**NEW** [5-11-08] Kaiser 1.65.20.29 Radio Only - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

This is the radio only NBH. Please flash at your own risk. I have no idea as I dont currently have a device to verify that this also locks you to the radio as the previous radio from Hell. Once again, please flash at your own risk. I advise to be Security Unlocked prior to flashing anyway.

It appears that this radio does not have the "locking" bug as reported in the 1.65.17.10 radio. So, enjoy.
**THIS RADIO WILL NOT REMOVE THE 1.65.17.10 RADIO. UNFORTUNATELY YOU ARE STILL STUCK WITH IT UNTIL A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND. SOME OF THE BEST MINDS IN THIS FORUM ARE WORKING ON IT. PLEASE BE PATIENT.**

Guys be carefull.. I have 3 Tilts but all are security unlocked. Cant test... but newbies DONT FLASH THIS RADIO UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT WHAT THE DEAL IS!

Very well said. Thats why I added the warning. Also stated I advise security unlocking regardless.

Can 1.65.17.10 be changed to this radio?
I just saw this post after I posted on the another thread. By the way, could someone with 1.65.17.10 please report that if you can upgrade from the first version of the radio from hell ? And I also would like to know if your phone is "Security Unlock" or not.
Thanks in Advance

I posted on the original ROM thread, and although hesitant to be redundant, this is more relevant here...
I am security unlocked but this is the process I just validated:
- Started off on 1.65.17.10.
- Flashed up to 1.65.20.29 (radio Only)
- Flashed down to 1.65.17.10.
- Flashed down to 1.64.08.21
- Flashed back up to 1.65.20.29 (radio Only)
- Flashed back down to 1.64.08.21
So it appears that the security unlocking still allows you to get by whatever these radios are using to lock us to them.

Thanks

Thanks Man! I also saw on the oem thread. Which method did you use for your security unlock (Jocky or Olipro)? I used olipro method (with AT Command) to security unlock mine but i'm not dare to try yet.

I used the Jocky toys to unlock as soon as I saw the first few people who flashed accidentally to the radio from hell; I didn't want to test the wrong ROM and get stuck because the radio was left inside...
Call me paranoid... but my theory is read, search and watch...

Thanks Again! I see. As long as I know people who Security Unlock with Jocky can freely change the radio, but I'm still not sure about Olipro method. As far as I know, I haven't seen anyone report anything about Olipro sec. unlock, or I might miss it somehow.
In fact, I know that it doesn't matter which method I used to security unlock, I should be safe to change the radio. Please someone with Olipro Security Unlock confirm that it's safe to flash this radio.

Mine is still locked to 1.65.17.10 after trying to flash to the new radio.

Yes Olipro's Method works as well, but you have to make sure you use the [email protected] to security unlock it permanently.

Ok Thanks, In the boot loader, there is "Security Unlock" shows on the top of the screen. and I did use simlock=7,0 (if i remember correctly because I was almost a month)
By the way, AllTheWay, after your warranty, did you try the radio from hell yet?

Nope still to chicken.

To soon to tell on battery life and no calls to make this time of night, but I am pulling average 1058 kbit/sec on 1MB file test at DSL Reports, and holding a steady 6 satellites on GPS using Google Maps. Sitting in my home office, I'm usually lucky to pull 1 satellite...
Not sure how this compares with the other current radios, but so far so good.

Any comments about the radio please

is there a way to security unlock once u have the 1.65.17.10 radio?
i dont understand why at&t would lock a radio so u can't even update it.

Following the thread on this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387395), I don't believe anyone has found a way to security unlock it after 1.65.17.10 has been flashed, but the best minds on XDA are working on it.

I don't think at&t intentionally locked the radio, I believe the general consensus is that this was a mistake. Keep in mind that it was taken from a test rom, no a public release...

The bug which was introduced in Radio 1.65.17.10 is corrected. So you can update this radio version 1.65.20.29 also when your device is not security unlocked. I checked this by patching oemsbl such that it thinks my device is sec locked and then tried to flash radio 1.64.08.21 which worked. I tried it another time and flashed 1.27.12.11 which also worked.
For the two or three other specialists over here: the BGT @90D53C was changed to a BNE @90D538. Once again, this was a clear bug in 1.65.17.10, but hey, that's what can happen if you flash radios from a test rom.
PS: of course I do not take any liability if it doesn't work. It's always the best thing to security unlock your device first.
PPS: the status on the 1.65.17.10 problem is that I need to find a way to put the device in dload mode. Once that can be done I can unjail your phone.
PPS: i can now unbrick any "task 2a" bricks which do not have radio 1.65.17.10 installed. I'm waiting for final confirmation by GSLEON3 tho.

i use [May 10] L26 FF V4 ...
is compatible with this radio?
thank's

Just run the SuperCID steps. This will security unlock your device. After my device got stuck with what was deemed, "the radio from hell" I have become and advocate of this process.
Seems that HTC has been doing some funny things. Jockyw2001 has confirmed this
jockyw2001 said:
A new sort of "Radio from Hell" emerged for the Diamond. See here. It combats rom updating by preventing us from running a SSPL.
A clear advice to all is: always make sure you have HardSPL installed and your device is security unlocked before installing a new radio !!

