Hi all, i am usin my custom ROM on my Kayser, but battery life sucks, i can use the pocket pc almost 5 o 6 hrs with no phone calls, screen not on all time and using just EDGE (3G off)... i have screen back light too much dark as possible, so any one got tricks to get more battery life? i was thinking on this:
-Underclock (what tool its free and work perferct on kaiser Wm 6.1)
-Micro SD low energy or off when is not used (i dont remeber if this exist)
-GBS Tweak disconecting unnecesary EDGE after X time, and radio search set to dont search at start radio (done, but i lke to get the correct REG entry for cook it as default on ROM)
-Make a direct link for do a real shutdown of the Kaiser, i mean complety power off like when u press 5 sec power button
-Change the radio (wich one?)
-Any other ideas are welcome!!!
Regards!
FOR THE RECORDS (MAKE TOPIC MORE USEFUL):
- GBS Tweak for any WnMo 6.1
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaii/product_gprs-umts_tweak_wm61_diamond.htm
- Make a shorcut for link for complety Power Off the device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424235
Underclock, never heard before, but most of us need speed and stable offcourse,
MicroSD, less energy consumption, nice idea, would wait and see it if it's gonna be,
GBS Tweak, ever used one in Hermes, it's great, i wish i had one for my Kaiser,
Direct link to shut down, Yes there is, use pShutoff app, we can choose to reboot, lock or shut down,
Radios, we need to try and comparing, and is there any radios comparison which describe which one had less energy consumption, had never seen before,
Other, maybe start doing just important thing to our device, rather than play it without any subject, use it properly.
GBS TWEAK Win MO 6.1 i got it from the oficial homepage, here http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaii/product_gprs-umts_tweak_wm61_diamond.htm
i think sometime i read about low micro sd consumption but dont remember where (meaby in a tweak program), i got pShutof but dosnt Power off the Kaiser, just send it to stand by!!!
Regards!
UPDATE:
Found this one, here a link for complety Power Off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424235
Appreciate much for the links, will try it soon

