My Advice about the people like HTC Cube (SPB Shell 2) - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

hi guys,
i'm here to show the newest software supporting very nice cube for us which is SPB Shell 2
check youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwpU2OEVQmo
it will be available very soon (trial version can be downloaded from here)

nice ware

that is the coolest software i have seen yet....

how i have to configure the menu to get it look like the cube from the video deonstration ??
and i can´t open the task switcher you can see in the video (2:43)

How long can i test the Trail? There are any Nag Screens?

pretty neat I admit... however drains battery quite alot I noticed while listening to mp3's all day at work today... I uninstalled it... normally at end of day I have 30-40% on battery and today while having spb shell installed i only had 19% battery life before i left work.

Nice i go test it.
Thanks

Performance on Wizard?
It really looks slick, but I wonder what performance issues we will have on the Wizard. Of course he may have told me but I didn't have audio. Actually I'll watch and wait this time. I have tried the PointUI and iPhone look-a-like. They are nice too but are still missing somethings that kept me coming back to the tired ole today screen. I'm happy for the time being with IR's newest TNT. Great work it's right!

I am overclocked to 240, and the spb shell 2 works WONDERFULLY!
I had the cube, and have uninstalled it.
This > anything I have tried.
I would even wager it is better than the iphone's interface.

I don't know if I'd personally make that EXACT wager, BUT...
This truly is one of THE BEST ui replacements for our devices to come along in a while. Unless the PointUI guys can step up to the plate this is going to stay installed for quite a while.

it has way more useful things than the ipharce, and has them plainly organized. The thing that makes it better to me is the ability to easily switch from the touchy-feely menu to the classic windows mobile look in one touch.

SPB Shell Working smooth
ADMIN EDIT: Warez is not allowed on this forum, link has been removed.

Do you still use Touchflo 3d?

After I spent a day without Touchflo I'm never using it again. Yes its pretty but my life is so much easier without all the touching and flowing. I cant believe I'm going to say this but the regular windows mobile start screen kicks ass. Date, time, my appointments and screen lock is all I need. Performance wise every app runs so much faster its like a totally different phone. If you havent tried using your fuze without touchflo I suggest you give it a try.
What do you think fellow XDAers?
edit: something I just noticed is that if you lock your device, it can be unlocked automatically by removing the stylus.
hmm
Here is my dilema . With touch flow disabled the phone is a lot faster for me but it takes more effert to do something like use the camera in a snap. The touch flow interface is much easier to do things like use the camera with only one hand.
I did, and it wasn't bad but windows mobile just aint purty. I've tried the Bell UI which runs tons faster, but I didn't like that there were a few things that didn't work. There's also the point ui, which runs faster too
Try SPB Mobile Shell, it's a very nice replacement.
I just go to the start menu and press camera. As apposed to scrolling to Programs tab or Pictures tab waiting for the icons to load (yes I know it takes less than a second but when you're doing something it feels like forever) and then pressing camera. With touchflo disabled the camera app opens faster anyway.

Im not looking for suggestions I just wanted to know how other people felt about touchflo's performance.
I don't use it.. I think it was just HTCs answer to the iPhone crowd
if you want to get to aps and things fast i suggest using ifonz 1.1.2, you can map the camera to an icon right in the bottom bar i use it on my x51v and am getting my fuze tonight and i plan on that being the first program that i install on it
Haha, I just started using TouchFlo3D.
Ater I bought it I immediately disabled TouchFlo, but a couple of weeks ago I started to use it a bit. (for now)
I like a lot of the TouchFLO, but why MS took off the PIM aspect of the phone is beyond me. It doesn't do me any good to only see 1 appointment and no tasks easily. It seems like more of an oversight on their part, but until they get it working that I can see appointments and tasks, TFLO is not gonna be used again.

Cant you just add them back to the today menu? My fuze shows tasks and appointments as a seperate line on the today screen.
I still use it and have no intention to turn it off. With all these custom ROMs out here, tf3d is pretty fast.
I like HTC Home better...maybe I am just so use to it considering I had my TyTN II for so long and just got a Fuze.
Hmmm...wonder if HTC Home 2.1 will work with the Touch Pro...
Yep, still using it. Although I installed the black flip clock version. After tweaking it, it's very responsive.
i use it touchflo on and off i really like touchflo so everytime i disable it i end up re-enabling it lol.....
but custom roms make it alot faster...
the rom im using now is really fast but still has plenty functionality!
and yes this is my 6th rom and loving it!!
i just hope it stays stable..
i love it... its not slow at all. im running NATF 2.3.