Can I flash Radio without running HSPL

Hi,
I have problem in locking GPS after upgrading to WM6.1 from HTC. I stay in Singapore.
I read many threads and understand GPS locking problem could be due to Radio version and also different Radio version for different countries.... I'm confused and have no confident in proceed further as I also read a lot of problem in flashing ROM. Wonder is it possible to flash ROM without running HSPL? any other solution for GPS locking instead of Radio issue?
The current status of my TyTnII shown in Device Information as follow:-
ROM Version: 3.29.707.o WWE
ROM date: 05/07/08
Radio version : 1.65.16.25
Any expert advice please..
Additional information: I stay in Singapore.
Ok, to flash anything to youre device, you will need to install HardSPL, this will then allow you to flash a new radio to youre device. Radios can be found Here
Following this you will need to flash youre old SPL to youre device. These can be found Here
Sam
You must Hard SPL to Flash anything (except ROM's released by your carrier).
Read this wiki page and follow the steps: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
This will guide you through unlocking your phone so your can flash it.
Thanks

I thought you don't need to have hardSPL to flash radio since all the radios are official releases? Besides all Singapore cellphones are unlocked.
Can some experts confirm this?
If it's alright to flash then I'll recommend KAIS_RADIO_ONLY_1.71.09.01
The GPS locks under 10 secs. Fastest I lock I got was about 2.5 secs
Reception is also very good

No. I mod everything lah.
But if you have the need to send in for repair within the warranty period can still flash back to the official one and return it. Flashing it back to the official rom is the easiest part cos only need 1 file and run once

c) You use HSPL3.29? Tried HSPL3.56?
d) Flash back to official rom is by only one file? which is it?
Sorry to ask so many question. Surely you can answer la. Wait for it
Thanks.

a) nope..never had that problem.

Singapore ones use the SEA versions listed in the Country column
but before flashing need to follow the instructions first. Though I'll suggets you send in your phone to check for problems first before you flash jsut in case haha
I don't understand where people get the idea that an unlocked phone will allow you to flash any ROM or radio to your phone... An unlocked phone is only "carrier unlocked". This means you can switch your sim card for another companies' sim card and use their service. You will still have to mod your phone to change the software (ie. HardSPL). This does not matter where you may live. Places like Europe have laws in most areas that restrict companies from selling carrier locked phones but not phones with locked software. I hate that here in North America we have carrier locked phones. If I bought a phone for $600 or more and decided to switch carriers, I would be forced to change phones and toss my old phone. It is different if you were to switch from TDMA/CDMA to GSM as not all phones can connect to both systems, but staying on the same system we still get kicked in "the junk" and are forced to buy a new contract and phone. That is why I hate locked phones.

CID unlock 3.56?

Hey guys! been lurking around the forums for eons, but haven't 'dove in' till just recently. Have a couple of questions.
Some months ago I did the free upgrade to WinMO 6.1.
I got Tilt SID unlocked by calling up AT&T and telling them I was going to Europe. My T-mobile SIM card is working just fine.
After a few hours of cussing, I managed to beat HardSPL 3.56 into my phone, because it already had SPL 3.56 on it.
Now I'm stuck trying to CID unlock and I can't seem to find a utility to work with it. The 'chain' of threads I followed dead ended saying downgrade to get it work, but I don't want to do that. I had a hard enough time getting HardSPL 3.56 to install. Then I ran across Jockyw's CID unlocker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1837147 and found myself saying ooo and ahh! But, it won't work with ANY 3.xx HardSPL.
Is there a CID unlocker compatible with 3.56??
I'd love to have AT command mode stuff and etc. from jockyw's, but at this point I think I'll take whatever I can get without needing to downgrade.
I can't seem to find it now, but didn't there used to be a list of pre-cooked ROMs here somewhere?
I think what I'm aiming at is a fully patched / hacked 6.1 HTC ROM with everything fixed and no bugs. Preferably minus any bloatware. If it has recommended utilities pre-installed great, if not, no big loss. Did they ever finish hacking a video driver together? I lost track of that thread, and can't seem to find any current info.
I've been waiting for a working Linux distro for a HTC device for years, but I'm going to throw in the towel and make the best of what I can get on windows. I've spent over $3000 on these HTC devices over the years, but don't rely on them because of all the bugs. Once I get my Tilt patched up, I'm jumping ship and trading in my old ones for a G1.
Thanks for any help!
p.s. I DO have to CID unlock before I can install any other ROMs.. right??
p.p.s. Here's all the details if it's any help:

