Blackberry Connect on Raphael - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I don't know how much people care, but it'll be available with the AT&T version. I saw someone on the Diamond forum I think saying they got it working, there's a link right in the Messaging section of the AT&T tab and it links you to
www.htc.com/us/mobile/connect/P4600 (which doesn't exist yet of course).

Any update? Has anyone with a Raphael got Blackberry Connect working yet?

Did you try clicking the link that I said the Blackberry Connect icon linked you to from the Fuze? If you did, you would've seen that there's now a website but it shows this:
"Blackberry Connect: Coming Soon!"

Right'o.. Has anyone tried spoofing their device as a Diamond or Kaiser and run that version of Blackberry Connect?
I'd try it myself but I don't have a Blackberry plan yet.

Hi guys,
I am sorry, but I don't know if the USA Raphael is CDMA or GSM and its implications to Blackberry.
I do have the GSM Raphael and Blackberry Connect is no problem at all. Just install the latest version (see my footer) and run. No hacking required. Works perfectly, no big load to processor or memory, full integration in TF3D. Very stable device.

Yes I had it working fromt he 1st day in BIS mode. I have to say
1. It slowed the TP OS down.
2. Blocks other data traffic ports like browsing so you need to turn the connection off if you want to do other data related stuff.
3. Sends emails in plain text only and does not allow calandar accepts and rejects. (this may work in BES as calandar and contact sync is supported in the software)
I ended upi paying the contract penalty to drop BB for a standard data pack instead. emials are better although I don't have push yet.
Does not slow the OS down.

I installed BB connect when I got my Pro in August. Works like a charm and I have no problems with accepting or rejecting meeting requests.
It does eat up the battery...
Cheers
Pat

Indeed I do I have the BES Version (E for Enterprise) and its working really well too! I've used bbconnect on various devices now for about 2 years and this ones as good as any other - which is great!
I have my email, contacts and calendar all synced all of the time. I often have email arrive on my Pro faster than I do on my desk-top - its much quicker and more reliable than push email - although I do also have my g-mail synced with emoze - another great FREE app available for free from emoze.com
I dont have an issue with blackberry data connection conflicts either as both my weather update and google maps work well with bbconnect installed! I also have BlackBerry Browser running which gives full access to my corporate intranet too - only in explorer though and not Opera!
So - in summary - works on the Pro and works Really well....
Software can be found here and by the way you'll need at least version 4.0.0.100 for it to work on the Raphael.....
I've also attached here's a couple of screen shots!
.

i can also verify that it works perfectly for me as well. Here is the drawback though. It pulls your company's security policy and if that poilcy (which most are) is to lock your device you will be looking at a double lock if you already make your device lock. If you do not then you will only have one lock to get through to use the device.

I'm also a happy BES user. Just don't use over the air synchronization of contacts as I have noticed it is not always that accurate and contacts are lost with a large amount of contacts stored, so I leave that with Activesync
Only downside is that Blackberry and regular internet access are two separate connections and only one can be active at a time. Ideally I would like to see two parallel data connections.
Or perhaps even better have Opera and other "data clients" use the blackberry connection, as I have a flat fee data subscription on that.

I also have BES connection and works perfect even abroad with roaming. The thing with the security applies to me also. It is enforced by the company's security policy.

Does anybody know if there is a way to setup the blackberry service using Sashimi or any other method after a clean install? So without configuring the handset manually through BBDesktop.

There is a way to deactivate the company's security policy. After each reset though, you have to go through the unlocking still, but I use Task Manager and a lnk to it's command line to stop the BB security service. Then the security policy is disabled and won't lock the device anymore. Till you soft reset it again.
Of course not recommended from a company's security point of view, but if you are watching a movie on a plane, it is pretty annoying to enter the password each 15 minutes.
Approach me if you want more info.

I'm a Blackberry user that is thinking of migrating to the Touch Pro. What is the advantage of using BB Connect over Activesync?
Also, do you get full HTML with BB Connect? I do on my BB, so was just wondering.

