Hi
Problably lots of people already asked this. Believe it or not, I searched the forum and i didnt sow that many information about it. I have a mda compact customized with t-mobile software. Basacly I want to take the T-mobile Stuff out, it dosnt even let me set up a gprs account for another operator.
Any help would be thankfull
Ivo
your best bet would be to get the device unlokcke, ( see the unlock tool in the general section of the forun for the unkocl all in one tool) and then upgrade the rom with that of an imate's or qtek's
hope that helps
Jim
Hi
thanks for quick reply.
I unlocked it already. Its just the t-mob crap i want to get rid off. where about can i donload the roms ?
thanks
found the solution ...
just upgraded it with an original firmware and the no_id file
thanks for the help
Ivo
...and where can i find the original firmware and the no_id file? :?:
I would like to have my Orange m500 clean too! Only with the applications i'd like to use.
Can this only be done with installing those extendedRoms? Its very difficult for me to find a clear tutorial about this.
regards
The ext-rom brands your magician. When you want to get rid of it just
- make a backup of calendar, contacts, tasks etc.
- hard-reset
- folow initialize procedure on screen
- soft-reset as soon as you get the standard WM background & before the customizatiin (=branding) starts.
You need to do this last step after every hard-reset unless you go for BIG Storage & completely wipe-out the ext-rom & get a storage folder of 27Mb instead of 7Mb.
Instructions for BS are to be found on the forum. No need to search for a special rom, you can do it with your current rom.
Cheers, M
thnx @ oltp
I'll give it a try
Im trying to Cook in some .exe's into my rom for AIM, Opera, and Resco File Explorer.
Ive managed to Cook in Live Search, Today Agenda, PIM Backup, and Start Clean successfully, but these other 3 Programs just wont take. Everytime i try to build the OS, it the BuildImgfs.exe ends with an error.
Any help or suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, and since you are asking that, you need to be careful that you don't mess up your phone...
On Molski.biz there is a tutorial on how to do packages. Also in the Faria Kitchen thread (stickied at the top) there is a PDF you can download. Packages are the same for all kitchens in how you make them and the rules about them.
Also, since you are talking about Opera, thats a pretty big install, so you may find thats about the only thing you can add to your rom (if you can even get that in there, as I think its like 6meg). Remember your rom size has to come in around 57meg total. Anything more than that will not flash / fit on your phone.
Yea... i read, and re-read, and just now, re-read again .. it says nothing about needing/using packages..
i think i should try recompressing the large .exe's

I secound that, i tried and it is hard to get it in there!!! you have to dump alot of stuff, and in the end i did not think it was worth it!!! I have been able to get TOMTOM in which is set at 3.62Mb.
I have been able to get around 8mb in to the rom fully dumped and about 6.72Mb partly dumped!
It is possable but you have to look at what do you want to lose!

No you do not need package for that rom packer, as it is not a kitchen, if you have not done alot of rom cooking i would say use a kitchen, faria is good and easy to use. You will find alot of poeple with what you are wanting!
i didnt think that i needed packages.. i guess i know what im doing after all. the file is obviously too big to fit into the ROM..
Time to pull out all the other stuff that i dont use.
how do other chefs manage to put so much into their roms?
Hi, I have 3 questions:
1) I've looked around a lot, but can't seem to catch hold of a chinese language for my vox...Its called Dopod rom right?? Where can I get the files and instructions??
2) Does a ROM (when dumped) contain absolutely everything that is on the phone and if flashed on another phone will be a "duplicate" of original phone??
3) I've found the wiki on how to dump my rom, but how would I be able to re-flash it onto another phone??
Thanks guys
Wow somebody who actually read the Wiki before posting - nice
1.It's on the ftp. But look at the stuff that is written in the Wiki, about no Wifi and so on.
2.Nope it isn't it's only the operating system and all the software that comes with it! So no contacts or appointments or other files you put on. When you do a hard reset, you would see what all comes with the ROM! (but don't do it, it'll wipe all your data)!
3.You would have to put it into the kitchen and try to cook a new ROM out of the dump, but look around on the ftp first, there are a lot of shipped ROMs, yours is probably there too!
I can't seem to locate the Dopod wiki... But are there ANY ROMs that can handle chinese text without sacrificing the wifi function??
In terms of the shipped ROMs folder - I couldnt find my one and besides, I'd like to have one with all my programs on. So where can I find easy to follow (I'm a newbie on all this) instructions on cooking and creating a ROM??
(Is this thread the right one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066 ) ???
Thanks for your help
HI All,
My humble apologies if whatever I am asking is already present in some way another. I tried to search for it but I was not able to find the answer. It may be my own imbecility but oh well so here it goes.
What I am trying to find out is that is it possible to image a rom. Like on a normal computer once I have my os installed and all the other apps/tweaks I can do a ghost image of it and reflash it to my computer whenever I want and all my apps/tweaks are there.
Because I love flashing new roms (almost everyday) but I have a favorite rom that I install all my apps/tweaks to. So is it possible for me to like flash a rom and customize everything on it and then take an image of it. So after I've testing let's say Dutty's new Rom and I wana go back to my old rom without having to install all the apps/crap again I can just flash the image that I've created.
Once again my humble apologies if I am asking a question that was already answered or if this is not worth asking. I know how everyone at the forum likes to keep things organized and stuff. I just don't want to piss anyone off because I know sometimes people ask some really stupid questions.
Well, there are the stickies on them, and Alex's guide in the wiki on kaiser rom cooking. Its called rom cooking .

