Hi guys,
just got my self an xda mini s and im looking to get Tom Tom installed on it. Checked out there site and they are looking for £200 for the software. I would rather see if there was anyone about who knows where i could download it from for free otherwise would probably be easier to by an actual GPS system. Would appreciate any help.
If you have enough money to get an Xda mini s, then you should also have enough money to buy TomTom. We do not share Warez here in the forum, so do not ask for it.
There are many other places where you will be able to find it, so go there and keep this forum clean....
Stefan
ooooo, ok, well i got given the phone, never would be able to afford it, thats why i cant afford the software. nevermind
the £200 price would be for the software AND the gps bluetooth receiver. you can BUY the software on its own for about £90 but you'll need to purchase a separate GPS receiver anyway.
BTW, The reason you BUY software is to support the developers who create the product. If you use a product you should obtain it legally. This site could well be closed down if people take a cavalier attitude to pirated software.
anyway some useful websites
www.totalpda.co.uk
www.pocketgps.co.uk
www.expansys.com
Is Tom Tom the best you reckon, or there better ones?
Its the best software.
Speaking of which I bought my wife a TomTom navigator 5 package for £152 inclusive just so she could have the tom tom reciever to use with her ipaq hpw6515.
Reason being she is my wife and did not want a cheaper reciever. So this leaves me one times brand new tom tom navigator 5 software on the sd card selaed. Never been registered used or touched.
I have simply removed the tomtom gps reciever and car charger.
I am looking for a happy customer. No this is is not the specail kind of softwrae but actual software. If any one is interested in buying genuine software. Let me know, am happy to post any photos I am in London by the way and can post within Uk. I am asking for something reasonable.
P.S stefan chill, there is no harm in asking. No need to shoot people down. Agreed this should be a clean forum. Have you looked at the ftp site? Nothing more to sya then is there...
Just because some one buys a xda mini s does not mean they can afford to buy tomtom 5. I buy stuff cos I am a techno geek.

Listen. Just browsed the following pages at Expansys.com regarding the above. Can someone tell me what hardware differences there are between the two devices. I'll be damned if the Expansion Pack for I-Mate could not work with the XDAII. Check out the price difference!

I just rang them and they said they are 2 identical products but with different manufacturies (excuise my spelling) hence the different price, the Cheaper £82 inc VAT should be ready first week in Feb

wooh Bo Selcta got to Jamica great show, they are identical though quite a rip of and I dont belive for one moment they different manufactures just different boxes that HTC packaged them in
when the rep said to me "different manufactures" i did say "do you mean from different airtime providers" he said "yeh yeh different manufactures" So i take it he had no idea the phone was sold in 2 formats but they are both the same.

So did anyone work out if the I-mate backpack fits & works on the XDAII?
well since they are both HTC Himalaya
and the only difference between I-mate, xda2 and mda2
is a printet label on the device and custom rom
then unless they made some software block it would work
CF Backpacks
Yes - They are all interchangeable ...
BTW: If anyone has one they want to sell, I need a couple for a project..
[email protected] if you've got one
Cheers
Andy
Expansys, ey? Fact is that both are not available yet and in good Expansys tradition they list products for pre-order that they cannot deliver on - they just want you to place a pre-order and hope you will stick with it once the product becomes available... OK, prices on this path are just entirely wrong, but who cares about customers at Expansys anyway
Agree Frank
Have to agree, Frank - I notice you're a local . They should at least be stating accurately when a product is to be released and what the likely wait times are.
Not to mention the fact that the grey market of these products through Expansys just messes up the support channels here in Australia. We can't compete with a zero warranty, zero support product here!!! We've got to factor replacement, support and warranty costs - Real people, real families and real time...
It's hard enough supporting the issues in the current iMate lines (Like helping customers install Widcomm Bluetooth stacks to get GPS units and Navigation systems like Destinator working) - Now that O2 is looking like it'll pull out of Australia altogether now that the Telstra Australia deal pulled away from O2 to iMate (Carrier devices) ... It's going to be interesting what happens with the grey market for these products...
Carrier Devices won't touch a unit from outside Australia!
Cheers.
Andy
Has anyone tried a CF Wi-FI (802.11b) card with the expansion pack?
Do standard CF memory cards stick out a lot or are they flush when installed?
I'm thinking about an i-Mate or XDA-II but I'll need the expansion pack and the ability for Wi-FI (802.11b).
Thank you in advance for the help...
JB
Someone has to actually get the Backpack before we can try it
I ordered one from a place that it was suggested actually had them in stock. I ordered, knowing full well of course that I'd get the "we apologize, but..." e-mail. And of course, a few hours later, I got that e-mail. They claim they had been told this week they would get them, now they are told next Wed Jan 28th. I'll believe it when I see a shipment tracking number. I think HTC has been saying "next week" for the Backpack since November.
I have a Socket CF WiFi card I've been dying to try. My Sandisk SD card works fine, but its a bit awkward the way it sticks out so far and the Socket CF card, with its small antenna, would not seem to extend beyond the edge of the XDA, according to the pictures I've seen of the CF slot on the Backpack.
HTC has handled their accessories very poorly IMO. I don't understand what the holdup is getting them out. The XDA II has been out for months now, but try and get even something as basic as a spare battery. At this rate, the XDA III will be out just as accessories for the XDA II are hitting stores
OK - thanks.
I had not realized that the backpacks were not "shipping" yet.
Please keep us posted.

