cingular just massing my day\how to fry ur device?

So im with cingular for 7 yrs now. My bill is around 200 plus a month. I got the tilt and prior to that I had the treo and prior to that any other smart phone\expensive\looked complicated device that they had... (What can I do...im a sucker for gadgets like must of us)?
So my Kaiser is so geared up rite now had the l26 6.1 rom on it the whole thing was set up I mean seriously nirvana. Well besides not being able to run some hybrid apps on it but then again I was happy with my Kaiser.
Then the screen went of seems like it just broke. I mean no joke I wasn’t even touching the phone. I guess it vibrated and just I dono...1 in a mil type of accident(my whole house is carpet to carpet I mean no chance it fell to the ground and got hit..) so im taking these device of mine which I nurse better then I nurse my self to cingular..and those bustards tells me it wont be under warranty and that ill need to buy a new one.(and of course that the sound that the device make with the keypad isn’t normal and did I tweaked the device gee u guys are pretty smart up there huh??? ) well anyways they cant see that I dont have the original rom cuz the screen isn’t working... but I figured if warranty will send me a new phone they will charge me full price( well that was the solution of the guy at the cingular store),.
I guess I nid to fry the device...how do I do that...? Microwave??
neways guys if any of u got a way to fry or terminate the device to the point of it no going on at all and not showing light in the screen or that the screen broken plz plz let me know. I would hate to shall another 500$ for those assholes..

Just buy a replacement LCD and repair it yourself....

I had may screen crack when it was in my pocket. I didn't touch it and it shouldn’t have broken. It cracked in a weird way. There was a visible crack but the LCD part didn't leak all over the place. I could see the screen just fine the only thing that did not function was the ability to use the touch screen. I called ATT and spoke with the agent who told me it was not under warranty because it was cracked. I insisted that it was a defect in the device because I had not done anything to it (I suspect it was the tempter change from the warm car to the cold) they should replace it. I asked to speak with a manager (escalation department) and again explained the situation and they he told me he would do a one time replacement and now I have a working phone. Hope that helps.

You should be able to revert back to the default rom for the tilt, to get the default sliding sound back, if that is what they are using to say you are not under warranty. You should be able to do this without needing to see the screen if you do it using activesync.

Yes it was a refurbished one but it is a lot better then a broken one

he can still go into bootloader mode and fix it. Flash the WM6 Radio, then flash the factory WM6 ROM. Doesnt matter if you can see the screen or not.
And to be honest. The last tilt i had to send in was running WM6.1, and they sent me a brand new one, without even question me. I was shocked.

I hear what you're saying - I had a problem with my (now defunct) MDA Vario - I installed Tom Tom 6 on it but it was totally useless as you couldn't see the damn thing if there was even a hint of sun coming into the car. Utterly useless.

Know what you mean. It is a backlight problem.

i fear that it is not the backlight problem. i had my backlight on at the highest level and it still was unreadable. its a shame cause i really like the phone. miss touch phones already but i just could not deal with staring at a blank smudged screen.....im holding out for the htc touch to save me form going back to nokia n95 8gb...using an old nokia 3310 at the moment

I've been playing with my new LG KS20 today and the difference in screen brightness is incredible.

I don't agree with the statement about seeing the screen outside. I used to have the backlight on low to save battery power and yes, it was difficult tro read outside. Now I have it on about 3/4 and it's absolutely fine - even on really bright days like today. I haven't noticed any dent in the battery life either.
Oh And By The Way, I Like To Type In Title Case Too.

the problem is yours I have two friends both on orbits and they are very happy with them no problems OK they run the backlight on NORMAL because thats how they are supposed to be used, but if your draining the battery by playing silly games / music thats your problem

Just bad luck? 2 Sensations, 3 days.

Hi all! New poster here, old reader
I've just gone thru my second Sensation now (in 3 days), had 2 DOA's in a row. The first had the blue light "leakage" down at the home button and the headphone jack was defect. The other one had a battery cover that did'nt quite fit, the screen would creek and move some when you pressed it, the volume rocker was loose and it had touch issues.
I'm VERY dissapointed with the original Sensation and I've never used a DOA before this phone my entire life and now 2 in a row.
Now I got a gift card with the money instead, since I don't dare to pick up my third Sensation from the same store (the first 2 had the same manfacturing date on the battery cover) so now I'm not sure what to do?
Are there any "perfect" Sensations out there? Did HTC do a sloppy job on these phones (always had HTC smartphones before, and no major issues). This can't just be bad luck or can it?

I've had mine since June or so and I haven't had any problems with it. No real Wifi death grip, no loose back cover, nothing.

Get one from a different store.
All manufacturers are having quality issues, or at least we're hearing about them more.
The more "trouble" consumers cause shops by returning faulty phones the more pressure will be put on the factories to improve.
Persevere, the Sensation is a top of the range phone

I bought mine since June and it doesn't have any problems too. All working great. I suppose its just bad luck for you.

