dont use the the device for massive internet stuff i turn it off..
i found that it saves a lot of battery like this
another method is to just go to your phone settings and set the network to GSM only...but this method is far more time consuming

TomTom 7 "Flight Mode"

I replaced my Sable with an iPhone this summer, but I've still been using the Sable as a turn by turn GPS solution with TomTom Navigator 6.
Since I wasn't using it as a phone, I had the phone (as well as wifi and bluetooth) turned off, and it was working fine.
However, I just installed TomTom Navigator 7, and if the phone is off, TomTom says it's in "Flight Mode" and won't get a lock.
If I enable the phone, TomTom works fine. The SIM card in the phone is deactivated and will not successfully connect to the network. TomTom behaves this way whether I have:
1) an active SIM card
2) a deactivated SIM card
3) no SIM card
Does anyone know of any way to get TomTom to work while the phone radio is disabled? I really don't want the extra power drain.
Thanks
youll need a data connection or wi-fi for tom tom to work

No. It works fine with no SIM card, the WIFI radio disabled, and the Bluetooth radio disabled. But the cellular radio has to be enabled.
I want it to work with the radios all disabled, as it did with TomTom Navigator 6.

hrmm, all i can think of is maybe a cooked rom that functions as a pda instead of a phone, tomtom 6 wouldn't work on my orbit if i turned the phone function off.
i'm not sure but maybe theres a registry key stating its in flightmode, as i've noticed when u turn all the radio's off flightmode is on, and programs read it as flightmode, maybe theres a 1 to change to a 0 someware..worth a look if you have the time

I found some interesting values in HKLM\System\State\Phone. They change when I enable/disable the phone, so I'll try them out.
Do you know of a way to save a copy of the registry, and then compare two copies to see what's different?
Thanks
Nevermind. I got a program that could export and compare two states of the registry, so I saved one copy with the phone radio off, and one with it on, and compared.
There were a few differences. I turned the radio off, and set all the registry values to what it would normally have in the "on" state.
TomTom still said it was in flight mode.
My home screen basically said that the phone was on, but no SIM was inserted. However, normally if the phone is on, and you tap the phone, it turns off. When I did it, the status flickered, but it went back to on, and then TomTom worked.
There's more to TomTom's detection than just looking at the registry.
Any other ideas? :S
does the ttnavigator.bif file get created on startup everytime? as in there under features it says 'PhoneFeatures', i highly doubt it would work but may be worth removing it...
if you disable the radio after launching tomtom does it switch to flightmode? (just tried it switches to flightmode )
i'm interested in this as my sister wants my old orbit as a satnav, and won't be using the phone functions
found this link, i'm not sure if this turns off the phone or not, but its worth a shot

I had to make the file read only for it to not get overwritten, but it still didn't work.

You can't set a SIM pin if there's no SIM card.
And I'm not sure about that having any effect at all. Regardless of whether you have the correct pin entered, you can still make emergency calls, which means it's still talking to the cell towers, which means it's still using battery.

[Q] NFC HCE/APDU-sniffing problem

Here's my problem: I want to be able to primitively emulate some function of a Desfire EV1 card by playing back the APDUs it receives/sends to a card reader. The problem is I don't know what kind of APDUs the reader is sending out.
I can't use KitKat because KK HCE requires the app to specify the SELECT AID APDU that the reader sends out, and I have no idea what that is or whether the reader is even sending a SELECT AID out.
I figured I could use Eddie Lee's NFCProxy on a modified build of CM9 to analyze the card/reader interactions, but every time I put my phone up to the reader, it says "invalid card."
My guess is that the reader is picking up some other NFC signal from the phone, possibly Android Beam-related. In fact, if I try to run a card emulation app on 1 phone and have another phone try to read it, both of the phones start buzzing. Even though I have Android Beam turned off, the OS's NFC scanning cycle is set to detect other Android peer-to-peer devices regardless.
Modifying the app's manifest for android.nfc.disable_beam_default doesn't disable it either.
Does anybody know what I have to modify in the CM source code to disable peer-to-peer NFC completely? Then I could build a version of CM with proper emulation. OR, does anybody have any other ideas?
I've been tearing my hair out with this one lol

How to fix constant crashing on the Verizon Wireless version.

