cingular just massing my day\how to fry ur device? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

So im with cingular for 7 yrs now. My bill is around 200 plus a month. I got the tilt and prior to that I had the treo and prior to that any other smart phone\expensive\looked complicated device that they had... (What can I do...im a sucker for gadgets like must of us)?
So my Kaiser is so geared up rite now had the l26 6.1 rom on it the whole thing was set up I mean seriously nirvana. Well besides not being able to run some hybrid apps on it but then again I was happy with my Kaiser.
Then the screen went of seems like it just broke. I mean no joke I wasn’t even touching the phone. I guess it vibrated and just I dono...1 in a mil type of accident(my whole house is carpet to carpet I mean no chance it fell to the ground and got hit..) so im taking these device of mine which I nurse better then I nurse my self to cingular..and those bustards tells me it wont be under warranty and that ill need to buy a new one.(and of course that the sound that the device make with the keypad isn’t normal and did I tweaked the device gee u guys are pretty smart up there huh??? ) well anyways they cant see that I dont have the original rom cuz the screen isn’t working... but I figured if warranty will send me a new phone they will charge me full price( well that was the solution of the guy at the cingular store),.
I guess I nid to fry the device...how do I do that...? Microwave??
neways guys if any of u got a way to fry or terminate the device to the point of it no going on at all and not showing light in the screen or that the screen broken plz plz let me know. I would hate to shall another 500$ for those assholes..
Thanks a lot.

Just buy a replacement LCD and repair it yourself....
Its real easy(and inexpensive) to replace the lcd....here's some places to look
http://www.pdazoo.com/mm5/merchant....-Accessories&Store_Code=ZOO&Affiliate=froogle
http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...maxRecordsPerPage=50&SortProperty=MetaEndSort

dono...kinda scared opening it up by myself...
i mean i love my kaiser but im scared my hands r too big for this thing....

Similar problem
I had may screen crack when it was in my pocket. I didn't touch it and it shouldn’t have broken. It cracked in a weird way. There was a visible crack but the LCD part didn't leak all over the place. I could see the screen just fine the only thing that did not function was the ability to use the touch screen. I called ATT and spoke with the agent who told me it was not under warranty because it was cracked. I insisted that it was a defect in the device because I had not done anything to it (I suspect it was the tempter change from the warm car to the cold) they should replace it. I asked to speak with a manager (escalation department) and again explained the situation and they he told me he would do a one time replacement and now I have a working phone. Hope that helps.

so just a second...they sent u a new phone
or refurbished one?
i mean mines only 3 months old,...we didnt even clbrtd 1 yr birthday to it...

You should be able to revert back to the default rom for the tilt, to get the default sliding sound back, if that is what they are using to say you are not under warranty. You should be able to do this without needing to see the screen if you do it using activesync.

Yes it was a refurbished one but it is a lot better then a broken one

he can still go into bootloader mode and fix it. Flash the WM6 Radio, then flash the factory WM6 ROM. Doesnt matter if you can see the screen or not.
And to be honest. The last tilt i had to send in was running WM6.1, and they sent me a brand new one, without even question me. I was shocked.
Good luck though!

My Qtek2020 digitizer got damaged by water. I had it changed but now the screen won't align and makes infinite loops. The repair man said its becuase the bios has been deleted. I think otherwise. Is new digitizer not properly installed or is it a software issue?
Also, is there a place to download a bios for the phone in question without having to register?
You can try to reflash the phone,
Or send it to qtek, and slap that shoddy repair men in the face with piece of fish. For his smelly work.

I have downloaded a XDA2 rom and will ask him to reflash it. He won't let me take the phone home since I have not paid him yet. He even left his dirty finger marks on the inside of the digitizer. No way Im paying him until he gets everything sorted out .
What do you think? Software issue or hardware issue?
I don't think a Qtek repair exists in Pakistan. No warranty for water damage.
Worst come worst Ill see it off on ebay for parts or something
My first day with this phone (my dad's hand me down . he bought a comminator 9300) and its in the water. Thats what happened with my 6600 two years back as well. That worked fine for 8 months
thnx for the replies
edit: whats the approximate value of a XDA2 in the UK? New? PPC phones are pretty damn expensive. But If I get hooked, Ill sell my $1500 pc parts
It finally goes pass the align screen but the edges of the screen donot work...yet he says.
Anyways, there is still a mark on the other side of the digitizer.
Im going to use it for a couple of months and if I like Ill be getting a new PPC after selling this off on ebay!