Just posting my experiences with my Wizard, but before that, my uasge pattern is as follows,
Outlook Push Email:- about 150 - 180 messages a day
Windows Live:- about 20 a day
Text Messages:- about 80 a day
Phone usage:- apporx 2 hrs talktime
No other net usage
Battery lasts for about 5 - 6 hrs
Memory lasts for 8-10 hrs!!
Now for my experiences,
1) Every time I get receive or send a message, I lose program memory. any message of the 3 types mentioned above. I've seen this in all the ROMs that i've used and its been quite a few now.
2) Memory drain is exponentially quicker if I have my SD card in the phone. I've started removing it and keeping it seperately
3) Some memory can be recovered through FreeUp Ram (SKTools) or Oxios Memory, but the amount available keeps on reducing with time
The link between tmail and memory drain is the most obvious to me 'cos i can actually see it happening. Every time I get a message, or send one, the program memory available after i complete the task, including closing tmail, is less than what was available before. I use BatteryStatus to keep track, but have seen the same thing without BS as well, using SPB Pocket Plus.
I have to reset every day, towards the end of the day, or the phone starts behaving like a dog. Its like "press a button, wait a weekend, and then move forward... :-/
I'm probably just looking for some input on whether this is a problem that others face as well, and if yes, what solutions / work arounds exist to tackle it.
Thanks
--sry wrong idea--
just thought about sd power management trick ,but if tmail is using card, its nonsense idea to try..
memory leak isn't clear for me, though..
could you please tell me why?
What rom/radio are you running? Your sig says Orwell and 2.69, are those still accurate?
yes, that accurate. IPL & SPL are 3.08... also, tmail isnt using SD... i dont keep the card in the phone anymore...
try a newer rom and try lowering your radio to 2.19. I would try the rom first and then the radio.
I had terrible battery life on orwells, but after upgrading to a newer WM6 rom the battery life became much better.
If the rom doesn't help enough, try changing your radio.
Interesting...
Yes, if you can, check to see if a rom change helps with your memory leak. You use your phone a lot more than I do, but I have noticed a small memory leak in every rom I've tried. Maybe you've put your finger on it!
Anyway, you could also install BatteryStatus and report the idle cpu usage. Your custom extended rom could be contributing to your poor battery life.
Regards,
idle CPU usage is between 3 - 7%... battery drain at idle goes down to 70mA... thats without windows live, but with outlook push mail... also have a problem with battery status as it doesnt update dynamically... just stays with one reading till another program or task is launched or it decides that its time to refresh... refresh time is 5 secs, but it seldom is... cpu usage gets updated every 5 secs though... i'm gonna try moving to the Tmobile 2.26 and then to Faria's kitchen rom... will be done in a couple of hrs, but will need a working day to test the results...
i'm still more concerned about the memory, though... battery, i can handle... have an extended battery on the way which is rated for 2400 mA... should last a day, im hoping... but i do really dislike restarting the phone every day...
thanks a million for the interest... im sure there's light at the end of this tunnel as well, now that there are a few members interested...
cheers...
First, I am newly signed up to XDA Developers and this is a great resource. You guys/gals really know your stuff, awesome learning from you.
On topic.
I picked up a Cingular 2125 and have been playing with it. I upgraded to the i-mate sp5 2.0.8.0 rom.
I noticed on the original 2125 1.0.9.0 (?) rom when the keys were locked and the screen / display timed out, moving the joystick didn't light up the screen. Now on the i-mate rom, the joystick does light up the screen, this causes excessive battery drain.
I played with the iPhone ROM (2.0.11.0) and it also doesn't light up the screen on joystick movement.
I did the WM6 beta romm (not the PEE version yet) and it does light up the screen.
I am coming from the 3125 (Star100) and am used to much longer battery life, I am thinking that the screen being lit up all the time is eating the batteries, has this been discussed and resolved already by you guys?
I am wondering which ROM I should settle on for the combination of best features. I am thinking about going to the PEE WM6 rom, but am wondering about this feature and will read the PEE WM6 thread in full before making up my mind.
Thanks in advance.
Brett
Edit - 20070914
- 1.0.9.0 - Original Cingular 2125 Rom - Joystick doesn't light up screen, no automatic time synchronization.
- Andot WM6 PEE version and it lights up the screen , has automatic time synchronization.
- Phil WM6 Beta version and it lights up the screen , no automatic time synchronization.
- imate SP5 2.0.8.0 and it lights up the screen , no automatic time synchronization.
- iPhone ROM (2.0.11.0) - Chinese - Joystick doesn't light up screen, has automatic time synchronization.
- HTC 2.0.13.0 2125 Rom - and it lights up the screen , no automatic time synchronization.
- Vista Rom SPV C600 2.0.14.0 - Chinese - Joystick lights up the screen - has automatic time synchronization.
Me too
I have the same problem. I am running Andot's latest on my 2125 and with the old (1.0.9.0) ROM I could run for days.
I notice it most when I use the holster that came with the phone. If I use the holster, the battery will be down to 30% by the end of the day. If I carry the phone in my pocket it will only be down to 80% at the end of the day.
I turned on the screensaver feature in Automatic Keylock to keep the backlight from turning on. It helps a bit, but the battery still runs down pretty fast since the LCD is still on without the backlight.
This is the only real problem that I have had, aside from some intermittent network problems.
hmm, so 1.09 and the iPhone rom both don't light up off of the Joystick and the iPhone ROM has automatic time synchronization, does the PEE edition have automatic time synch?
ttt with edit updates, in case anyone is interested.
So I'm having trouble with my work exchange server synch with that iPhone rom. Must be something in the registry.
Any other ROMs have those features?
fyi, I updated to the T-Mobile 1.0.14.0 ROM and it doesn't light up the display when the keys are locked when the joystick is moved.
I am running this one until I find something better. It works well for my needs. I'm hoping we can get a WM6 ROM with this feature.
Found a link to it via google.