I am pretty sure that every Note 12.2 Pro Verizon Wireless version will crash every 5 to 10 minutes if you have most apps open.
To fix this, you need to remove the SIM card from the tray.
Prerequisites
Must be a Verizon Wireless model
Other proposed solutions that didn't work:
Resetting the device.
Removing MicroSD.
Switching from Samsung Keyboard to Google Keyboard
Replacing/repairing the tablet (probably not a hardware issue)
Charge the battery (flickering screen fix)

This is verified to work on the Verizon Wireless Note Pro 12.2! It seems that if your SIM card has no active data plan, then this will cause their device to cause apps to crash to the home screen. Just remove the SIM card since you aren't using cellular data anyway. I don't think it is a hardware issue, but rather a firmware issue that has not been addressed and will never be for a device this old. This fix not only removed crashes that happened constantly, but it also improved app performance. Before this fix, drawing in Autodesk's Sketchbook app was a pain. Sometimes a pen/brush stroke would not appear or would delay. Similar things happened with my Lecture Notes app, causing me to believe that I may have had defective RAM (which was absolutely untrue). So please do yourself a favor and remove your inactive SIM card.
However, I don't know if a SIM card with an active Verizon Wireless data plan will also cause the Note Pro to crash. I bought it for WiFi use but it was on sale brand new for the same price as the WiFi only version. If anyone can check if the bug persists with an active SIM card with a data plan, I would appreciate that very much.

I have an active T-mobile SIM in mine and no issues so far with an active data plan.
You are right though, it did have some odd issues when I had the sim in without an active data plan.
I diddnt have any app crashes but for some reason google play would not update apps even when I was on wifi, they would just stick in downloading status.
as soon as the sim card was activated or removed they downloaded fine.
There were a few other odd blips here and there when using something with network connectivity (Browser, facebook etc.)
The only reason I could see was that if you have an inactive sim card and then go to settings > about device > status the mobile network is constantly connecting and disconnecting and switching between unknown and LTE every second or two.
I suspect this may use extra processor resources and would likely impact battery life a bit as well.
I have an inactive sim at home, I may run some tests to verify it uses extra resources.
thanks for posting this, I noticed the issues and what resolved it but did not put two and two together until reading this post.
My SIM card was an inactive verizon wireless if that helps. I've only had crashing and memory issues. It's been several months now and not a single crash, and I always use my tablet.
If you want to test on your verizon sim, you should try sketchbook, videos, and any game such as clash of clans or boom beach. You need a memory or graphic intensive app to trigger these crashes.
Any small apps like Gmail will not crash. Although I had crashes in Adobe Reader if the PDF was large or the pages had a lot of visual content.
Note that I said you will crash with most apps open, I retract that statement. It is actually more likely to crash with anything that uses a lot of memory, caches alot, or is CPU or graphics intensive
Also, I think this bug only occurs on Android version 5.1.1
No problems here
Just wanted to let you know that I am still using my Note Pro with an active Sim card and I'm not running into any reboot issues. (I still haven't found anything even comparable to it to upgrade to without crossing over so i'll just keep using it! )

Making a Nord N10 5g Truly a black burner phone

I've already added arrowOS without gapps, installed some scripts and apps that allow freedom of performance and freedom of wiping a phone at will. But my main concern is imei and associated things. Can someone explain to me how they go thru the steps of making a phone truly a blackphone? I've got a 500$ offer as is but they'll offer 600$ if i can remove the second mic and gps. That possible? What would you reccommend?
I've also thought about using kali nethunter on this device as an ssh server and using ssh port forwarding with telegram to route thru dynamic tor connection on this current phone from their main phone. Give me some feedback plz
Why couldn't you just physically open up the phone and remove the second mic and disable the GPS by perhaps removing a finger off the GPS chip? Is that a little bit too advanced for you? Not trying to be a **** or anything but I think that's how I would go about it unless there's an app or a way to physically lock down GPS I'm not really sure but you know for sure way to make sure there ain't no second mic and the GPS doesn't work you remove the second mic I mean it can even stay in there but you just cut the wire to it or the lead same with the GPS chip with a finger on the chip the power the finger that leads to the power break that off and it would never be powered up I don't know how the phone will react to that as for the IMEI I have no idea.
You can disable sensors with Magisk and applications, I believe. If you want something that's hardware - sided, you'll have to take out the items manually.
