Do you still use Touchflo 3d? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

After I spent a day without Touchflo I'm never using it again. Yes its pretty but my life is so much easier without all the touching and flowing. I cant believe I'm going to say this but the regular windows mobile start screen kicks ass. Date, time, my appointments and screen lock is all I need. Performance wise every app runs so much faster its like a totally different phone. If you havent tried using your fuze without touchflo I suggest you give it a try.
What do you think fellow XDAers?
edit: something I just noticed is that if you lock your device, it can be unlocked automatically by removing the stylus.

hmm
Here is my dilema . With touch flow disabled the phone is a lot faster for me but it takes more effert to do something like use the camera in a snap. The touch flow interface is much easier to do things like use the camera with only one hand.

I did, and it wasn't bad but windows mobile just aint purty. I've tried the Bell UI which runs tons faster, but I didn't like that there were a few things that didn't work. There's also the point ui, which runs faster too

Try SPB Mobile Shell, it's a very nice replacement.

I just go to the start menu and press camera. As apposed to scrolling to Programs tab or Pictures tab waiting for the icons to load (yes I know it takes less than a second but when you're doing something it feels like forever) and then pressing camera. With touchflo disabled the camera app opens faster anyway.

Im not looking for suggestions I just wanted to know how other people felt about touchflo's performance.

I don't use it.. I think it was just HTCs answer to the iPhone crowd

if you want to get to aps and things fast i suggest using ifonz 1.1.2, you can map the camera to an icon right in the bottom bar i use it on my x51v and am getting my fuze tonight and i plan on that being the first program that i install on it

Haha, I just started using TouchFlo3D.
Ater I bought it I immediately disabled TouchFlo, but a couple of weeks ago I started to use it a bit. (for now)

I like a lot of the TouchFLO, but why MS took off the PIM aspect of the phone is beyond me. It doesn't do me any good to only see 1 appointment and no tasks easily. It seems like more of an oversight on their part, but until they get it working that I can see appointments and tasks, TFLO is not gonna be used again.

Cant you just add them back to the today menu? My fuze shows tasks and appointments as a seperate line on the today screen.

I still use it and have no intention to turn it off. With all these custom ROMs out here, tf3d is pretty fast.

I like HTC Home better...maybe I am just so use to it considering I had my TyTN II for so long and just got a Fuze.
Hmmm...wonder if HTC Home 2.1 will work with the Touch Pro...

Yep, still using it. Although I installed the black flip clock version. After tweaking it, it's very responsive.

i use it touchflo on and off i really like touchflo so everytime i disable it i end up re-enabling it lol.....
but custom roms make it alot faster...
the rom im using now is really fast but still has plenty functionality!
and yes this is my 6th rom and loving it!!
i just hope it stays stable..

i love it... its not slow at all. im running NATF 2.3.

Im Still using TouchFlo .... on a Stock ROM... I know im just still to nervous to flash a new rom on it... I was like that when i was upgrading the OS on my Blackberry but now that i have done it, it was a breeze... but i love TouchFlo

To each his own.... but... EWWW!
IMHO, you just can't beat AT&T's M3D theme. I think it's such a well-balanced, smooth, thoroughly-designed theme, that everything else just looks amateur in comparison. That's just me thou.

I never said Touchflo was slow or unresponsive but I found my fuze more productive with it disabled. Apps load up faster which is the biggest plus in my book. I open up emails and word docs throughout the day and every bit of speed I get helps me get through the day with less frustration.
I'll disable it on the weekdays when I have work and enable it during weekend so that when I go to bars, I can show off to my Iphony friends.