Take a look at "SPB Clone" ... most people are going the SPB backup or Sprite Backup route...
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/?en
I've been using SPB Clone v1.5.7 and it is exactly like GHOST.
...they are up to version 1.5.9 now
There's also Sprite Clone out there...
backup & clone are 2 different things ... most would argue on that point though ... but for those of us that use Ghost or Acronis TrueImage knows better
one important note:
clone image only works on the same ROM though ... so for instance ... you have a customized image on ROM #1 ... and now you have ROM #2 on your device ...etc ( or WM5 vs WM6.0 vs WM6.1 ...etc )
you MUST reflash your device back to ROM #1 before re-cloning that custom image !!!
it's like you have XP and then custom tweaked & then cloning it ... and went on to install Vista ... technically, you can reclone the image ( provided that you choose the option to format the HD 1st and PocketPC doesn't have that option...etc ) ... but if you didn't ... you would have to have XP back on it before you re-clone ...etc
Happy cloning !!!
UnicornKaz .... very well put.
I tried to explain this several times the say way & people just don't get it, there's a difference .... a BIG difference.
Just to add, SPB Clone has a $299 price tag on it!
Is it worth the $ .... It depends on your usage. It does work, very well.
Hello guys i have a problem with my HTC HD7...i install the 8112 update then 8773 with languages ( from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27960331&postcount=929 ) but without a backup ... "C:/ no space" and all goes right.. but when the phone was on the start screen and go to settings: "wifi, emails+accounts, messaging, about phone" - doesn't work
I tried to install O2-DE ROM's ( from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000467 ) and i get the [226] error - flash write , i tried to install a DFT ROM but SPL-5x.. and doesn't support it... please guys i am new in ROM's and stuff's and i am really desperate and don't know what to do to fix my phone.. if you can send me a good custom ROM or someone who fixed the [266] error please help.. and just in case if someone has a mango BACKUP and it can be send... via link that would be awesome
Thanx
Sorry for bad english.
Why did you start a new thread for this? This should be part of the CAB Update thread.
Your problem is very obvious if you just read the instructions for CAB updating. You needed to send the language packs along with your OS update. Language packs are in their own CAB files, but can be sent at the same time as the update CAB. There are instructions for figuring out which ones you need to send.
You're messing with things here that can really screw up your phone, much worse than it is now. *ALWAYS* read the instructions first. Read what problems others have had, and how they fixed them. Follow the steps, don't cut corners.
That said, if you really want to install a custom ROM, this is possible. You'll need a GoldCard, which is to say a USB Mass Storage device like a SD card or a flashdrive with a special file on it, plus some way to connect it directly to your phone and power the device at the same time (typically a USB Y-cable). There are full instructions, with links to parts and pictures of how to set it up, available on this forum. That will let you downgrade your bootloader version so you can install HSPL.
Phone status: Updated
Problem solved, finally i upgraded my HTC HD7 to 8773 by reinstall the 8112, 8773 again +languages and it worked
-So for those who think that their phones are lost (Walshed) repeat this step 1-2 times