OMFG Screen went dead...

So i just finally got my kaiser today... and had just charged it up, played with it for a few minutes then decided to take the gps for test drive... so i run gps quickfix, then run tomtom and all is well... however about 20 minutes in to my test run the touch screen stopped working... so i hard reset and still no touch.... i even tried some of the tricks from the TyTn's screen alignment issue(business card around the edge, etc), and still nothing... I also tried to reflash the htc rom on here..
anyone else have this issue?
Wow man that SUCKS ASS!! I have not had any issues with the touch except maybe for it being slow to respond to taps some times. I have noticed that this all though seems well built the Kaiser is not. the USB/charger port is crappy compaired to the Hermes and the first Kaiser i got had a broken scroll wheel it almost seems like they rushed these out the door. You ordered yours right so its probably going to be a pain to ship back to get a replacement. I feel bad man! Sounds like your digitizer died or came loose ****ty part is you cant check cuz you void the warrenty

I think my post was to see exactly how many people have had issues with theirs, oh well, back to my tytn for now
I feel for you man, I haven't read a single post about a dead touch, lucky you. Frankly that's my normal luck with a brand new toy (quietly knocking wood).

Yeah, i havent heard of to many major problems.. Oh well, i did exchange communication with richard and he asked me to ship it back to them and they would replace it... Im very happy with that, if i send this thing to HTC (if i even can yet) then it would take forever... I for one and extremely satisfied with richard and this joint venture for the xda store... its amazing!
A coworker of mine had the same issue with a new 8525 a few months ago. Everything worked fine for about a day, then all of a sudden the touch screen just stopped working.
That is a total bummer. I feel for you.
sorry
Sorry to hear about that mate, that really sucks eapecially when you waited so long to play

Oh, no! Another Fuze DOA...

I just got off the phone with AT&T support. For the past 30 days, all the phones in the house (Fuze, iPhone 3G and Samsung) have been having missed called, dropped calls, no dial tone, etc. The tech person asked me to take the battery and SIM card out of the Fuze, wait 30 seconds, and put it back together--something I've done dozens of times thanks to the neat stuff I learn on the ROM forum. Only this time went I put everything back...NOTHING! I can't get the Fuze to start up at all. They're telling me to return it for warranty replacement.
This is the second Fuze I've had to replace under warranty in the first 9 months of my contract. Of course this time I can't reinstall the original ROM and radio before I send it back, 'cause I can't even start it up. Dang it! It took me weeks to tune everything just the way I like it. Now I have to start over.
Just venting, thanks.

Dude, I'm going to give you some advice here that you may want to consider. I originally had a tilt, well the tilt "malfunctioned" on me three times and had to be serviced each time at their service center. Well the woman who I spoke to at AT&T, told me that there is a policy, but you have to request it, but if you have to have your phone serviced/replaced three times in a consecutive 12 month period that you can ask for a different device, I told her I wasn't convinced of the quality of the product. Well when you do this they have to offer you a comprable device to the device you are replacing. The reason why I mention this to you is because the Tilt 2, touch Pro 2 for AT&T, whatever you want to call it is being released sometime in october. You may want toask if your device can be exchanged for this. This is how I got my Fuze for free.
They'll give you a comparable device, not an upgrade. Although I was at the AT&T store yesterday looking at some of the current phones and nothing really came close to the Fuze. I didn't see the Samsung Epix (WM6.1 Pro) there or the Samsung Jack (WM6.1 Smartphone).
Supposedly Samsung is coming out with another 'Blackjack' like phone with a full frontal QWERTY. Supposedly it is the upgrade to the Samsung Epix. I forget the name. Supposed to be released with WM6.5 early October (oct 6th?).
I dunno. I've actually swapped phones but they are a real stickler. I would ask which phones would be available for swapping with... say you want to research them and call back. Then perhaps try to find a nice rep to do the transaction. The CS rep makes all the difference.
Sucks the phone died btw. I need to get mine replaced because my screen somehow gathered moisture under the screen or something. Looks like an oil slick when viewed from certain angles. Outside it makes the screen almost unreadable.
Actually they will offer you the new device, just need to play your cards right. Confirmed with my friend who is an AT&T sales rep.

at&t flavor of TP2 will be out in October and Diamond2 sometime later, before year end...
hmmm well maybe I should get the ball rolling on replacing mine (since it needs it) and just pray my other ones are funky. Although I don't know of any device I'd rather have. The TP2 perhaps but from what I've seen I don't like the looks. Might change when I get my hands on one.