CF Backpack delivery date!
G'day All,
The CF backpack shipment here is due on Feb 21st 2004. ie. Another few weeks... That's the iMate branded one.. It'll be interesting to see if the O2 branded ones turn up first - But I DEFINITELY doubt it!!
Cheers
Andrew
P.S. If you want one, http://estore.pressd.com in the Pocket PC Section.
Expansion Packs have arrived at expansis UK
I have cantacted Expansis and asked when they will have the expansion packs. They say in 4 working days (Monday in my reconing)
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=109731&asource=106055
They aslo said this is their second shipment as the first lot had run out.
I also noticed that the O2 version has now gone up in price from their previous listing and is very similar to the imate price. But you have to wait 40 days for it.
If anyone has tried it out yet let me know what you think.

A liitle poll about PocketZenPhone.
I like to thank those who donate but I'm far from a XDA2.
To help me to buy one I think to buy PZP for 5/7€ (in fact 7€ because sale site such as handango keeps 30% of the price)
What do you think ?
I have the version 3.6, and I tried to make a donation, but Paypal doesn't support Slovenian credit cards.
So I will pay for your software for sure.
Excellent work Zendrui.
Bye by Urosh
I also had problems donating on PayPal with my American Express card - so would happily pay €7/$8.48 for your software.
I hope you get your XDA II very soon!
i think that you should but with shareware everywhere the problem is that it's often pretty easy to pay if you live in the same country or such as the person you want to pay but if you live on the northpole it's more of an issue
(not that i live on the northpole )
in this case it seems the only way to go... how much did you get by donations? can't remember the amount you mentioned here, but it's truly not going to be a 14590 bucks... that's the count of people visiting your site. imagine only the half has downloaded and everyone would have donated 1 little buck to you, that would be more than just one xda2. i think that's the world we are living in nowadays. everyone wants to get everything for free... sad story. good luck with going commercial, but think about how to protect it, if you consider too, and i'm sure we are going to see this on some warez-site soon... again sad world
For now I get 90€ ... if I sell it for 5/7€ maybe it could help me to approach the XDA2.
I'm not thinking to get many € but ...
Really the XDA2 is my only motivation to sell
like wise i can't donate because my country is not included in pay pal, i would buy it for 8$ seems like a good price but only if it had weekdays also including on/off times
like wise i can't donate because my country is not included in pay pal, i would buy it for 8$ seems like a good price but only if it had weekdays also including on/off times
I would think USD 20/15 EUR would be much more fair given the value we get.
Regards
Michael
So, where I can buy pocketzenphone?
how about having 2 PZP versions?
1. PZP lite which would be for free and only includes the basuc profile changing functions
2. PZP pro which would include all the sophisticated functions of timers and radio on/off and so on??
that way you could stand by your initial principle of free PZP while you could make some money for the XDA 2
i think the fair thing to do is the following questoin
How far are you from an xdaII price? i think you have developed a perfect peice of programming very easy & fairly working fine with every body, seling it will creat more problems than solving it, like your commitment to fix bugs or update it for free for the 1st year, then you need to reply on the complains & 30% will be shared with Handango & might even to get to some legal issue you might not be aware of, so i think if we know how much you need still for an xdaII we will make sure we reach that price & therefore you get rewarded without commtment, unless you are thinking of making that a business thats a complete defferant story

