MICROSD is UNDER the battery cover...how lame..almost like they are reverting back to oldschool smartphones aka htc tornado and such lol
on the other hand, as it's supposed to be a business phone, maybe it's designed to prevent spies from swapping cards too easily (to upload a virus or copy your contact data without you noticing) or avoid SDs from falling out in case of earthquakes, tornadoes, plane crashes...
Those HTC guys, they think of everything !!!
Lies! The HTC TOUCH PRO HAS NO DOWNSIDES!!
<sarcasm>
Yes. lol almost every phone has a downside that HTC makes. Otherwise, well, HTC wouldn't be HTC. I'd be surprised if HTC makes a phone that everyone likes. I want a iPhone with WM running on it. Now that would be kick-ass. Someone godly pro should get a ridiculous amout of money for doing that so he gets some motivation. I know someone can do it. And just to say, if the iPhone gets a hardware keyboard/externa memory version. We can all say bye bye to the WM market :[
hilarious!!
but wait im SURE people are gonna make aftermarket back covers that have a hole/slot so you dont have to hack it to pieces with a razor to get the ease of access lol
i am slightly concerned for the touch pro's music prowess.
I really like it that the microSD is now beneath the battery cover. I currently own a TyTN and here the microSD can be accessed from the outside and is easily ejected just by putting some pressure on it.
Sometimes it already happened, that I ejected the SD just by accident when I put it out of my pocket.
I do not swap my microSD very often because you can easy access it through ActiveSync, and for the few times I load a huge bunch of data to it, it's not a big deal just to remove the cover and put it out.
So my conclusion: Putting the microSD beneath the backcover, brings more protection to the microSD and more style to the phone. (the slot would "break" the stylish surface)
I agree. I have the same problem with my Tytn, it sometimes accidently comes out and on top of that a lot of dirt can get in the slot. And i'm not so fond of those fiddly little sd slot covers they put on other phones. They tend to break or loosen. So thumbs up for HTC that they put their sd card slot on the inside!
when does it come out??? i wanna sell my tytn ii for it. that wouldnt be much of a hastle . i usually bluetooth files to my phone aniways.
i presume there still isnt a 3.5mm jack on the touch pro?
No, there's not. Headphone/Headset is connected through the USB mini connector.
No 3.5mm jack!
That's the only down side I see with the touch pro.
But I do like that the Micro SD slot is hidden because I do not want my SD card popping out and me losing my music and files.
I don't think that's a downside at all. Like some people said, it is a lot safer there.
And think on the bright side, it could be under the battery itself, like it is on my phone, which really really sucks.

Despite what play.com syas Im sure the audio out is via the usual ext_usb socket, as is video out (with the correct adapter).
Even then I really think that to access the memory card one have to take the batt cover, is a downside, not big but a valid one.
I wonder with time if the cover will not get a bit loosely ...
"I want a iPhone with WM running on it. Now that would be kick-ass."
hehe that would solve the fact that one had to take out the batt to change sdcard pretty sufficiently
"I do not want my SD card popping out and me losing my music and files."
hhmm if you pop it back in they'd be back though
The only thing I am concerned about is the fact when I will actually be able to put a 16GB MircoSD card in the pro...
Announced in January, these "babies" are yet not available...
But HTC certainly wants us to use 16GB cards ... so where are those

Sandisk had orginally said they would be out in June but we have kinda missed that already. There a few pics on the net of Symbian phones with the a test 16GB card in and these have been around for ages.
I spoke to their customer service a couple of weeks ago.

Very dissapointing...
The last thing you want is a spring-loaded micro-SD ejecting across a crowded pub... they're *tiny* and real buggers to find if they escape. Sounds like a flaw, but maybe not. I'll put an 8Gb card in, then probably never swap it until I get a bigger card. Lack of a 3.5mm jack is a bigger pain, but I survive now with the stupid 2.5mm jack on my Prophet.
I was wondering what the Max SD card size (2 ,4 , or 8 gb)I can use on the touch pro
16 gig
But remember... its not size that counts, its how you use it
Actually, its been tested for up to 32gb.
Well, as long as it's MicroSD you can use any size. But I don't think 32gb is available yet.
If I haven't missed anything that is.
you can use adapter for conect normal SD 32gb to microSD port
Officially supports upto 32gb....but I wouldn't put anything larger than 16gb on it.