Actually, this happened to my phone too. It isn't moisture. It is the layers of the screen coming apart. It will eventually spread to your whole screen and the screen will become non-responsive. I found google links discussing it. They replaced mine for free.

HTC Sensation Screen replacement

Hey guys, New to the HTC sensation threads (its my Girlfriends phone)
Got her this phone about 6 months ago - 1 week after having it she dropped it and broke the digitizer anyway i got that fixed at my local phone shop with aftermarket digitizer - it worked well but you could tell it was not genuine.
anyway the other week i dropped it and broke the lcd screen yet the digitizer is fine and the phone is still 100% useable - except the display looks awful.
Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, is it worth fixing myself or taking it to the phone shop - Im embarrassed to go back and explain how it has broke again lol.... But i need to get it fixed, Im so close to having my wang removed by my girlfriend.
I was wondering whether or not HTC themselves would repair it ? and maybe replace the digitizer too, I dont mind paying the extra £££ for genuine parts and to be fixed by genuine HTC repairmen..
Any ideas how i can get out this mess ??
sorry for the long post.
Thanks
Off course HTC will repair it, but it'll take longer and probably charge you a lot more than what you can it fixed for.
Out of curiosity do you/your girl not put the phone in a case or something?

Haha, no i did not.. But as soon as i get it fixed im gunna invest in a bulletproof / bombproof carbon kevlar box and keep it locked inside it !!!
Was it bought through a carrier or sim free? Could always take it to your carrier and see what they suggest, although they're not normally the cheapest, but at least it should get done properly.
Yeah i got it through vodafone, I think i will give them a call and see what they say.
I was considering taking out insurance, then in a few days call them and tell them its broken, This is risky.... what do you think the odds are with me getting away with it ?
Do you think they would notice the aftermarket digitizer ? It is an exact replica with HTC on it....
these damn phones are so fragile.... I miss the old nokias
EDIT: Seen this and am tempted to get it and fix it myself..... http://www.lingosbox.com/product_info.php?language=en&currency=GBP&products_id=4769

No, you won't get away with it, and it's dishonest, anyway. Don't make yourself a criminal over a cell phone.
Now, that being said, check Ebay. There are lots of vendors in the UK and elsewhere (lots here in the US) that sell replacement screen kits, many of which include instructions and tools.
If you're handy with small tools and careful, you can do this yourself for a fraction of what it will cost you to have it done. I learned this when my kid's iPod battery died some years ago. They're not user replaceable, and Apple wanted some outrageous amount to do it, plus you had to send it away. I found a guy on line that sold batteries with tools and directions, and in 20 minutes, she was good as new.
Pays to do it yourself.

I totally agree with you !! i do not want to result to fraudulent behaviour... BUT, i dont want to pay approx £80 for parts and make the whole situation worse by possibly making more damage.
BUT i also dont want to pay approx £150 - £200 thinking i could of fixed it for much less by doing it myself.
I am good with stuff like that and am very gentle and careful..... but i dont believe in myself lol
I recently replaced mine. Its not too terribly hard to do. But you have to get it just right. Currently the digitizer is a bit slow and unresponsive at time but I think i didnt get it in there completely right. So I'm going to dissaimble is again today and get it suck in better and see of that helps

Since the Sensation screen is made by two different manufactures is it possible to mix and match them or do you have to replace the screen with the same one with phone came with? I have a Sensation that needs a LCD that I have not taken apart yet. Im wanting to get the better screen but im not sure if I can just put the better screen in it if thats not what it came with in the first place.

Well it's much better to replace it with the same display just to be sure it's going to work. There's also a side by side comparison of the Sharp and Acer (AUO) displays
That said, you can check what panel you have using the instructions on this thread:

The display on my phone is completely destroyed so I cant use terminal emulator to look it up :-(
EDIT: I was doing some research on the part numbers on the back of my screen and I found this thread...