My Advice about the people like HTC Cube (SPB Shell 2)

hi guys,
i'm here to show the newest software supporting very nice cube for us which is SPB Shell 2
check youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwpU2OEVQmo
it will be available very soon (trial version can be downloaded from here)
nice ware
that is the coolest software i have seen yet....
how i have to configure the menu to get it look like the cube from the video deonstration ??
and i canĀ“t open the task switcher you can see in the video (2:43)
How long can i test the Trail? There are any Nag Screens?
pretty neat I admit... however drains battery quite alot I noticed while listening to mp3's all day at work today... I uninstalled it... normally at end of day I have 30-40% on battery and today while having spb shell installed i only had 19% battery life before i left work.
Nice i go test it.
Thanks
Performance on Wizard?
It really looks slick, but I wonder what performance issues we will have on the Wizard. Of course he may have told me but I didn't have audio. Actually I'll watch and wait this time. I have tried the PointUI and iPhone look-a-like. They are nice too but are still missing somethings that kept me coming back to the tired ole today screen. I'm happy for the time being with IR's newest TNT. Great work it's right!
I am overclocked to 240, and the spb shell 2 works WONDERFULLY!
I had the cube, and have uninstalled it.
This > anything I have tried.
I would even wager it is better than the iphone's interface.

I don't know if I'd personally make that EXACT wager, BUT...
This truly is one of THE BEST ui replacements for our devices to come along in a while. Unless the PointUI guys can step up to the plate this is going to stay installed for quite a while.

it has way more useful things than the ipharce, and has them plainly organized. The thing that makes it better to me is the ability to easily switch from the touchy-feely menu to the classic windows mobile look in one touch.

Pre-rendering landscape switches.

I've noticed that two of my coworkers with kaisers have ROMs that prerender the landscape switch. Instead of it displaying little by little, it freezes for a second and then displays the whole thing. Can anyone tell me how this is done? I would like to incorporate it into my Herald ROM and, unfortunately, searching has been less than fruitful.
Thanks guys!

I am worry this is not by design. Kaiser official WM6.0 is known for choppy video display and it's the freeze you see w/ landscape rendering.

Easy, just put lots of background programs and take the CPU to 100% load, then you can switch to landscape mode and see this special effect.

lol. Sounds like a good plan.
the new flip rendering is because of a new .dll found in the 6.1 update and a netherlands rom that came out a few months ago.
I believe it is the only thing in the updates that had any hardware accelerated functions.
i know that dutty incorporated it into his 6.1 roms but i am not sure if there is a cab with these driver updates only.
that said, you could try just copy and pasting the dll's into a rom image and tryin it on ur herald, but that might not work for ya- or it might be bad for ur device, id unno

So What's Coming Next?

Ok here comes an innocent question, more for curiosity than anything else.
We've had Manilla and the good ole standby of HTC Home, but I'm curious as to what's coming around the corner. I have to admit that I am finally getting tired of my super ROM, and I guess I could try another Manilla ROM. But here is my hope... Is there anything coming down the pipe that is going to be new and edgy? I'm hoping so, but if not, I'll just try another ROM.
I've got my fire-retardant PJ's on and am awaiting the on-slaught of comments saying that I don't appreciate our chefs. I really do, I just am ready to change the wallpaper.

I'll jump in the barrel with ya. I love every ROM I have ever flashed but I agree - whats next? Android? Where does WM go from here.....
You guys tried either TF3D or Throttlelauncher? Both of these interfaces are pretty cool and getting better all the time...aside from that, hopefully the next new thing will be Windows Mobile 7 (crosses fingers that it will run on the kaiser)...

Yeah.....WM7 another year away maybe.....Wish I could get an HD in the US - that would give me hours of play!
Hopefully Android or windows mobile 7.
Something that would make the kaiser actually a good phone =]
Actually from what I read and if I understand correctly, WM 6.5 is first by summer of this yr than WM 7 in 2010. Also WM 6.5 is supposed to have a revamped homescreen for touchscreen devices like how 6.1 revamped it for smartphones. At least that is from what I last read unless things have changed...
im hoping for a video driver but it seems unlikely. There isn't much talk on it anymore.....
I personally would love to see a full working version of TF3D with landscape and the power issue fixed.
Can someone tell me the difference between throttle launcher and tf3d? They kind of look the same to me...