If you have any of the HARD SPL installed(3.56 from your words).
You can flash any ROM you want.
No need to CID unlock separately.
With Hard SPL, your Device is CID unlocked already.
Your pda doesn't not have hard spl installed on it

I received my replacement Tilt 4 days ago from At&t and it came with WM6.1 and spl 3.56.0000 and you are right I cant find anything to change that spl. I have tried to CID UNlock and I get the white screen, so I tried jump spl 1.56 and 1.93 and neither one of them worked. So now I'm stuck with this 3.56.0000, I sent Jocky a PM and He told me that he was looking in to it and that he will get back to me. So I have to wait. Or maybe someone will read this that has a fix for this issue and help us.
I just bought my Tilt too, it also came with 3.56 and WM6.1 but I had NO problems unlocking and flashing hard SPL to it.
Now, what happens when you run Jump 1.93? and are you running it directly from your main memory NOT from a SD card, and no SD card is in the phone?
If you follow the directions EXACTLY it will work.
1 Run Jump SPL from your main memory
2 tri color boot screen saying jump 1.93 should show up, with USB at the bottom
3 Unplug your device wait 30 sec and plug it back in
4 In Active sync on your PC disable USB connections (I've actually flashed spl's without doing this)
5 Now run the customRUU with the hard spl file you want to upload.

Yes I did all that I'm very familar with the process this is my 5th tilt 2 of them the CID Unlock run just fine and the other 2 I that to run jump 1.56 to get pass the white screen. But for some reason I cant get anything to work on this tilt. I even try to install the OG WM6.0 to try to downgrade the spl but that did work either. Do you have any other suggestions?
IIRC for me to run the CID unlocker program I needed to flash the SPL first.
What is happening when you are trying to run the Jump SPL files? It's just not making sense.
You need to flash Hard SPL 3.29 BEFORE you try to run the unlocker, you can't do 3.56 then try to unlock it. Once its unlocked then flash it with hard 3.56 if you so desire.
Also after doing the 3.29 spl you need the proper cracked radio flashed to allow you to unlock the device, are you skipping that step?
It sounds like your trying to do an SPL upgrade and NOT SIM unlock the device since that step comes after.

No what I'm trying to do is CID Unlock my phone but is not working I get the white screen. I have tried everything I know to get pass it. I'm not trying to install hard spl 3.29 or 3.56. I have to CID Unlock my phone first right? That is what I've always done before. I'm out of ideas.
What is on your phone right now?
Factory SPL?
Factory 6.1 rom?
If so you need to run Oli's Sim Unlocker and CID Unlocker exe, this will FIRST flash a 3.29 hard SPL to your phone, THEN then next step is to flash a cracked radio and then you can sim and CID unlock your phone. As noted before tho a CID unlock is NOT necessary, if your Sim unlocked and Hard SPL'd you can do whatever you want to the phone.

Thank you very much for all your help BerettaFreak you are the man!
Heeey! Did my thread get hijacked?
Lol, Ok where to start..
skr_xd:
If you DON'T need to CID unlock, then the Newb instructions are a bit confusing. Why does it say to install HardSPL, then CID unlock?
What or why would I need to CID unlock separately? ..or is it the Security unlock bit, Or SuperCID that I'm still missing? There must be some point to it, Because Oli's Does HardSPL then SIM unlock, THEN CID unlock.
Vol22002:
I DID get HardSPL 3.56 installed. I used JumpSPL 1.56. DO remember to yank out the SD and SIM card. Note the very bottom of my post says those stats listed are BEFORE I installed HardSPL.
I still need some more help with finding a ROM, but I suppose that would be best addressed in a new thread, so I'll do that.
Thanks again!

CID Unlocking is done by installing the Hard SPL, the Hard SPL's don't check the Carrier ID (CID) when flashing new ROM's.

SuperCID Set's your CID to 11111111, Security unlock removes an extra check when Flashing Radios to avoid you getting stuck on some radios.