To each his own.... but... EWWW!
IMHO, you just can't beat AT&T's M3D theme. I think it's such a well-balanced, smooth, thoroughly-designed theme, that everything else just looks amateur in comparison. That's just me thou.
I never said Touchflo was slow or unresponsive but I found my fuze more productive with it disabled. Apps load up faster which is the biggest plus in my book. I open up emails and word docs throughout the day and every bit of speed I get helps me get through the day with less frustration.
I'll disable it on the weekdays when I have work and enable it during weekend so that when I go to bars, I can show off to my Iphony friends.

SPB mobile shell 5.0 beta

I have it working on my Droid x its awesome. But some apps that came with it don't work. Other than that the 3d ui looks great. Runs great. Is anyone else using this app? If so what do you think of it?
This has been labeled as warez in xda since it's a leaked beta. But I suppose people can talk about it as long they don't share the apk file..
I've played with it for a while but because I can't choose the default phone and browser app, I stopped playing with it. Also eats lots of ram.

Yeah i like the look of SPB more than Honeycomb. I hope its doesn't get bought by RIM like they did to TAT.
Its faster than ADW EX for me.

I really doubt that's going to happen. SPB is a big company from what I understand (google them).
---
Anyways, I did try it out, but had to remove it since I kept getting unending "Activating..." and reloading.
But my impressions while I did use it were:
3D look very cool. But not especially useful.
Instant tap and click widgets very useful and great idea.
Lack of app drawer is undesirable.
It has some cool stuff, but isn't anything "groundbreaking" imo. SPB charged consumers about $30 for this on WM and Symbian I believe, doing the same on Android would be quite insane (considering it doesn't add any huge benefits like it did for those OS). I'm curious to see what they plan to charge, and it's something I could consider using as my default launcher... but nothing truly fantastic about it imo.
I used SPB at great lengths with my Windows phones. It was a resource hog, but it still ran smooth and looked awesome.
Didn't know they were actually working on Android...cool
Yep says its not compatible with my device.
works with the epic unfortunately.....

Does it say spb loading overtop of that?
It takes forever to load on my Samsung I9000, but works well once it does. Amazingly smooth and the widgets look great. Could take some getting used to though!

Thoughts on Launcher 7

Just curious to see what people think of Launcher 7, for those who've tried it. I gotta say, I put it on yesterday out of curiosity, and was surprised by how much I like it. I love Android, and balked at Launcher 7 at first because it was a completely un-Android UI, but maybe it's because I've been on Android for like 2 years now, but I find it really refreshing. I like its simplicity, efficiency, and different sleek look.
I'm curious to see how it does with battery life. I used my navigation/GPS a lot today so my battery went pretty fast, not a good test of Launcher 7. I'm running it over Synergy (lightest Sense ROM I could find) and under battery use it's not even showing up so I'm guessing/hoping it doesn't have a big effect.

Many home launchers don't use much power, i've used GO/LPP and both are normally floating around 1%. Now I used the L7 very long ago, back on my MT3GS, and it was pretty nice to have IMO, I did like the UI's feel overall. But at that time it was still buggy so I think that's why I had abandoned it. I'm a fan of eye-candy so I prefer something more flashy with fancy effects. Which is what GO gives me, it has this cool sphere effect for the app drawer.
Your biggest power drainers will be idle/standnby and Signal, and GPS.

And screen if you're running a Sense ROM. I've always wondered why on a Sense ROM Screen will be like 70% under battery use, but on AOSP only like 5%. I mean, the same screen is being used on all these ROMS right? I've asked that a couple times but never found an answer. Oh well. I'm sure it has something to do with how the ROM is utilizing things, but who knows lol.
Yeah I've been a loyal LPP user for my 3rd party launcher for a while. Love the widgets and the customizable dock. My brother runs GO on his Samsung Galaxy S and is always telling me I should try it, haven't yet but it does look very cool. I've seen pics o that globe app tray thing, looks sick. Is it smooth though?
So far Luancher 7 has been VERY smooth and seems to have minimal battery influence, like you said about 2% I think it wound up being. More than if you weren't using it, but solid nonetheless. I'm doing a lot of driving to new places this week so I'll be using my GPS a lot, it's going to be hard to get an accurate guess of average battery life but as far as function/style I am a big fan.
I will say though that the strength of launcher 7 (simplicity) might turn out to be its ultimate downfall lol. I'm enjoying it now, but it's just been a couple days. I can certainly see myself getting bored with it after a while. It's very functional but there is certainly something to be said for style and flare, and that's one thing it doesn't offer much of.
As an add-on question along with what people think of Launcher 7 in general - I'm curious to hear from any users who are using the donate version - does it offer better performance and features? Or does it just remove the ad in the app drawer? I think it adds a folder feature, which is probably worth the $1.50 in itself, but curious what else it offers.