Yes. someones already done a sd to micro sd adapter hack to their touchpro and used a 32 gig sd card then. Too bad they cost 100 bucks for just a ribbon and card holder. id be tempted to use my spare back and make the same up.

you want Power? when I first got my Kaiser, I brought it back to Vietnam to show off... then I got kicked in the butt by my little cousin who own a Nokia Vertu Ferrari edition... The phone is not a touch screen, nor have all the functions as my Kaiser and he only have a 2GB card in it... but it cost him $11k
I really don't understand why 32GB... I only use 3GB on my 8GB microSD. if the phone graphic performance is as good as the Iphone, then I wouldn't mind having a big microSD card in it to play DVD movies... but not on this phone. The graphic drivers are just not good enough for it.
Well, I have a 16gb in my fuze, and everyone is impressed with the sliding KB, Tv-out, vga, BT Audio, gyrator2, scroll wheel, etc. Plus, I let my daughter at UNC-CH (Junior) take it for a few days, and it's a real guy-magnet, not that she really needs it, of course. (She normally uses a tilt)
BTW-- All in fun!!!!
32G for music and media man. That's why. My friend has an Iphone and thinks it's the jam. But my Fuze, once I find a 32G will put his Iclone to shame.
it doesnt matter if it got tested i have a 8 gb sandisk and my 4 gb get more pics and video then my 8 gb so idk wat to tell u

So I don't see how you think juxtaposing those quotes says anything about people not reading - other than yourself.
In response to your other question, I have 16GB on my phone, and wish that the phone had an easily accessible "external" microsd.
I use about half of the 16GB for work; the phone serves as a micro pc for short-term use. I also use it as a music-player. If there were a separate microsd it would be easy to interchange them for movies, music or other media.
I have a 16gb and it works fine. 32gb is the max.
Hi Everyone,
As it is taking so long to get real 32GB Micro SD's on the market I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying a SD to MICRO SD converters.
This converters will not be just some wires solder together...but a converter that is nicely packaged.
Provide me with some feedback on the idea.
umm, how could that possibly work? you can't convert something so its smaller
Well maybe I did not state it correctly...
I mean a converter that will allow you to use a standard SD card into a micro sd slot...it will most likely be made of an external connector for the standard SD card then wire it down to a micro sd slot..
I work for an electronics manufacturing company and I may be able to convince my boss to do a test line of a couple...
But before I ask I wanted to see if there is any interest???
I have a Nexus one and really do not want to keep waiting for the 32GB Micro SD...then I do not want to pay $200.00 for it.
So i am thinking if people are interested a converter that can hold a standard SD that is no more that 4MM thick then you can shop around for a 32GB standard SD card for about $75.00 and have 32GB of storage for your nexus or other device...
Again just checking for input...
I'd would be interested, but I don't think there is going to be enough room to fit it and still put the back on!

Hi tomfreay I was was thinking about that...it may have to be something that mounts on the outside of the back cover...if it can be made to be flush against the back cover...I envision a small "bump" on the back...
I use a clear silicone case for my phone so I do not think it will look to bad....
Or I can buy a Seidio extended battery and case..this should allow me to hide the converter inside...but I think it may look worse than just having a little standard SD size bump on the back of the phone...
I will ask my boss to explore one then take pictures of the finished product and post...
Someone has done this already with one of the convertors already available

32GB Micro SD cards are available and have been for a month or two at least - check out http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CDgQrQQwAg
Can't see any kind of converter fitting well with the phone and still looking good. Also it would probably reduce transfer speeds to/from the card.
At this stage I can't say I'd recommend getting a 32GB Micro SD card for that matter. Better to stick with one that has a smaller capacity/higher data transfer speed if you don't want to slow down gallery/music apps etc - something between 4GB and 16GB.