Ok, seems (so far) that I've had bad luck. I REALLY hope thats the issue, cause I REALLY love the phone, the design, the hardware etc. But I just can not pay all that money for a premium phone that ain't.... well premium
I took the gift card for the sole reason to try and buy the phone at another store, maybe it was a faulty batch or something, who knows. But two phones in a row, with the same production date (which I can't really remember right now june fifth China I believe, have to check when I get home) wich are both faulty has really made me think twice.
So the news you guys bring so far is really good news to me!

Hopefully, the next replacement you get is a perfect one! It's really an awesome phone and it's kinda sad to get missed out due to some defects. ):

Mine has a bit of play in the cover but that's just how it is so doesn't bother me.

Mines is good so far.... Maybe that store is selling fakes?

Nah, no fakes. It's one of our largest/most spread stores here in Sweden (deals with phones, computers, TV's etc etc).
The thing is. I'm really NO "sitting under the magnifying glas looking for dead pixels" kindof guy, so these phones really was faulty.
According to the replies of this thread though it really seems like bad luck. I will try to buy another one, in a diffrent store (well not by name but location atleast) and see if I get a normal working HTC premium sensation!

What they are actually doing is giving you reconditioned or refurbished phones.These are cheaper for them and are usually ones that have had faults i.e firmware flash failures,broken screens etc.Demand a BRAND NEW DEVICE as they have to provide you with a new fully working phone when you get it.If you are in the UK we have trading standards that you could contact to start a complaint if they refuse you a new device

Ask to try out the replacement in the shop to give it a good going over to make sure there are no obvious faults

I've had mine since June as well. I get nothing but compliments on it and honestly, its the best phone I've ever had. I must agree with everyone else when I say buy another one. I'm sure like everyone else, you will be happy too.

Just got my third Sesnsation (since thursday) a few hours ago. So far it's just perfect! Sweet! I has NONE of the flaws my 2 previous devices had.
Just to makr sure I got one from another batch this time I got a newer serial number, made in Taiwan instead of China. So far so good!
It pays of to be a whiny ol' customer sometimes

Absolutely, the more legitimate trouble customers cause by returning faulty goods, the more the stores will put pressure on the manufacturers to improve their quality

Mine has a dead pixel but im reluctant to get anbother in case it has more problems, like my mate having 1 million (exagerated) Desires that were faulty.1 pixel i can deal with and i think ill wait till i get a few more scratches on this beauty before i demand a new one

The second has terrible call quality and keeps dropping calls. the wifi also keeps dropping out. one minute I have four bars and the next I have nothing. it's like the "death grip" problem but still does it even if i'm not touching the phone. Also have the back cover problem and the screen freezing problem. I love the phone but it's the phone part thats always faulty, it is by far the worst reception I have had on a phone. Oh and just checked mine and it was made in Taiwan.

Time to start asking O2 for compensation along with a replacement phone, they're normally good at giving credits to customer's accounts. I got £15 once just by making the woman in the call centre laugh

HTC Sensation Screen replacement

Hey guys, New to the HTC sensation threads (its my Girlfriends phone)
Got her this phone about 6 months ago - 1 week after having it she dropped it and broke the digitizer anyway i got that fixed at my local phone shop with aftermarket digitizer - it worked well but you could tell it was not genuine.
anyway the other week i dropped it and broke the lcd screen yet the digitizer is fine and the phone is still 100% useable - except the display looks awful.
Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, is it worth fixing myself or taking it to the phone shop - Im embarrassed to go back and explain how it has broke again lol.... But i need to get it fixed, Im so close to having my wang removed by my girlfriend.
I was wondering whether or not HTC themselves would repair it ? and maybe replace the digitizer too, I dont mind paying the extra £££ for genuine parts and to be fixed by genuine HTC repairmen..
Any ideas how i can get out this mess ??

Off course HTC will repair it, but it'll take longer and probably charge you a lot more than what you can it fixed for.

Haha, no i did not.. But as soon as i get it fixed im gunna invest in a bulletproof / bombproof carbon kevlar box and keep it locked inside it !!!

Was it bought through a carrier or sim free? Could always take it to your carrier and see what they suggest, although they're not normally the cheapest, but at least it should get done properly.

No, you won't get away with it, and it's dishonest, anyway. Don't make yourself a criminal over a cell phone.
Now, that being said, check Ebay. There are lots of vendors in the UK and elsewhere (lots here in the US) that sell replacement screen kits, many of which include instructions and tools.
If you're handy with small tools and careful, you can do this yourself for a fraction of what it will cost you to have it done. I learned this when my kid's iPod battery died some years ago. They're not user replaceable, and Apple wanted some outrageous amount to do it, plus you had to send it away. I found a guy on line that sold batteries with tools and directions, and in 20 minutes, she was good as new.
Pays to do it yourself.

