hi to all.its been quite a while that i have gone to search methods of upgrading prophet but since i a a newbie, i a overwhelmed with great post of doing this and doing that to upgrading..now i am a bit confuse on where to start.. i have downloaded much of the upgrading tools like awizard, shelltool, etc..but i do not know on how to begin...
i have a dopod 818, a G4.. with IPL & SPL 2.15.0001 GSM 02.17.0001 and OS 2.15.13.24....my problem is on how to change the language to english because it is in chinese.. i have tried backing up the ROMs through SDcard but it does go through..next thing i thought maybe its CID lock.because i have read that it will not backup if it is CID lock...correct me if i am wrong?
i have read also of shelltool of which you could upgrade your ROM without touching IPL and SPL stuff but if my dopod is cid lock, would it not be brick?
i am trying to do this hopefully by myself..but please help me on where to start..i just want my dopod in english..

I have upgraded my dopod rom using this file RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship.exe from the xda developers ftp.
After upgrading I found that the version number is incorrect
IPL 1.00
SPL 2.15.0000
I have tried reflashing with the same rom several time but the version number for IPL remains the same.
How can I upgrade the IPL correctly?
Where can I find the upgrade for IPL/SPL 2.15.0001?
I cannot flash my dopod 818 pro ROM...it said that I have wrong type of device :?: :?: :?: :?:
Did you guys CID unlock first?

The rom I flash last time for my O2 XDA neo was RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID. No CID unlocking is neccesary, and the procedure of flashing is as easy as installing a software.
You don't need .0001
AFAIK, the number depends of G3 or G4 mainborad hardware version. .0000 means that you have G3. Let it be, and don't touch if it works well.
I also have the same problem. My IPL seems 1.00 and I'm looking for the 2.15.0001.
I'm totally sure I have the device CID unlock, why? I can Install ROM from i-mate, Qtek and Dopod.
I tryed many days, many hours nad still working.
Please give me a help, a hand, please. Thank you in advance.

I am not a really experienced user in ROM upgrading, IPLs, SPLs, and the works. I have read a LOT about these subjects and i still don't understand a few things. Nevertheless i tried.
I own a G4 CID-Locked Prophet (QTEK S200) as described in the title and i tried upgrading to WM6 "just to see" what the hell would it do.
Before trying this WM6 upgrade i tried yet another thing which is kinda risky and actually turned this same S200 into a brick temporarily. I used the known shelltool_bugfixed application to upgrade to AKU 3.3.13 (extract OS from a complete ROM, then replace the OS file with the AKU 3.3.13 one) and it worked. I tried doing the same with clean1 V2 ROM and it bricked it.
I reflashed the Prophet with an original ROM using the novendor-id RUU, thinking it would never bring it to life, but it did. Also upgraded my SPL to 2.13.0001.
Then i tried upgading to clean1 V2 WM6 rom again (Jesus, stubborn guy) just by simply decompressing the files and running "UPGRADE_ROM.BAT". And it worked.
I was REALLY surprised because i read over and over again about this and i had the idea WM6 needed some special IPL and/or SPL and that my device had to be CID-Unlocked before the upgrade.
These are just a few events of yesterday and today with my Prophet which i wanted to share with you. I still find it unbelievable but here i am, running WM6 and happy as hell with it. WM6 really looks awesome and works a treat

If you dont write IPL/SPL without the right CID, you cant use all WM6 Firmwares ;-)

I wish i could understand that, it would help me figure out what i can use on my CID-Locked Prophet and what i can't... before i brick it for good

Don't know what your are talking about but all wm6 in this forum gave me no problems when i flashed them. Mine is CID locked G4 from ORANGE. So just try. There are lots of alternatives. All working more or less... Find the one better suits your prophet.
Read what i said in the first post. I know it's a bit confusing, but it says there i have successfully flashed my S200 with WM6 (smart1 V2 ROM).
I was just surprised because with all the spread information around WM6, i thought i needed to downgrade to some "special" IPL/SPL version or that i couldn't flash just because my G4 is CID-Locked.
After all, i can just flash about anything without bricking my S200. The only thing i think would brick it is if i downgraded (somehow) the IPL/SPL. Am i correct?
you can only upgrade IPL & SPL
but you can upgrade and downgrade OS
what I really confused about it, what is the relation between IPL&SPL and OS
as I understand, some OS need newer IPL & SPL

as I noticed, there isn't any relation between IPL/SPL and OS
and upgrading SPL doesn't take any profits

i don't see the problem. it's no biggy if you have different versions of ipl and spl. if it works, leave it like that

this worked for me, but as i sure learned from flashing ipl/spl 3.08 (before flashing ipl 3.08 of wizard and totally bricking my g3 prophet ), this is no guarantee for others

I have a Question,I've use Hard-spl 3.10 by cmonex flash done and while entering bootloader I have IPL 2.20.002 while SPL is 3.10.cmonex. Is that normal? Can i flash cooked rom without the risk of bricking the phone? And if IPL should be the same with SPL,can someone teach me how to update IPL please, I've read that you have to enter bootloader and using RUU to update but nothing happen. Please advise and thanks in advance. Devices is in chinese OS by the way hoping to convert it to WWE.
did you read the wiki about flashing and the thread from were the spl apps comefrom. considering you are "hoping" to convert from chinese os to wwe i dont think you are 100% what youre doing

1. Please follow the rules. This post has nothing with developing ROMs.
2. This is a very common problem. It has been answered many times. A little search with probably find you the answer: Create a Goldcard. Search for the term Goldcard and you will find a few walkthroughs on how to fix the phone. If you search the XDA-Wiki, you'll also find a walkthrough.
The walkthroughs for the Elf and Herald are identical. The walkthrough for the Dream is not the same but works the same anyways.