I think i read somewhere that you can change the autobrightness and stuff of the screen and that sense has theirs up more or something, i don't remember.
But i use adw launcher ex and never see it on my battery stats, so i'm guessing that's good. And it never lags for me either, smooth as butter.

I didn't really notice a difference with the donate version when i used it other than it looks alot better without the annoying ads.
I installed Launcher 7 and used it pretty exclusively for a while.
I got to really like how the UI operated, and found it very quick. But I eventually stopped using it and uninstalled it.
The idea, for me, was to get to a LiveTiles experience, where I could see at a glance how many new emails and social postings I might like to read, upcoming appointments, etc... without having to deal with the rest of the crummy WP7 interface. So I suppose my goal is probably different than many. But I couldn't get there with Launcher 7 (no surprise, since it's built - and named - as a "launcher").
As a simple app launcher, it was decent, for my most-used apps... though the second I needed to use less-used apps, I was somewhat disappointed/frustrated trying to find and run them.
That and, while I eventually understood it wouldn't take me all the way to LiveTiles, the fact that it didn't have (at the time) a clock/date widget that looked decent within the interface (seems like a stupid thing, but actually became a necessity for me) made me opt for something else.
Haha, yep - after about 4 or 5 days, I'm off Launcher 7. It WAS very good and functional, but as I predicted I got bored pretty fast. I play with my phone too much to not have something flashier and more interactive.
Wound up trying Go Launcher Ex, and have to say - it's way better than LPP! Loving it so far!
Question if you read this: how do I get that sphere app drawer thing? Can't find it?
EDIT: NM, I realized they only come up with horizontal app drawer, I had it set on vertical.

Look in the settings of Go launcher, look through all the settings, i've ended up on LPP again b/c it has the Sense3 widget skins, and appears to be running faster for me on miui. With GO I would get many fc's and it would lag sometimes, this started on the newer versions of GO though. Sphere is the app drawer effect, look in effects, when on home screen, press menu, goto preference, and look for effects. Sphere effect is with chariot, binary, random, and the other animations.

having just recently moved from a WP7 to an Android phone Launcher 7 made me feel "back home" instantly. I like the WP7/Launcher 7 home screen with the big tiles; IMO it's a nice, fresh look compared to a large number of Android launchers or iOS. I never liked the 2nd page of the WP7 home screen - a one-column alpabetically sorted list of all installed apps? Boring and not very flexible.
I now use Go Launcher Ex and while I still like the look and feel of the Launcher 7 tiles, I do not miss it.

CHT switches question??

Hi.
Apologies if this has been asked before but I've searched for a specific answer to my problem and can't seem to find the exact answer I'm looking for.
I've had my HD2 for around 18 months and still love it, great phone. Last year I had CHT installed, one of the early versions. At some point it started to crash and cause problems etc. so I uninstalled it and forgot about it really. Anyway, I recently installed it again and after several installs and uninstalls I got version 1.7.1.2 to run with no problems. It just seems to be the most stable on my phone. I'm happy with that, it suits my needs fine. All I'm really interested in is the additional pages and quick links on the home page and the smaller clock which also displays my appointments, missed calls, weather, text etc. I'm obviously running the same version of editor side by side and I did have to update my .NET framework to 3.5 (I think).
However, there is one thing I'm missing, where has the switches gone that used to be on the original version I had. The little black and white ones for switching the Wi-Fi on, or rebooting the phone. I did find these very useful but either I'm doing something wrong or they're not on the version I have. Which seems a little strange as I'd have thought this would have been a step backwards. Or, do I have to install an additional file to have these as well? If so, could someone kindly point me to an idiots guide on how to get them please. I'm no techie but I can manage simple instructions, lol.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.
Darren.
The first switches and notifications in CHT came with version 1.8.0. Look here for the changelog.
Aaaaahhh, now that I wasn't aware of.
Many thanks for answering my question, much appreciated.
Darren.