The responsible startup service to lock your device is "BlackBerrySecurity" (you can find it with Memmaid, for example). If you stop that service, e.g. with Memmaid, the BB lock screen will not bother you anymore. But attention: never delete this service! (possible with Memmaid). If you delete it instead of stoping it, your device will not boot anymore and you will need a hard reset.
But if you stop the service, after any soft reset of your device you will see the BB Unlock screen again. Only after unlocking, you can then stop the service, and the company's security policy (in my case, locks device every 15 minutes) will not nag you subsequently anymore.
In the past, after a soft reset I unlocked my device at the BB lock screen, then I opened Memmaid and stopped the service manually. As I have to reset my device frequently (2-3 times daily), this was pretty annoying everytime. I wanted a way to stop the service with one fingertouch.
The excellent freeware Task Manager provides command line parameters which allows to stop selected services. I haven't found any other program that does the same. Additionally, Task Manager is small and has many useful system tools. It is actually not what it's name suggests, it is no task manager but a system tool.
This is what I did:
1. download Task Manager (I do have V3.1) from http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm
2. create a .lnk to it with the command line option to stop the BB Security service in your \Windows\StartMenu: for example "\Program Files\TaskMgr.exe" /stopsvc BlackBerrySecurity (if you have installed it in main memory)
3. Now you can reach this link from your Programs list.
I have added a different icon to it and put it in my Programs list at the first place. Now, after a soft reset, I unlock my device, then I just click the icon and the service is stopped.
Company SysAds will hate me. Take care that your data is safe in case you loose the device and use different means of protection.

Imate SP5 - first timer questions

Hello, first post here - hope I'm in the right place!
I've ordered an Imate SP5 and it should be arriving Monday or Tuesday. I was hoping to have some stuff ready to install on it for when I got it.
What's the first thing I should do? Should I try and update it to the latest ROM that everyones talking about?
I'm very interested in the Wifi feature but I keep reading how people are being connected to GPRS by mistake. I hope to use both GPRS and WIFI but would really like a good way to switch between them - is there some tweaks I can put in place?
Wireless Networks - so I might be using my home network, and then my work one. Can the device store multiple profiles (passwords, ssids, etc) for the different networks so I can just select one? Or do I need a 3rd party app? Does such an app exist?
Things like MSN etc ... will they stay logged in via GPRS if I take a call or send a text? Will they stay logged in via Wifi if I take a call or send a text?
WM5 for PDAs and WM5 for smartphones - will the same applications work across them? Also, if it works on one WM5 smartphone, will it work on another?
Cheers for your time!

There is no official ROM update for the SP5 - yet. Your phone will have the newest ROM already loaded. I believe there is a leaked one floating around out there, but unless you absolutely can't wait for push email I would say hold off until the official version.

In my experience, if there is WiFi signal and you have connected properly (meaning entered the right network key, if applicable) the phone will always use WiFi and not try to connect to GPRS. In my experience this has worked flawlessly and I use WiFi a lot.

Using GPRS, no they will not necessarily stay connected if you take a call (not sure about texts). Using WiFi, yes, that connection remains open if you take a call.

In some cases this is true. For example, some have managed to install Skype for Pocket PC on Smartphones. The underlying operating system is the same, it's just the interface (touchscreen vs not) that is the key (but not only) difference. A tool called FakeCursor for smartphone supposedly allows one to simulate the pocket PC pen, however I have never tried it. Long story short: In most cases pocket pc software just isn't usable on smartphones. I'm not sure about the other way around.
Right, now that I have it I have more questions!
I'm having some issues connecting to my home wifi...
my router says:
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
WEP Encryption Type
128bit encryption
Select key generation method
Passphrase MYNETWORKKEY
Keys generated by this Passphrase:
Active
Transmit Key
Key 1: D5 CF 34 DD DB 94 3F 79 D4 A7 B4 44 B6
On my device I select:
Authentication open/shared (have tried both)
data encryption WEP
networkkey MYNETWORKKEY
It tells me the key is invalid?
EDIT:
It only seems to work when I enter "D5 CF 34 DD DB 94 3F 79 D4 A7 B4 44 B6" and not when I enter "MYNETWORKKEY" ? Anyway around this ?
passphrases generate keys for different strengths of wep.
tkip encryption (which you'll need both ends) uses passphrases on their own, this may be a better option for you.
regardless the network key is saved as a profile for the aps you are using.
Will try that out later on - my routers being troublesome at the moment.
Is the Imate SP5 like a XDA in that you loose all your info when the battery goes? Or will it retain the data ?
It seems Word & Excel are missing from the SP5. From what I read they're on the SP5m ?
Anyway to get them on my device?