DUDE. Seriously. How many times do people have to be told that a PHONE will not be able to saturate a Class 2 (which has a MINIMUM of 2MB/s NOT MAXIMUM) MicroSD card. Classes, DO NOT MATTER when the phone can only access the card as fast as the chipset can. I had a Class 6 with Apps2SD and a Class 2 16GB with Apps2SD and there was NO DIFFERENCE even with the biggest movie file I could play.
Why the crap would you think that less than 1 inch of copper would slow down the transfer rate to anything you can see?? GIVE. ME. A. BREAK. I have 2 METERS of USB cord AND a 2 inch USB cord hooked up to a portable harddrive, and they have IDENTICAL speeds with the same hardware, why would you be able to tell the difference on a phone where that is not even close to being a bottleneck.
Listen, this is important: SD Card Class will NEVER be a bottleneck for any media on our Nexus Ones.
Ya, true; my converter looks terrible, but it fits under a very nice looking Casemate Vroom Case perfectly I would totally recommend one if you're going to get a MicroSD to SD.

Nice Job. DocRambone was going to try this with the 3200mAH battery and cover but I dont know if he was successful.
The custom back-cover that comes with it should have room for this.

Hi Britoso..I was think about putting out the money for the 3200mAH battery...but then I found the case for it was too big...
The mod that I did is something that I think a lot of people can live with..its not ugly..the crystal case fits...and the grip of the phone has changed a little..I find it feels a little better.
Forgive my ignorance I have been on this site for several years now and still do not know everything...what do you mean by "OP"..set me straight and I will place the pictures there..
To All...
Again with this mod the cover slides off like it should...I put a small slit in the cover for the flex cable...and placed protective tape on both sides of the flex cable to prevent damage.
So at the most I just have to buy a new back cover and return the phone to OEM condition.
Oh I did shaved the battery a little by the MicroSD slot area...
If anyone is really interested in this converter let me know...like I said...$200.00+ for a 32GB Mirco SD card...I have seen them selling for $395.00..no way I say.
This mod ran me $82.00 for the 32GB standard class 10 card and $35.00 in parts.. Grand total of $117.00 for massive storage...I say the little bump on the back is worth it..phone can quickly be restored to OEM..
Maybe in 1.5 years from now when 32GB MicroSD cards come down to earth....I will get one..then I will just use my 32GB Class 10 Standard SD in a HD camcorder...
If it fits inside the battery cover it will be safer from movement, dust, drops etc.
OP= Original Post, the first post
You can also Add "Mod" to the title, need to go into the advanced edit mode for that.

BTW, "class" on a (micro)sd card is for measuring _write_ speed only. Hence playing a video will test precisely nothing relating to it's class rating.
And yes, the N1 can saturate the write speed on a Class 2 card _very_ easily.
Anyone still looking for an adapter. I found this:
http://www.ameri-rack.com/APA-TFC1m.html
They sell this directly for around $24 + shipping.
I have had my Huawei S7 Android tablet for a week now, and I'm really longing for some Rom hacks - especially to move apps to SD since it apparently only has room for 128MB of apps according to SystemPanel and I'm getting "low space" notifications all the time and thus can't install updates, Gtalk won't run (I think it's related), etc.
Rooting was really simple, just download and run UniversalAndroot.apk but the next steps I'm a bit uncertain about; finding and installing the right Recovery image, then if I succeed installing some apps2sd solution (Darktremor?) or just some Froyo rom.
Another issue is that the SD card is almost not used for anything, seems like all my apps uses internal memory instead of external, maybe that's a 2.1 thing. I transfered a bunch of .avi movies to my microsd card, but Rockplayer can't find them unless I move them to internal memory.

Hi. Just pre-ordered here in the States, hopefully this will ship by the 7th of Nov. One quick question is the screen in your device resistive or capacitive? As for your dilemma with storage I'm sure that soon a solution will be found by someone here.

