WM6 on G4 CID-Locked Prophet

Hello,
I am not a really experienced user in ROM upgrading, IPLs, SPLs, and the works. I have read a LOT about these subjects and i still don't understand a few things. Nevertheless i tried.
I own a G4 CID-Locked Prophet (QTEK S200) as described in the title and i tried upgrading to WM6 "just to see" what the hell would it do.
Before trying this WM6 upgrade i tried yet another thing which is kinda risky and actually turned this same S200 into a brick temporarily. I used the known shelltool_bugfixed application to upgrade to AKU 3.3.13 (extract OS from a complete ROM, then replace the OS file with the AKU 3.3.13 one) and it worked. I tried doing the same with clean1 V2 ROM and it bricked it.
I reflashed the Prophet with an original ROM using the novendor-id RUU, thinking it would never bring it to life, but it did. Also upgraded my SPL to 2.13.0001.
Then i tried upgading to clean1 V2 WM6 rom again (Jesus, stubborn guy) just by simply decompressing the files and running "UPGRADE_ROM.BAT". And it worked.
I was REALLY surprised because i read over and over again about this and i had the idea WM6 needed some special IPL and/or SPL and that my device had to be CID-Unlocked before the upgrade.
These are just a few events of yesterday and today with my Prophet which i wanted to share with you. I still find it unbelievable but here i am, running WM6 and happy as hell with it. WM6 really looks awesome and works a treat

If you dont write IPL/SPL without the right CID, you cant use all WM6 Firmwares ;-)

So you mean IPL and SPL are directly related to CID-Locks?
I wish i could understand that, it would help me figure out what i can use on my CID-Locked Prophet and what i can't... before i brick it for good
As i said above, when i "brought it back to life" with an original JamIN rom, it upgraded the SPL to 2.13.0001 (it was 2.10.0001 previously).

Don't know what your are talking about but all wm6 in this forum gave me no problems when i flashed them. Mine is CID locked G4 from ORANGE. So just try. There are lots of alternatives. All working more or less... Find the one better suits your prophet.

Read what i said in the first post. I know it's a bit confusing, but it says there i have successfully flashed my S200 with WM6 (smart1 V2 ROM).
I was just surprised because with all the spread information around WM6, i thought i needed to downgrade to some "special" IPL/SPL version or that i couldn't flash just because my G4 is CID-Locked.
After all, i can just flash about anything without bricking my S200. The only thing i think would brick it is if i downgraded (somehow) the IPL/SPL. Am i correct?

you can only upgrade IPL & SPL
but you can upgrade and downgrade OS
what I really confused about it, what is the relation between IPL&SPL and OS
as I understand, some OS need newer IPL & SPL
can any one correct me

not exactly, on CID-locked device you can upgrade onlu SPL

as I noticed, there isn't any relation between IPL/SPL and OS
and upgrading SPL doesn't take any profits

I have SPL 2.21 and can't flash to WM6

Hello everyone,
I'm totally lost in this WM6 upgrade.
I've tried everything but i wont get my MDA Vario to flash with WM6.
My MDA Vario is unlocked (sim and CID) but i can't flash it because of my SPL 2.21????
This is what i have done:
installed button's 1.05 ROM
Download & installed lokiwiz - HTC Wizard Unlocker UPDATE Version 0.2b.
But stil my SPL is at 2.21.
Can someone please help me out here??

Both your IPL and your SPL must be 2.xx and higher. After you flashed to Buttons rom. did you reflash to a higher version after after you unlocked and cid unlocked your phone to make sure both IPL and SPL were 2.xx or higher?

I've followed the tutorial:
16. Watch the rebooting of your PDA, if BOTH IPL and SPL are 1.xx then great. Quite probably your IPL will be 1.xx and your SPL will be 2.xx. Rerun the button 1.05 ROM downgrade a second time and it will become 1.x on both IPL and SPL. You don't need to redo the unlocking.
17. My suggestion, take for what it's worth, is to download and install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
This will give you a strong 2.26 IPL and SPL to work with.
My IPL was 1.XX after the 1.05 downgrade, but my SPL was still 2.21 even after the rerun.
I have tried to instal T-Mobile 2.26 rom, but it gave an error.

check if you have G3 or G4 unit

I have a 3G device.

I think that you haven't unlocked the phone properly. Read Dr. P's tutorial about unlocking G3 phones.

if your ipl is 1.05 and your spl is still 2.21...then you need to reflash again so that both ipl and spl are 1.05 before you can proceed. ipl and spl should never be different.

WHen you downgrade to the Button rom, in most cases the IPL will change, but the SPL will not. You then have to downgrade again to get the SPL to get to 1.xx . There have been some cases reported where it takes reflahsing the button rom many times (like 8 times or somesuch) before the SPL will finally come down, but you have to complete this step or you will not be CID Unlocked.
Make sure you have your SD card out when you are flashing as this can cause problems.
Good luck, and sorry, but for those that have run into the stuck SPL there hasn't been a real solution other than keep flashing the button rom until it drops down to 1.xx. After that then the CID unlock will be complete and you can then flash the T-Mobile 2.26 rom (or whatever other 2.xx rom you want).