It HAS automatic time synchronization. before updating to this ROM, everytime when I had to pull out the battery the time reset. Now, the time is automatically synched with operator's date&time.
Have you flashed Radio 4.1.13.28_02.61.01 ?
and about the light up on joystick press.. maybe there is some settings in registry? if you have time, you can dump the roms and compare the registry of them.. and see..

I'm embarassed to say that I don't know how to dump the ROMs and compare the registries. I'd be willing to do it, if someone can shoot me a link on how this is done.
we are offtopic, aren't we?
for rom dumping you need typho5.exe & tadzio's ImgfsTools
read more here
.
read here how to convert registry HV to RGU .
compare the default.rgu & user.rgu from both ROM with Compare It or Microsoft WinDiff or other text comparing program.
Good luck!
I've looked into it, can't download http://rapidshare.com/files/20560641/MolskiBiz_DevPack.exe from work, but I do have the PEE rom dumped.
I also looked at the PEE rom again, and the automatic time feature is on the Date & time page (Start --> Settings --> Clock & Alarm --> Date and Time --> Automatic Time/Time zone is there), sorry for the misinformation. I will update the above now.
I was able to export PEE & The t-mobile registry with PHM and compare. They are significantly different, not sure where to start............
I'd suggest searching for keys and values containing: lock, key, stick, time, light, back ...
I've searched the reg of my WM6 Beta as well as on the internet (incl. MS sources) and found "some" keys/values but yet I couldn't find anything that seemed fitting.

I've tried searching on various keywords and did the ones you tried above. I made changes to Display but it messed me up and I had to completely reflash. Different drivers in different ROMS??
As an update, since running the T-mobile rom, my battery life has been noticeably better.
Yesterday I wrote up a custom home screen using RJTime and Smartmonitor, purely for function, but even with the Smartmonitor running my battery life is still much better with the "no light up when keys locked when joystick pressed"
I have done some more searches and changes. No luck. A couple of the changes made so I had to reflash the device to get display back.
This rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331319
Does it better. Hitting the joystick while key-locked will turn on the screen but only for 7 seconds - no matter what timeouts the user set for non-locked operation.
However, the rom's far from "perfect english" with quite a few elements/texts being in chinese.

I disagree on that being better. If you are bumping the joystick constantly while in your pocket or in a holster, it is continually lighting up the screen. That is a battery killer.
I guess no luck on this issue. I have pretty much not found anything.
With "better" I meant better having the screen light up for just 7 seconds than 30, 60 or whatever else your normal un-locked display timeout is.
Obviously "best" would be if the screen did not turn on at all upon joystick presses.
I'm currently using the "WM6 HTC Edition" you can find in this forum. It's clean english and works with the 7 sec timeout as well.
My battery life drastically increased since I've started using the 7 sec versions. So I guess (unless you're wearing realy tight pants) the joystick aint constantly getting pressed. It just get's pressed every now in a while. So it's obviously better to have the screen unwanted on for "a few times 7 sec's" rather than "a few times 60 sec's" druing the day. But as I said that's true "unless you're wearing realy tight pants".
Hi,
i would like to know if it's normal that my battery goes to 100 % at the beginning of the day to 68% at the end. (i'm not using it mutch !!)
besides when i switch on my htc my processor is using 38% et then after using a prog it goes to 41% and stay at 41% after ending all progs i used.
if there is a prog who can optimize using processor it will be great (i know i'm asking a lote).
(by the way thank's a lot for the forum !!)
A power drain like that is unusual. I get to about 80% by 6pm just from making a couple of short calls and checking the forums on my lunch using 3g which I think is acceptable.
Generally your battery will run down faster if you have programs running in the back ground or you have other radios on (bluetooth, wifi, gps) etc.
Wifi will run your battery right down if left on.
Also turn down your brightness on the screen as that is a battery drain when its on and also adjust your power settings to turn off the scree faster when you are not using it. Most of these can be found in your start > Settings.
A friend of mine gave me a tip that when you flash your phone to a new radio you should do it with 100% battery as it helps improve the battery life. Not sure whether thats true or not but it seemed to work for me, of course it could have just been a better radio!
Hope that helps.