Post #8 has my same part number as mine (74h02057-00M) listed and in the same sentence AUO. So I have to assume it had the AUO screen which kinda sucks.

Ill let you all know how it turns out....
Well I got the screen and digitizer from the link above today. Installed it and its perfectly fine. No lag anywhere, registers touch like the stock one did. The LCD panel seems to be the same quality as the AUO panel but thats fine with me since im pretty sure this phone came with the AUO from the factory. If you do decide to replace your screen and digitizer i suggest getting them as separate pieces. Having them attached to each other made it sorta difficult to get back together cleanly.

well the day after i got it fixed i knocked it off the side onto tiled flooring, it cracked the lcd but not the digitizer... so weird lol
anyway since then i have had some signal issues with my provider, they have established that the handset is faulty, they are collecting it to repair it.
I still havent had the screen fixed so im just going to see what happens when they go to repair it, Maybe they will think they broke the screen and fix it before returning it to me. Or maybe they wont.... if thats the case i will argue with them that it was fine before they took it away from me
after all, they must have 100's of these phones in boxes gathering dust in their warehouse(s) so a little arguing and im sure i will get it fixed / replaced.

[Q] Bringing Charge in for service

SHORT STORY (can be omitted skip to questions):
Well I'm at the point of getting ready to take the charge in for service. It seems I have a termination problem on the main board. My phone shuts off randomly not ROM related but actual hardware (if i bump it it turns off). My battery and phone contacts are clean and making solid contact with each other as well. This brings me to my next observatory task of opening the phone. While I was open in the phone I noticed there was 4 cracks on my chrome rim (probably due to the 10ft drop to solid concrete, just a after thought). So there was no way to take it apart without fully destroying the rim. Which was upsetting because i was looking forward to seeing the beast and trying to solder it back together and\or look into a intuitive\ revolutionary (as apple would put it) way to fix the backlights brightness. Kinda all bummed out and stuff I tried to put the screws back and who would have thunk you had to shrink ray your hands so you could hold the screws. Well trying it with all fat chode like fingers I screw managed to slip from my grasp. It bounce on my hard floor a couple times, followed by that awkward silence where you know should have been a bounce and your still waiting to hear it, but nothing. O.0 So now I am missing a screw...
To the point questions\ concerns:
1. Can I bring this to tech support to ultimately get a refurb (huh), with out a screw? Or do I have to take my sammy Rogue (yea that "feature" phone) apart and steal one of it's screw and paint it black (there is a little difference in the screw probably will strip the phone).
2. Beside the obvious return to stock and PIT blah blah blah. Is there anything I need to do? Like trim my memory card b\c of the folders that say ROMS,KERNELS,MODs, etc... I don't plan on giving the card to them unless they ask for it.
3. I should probably mention, that the battery is starting to get so hot i cant hold it sometimes. and have to take it out and find some kind of heat sink to cool it. This has happened mainly when charging but has happened when idling and on stand by too.
4. should I call them or take it in? Which would prove better results in getting a refurbished or new phone? (either way I don't expect much from these sexist bastards that can't appreciate a good looking male, seems like you need to have some boobs and a nice ass to get new phones from VW)
5. chances in switching phones? I love the charge. (even though there aren't many roms\tweaks, the developers that have past through have been outstanding, even when some of them didn't have a charge) I don't love the fact I paid full released price and 2 weeks later it is $200 cheaper and they pretty much decided they don't love us (although GB and talk of ics is nice) I'm sure verizon very much wants to abort the charge.
Call verizon. Explain to them your situation. Let them know your phone is constantly rebooting. You've tried checking battery, hard reseting device, and everything else you could think of. Ask for a warranty replacement as you were given a defective device.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
Are you out of your 1 year manufactures warranty?
and as for question 4 i would just call...forget takin it in..just tell them you dont have the time..they should send one if your still within your 1 years manufacture warranty that is...
You just call Verizon and give them a reason where they can't help to fix over the phone, they will give you a replacement. In my case, I think something wrong with my phone cause it drain battery like crazy and I just want another one. I told them the screen is not respond to my touch anymore. I have to hit 4/5 times before it registered. That's it I got a new one.
I believe it still is within the manufactures first year. I got it just before we lost unlimited data. I guess I will call them then.