Most stable 6.5 ROM?

Hey guys, trying out a 6.5 ROM...but I am a bit trepidacious (word of the day) about trying one...any tips on a nice stable, clean one. any ideas (and reasoning behind it).

That's a CDMA ROM, so to the OP, DO NOT FLASH THIS.
I've been using the RRE WM6.5 ROM and am about to flash to v1 from RC3.
I'm about to use the new 21222 6.5 ROM. I can help you make one if you want!
I just tried RRE's ROM...and man it was l a g g y....
Plus it brought the horrible internet explorer version that just takes FOREVER to load a page and doesn't let you do anything while downloading something (I think NATF v4.4 had it, then he got rid of it)...the look was okay, but the lag was something I just can't deal with...
Reminds me of putting Touchflo2d on my Tilt...where it took a couple of seconds to register my screen taps, and forever to load an application...

Agreed!!! Shep's ROMs are amazing!
I just upgraded from RRE 6.1 to 6.5 I Love 6.5 but its still a beta thing! But so far so Good!
Tried Shepp's 6.5 ROM. Nice and clean---went back to NATF 4.5...I guess it's a taste thing...I hate the honeycomb menus, and too much scrolly finger friendly stuff for my taste...the chrome looks too simple and I've grown too fond of TF3D and Wizbar...oh well...

Its not laggy at all for me...atleast not anymore than other WM6.5 ROMs I've tried. It takes a while to boot up, but once its loaded its fine for me. I don't use TF3D though, so I can't speak for that.
what are you talking about? RRE roms are really good. no lag for me. even useing IE runs fine thats what i am useing now it takes a good 10 secs to load. i love the RRE roms i just wish he didnt put point less stuff on them lol

[Q] animation in WP7

Hello,
As many of ppl in world, got shocked by nokia announcement. But in mien case it was not positive shock. I was fan of Nokia, but i never did want to buy WP7, and since i am looking for device, it puts more complication to deciding...
WP7 is nice looking phone, and with great comfort to use. But it had 1 annoying thing, i would prefer to disable. SO, can i disable WP7 animation on home screen and other places?
Basicly, when i open mien people section, it just open without showing animation of those boxes getting of the screen....
at present no. maybe it's something you can suggest to MS on social.microsoft.com for an option, though in saying that, the animations are quite fluid and don't take any longer than without them really.
lol totaly forgot about this post i made..
In any case, maybe it wont take longer time, but those animations does make a feel, " COME ON, FASTER". And in every day, it would soom me make OS... I do belive that i am not so unique freek, that no one else feel so as well...
I'm one of them who really hate animation/transition effects on my Windows PC. I just want my command to be execute immediately without any gimmick whatsoever. I've been using WP7 for almost a month now but I never feel slightly annoyed with its animation, it's just so damn smooth

If you would like a mobile OS that has zero transitions, just ugly screen changes, then you could go pick up a windows mobile 6.5 device.

Or blackberry, or current Symbian devices.
After using WP7 for a little over a week I can say that the animations really add to the experience of WP7. I find the animations are what catch people's eyes and distinguish WP7 from other mobile OS's. They show a form of polish on the software and allow you to know when you've done something. As others have said, it truly makes the whole experience super smooth.