Is it processor usage or used memory? Processor is the thing that does different calculations and needs more energy when being used more intensively (at least that's what I think). Memory is just a container of information ("0's and 1's") and energy is needed for maintenance of all 100% of memory, so imho it shouldn't change much if 38% are used or 41% (and again - that's just what I think about memory usage; I have no scientific proof for that ).
Btw, question from me - does strength and/or type of signal/network (with "type" I mean all those GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA networks) affect power usage in any way?
i hanged where i worked a few weeks ago and now I find I get 5 days from my battery, I only got 3 1/2 before. I have noticed that with my old job I never had better then 2 bars of service. this must prove that signal strength has something to do with battery life
Ofcourse. when you have better reception ur phone has to use less powerto send his signal and thus uses less energie
is it possible if u use a memory card, that the phone use the RAM not a memory (for files) but as a real RAM (like on pc) ?
Is there any lighter theme than the original one which can make the processor running slower ?
if you want the best battery life turn off htc home so you just have a blank home screen!!!
hold on I have a great idea, I will sit down this weekend and make a text only interface for my cruise. that would give some awesome battey life. I suppose I might as well buy an old nokia 2010 and save my time LOL.
Battery life depends on some many things its hard to get the phone to last the same lenght of time each day for me let alone everybody.
ook ....., thx for your help.
Do you have Slide 2 Unlock version 1.21 installed? That drains battery very fast. It has a bad "iLock2.exe". It's better to download the latest version of S2U2.
Btw, what about different "minimized" applications? With "minimized" I mean those that are left opened in background for using them later (e.g., paused music player, opened pdf, opened contacts/tasks/scheduler etc). On PC, such applications should not consume any resources (expect RAM, of course ;D) as there's no persistant interaction between application and user/data, so it would consume more power to open/close application and read/write data. What about such apps on windows mobile devices? Is it better to close/open applications so that they run only when they are being used? Or is it better to leave them in background while they aren't used? This question is about apps that are used on regular basis, i.e., like 20+ times a day...
Music players tend to keep the device powered up while the player is loaded and playing. You may have noticed the device keeps playing the music while the device seems off in many of the players. In fact, only the screen is off in this case.
There is a chance your music player keeps the device on when paused as well, wasting a lot of energy for nothing.
Hi,
I had the same problem, the culprit was btio.
btio was working fine on my qtek 9100, but on my cruise, this software empty the battery in about 24h

Hi, everybody.
I've searched the forum for more then hour, but didn't find what I was looking for.
I', searching for an application which would force device to power off the screen after some period of time (for example 5 seconds), if it previously occasionaly powered on. It happens for example when Send/Recieve process starts automatically every 15 minutes. And this usually causes accidental pressings on touch screren (while in cover, case, pocket/else). The result is huge power consumption and less battery working time.
I've seen this feature in S2U, but i'm allready tired of all this "iPhonomania", and looking for a usual WM-looking application, wich would have similar functions.
I'm sure I'm not alone here in such an AntiIPHONic mood, and maybe you know and can reccomend any solution?

do u have the WWE edition?
Thanks for posting these! 很多! I located the 三星 SIP for full screen and didn't know about 百度 until loading these up.
My experience with both 6MPP and 12MPP shows that they eat battery at an alarming rate. I couldn't find a cause. This is with the Phone and Wifi turned off but BT turned on (as I btdun through my flip phone).
The 三星全屏手写 SIP also seems to disable the touch screen input between power-off (sleep) mode at times, which when coupled with the power drain make these images a tad too unpredictable. I was able to reproduce the problem on my kitchen build after installing the SIP.
The 12MPP seems to have a large memory footprint, and I haven't figured out why or if that's the reason why there are two different images.
Did you make these yourself?