Resistive.
From what I have seeing, the resistive screen is pretty responsive, so this is not a major problem. The small storage space is something that must be addressed if this device is going to last. The archos 7 had this problem in the beggining untill a custom ROM took care of this by doubling the storage size. I think that the HS7 will be fixed in this way first then a2sd might kick in later on.

Fixed.
The internal storage memory in the S7 is called "SDCARD" for some stupid reason (have they just bought a lot of cheap 8GB SD Cards and glued them to the motherboard, not bothering with formatting and giving them a different name like "STORAGE" or "DISK"?).
This apparently confuses several applications.
The name for the external Micro SD card, I found out by using Terminal Emulator, is "SDCARD2", so by specifying to RockPlayer that /this/ is where to look for files (SDCARD2 doesn't show up when browsing the directories, not in RockPlayer, not in Astro File Manager, not in stock Video player...) I am finally able to play .avi files from my MicroSD
Good going!
Wow
Ok so got mine yesterday at BestBuy and im very impressed with this tablet. Put my tmobile sim card in and works great for data and calls. GPS also works very well.
It would be great to root and put Froyo on this. Screen is very responsive and fit and finish is great. At $299 they have a home run.
the screen is good until you try to double tap its nice but mines is going back to bestbuy and i will be getting samsung tab
Got mine over the weekend along with a Cruz Reader and a Cruz Tablet from Best Buy for comparison. Hands down the Huawei is far superior. The capacitive screen alone is just not enough to overcome the rest of the shortcomings of the Cruz Tablet. The S& screen is the best resistive screen I have used, add in BT and 2.1 and I am happy so far. Now we just need a chef to start cooking....
Got mine yesterday!
I just picked mine up for Best Buy yesterday and I am still playing with it to make my final decision. But for the most part I am liking it. The screen responsiveness it pretty good not as good and my HTC EVO which is what I am use too but it is far better than what I was expecting. A hugh plus is that it has the Android market and front and rear cameras. The only down side it that there is still not much to choose from as far as apps to use the cameras. I got this device to eliminate carrying my Mac from place to place and still be able to post to decision boards and work on my papers when I'm away from home. So far this device has exceeded my expectations.
What is everyone else feeling about their S7?

So far I am impressed with this little tablet. You get a 7 in 3G capable tablet with all the Google Apps (Market, Maps, GMail) for 200 less then the Galaxy Tab.
Two big down faults. It is running 2.1 currently (promised to be upgraded Q1 2011) and it is resistive touch. No I will say its probably one of the better resistive touch screens I have used so its not to bad.
There also may be a storage issue. Even though there is 8GB installed, its not for APPS. You have only around 180MB available with the default apps installed. Hopefully this can be remapped with the next update (or XDA members do some magic)
Battery life might be around 6 hours, 3-4 with 3G on.. Not totally sure yet.
But I am more impressed with this guy then the $399 Veiwsonic GTablet. Out of the box is just a better experience and you get google apps with no hacking.

Huawei S7 Android Tablet
Hello All,
I purchased this Tablet a couple of days ago and a little disappointed. I am with T-Mobile and the reception i get on this is only EDGE. Can anyone on T-MO confirm if you are able to get 3G on this? Also, when using Launcherpro or ADW, I am unable to place widgets on the desktop. Anyone experiencing this?
3G
Just got my S7 Tablet, will verify to see if I get 3g reception.
Our review of the Huawei Ideos S7 has been posted. Visit MyTabletLife.com to check it out.
This tablet needs to get in more hands. Huawei has said it will get 2.2 early 2011 but the Snapdragon processor in this baby is begging for it NOW! lol