if it was a matter of lag between menus then there would be screen freezes during the animations. An initial load of a menu would be quicker than an animation to load. As for the apps they don't deny that they're slow to load and they're working on a fix for that issue.
Refer to : http://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/Jaime+Rodriguez/Windows-Phone-Design-Days-Animation
Animation is used for multiple reasons.
Animation is an immediate feedback to the user that the phone is 'awake' and has received the input (Touching a button ect...)
Watch the video. It will show how animations are used effectivly in order to reduce the 'stress' we feel when we are waiting for an action. It works in our benifit
youd be right if the animations were taking no longer than the time to load and i know that if u open settings it can and needs to be instant
so what i want is as fast as possible animations, someetimes instantm, sometimes slow and fluid
i will buy a wp7 phone only if it works faster
this is unacceptable
im talking about transitions
1 more i want to buy a wp7 device and is there any way to make the topbar, status bar stay active always? an app or something so can wp7 be customised as android?
mariu$ said:
and emigrating id agree with you if the animatinos were faster
if i know the music app is opened and i press it to view it from the homescreen it needs to come up fast not after 1 second of transitions.
10ms transition
i agree that its more userfriendly to see that your action has an effect and that you can slide to the left back to see another screen
but not in the detrement of speed
Click to collapse
You're still not getting it though - tapping the music app (i.e. Music + Videos) requires some loading. Getting the transition effect simply masks the loading time. If you didn't have the transition the app wouldn't appear any quicker it would just present you with a "Loading" message instead. I don't know about you, but I'd take the transition over the bland "Loading" text any day. What's happened is basically that instead of displaying a dummy "Loading, please wait..." screen you get a smooth transition instead.
As for sliding left/right to see other screens - again, it doesn't take any longer switching from page A to B using a Panorama than it does using a Pivot.
If you don't like it, stick with a different mobile OS. For me, the panorama views and instant feedback is what makes the platform so great.
Wake up please, it's 2011. Average speed of smartphone CPU is about 1GHz. Music app should open immediately. That's the case on iOS, Android even on slow as hell Windows Mobile. I'm pretty sure that on WP7 it would also open in 0,01 s, but transitions make it slower.
Jesus, just on/off switch and everyone would be happy!

I agree with what you've said here 100%. I like animations, but I don't want to wait for them. I want them to very quickly do their transition. WP7 is very smooth, but I'm always feeling like I'm waiting to get from one point to another. With one of the Android launchers, there's an option to set the speed of the transitions. Perfect. I sped it up dramatically. It's still smooth but I don't wait. The windows move as fast as I can swipe them.

I think that's a problem here. If users are attempting to argue that Android is better (Which i'm not saying you are kuttyjoe), we should be sticking to the stock OS and not a modified version. While I agree that having an option to speed up animations would be great for some users, there happen to be other problems that should be looked at first. As an example we will look at the SMS app on WP7. There should be different colors to tell the convo apart from one user to the other. I'm just using that as an example of thing to look at first before such trivial things as animation speeds.
Also after reading through this thread it's mostly nonsense fanboy arguments. If you don't support WP7 then don't bother posting in the WP7 sections. We've gone from a WP7 idea to arguing whether iOS, Andriod or the Galaxy S is better the WP7 OS.
You guys let another troll turn a simple yes or no question into another argument.

Some promise of a future is better than none. Android just had a trojan released that took advantage of a serious security flaw which could give out the IMEI number of 260,000 of it's customers. Any of those using android 2.2.1 or lower can have their IMEI number stolen, premium calls made at their expense, etc. and is google sending out a patch? Is google offering some sort of malware removal tool to save your phone. No, they cant because they're so fragmented that they'd have to magically convince all carriers to update every phone... Yeah, that's happening. No, they're sitting idly by. Everyone compares android in it's current iteration to WP7 but android doesnt have a current iteration. How many phones out there actually legitimately run 2.3? 1 or 2? How about 2.2.? Still not TOO many. If you never hacked your G1 which was pretty new 2 years ago then you're still running android 1.6. A number of other phones and tablets can have the same said for them. Android has just as many if not more shortcomings than WP7 with absolutely no promise of any of them being resolved unless you get the latest android device every time they come out (every 2 weeks or so.)

Almost all Android phones released after November 2010 are on 2.2 or higher, exception Fascinate for Verizon that just got an official leak to 2.2.
So what is your argument here?