Blackberry client

Hi Folks,
I was just wondering if there is come kind of blackberry emulation/client that runs on the pda.
Our IT won´t install the nessessary exchange tools that are required for Direct Push via Active Sync, but we do have blackberry in usage.
Is there another way of getting the mail via direct push?
Cheers

Seven software is the best BB alternative. It's beta, but works FANASTICALLY. Truly, I find it better than BB Connect for WM since it uses less battery AND can still use your normal data connection.
Get the software here: http://community.seven.com/forum/index.php?forum=true
Use the download link at the top of your screen. Depending on what email you are trying to have pushed, there are different configs. But if its just POP3, IMAP, or Yahoo, or Gmail, it works. It even has a solution if you have a corporate email that sits behind a firewall on your company's intranet.
I've been using it for 8 months, and its simply awesome.
Edit: BTW, if you really want true BB client, then search the Kaiser forum for Blackberry Connect. You'll find links to download it. It works, asusming you have a BB-compatible data plan. but like I said, its a memory and CPU hog, draining your battery about 10% per hour, even limited to Edge data, with intermittent (say 15 minute) polling periods.
Seven is real-time and even on 3G, doesn't suck the battery dry. And I'm not affiliated with Seven. My posts on their hep forum will prove that. But I recommend Seven to EVERYONE who wants push mail.
thanks
Thanks for the Info,
I found BB Connect in the meantime an also manage to get it installen on WM 6.1.
I´ll give the sother SW a try on the weekend.
Cheers

Have you managed to get BB Connect working? I've tried so many different versions and have not been able to get it to work. Everytime it establishes a connection and data tunnel it disconnects immediately. I haven't heard of anyone who's got this to work. I'm talking about Blackberry Enterprise. Check out this thread:
http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276
The Seven software mentioned above, that's not for BB Enterprise server, that's just for push mail correct?

Seven is a "competing product" to BB's suite. If you are trying to connect to a BB server, then yes, you'd need BBC. But if you are just trying to get your email delivered, whether it be personal, POP3, IMAP, or you corporate email (Exchange) and you are behind a firewall, then Seven has a solution for you. Some more elegant than others. But it works. For me, it's the only option since we do use Exchange, behind a firewall, with no OWA externally accessible and BBC's software is very juice hungry.
As for getting BBC to work. Without knowing your exact setup, its hard to know what the issue is. First, make sure you are on the right data plan. I.e. for AT&T you MUST be on one of their BB data plans. Otherwise, you won't be able to get to the blackberry.net APN needed. Then, make sure you have the BBC for WM software installed on your phone and PC. (There are 2 programs, one for each) Then, connect your phone to the PC as in ActiveSync. Run the PC's program. You should notice that ActiveSync connection is severed, and the BB program should find the phone. Then go to assign a PIN and it should. Then it shoudl start to pull email to your phone.
The second software you need to run on the PC is here:
http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225
Click on the link for: ActiveSync_BBConnect_Desktop_Setup_4.0.0.17.zip
Because BBC uses a different APN than all other network access on your phone, and your phone can only connect to one APN at a time, you will not be able to do other things like surf via IE on your phone while you are connected to BBC (another reason it sucks).
There is a new version of BB client http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482411 , can somebody try it and let us know if it is working ?

Cannot connect to 802.1x PEAP MSCHAPv2 network

I cannot connect my AT&T Fuze to my work wireless network. This network requires the following settings:
Network Authentication: Open
Data Encryption: WEP (key is automatically provided)
Authentication: 802.1x Protected EAP (PEAP)
Inner Authentication: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
Problem #1 - When I add the wireless network to the Wi-Fi settings, I select EAP type as "PEAP." I try to press the <Properties> button to set the inner authentication to MSCHAPv2, but receive an error message "Cannot log on to the network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you." However this network does not require personal certificates.
Problem #2 - So I ignore that and press <Finish>. I am prompted for my credentials (username/password/domain). I enter them and press <OK>. No good. I am then repeatedly prompted for my credentials. [UPDATE: I just tried it for the 53rd time and just this once I was able to magically connect.]
I have read through many posts of similar complaints. I disabled server certification validatin by adding the ValidateServerCert value to the HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25 key even though I have successfully installed the appropriate root certificate on the device. I also added the ValidateServerCert value to the \26 key just in case. I also set the wireless power mode to Best Performance.
What makes this particularly annoying is that I configured a coworkers iPhone to connect to the network. It was a giant pain because I had to install some sort of enterprise configuration software on a server and email her a mobile configuration profile from this application. Well the joke is on me because my WM6.1 phone cannot even connect.
Advice on what to do next? Thanks for your assistance.