got me one
I got one 3 days ago and so far I am very impressed. And yes, it is crying out for froyo. So far I like everything in it. I am using it with Simple Mobile with no problem thou I have not tried the 3G since I use clear for my internet connection. The battery life is even better than my HD2. The only downside are.
1. The front facing Camera it is not fully integrated with the system. Fring does not recognize it so for video conference uses the rear one (pointless). I tried other apps and they don't see it either, they see only one camera. The main camera app does recognize thou. This could get fixed with froyo.
2. I takes quite a bit to get used to a resistive screen after using a capacitor one.
3. Market is restricted, but you can root the tablet and use Market Enabler.
4. No video out (for now) but it does have room for a ...docking station? or some proprietary add ons.
5. The speakers are good and loud, but connected to external speakers is the opposite.
All of these things don't bother me much except for the front facing camera problem.
I can't wait to find a case or something, it looks too nice to drop it or scratch it.
totally agree about the case! I spent 45 minutes at BBY yesterday trying every case they have for e-Readers, etc but nothing was a good fit. The closest I found was a Wenger Swiss Army pouch, but I really want something that will protect it all the time. I know myself well enough to know that a pouch just means I will drop it taking it out.
I am not sure what you mean about Market restrictions though, I haven't run into this on mine, are you sure it is not just an App Version/OS Version problem?
Today I tried SIM card from both T-Mobile and At&T.
At&t- VOICE worked, however could not get any data working on this device. I hope this isnt the case. I am going to try again. CAN ANYONE confirm they tried an AT&T SIM and data didnt work for you also???
T-Mobile- Voice & DATA worked, however it is EDGE ONLY. T-mobile 3G did not work.
This will be the shame if this is the case. The box says 3G, so people will return this for not working. I am hoping the AT&T data problems were a fluke.

AT&T?
I just picked this from Best Buy. Great little device for it's price. I haven't been able to get either voice or data to work on ATT. I see a few people with success with T-Mobile. To the ATT folks here has anyone got it to work, and if so did you have anything special to do?
Thanks in advance.
I took the risk and bought an HP Slatebook x2 today. I heard mixed optimism regarding its superiority over the other HP "offerings" as we might call them ... but it was hard for me to resist the Tegra 4 and bundled keyboard dock. As a grad student, I need a versatile input system, and I wasn't sure I wanted to wait for the next ASUS Transformer tablet to come out. Plus, I keep hearing bad things here about ASUS customer service and so on.
The Slatebook apparently ships with 4.2.2, which isn't too shabby, and it does have multiple SD expansion slots and a USB 2.0 port. So, not exactly up to snuff with the new Transformer rumors, but I couldn't really wait to go mobile because I do web design and I'm stuck on a desktop computer (hard to show off my work from my bedroom, y'know).
What I'm wondering now is, who's going to achieve root for me?
Also, what's the general consensus here on this particular device? All I've seen on these forums about it is a bunch of spam threads from a troll.
Thoughts?
--Fantastic Rat
I, or rather my wife, got this tablet a week ago and I am quite impressed. It is fast and nice, and I agree with the advertisement "100% notebook, 100% tablet". When docked, it feels like a true notebook with a very well designed keyboard and nice shortcut keys. And when used as a tablet, it works well too.
The multi user profiles on Android 4.2 works extremely well too.
For the root access: yes please! I want root too

My roommate bought one of these last week. I was a little dubious at first, but I agree with your assessment. "100% notebook/100% tablet" is pretty accurate.
I have a HP touchpad from the $99 sale from year(s?) ago. I could never get used to just the tablet feel, so I *really* like the docked feel of the slatebook.
Just my 2c. I think it's a feel thing. My girlfriend prefers tablets and just tablets.
I don't think my roommate cares about root... but I could probably convince him. Can never have too many testers
HP needs to bring the 32/64GB internal storage ones to the U.S.
Also with no physical store presence this tablet combo will go nowhere.
Does anyone want to give a little review on their thoughts on the unit?
Its been out in a few countries for a few weeks now and still not in depth review anywhere!
Cheers