Just follow all the steps in the Guide by mskip and post and problems you have there. Understanding is not a pre-requisite, with that guide, you can figure out what all the steps do later...
Simply put:
HardSPL / CID Unlock / Super CID - Allows ROM's and Radio's to be flashed.
SIM Unlock - Allows you to use a foriegn SIM card
Security Unlock - Avoids problems when flashing some Radios.

Hey, thanks for the fast reply Dave!
Ok, So I COULD still Security unlock it, If I could find a security unlocker that worked with 3.56.
The bit about problems flashing radios sounds a bit like something that happens right before your phone becomes a brick. Could you point me to a resource about problem radios or how to avoid them?
I actually prefer to leave the radio alone, if I can get away with it. I just want a patched up ROM, as I mentioned earlier and in my new thread.
Anyway, If I end up needing to replace my radio, how do I avoid 'problem ones'. I understand that some radios simply don't work with some ROMs, but you seem to be eluding to something different here.
Thanks again!!

To Security Unlock, just follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361236
Then upgrade to HardSPL 3.56 again.
Security Unlocking is done by setting a flag in the NAND. It's permanent (unless you re-lock) and there are no comptability problems once it is set (you need to use a special Hard SPL to set it first though).
EDIT:
There is no list of known bad radio's - only the "Radio from Hell" 1.65.17.10 - but another Radio from hell could appear any day

Dave
Thanks for clearing that up Dave.
I think I'm going to opt to ignore the security unlock, since it sounds like it's on an 'as needed' basis.
I have 'batter fish to fry' at the moment. I'm grinding gears trying to figure out HOW to figure out which ROMs I should be looking into, in my other thread.
By the by guys, I was joking about the 'hijacked thread' thing, I'm sure somebody will find the info useful.
Just when i though I had this all figured out and was about to Flash my first ROM.
I have read and re-read the flashing wikis and am still confused.
If your on WM6 then you need to use Jockyw2001's Kaiser SuperCID and Security Unlocker v0.1 right? But if you are on WM6.1 then you use Olipro's Kaiser SIM/CID Unlocker & Changer right?
Well I am currently on WM6 pro and dont want to upgrade to 6.1 just to use Olipro's program. So I would go with Jocky's right. Then people say you need to flash a HardSPL first before doing the SuperCID and Security Unlocker. But then in Jocky's directions it says Note that the security unlocker does not work with "SPL-3.28.Hard" and "SPL-3.29.Hard".
So what SPL do you start with.
And I know Dave already told me this earlier that since I have an AT&T Tilt and I am with AT&T service then I dont have to worry about SIM unlocking obviously. So can I skip the whole CID/SUPER CID/SECURITY UNLOCK routine. Can I just Flash HardSPL 3.29 or 3.56 and then start playing with ROMS till my hearts content or is all the security stuff really that neccessary?
So I am lost once again. Wow. I dont know why I am not getting this.
P.S. On another note, I am using AT&T Tilt with shipped ROM running WM6 pro. I have about 40-50 programs installed on it. When first setting up my phone I did the soft reset which supposedly gets rid of the bloatware. Anyways, with all my programs and it being the stock ROM I still have 62MB free PROGRAM RAM. I do however only have like 30MB Storage RAM. But 62MB of free PROGRAM RAM. I see people with naked ROMS that only get like 55MB of free PROGRAM RAM, is my phone like magic or something? Just curious as to how this may be possible.

There is a Hard SPL 1 by pof. Flash that first then follow Jocky's instructions.
Also the OliPro Security unlock isn't permenant, next time you flash a Radio it's gone.
Ta
Dave
Ok so Flash the Hard SPL 1 by pof
Then follow Jockys directions in using his Kaiser SuperCID and Security Unlocker v0.1
Then Flash either HardSPL 3.29 or 3.56. WHichever I choose?
Then go crazy with playing with different ROMS.
P.S. So every time you Flash a HardSPL it overwrites the previous one? Or do you have to get rid of a HardSPL first before putting a new one on?

Flashing a new SPL overrides the old one.
You said before you were happy with WM6.0, if so use either the pof Hard SPL v1 or the jockyw Hard SPL v1.1 (Part of the security unlock); if you are using WM6.1, use one of the jockyw or cmonex Hard SPL 3.**. Using the wrong version won't break your phone, but Windows will randomly freeze.

Dave
Thanks again Dave for helpin me out and not tearing me a new one. But just one last question.
If I find a new ROM that I want to Flash and it uses WM6.1 then I have to make sure that I flash a HardSPL 3.xx before flashing that new ROM, is that what ur saying?