The Dr. P tutorial specifically says this (just not in those words). It tells you (after the last lokiwiz) to watch your screen and that you most likely will still have an SPL of 2.xx and will need to reflash (most people just don't read this and try to move on). The part of about having to reflash numerous times is new though. I've only heard of it a few times, but if you look at the posts from a month or so agao in the Dr P thread on unlocking you'll see where a few people ran into it and it took numerous flashes to finally get SPL to go to 1.xx.

before wm6 roms, every time there was a new rom for wm5 (molski or faria) you'd always get people in the thread mentioning that their ipl and spl are different. in those threads, the advice has always been to reflash a few extra times too. (I personally haven't had any problems with this...but i think i started my unlocking on a 1.8 us t-mobile rom with xelencin's rom...which had an unlocker built into the rom update package).
anyway, the phone's not bricked or anything, so you just have to keep flashing to get it working...

I've re-flashed 3 times but if i understand correct, than i have to retry flashing until SPL and IPL are the same?

yes. ipl and spl should both drop to 1.05. at that point you can go through the unlock and flash back up.

With all your good advise, i finally have my MDA Vario flashed with a WM6 rom (TNT 2.0 Professional)
I'm really greatfull to you!
Now i have to find out what WM6 rom is the best for me.

problems flashing

i am having problems flashing some OS, and i cant even touch IPL SPL and Radio...im pretty sure i unlocked...but it might have failed...note that i have been able to do all of these things before...any assistance is appreciated

got the IPL and SPL to update just taking the .nbk and plugging it into different old OS's...tried radio in same place i pluged IPL SPL and no luck...any suggestions?...

Look at the unlocking post in Wizard Upgrading subforum, download the Button's 1.05 ROM to have IPL and SPL downgraded to 1.05, then you can unlock and flash other ROM.
However, since you are now at 3.08 IPL, it may not be easy to have SPL downgraded. Don't try to unlock if IPL is 1.01 and SPL is 3.08. Instead try to flash again until SPL downgraded

the thing is ive been able 2 flash any rom i choosed b4...and i have went threw the unlocking process before...so its not that...

also r there any roms made to b flashed on vista and xp?

I may have solution but I'm afraid to post it here, and one has the strength to test it.
it will writ the SPL using pdocwrit;, but I'm afraid cause when read the SPL it will have the same begining of the SPL in nk.nbf but after a while it will have diffreneces, but when I read the SPL using r2sd command it will have the smae SPL in nk.nbf
and I have harmless SPL solution it will have the same version 3.08 but it will be the same as 2.20 if anyone intrested in this please answer me

this will upgrade to version 3.09.
if done succefuly this new 3.09 has the same functions of 2.20 SPL
so if one has unlocked G3 with 3.08 and success to upgrade 3.09 (2.20) please try to unlock CID the device and to install the 2.20
and if it works with G4 device this 3.09 has the same funtions of 2.20 and the device will be again PM300
till working in pdocwrite I hope this will work for now

I have already updated with paradis g4 spl 3.09 it but to me it continues leaving spl 3.08 and it changes to me 1 splash with your face

I put my spalsh screen to make sure that you flash the new SPL
cause it will flash firt SPL then new splash screen and new HTC Logo in order.
did you get any error message? please tell me, what device model you have now?

what is the diference between 2.20 and 3.08,i mean functions?

the functions in 2.20 is for prophet hardware and 3.08 are for charmer hardware and there is of course defference between them
3.09 is for prophet hardware the same as 2.20 and you can stay with it for your prophet

I have not received any mensage of error when flash my device PM320(htc s200) with paradis g4 only it appears to me in boot screen ipl 2.20 and spl 3.08

I have returned to flash my device with paradis g4 and to me it continues appearing spl 3,08 but now my device continues being pm320 tell me a solution if you know it, thanks. I feel my English I am Spanish

paradis i know that 3.08 is spl from charmer,but i don't understand why then someone ported it for prophet?what better i get with charmer spl?and what with prophet 2.20 spl?

ok, I see, but strange if there is no error this should be SPL 3.09 with same functions of 2.20

help stuck in bootloader

right i have the g3 model with a german rom on so i wanted to upgrade i'll tell u what i did, 1st off i put fone into bootlader mode then run the rru for the hardspl, that said it had done so then i did the exact same thing to put the shadow 1.0 rom on and when it completed it wont come out of bootloader mode.... any help????

oh also dont know if this helps when i was flashing it didnt come up with any info in the rom version for my phone?

Ok. i had the same problem.. SO wot i did was to redo all the steps of flashing a rom. I did the hardspl all new... and then flashed a radio rom... nd then wm6.1 ro m of my choice it worked