I had a TF201 and needed to replace it. I too could not wait for the new ASUS to come out, so I took the risk and bought a Slatebook x2. The complete lack of any discussion on this device, including reviews, is unbelievable. Do a Google search...if you exclude the repeat of the HP spec page...there is nothing.
I'm not a reviewer, but I like this device so far. Its very snappy, no lag, and its running a very close to stock Android 4.2.2 ROM. The only complaints I have are minor; no ability to direct connect to computer (runs off an AC adapter and a proprietary cable), and there is a little 'wobble' back and forth when docked (not tight like the Transformer). But everything else is nice, the screen, responsiveness, dock keys and looks. Its plastic, but who cares; so are about 100 million Samsung phones (I have a Note 2). I ran an AnTuTu benchmark, it was 29054 for what its worth; benchmarks don't mean too much to me.
I really hope Devs pick this up, find a root method and work on a CM load. I am concerned that the HP support to updates (4.3, KeyLimePie, etc) may be slow or non-existent. This wouldn't be a disaster, as the current load is fine, but I hate getting left behind.

I'm in Australia; they only had the 16GB model in the store I went to. This works about to be just under 12GB usable. However, I did put a 32GB micro SD card into the tablet and a 32GB SD card into the dock, so now I have on 70GB, which is more than enough for me.
I Just ordered last week still waiting for device. The one strange thing is there is no review or any discussion about the device. Hopefully we get our own forum
Google Edition S4 CM Mod
I bought one yesterday online for what is certainly going to be less than what the new Asus pad infinity will go for and it should arrive in 2 days. While I'm skeptical of HP products this one has such nice specs I couldn't resist. I'm very surprised there isn't an xda forum created for this convertible yet.
bought this a week ago its a pretty kick ass notebook tablet combo just cant wait to root this beast was wondering if a male male usb cable would let me access it on the pc
Just found a full review from google

I get the extra storage on the SD cards but the 11-12 GB left over for apps is not enough. The fact that they are actually making 32/64GB versions yet not offering them in the US makes absolutely no sense. Apps and games are only going to get bigger and bigger...I have a hp touchpad 16GB with ICS and have to really pick and choose what I install because of the small space..I'm looking for am upgrade in the internal storage department as well.

I tried this yesterday with no success. You can flash files from the SD card via the boot menu, so maybe that's an option for a dev who knows what he's doing.
Could anyone confirm this tablet work with only 32G micro SD. Planning to order a 64G sd
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Interesting. I've usually managed well enough with low internal storage (my Razr Maxx only had 8GB dedicated to apps, and I never overloaded it). I like the fact that this tablet takes multiple SD cards for expansion--means odds are I'll never run out of space even with my 20+ GB music collection.
I'm glad to hear there are others who like what they've seen and are hoping for devs to pick it up. It means I made a good purchase. Looking forward to getting mine in the mail Friday!

Sorry, I read that 32GB was max, so I just went with 32GB. Haven't tried 64GB.

My TF201 only had 16GB and it was fine for apps; I never ran out of room to install stuff. My issue was storage of my video library, which is fine on the 2 extension cards. I haven't read anywhere where >16GB units are available; maybe they are still coming.
Just tried a display set at the HP fair. It looks and feels sturdy except for the part that connects the tablet to the keyboard. Feel like its not connected properly and wobbles alot. I like the keyboard combo. For the price, its definitely cheap.
I am going to wait for more reviews before buying. Ppl kept saying tegra 4 sucks but isnt this the first tegra 4 tablet??
Android is fine as a phone OS but not as a laptop replacement.
Actually when you consider what most people use a laptop for android makes a very good laptop. With a level of power consumption that is wonderful. Of course haswell may end that particular argument. Or at least give it a black eye. At any rate for consumption and light computation devices I like android. Given its current power growth rate and popularity it could actually overtake and dominate the laptop industry unless Microsoft and Intel step up their game quickly. I tend to think Intel and Microsoft will drop the hammer next year though. Laptop sales are Declining at an alarming rate and windows RT hurt Microsoft's pocketbook a bit so they will innovate or die. I figure with their money and Affluence they will throw a mean right hook at the market sooner or later