Hi all....apologies for the late reply but I've been away working. Many thanks for your input, I'm now successfully running the latest version with no problems at all, runs brilliantly and no issues of the battery draining etc. It really does take this phone to a whole new level, absolutely fantastic!
I was due to upgrade just after Christmas but I doubt I will now. The HTC HD2 with this mod and a couple of others little tweeks still takes some beating in my eyes. It was streets ahead when it first came out and can still give a lot the newer phones a run for their money.
Thanks again to all concerned, very much appreciated.

Question CoverScreen OS vs Samsprung

Have anyone used CoverScreen OS or Samsprung in Z Flip 3? Which one do you think is better and which one is safer?
Edit : I decided to close the poll so that this thread will not be biased to one side. Let's just share the features and differences between both products and let anyone decide their own choice.

Interesting question
It's difficult to answer because they are both under development and not finished apps
I am trying both of them and both craches from time to time, but as mentioned, beta versions
Personally I prefer Samsprung, there are news every day (several times usually) and I think it's really great, and well done job
Cover OS is way out of proportions regarding price, too expensive for a none working app, and also if it's working
At any time I would go for Samsprung
Just my opinion
Both developers have done a great job! thanks to them!
I'd also go with Samsprung. Way better support, updates, more features ect. The developer is also very responsive.
Cover Os has just entered Beta status and has a price tag that is obnoxious. Yes, i understand lots or blood, tears and work has gone into it, but as it still is, half baked software, the price is out of this world. We have to pay for something that we are testing, no thanks.
i'm totally fine paying when things are up and running as should, and i encourage both developers to put a price for their work. But as of now, no.
Of course Samsprung...
Do a poll, it'll answer you...
A few weeks ago I would have said CoveScreen OS, but the SamSpring suddenly took lead and I now find it superior.
The navbar, the customizable app launcher, keyboard(!), no features behind paywall, compatibility with stock widgets, super quick and responsive developer. It's an easy choice for me.
It's all wrong, trying to compare 2 apps trying to do different things - they are both in beta and developing very fast.
We are very lucky to have 2 very talented developers making that [ex-factory useless screen] into something geniunely useful.
Try each one - for a couple of days, not for 5 minutes. Then you have to reach your own conclusion.
And don't consider pricing for the moment, only once it/they are out of beta.
Please don't make a poll, that could impact development of one of the apps.

I agree with you 100% it's not fair on anyone to choose one or the other, there was a time when the moderators would have taken down a post such as this.
In my opinion this is a valid question.
Should you pay blindly for something that might not function correctly (beta) and you cannot test fully to see if it fills your needs.
or test something that is fully free and you can test all features and if they fills your needs.
But of course, test both. one you can test fully, the other you can.

IMO since both are in development it's too early to even make a comparison. Both apps are moving very fast, so stability and functionality are not comparable. They are both moving targets at the moment
Maybe after both of their general availability, since then they are notionally stable.
If you're commenting about the subscription policy of one of them, I have tested its free version and haven't felt constrained. And there is no way that those values would fly in the Google Play universe, so I really doubt they are definitive values (time will tell, just my thoughts).
But still, once they are released and updates are incremental, why not run a poll.
Both applications interest me. I have only tried Coverscreen OS as I use Samsung Health persistently. I'm following both threads at present. Kudos to both developers

I'm brand new to this phone and kinda not impressed with it (so far)..I'm a serious gadget nerd, so the flip/fold tech played too big a part in my decision to get it..I'd watched a samsprung video before I'd bought it so did expect a lot more use of the front screen than I get at the minute...like I said I am new to it so hoping to like it more the more I get to do with it but a quick question about samsprung, can it be used on android 12 or no? I updated the phone soon as I got it, then started seeing that it can't be used with A12!? Is there a way/work around?

Both are pretty cool and somehow useful. Personally I don't use them because I don't need them and everything I'd like to have is just some more widget on the stock cover screen. However we're pretty luck to have those two developers here.
CoverScreen OS ask for way too many permissions, some really strange, i was not to ever able to run it, so yes for Samsprung
For me, the UI/UX of CoverScreen OS is better.