Which is the best bootloader

The ADP1.1h Came with a new boot-loader so now there are 4 boot-loaders engineering boot-loader, ADP1 boot-loader, ADP1.1 Boot-loader, and the RC Boot-loader(worst)
Why would you want any other SPL than HardSPL?
i am asking wheather the boot-loader came with adp1.1h is thebetter one ag google may know that ppl use hardspl so it would be better to provide 1 better than it or an official better 1... i m not saying i would switch on to it so easily
Well hardspl is just an edit of the old adp bootloader. Will it be updated?

Warranty perhaps? My G1 is going back to T-Mobile for hardware problems and they probably won't accept the phone if it is running an unofficial SPL.

I hear you, but if there is something hardware related my guess they would never bother to check the SPL. I've had some HTC phones in for service, they were all with modified SPL and firmware and I never got any warranty issues.
I bought the Dream second hand off ebay and living in Norway I'm pretty much stuck solving any problems myself .

Rom Flashing Question

Hey Everyone-
This post has probably already been answered but i have been searching the forums (and google) and getting mixed results.
I looking to flash the ROM on my HTC Touch Pro (Fuze). However, I've read that my phone must be unlocked to flash a new radio, but not a new ROM. However I've also read that with a new ROM comes a new Radio. So which is it? Do i need to unlock my phone to flash a new ROM because if not i will have a phone w/o a Radio?
Thanks alot, these forums are awesome.
From my understanding, you only need to unlock the phone if you want to use another device's radio. For example, you have a Touch Pro, if you wanted to put a Touch HD radio on it then the phone needs to be unlocked. However, if you want to put another Touch Pro radio on your touch pro you shouldn't need to unlock the phone.
To answer your second question about Roms with or without radios.... They come both ways but I have mostly seen Roms without included radios. Just read the desired Rom info page to find out if it includes a radio or not.
Unlock (HardSPL) is always necessary. No matter if u flash a radio, a rom or a radio/rom.
The only moment when u do not need to unlock is if u flash an official update , radio or rom, that is made from ur provider for ur phone. Or if its unbranded , the update is downloaded from htc itself with ur serial number entered befor.
BTW: Unlock (HardSPL) means that the loader of ur phone accepts NOT signed Roms or radio files for flashing.
Thank you both for the quick replies. So that i have this clear-
I can download and run hardspl according to the instructions etc, etc. Then if i choose to flash a rom without a radio i can. Then (or before) I can flash a Fuze Radio to my phone all without sim unlocking my phone?
Do i have that right?
Thank a million

Not shure if I got u correct in the first post:
By unlock do u mean SIM unlock ? Means use sims from any provider.
By unlock u mean entering the pin number to use ur phone ?
By unlock u mean (what I thought first) enabling the phone to accept any kind of rom ?
Normally a new radio is not always needed, I flash most of the times leaving my radio as it is, if its good in reception and power consumption
2. What are the different types of Unlock? (answer by DaveShaw)
The three stages of unlock are:
SIM: Allows you to use SIM's from another carrier. Can be done using codes or unlocker programs on xda-devs.
Security: Allows you to flash radios from another device (i.e. Raphael) - It does other stuff, but this is all the casual user will use it for
CID: CID unlocking is an old concept, nowadays you flash Hard SPL instead. This lets you flash any ROM, Splash or Radio (depending on sec unlock) to your device. N.B. the CID is the carrier ID (e.g. HTC__001). The stock SPL's only let you flash ROM's that match the CID in the ROM image with the CID on your device.
Also, SuperCID is an even older concept no longer valid on newer devices.

These are what I understand as the levels of Unlocking... so you're right. I was talking about a security unlock (my apologies). The carrier shouldn't have anything to do with the process. And i don't need special software to security unlock the phone right? (that's where i was getting confused)
As for that last part--
So assuming i like the reception and battery usage i get right now I can flash any ROM i want w/o worrying about losing the radio? And if i do get a ROM with a radio is the radio installed automatically or are there two steps? Thus enabling me to install the ROM without the radio that came with it?
Many Thanks

Ok, first u have to HardSPL (What does: Ur Phone accepts any radio and/or rom)
From here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, we will soon post a stock SPL downgrade package.

If u have a touch pro and want to use Diamond or Blackstone radios then u have to do look here, first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426609
Then:
Flash ROM -> ur radio stays the same
Flash Radio -> ur rom stays the same
Flash all in one -> Both are changing, radio and rom.
Look in the roms thread, they tell u if it comes with or without radio. I think most of the times without. The original Raphael rom from HTC is WITH radio btw
Thank you very, very, very much!!!
Im gonna give this a try now.
Once again, many thanks.