I am the OP. I was looking at SecureW2 as a last resort, as I am generally opposed to installing 3rd party applications to perform what should be core OS functions. Too many potential issues down the road. Fortunately I overcame my problem #2 stated above. On a separate post, somebody captured network traffic and determined that credential request/response was getting out of sync b/c the access point was not allowing enough time to respond. So after entering credentials and checking the "Save" box, I just banged away on the <OK> button as fast as possible. Eventually I connected. At this point the credentials are cached so I immediately connect from then on. I have tried this on two different HTC Fuze devices to my company's 802.1x PEAP MSCHAPv2 wireless network and it works great.
I also verified that since I installed the proper root certificate on my Fuze, I do not need to disable certificate validation by changing the ValidateServerCert registry value.
So the Windows Mobile 6.1 networking has two problems that will hopefully be fixed in a future update to make this easier for everyone.
So all you do is hit the OK button as fast as possible?
just making short login ans password

The length of the username and password do not matter. And most credentials used with corporate networks are subject to complexity rules so cannot be arbitrarily short.
I found another solution, well the It guys from my Uni did.
Apparently you just have to increase the Wifi power setting to max. Otherweise the phone cannot process the peap crypto processes as it is limited by power saving mode.

as0r: Changing the wifi power setting did not resolve problem #2 described in my original post, repeated login prompts.
jvar11889: How far did you make it, are you experiencing at problem #2 described in my original post, repeated login prompts? Is your required wifi configuration the same (802.1x PEAP MSCHAPv2)? I have succeeded on two different Fuzes, multiple times.

I disagree because the release notes clearly list the DLL's installed on your device. There is nothing inherently wrong with 3rd party software; I just like to reduce complexity by only installing additional software when I can't get what I want using the buillt-in features. If this was the only way I could connect to my 802.1x network, I would certainly install it.
I'm glad you are up and running. I have a hard time believing Microsoft is not aware of these problems. If they are serious about WM competing with iPhone and Android, Microsoft needs to jump on top of problems like this.

I agree with you! MS should do something about this! However, i talked to the EU HTC Support team, and they said a new ROM / Fimrware is due to be released end of February! Maybe there will be some kind of fix to this problem? Have heard that the HTC TP have some kind of problems installing certificates or something like that (havent read this myself, just heared it from someone working in a Cell Phone shop).
Hope you'll post here if you find a better solution!

Exchange Server on TP2.. not being pushed automatically....