I totally agree with you !! i do not want to result to fraudulent behaviour... BUT, i dont want to pay approx £80 for parts and make the whole situation worse by possibly making more damage.
BUT i also dont want to pay approx £150 - £200 thinking i could of fixed it for much less by doing it myself.
I am good with stuff like that and am very gentle and careful..... but i dont believe in myself lol

I recently replaced mine. Its not too terribly hard to do. But you have to get it just right. Currently the digitizer is a bit slow and unresponsive at time but I think i didnt get it in there completely right. So I'm going to dissaimble is again today and get it suck in better and see of that helps

Since the Sensation screen is made by two different manufactures is it possible to mix and match them or do you have to replace the screen with the same one with phone came with? I have a Sensation that needs a LCD that I have not taken apart yet. Im wanting to get the better screen but im not sure if I can just put the better screen in it if thats not what it came with in the first place.

Well it's much better to replace it with the same display just to be sure it's going to work. There's also a side by side comparison of the Sharp and Acer (AUO) displays

The display on my phone is completely destroyed so I cant use terminal emulator to look it up :-(
EDIT: I was doing some research on the part numbers on the back of my screen and I found this thread...

Post #8 has my same part number as mine (74h02057-00M) listed and in the same sentence AUO. So I have to assume it had the AUO screen which kinda sucks.

If somehow you can get it to get recognized by adb, you can issue the dmesg from there by using 'adb shell dmesg'

I dont even have a battery for it at the moment. When the battery arrives ill check it out. I have a feeling im not going to be able to get ADB working though.

Well I got the screen and digitizer from the link above today. Installed it and its perfectly fine. No lag anywhere, registers touch like the stock one did. The LCD panel seems to be the same quality as the AUO panel but thats fine with me since im pretty sure this phone came with the AUO from the factory. If you do decide to replace your screen and digitizer i suggest getting them as separate pieces. Having them attached to each other made it sorta difficult to get back together cleanly.

You must of dropped that phone from ten stories lol.. I rarely seen any lcd screen break or crack on the sensation. Being its made from aluminum and the screen is Gorilla Glass.. its tough stuff.. but sorry to hear that

well the day after i got it fixed i knocked it off the side onto tiled flooring, it cracked the lcd but not the digitizer... so weird lol
anyway since then i have had some signal issues with my provider, they have established that the handset is faulty, they are collecting it to repair it.
I still havent had the screen fixed so im just going to see what happens when they go to repair it, Maybe they will think they broke the screen and fix it before returning it to me. Or maybe they wont.... if thats the case i will argue with them that it was fine before they took it away from me
after all, they must have 100's of these phones in boxes gathering dust in their warehouse(s) so a little arguing and im sure i will get it fixed / replaced.

Lol yeah I bet they do..but most of the insurance phones you get after your device breaks are refurbished. Cheap beat up and abused.. then recycled.. lol that sounded like a lifetime channel movie. Well I hope your back up and running again..and how'd that tile doing? Cheers mate

Broken screen....

OKay so I broke my outter screen a few weeks ago and it finally got so bad i decided it was time to replace it. Im a pretty handy guy so I looked up on ebay and seen the replacement screen was only like $10.00. Not bad at all so I called a phone store to see how much for them to do the replacement..... One store wanted 160$ I was like ohh heck NO soo being a contractor remodeling houses and being such a handyman I thought I would just do it myself! Well I ordered the screen and waited patiently for it to arrive. Well last night it finally came in the mail..... OH YEAH... Well make a long story short my phone is screwed!!!! Everything went fine (so i thought) till i put the battery in and turned it on AND NOTHHING !!! My screen is black out!!!! Worst experience ever.... I cant stand being without my phone! Moral of this story I guess THANK GOD FOR PHONE INSURANCE!!!! I never put insurance on any of my phones till I got the Galaxy S3 and Im glad I did! If your screen is crack and you think its looks so easy watching someone on youtube do it. You got another thing coming buddy.... Take it to a PRO or you better have INSURANCE !!!!! THANK GOD BOOST HAS GOOD INSURANCE!!! LOST/STOLEN/DAMAGED Im still waiting for my claim to be approved but its my first ever so Im pretty sure I OK... GET INSURANCE ON YOUR PHONE!!!! or you will be screwed. :crying:

Did you follow a guide and order from a trusted vendor? Most devices have screen replacement guides online and are usually pretty easy.

Happy for you bro, but wait for result sometimes they are pretty greedy and won't pay any claim

I recently had to replace screen glass on my SGS3 and I have a similar background to you so I think the same thing, I got this...
The written guide that came with my replacement glass made no sense.
Then I found on XDA somewhere a link to this guy on youtube and with a video and it went pretty smooth.
Guess I got lucky, sounds like you may have damaged the digitizer under the glass.
I also watched his other video about all the ways it could go wrong first.
Probably won't help you but might help the next guy.