Yeah for sure..Call ASAP before you get the update with the diagnostic tool.. Then they can say no there is nothing wrong on their end and not send you one. Just call and complain about the phone rebooting randomly (and cant create the problem, it just happens) and that you want them to send you another cause you didnt pay $$$ for a device to do this blah blah blah... then say you tired factory wipe and everything and your fed up and want a replacement...shouldnt be a problem at all...and again if they say go to the store tell them to PISS OFF you dont have the time for that..let us kno how it turns out

lol..call in to Verizon (611) and tell them that you (your name) need to added to the account and create a password for the account..i am not the primary account holder on my ****, my mom is. So I had my name put on the account and had a password created so now reps ask for the pass i give it to them and we move on to the problem...
EDIT:if they still give you a problem about adding a name then have the primary caller call 611 and tell them to add your name so you dont have to go thru stuff like this..

Lol for me my dad is the account holder but he doesn't know how to do anything so I am the account manager. On their website it says that the account manager has full access to the account, so you could just log into the primary's My Verizon and make yourself a manager.

While I was open in the phone I noticed there was 4 cracks on my chrome rim (probably due to the 10ft drop to solid concrete, just a after thought). So there was no way to take it apart without fully destroying the rim....So now I am missing a screw...

So, you dropped your phone on concrete with enough force to damage the internals (which I'm guessing is the cause of all the problems), disassembled it and lost a screw in the process, and now you want to try and get a replacement under warranty due to manufacturer's defect?
Good luck. Just don't be surprised when they back charge you for the cost of the device when they realize you've exchanged a phone you've destroyed. You've voided the warranty several times over so they've got plenty of cause to hit you with an out of warranty fee.
Oh my..

Ha.. I did that once. I kicked the grapefruit juice out of my box they sent my phone to me in and so I was like, why did you send me a busted up box with a phone that doesn't work?? They were very polite about the exchange (of course, this was only like the third day I'd had it). I went to church after so I think it all evens out.

Lol, my friend got an old out of warranty second hand PS2 replaced by writing to Sony and pretending to be a very upset 12 year old. These things do work sometimes

I dropped my phone maybe 6 months ago, no apparent damage (internal or external) phone still worked great. At the time of the drop the phone was in a case. I'm not really sure how those cracks got on the outside of my phone but my screen is in perfect condition.. I never even disassembled any of it I got all the screws out and saw that if i tried to take it apart further i would have bigger problems, so I put back the screws and one fell out of my hands. I also found the screw, which managed to bounce onto a shelf of my bookshelf. So my charge works, just has a loose connection somewhere. Not surprising seeing how I work a construction job. The phone doesn't look that bad at all it looks barely beat up, besides the small cracks in the rim which you wouldn't know unless you really studied it. There should be no reason to back charge me anything.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it at all since there's no major damage on the outside of the device...you should be fine

People complain about the cost of everything going up, and this is precisely the reason why insurance and other services go up in price. The replacement devices aren't free, and the cost of replacement has to be made up somehow. Congratulations for feeling good about dicking over the honest people in society.

Hey, I don't condone it and it's nothing I've done myself, but people that rationalize that kind of behavior don't understand the harm of it probably. Kind of like SUV drivers that complain when gas prices go up...

Right on the money. People blame the companies over rising prices but they don't realize that profits stay about the same. Kind of like what is driving up medical costs... Frivolous lawsuits by butthurt idiots.

I don't mind using my warranty, I paid for because I knew my phone would break all my phones, except my samsung phones, stopped working before i even put them through the rigorous days on a construction job. I rather spend the down payment on it than having to buy a new phone full price. I've been dicked by verizon (ex. buying replacement phones a couple months after getting a paid replacement) though so i don't feel bad getting a new device for free.
i don't deny people getting phones for free just to get new ones is wrong and screws over the honest people, but verizon in my eyes, while being a loyal customer for about a decade or so, hasn't been really that honest of a company. Like the whole data plan needed phones. My mom and sister both had the same phone, one need a data the other didn't (due to the timing of when they got the phones)... All the phone had was verizons "mobile web" on EVDO pretty usless itself. But the data plan was forced upon one of them for profit gainsb(data was even blocked on our account at the time). This doesn't even include the trying to charge to transfer contacts and bs fee's fee's. If Big Red didn't have all the members and didn't get the best signal in my area i'd be on a different carrier.