Sprint Touch PRO2
Stock ROM
I use the exchange server. my email is not being pushed in real time. on the TP1 i had no issues with this and the mail would come in "as items arrive" which is how i prefer it.
if i do a manual sync it will connect and download any email..
if i set it to a predetermined number to sync in the drop down list it DOES those intervals with no issues..
data switch is ON and data works. i am just not getting the "as items arrive". adjusting the peak times does nothing...
are there any reg entries i need to look at?anything i can check? ive deleted and re-installed the exchange server but when set to "as items arrive" it will not fetch. it WILL fetch if i have the phone connected to ASync on the computer (either via BT or USB).
would appreciate any response from others who use an Exchange... could it be an issue on the company Exchange server side? i dont see how as i was getting the email just fine using "as items arrive" on the TP1. i no longer have the TP1 so cant check anything there...
I used to have an HTC Sprint Mogul, now have TP2. When I first got the Mogul 2 yrs ago, I could connect to my company's exchange server from the phone but direct push didn't work. Same issues as you described. I double checked all my settings.
I got a free mail2web account and deleted my comany's server to set it up (can only have one exchange server which is dumb). From the mail2web server, direct push worked perfectly every time.
To me that said there was a config problem with the server. I brought this to the attention of my company mail server admin. who was not impressed. He said his winmo phone gets push mail from the co server no problem so that was that.
A few months later, direct push started working. I didn't change any setting on my phone.
You could try mail2web free trial and see if that works.
http://mail2web.com/mobile-email/
I have the same server set up with my Sprint TP2 an so far DP works fine. Stock ROM.
You wouldn't happen to be using the Gmail push, would you? Many people have been having problems with Google's rollout of the new feature. My push email works sporadically, and attachments won't download if the file name is too long/complicated.
thank you for your response! i will contact them and see if i can get some more info.. this is a blackberry company FIRST! well it seems that it may lie on the company end... thx again and if i get some response back ill respond here...
ok i have been thru 3 sprint touch PROs now and this new one still can not hold onto the Async connection wirelessly.
a few times after a soft reset it will connect wirelessly but after some time it will just close the connection. im always in a good signal area and i have not installed any programs to alter the outlook ordata in any way. in fact the only programs i have are resco photo view, pocket mechanic, and resco registry editor.
can any sprint users comment on if they are able to KEEP their exchange running WIRELESSLY on their phone and have it set to "as items arrive" with no issues? i can set it to those preset fetch times in the drop down box but i dont want to do that and thats not PUSH email as im used to with the PRO1.
any help/opinions appreciated....
are there any reg entries i can look in to see what may be the issue?
Hi, I'm trying to sort out a similiar issue using FlexMail.
Flexmail is the best software I could find to receive mails instantly. It works great with Gmail and Exchange servers. Right now, I have 2 accounts configured (Gmail and Exchange).
In my TYTN II (which I don't have anymore) flexmail worked great. Mail got pushed 5-20 seconds after being send.
Now that I have Touch Pro 2, everything seems to work fine but somehow, when the device is sleep, the connection will eventually drop and I won't receive any mails until I wake up the device.
When I wake up my device, GPRS connection is still there. I don't know if it's related but I also configured my device to download weather every 1 hour and that doesn't happen if the device is asleep: I mean, when I wake up in the morning I can still see the moon in TF3D wheather tab.
I'm using latest official HTC ROM and everything seems to be fine in the registry settings.
I'll probably try a different ROM, but I'm pretty sure this can be solved digging a little more in the registry.
Another big difference is windows mobile version. TYTN II uses 6.1 while TP2 uses 6.5. I could try installing the official 6.1 rom and see what happens.
Marctronixx are you still having issues with Push Mail?
hey there, yes its still hit or miss with exchange on the TP2 (sprint). i also have a htc hero with exchange and it gets the email pushed instantly as it should with no issues... even while sleeping... others state they dont have this issue with exchange on their PRO2 on sprint but i am having it.. sometimes the connection will stay up even after the phone is sleep (Screen off) then it will eventually just disconnect.. no rhyme or reason as to why... didnt mean to vent! LOL but yeah issue is still there...
I can confirm Flexmail works ok with HTC Official ROM (WinMo 6.1). This is the ROM I'm using right now: RUU_Rhodium_hTC_Asia_HK_WWE_1.19.721.3_Radio_Rhodium_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship
It doesn't have all the eye candy you will find with new TF3D and WinMo 6.5 but your battery should last longer and push mail should work like expected.
I don't know If I will keep this ROM. I'll have to try another windows mobile 6.5 roms to check if the problem persists with every 6.5 rom out there.
Another thing we could try is ping every 5 minutes some address in order to keep the connection alive. I think this problem has something to do with the connection closing because of inactivity, even if your device is configured to stay connected.
What do you guys think?
has nothing to do with the connection being alive or not because the data connection is always up on my device. i also have other things running in the background that uses data. out of a hard reset and only loading up the exchange credentials, it will still disconnect. its hit or miss as sometimes it will be connected.. most often it will not stay connected and it wont always connect out of a soft reset... luckily i have the htc hero so i get my items pushed... just weird... yeah i cold do the 5 minute poll but that kills battery faster. once seido gets their extended batt out i may end up doing the 5 minute poll..
My connection is also up all the time on my device, but Flexmail loses IDLE with server when the device is asleep for some time (this doesn't happen with the ROM I told you).
What other things are you running that uses data?
I could try gmail with exchange and tell you my results with different roms. What ROM are you using?
Can you try the ROM I'm using right now? (RUU_Rhodium_hTC_Asia_HK_WWE_1.19.721.3_Radio_Rhodi um_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship)
i tried the gmail exchange early on and it was slow and didnt make a difference either... still had unreliable push service... i dont know i have wifi on with the PRO and maybe the WIFI messes with something? im going to try and remember to turn off wifi when im at the job tomorrow and see if it stay connected with wifi off.. maybe i interferes? my PRO is cleaned up nicely. i dont want to install a ROM and redo things...
...ooh the reason im late responding is i could not get on the site.. kept getting a "bad gateweay" error....

Same happened to me
ooh im using stock ROM from Sprint. i take it by looking at the link you gave me you not in the US? and as for data programs, i have the instant messengers up and running as well as 1 imap email and several pop emails...
ooh and im glad im not the only one who had the bad gateway issue...
Well, one big difference between our devices: mine is GSM and yours is CDMA. Besides that, I still think we might have a similar issue. Why? Because my TILT was working flawlessly with Flexmail and when I bought my TILT 2, using the exact same program, same SIM, same service, etc; it doesn't work like it should. And what is more, the problem for both of us is somehow related with push mail/imap idle which is the same idea (I mean, we need to get mails "as they arrive").
Right now I'm flashing another ROM. This time it's a clean AT&T ROM (without all the usual garbage).
I think I'll try Exchange connection this time with my work server and let you know how it works.
Wish me luck
thank you for updating... yes i do believe we have the same issue.. i know there is a heartbeat sent from the exchange server to the device.. kinda like how wifi devices talk to APs to let them know they are there... and somehow the device loses that. anyway, yes definitely keep me on the loop on how this new rom works out. if i may ask, do you use wifi when our home or do you just let your device stay on the cellular connection? do you let the wifi "take over" when you get home automatically or do you not use it at all? im going to turn off wifi today and see if the phone will stay connected to exchange...
Sorry for being late!! I have news
After fighting with my TILT 2 I found the perfect mixture for me.
Please remember that I don't have a CDMA device but a GSM one, don't know if ROMs and radios are different, I guess they are .
First of all, I flashed original AT&T ROM from here: http://mobilitydigest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15639&postcount=10
Flashing that ROM brought back the original radio that came with my device which is: 4.48.25.20
After that I had to get rid of that ROM because it's full of software I don't want so I flashed this one which is an AT&T clean ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585403 (with HTC Sense 2.1 instead of AT&T Manila).
I've been using ActiveSync through Exchange for 4 days and it works flawlessly. I also installed Flexmail and it's working like a charm.
For some reason, Touch Pro 2 radio didn't work too well with my device. I have latest HardSPL.
I did a hard reset after installing my final ROM, it's always recommended to do a hard reset after flashing.
Now to answer your question: I'm always connected through data connection (3G). I don't use wifi unless I get out of my country.
welp glad all worked for you... perhaps i should look into a 3rd party ROM but i just like how mine is working , save the Async issue.....
Same Issue here
I have a unlocked sprint touch Pro2.
I have the caluklins ROM installed.
The activesync works only for the first time when I do a soft reset.
After that even if i try to do a manual syn it does not work.
Any luck so far guys?

Can't login to Skype

I've download skype 3.0 from various locations and threads in this forum but, no matter which install I use wheather install from PC to Htc Hd2 or install cab directly from Htc Hd2. When I input my login into into skype in the htc hd2 it just gets stuck to the skype screen with rotating blue circle like it's continuing to try and login and then eventually get a "network connection not available" or something even though I'm connected to wifi network. It just won't login, and I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm on T-mobile is it since the phone is locked to t-mobile does it have to be unlocked to use skype?
thanks
I thought Skype support was being pulled for mobile devices except iPhone??? Anyway have you told Skype what connections to use. In the settings somewhere it say Wi-Fi, 3G and ActiveSync MAke sure the entry with 3G is in use. Also if you don't use a proxy server, make sure it is unticked in the connections settings for the phone itself. I had this issue when I first used Skype on my HD2. I don't use it anymore as I thought the service via my mobile was utter garbage. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for the reply. Skype doesn't support the Windows Mobile version anymore but, apparently it's still possible to install it and get it working from what others are saying. I was previously only trying with the ActiveSynch/Wi-Fi but, this time reinstalled it and selected ActiveSynch/Wi-Fi/Mobile but, it's still doing the same thing and proxy server is unchecked.
Can't help with the issue you're having, but maybe useful for some people to know you can still download Skype for WinMo if you select server 2 from from the Skype download page on freewareppc.
Server 1 (skypes own download link) is no longer active.

Hey dude,
It happens with me all the time...what i do i uninstall it and reinstall
strange enough works after
I still have the problem. I was able to log in last year (2011), but not anymore. Maybe it's because of my custom rom? Just installed one...