Well said Rabia? I liked PzP because it was freeware and that Zenduri was always available to fix the bugs and provide upgrades.
Hows about setting up some sort of PO Box that others can send a cheque or money order if their are unable to donate from their countries via PayPal. Or if anyone has another idea along these lines. My God its 2004 their are other options besides PayPal! Just my two cents.

why protect it? sell it - and there will be more than enough people willing to pay. if i think of all the ppl having a pda and 99% of them have NO idea where to get warez.
i for myself would pay for it. i think 5.- is ok for a "little" tool for the pda.
regards ize|man
i bet there would be a lot of people willing to pay for pzp and i would bet up to €10 would be no problem to sell 4.x with all the funtions this build offers. i was more than happy to donate some € to zendrui in the beginning of pzp and would donate again some € if he would not go commercial. but if he is going to sell pzp count me in... but i would bet to see that on some place soon...
Hi,
I hope you got the EUR 10 from me !
I use the software regularly. It's great with my HBH 35 headset. I now do active sync only with bluetooth.
Regards, Dave
Rabias idea is the best, without doubt.
And yeah, only few people know how to get PPC warez.
But if you find it.. whoo... the possibilities - to test before buy!
If someone find the manner to send the money from Slovenia I'll send it (7€) to Zendrui without Handango.
I think that you are right. Handango is for finding clients, but Zendrui just has clients (us). So it is stupid to give 30% to Handango only because we are not able to send the money to Zendrui.

any comments???
I haven't got a clue mate. I was looking at Expansys but I haven't used any of them before so I don't know who is the best in terms delivery, after sales etc.
I'm looking for some recommendations as well.
i had ok xp with Expansys
if their price is right i would prob get it from them
expanys do a bundle with europe maps at £464.99 but it doesn't come out until February plus is the most expensive one around
They seem a bit more expensive than some but if their service is good I might consider them.
Mobile Planet for purchase - what GPS software?
I have pre-ordered mine from Mobile-Planet. (Expansys in the USA) Of course being a newbie, you get a not so hot price but that is a sacrifice to being first. I have heard that the first USA order is arriving in Manchester England on Dec. 14th and 700 of them will be in the USA on Dec. 16th-ish.
I do have a question. I have heard that these phones come with the TomTom software for the GPS. Is that a standard software package in all of the HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris phones? Or, is this something that I have to upgrade to? Or, can I use my own 3rd party app once I get the phone?
Let me know what some of you are doing.
Here in the UK the cruise comes without GPS maps but some places they have a bundle already installed tom tom with a DVD of europe maps and car charger. and maybe a car holder
your question is very good because I was considering buying tom tom separetely if its workout to be cheaper but my findings tell me that a bundle is the cheapest option.
regarding which sofware to buy, I have no experience with GPS software but tom tom seem to be the most popular.
can anyone make comments on tomtom, copilot, mamopolis, etc???? please

I personally have two Garmin GPS's. (Garmin CSx60 & C550 - North America) I can tell you that the Garmin maps, on average, are about 1-2 years out of date. Magellan seems to be about the same and TomTom also. I do know that TomTom is now advertising more frequent updates and better logic behind the routing. (Whether its true or not is unknown) There has also been major bids from Garmin and a few other companies to purchase the mapping software companies. (NavTeq and TeleAtlas) So, to answer your question, I think Garmin has the best logic for routing. TomTom has the best maps. They do get all the maps from the two mappings companies though.
If you want to get into the details, GPSPassion.com or GPSReview.com should be able to assist you.
Good luck and let me know if you find anything useful -

HTC typically ships GPS enabled phones with a 'Teaser' version of the Nav software which allows you to download one city map for free. After that, you need to pay. I installed a thirp party nav software. My pre-release Cruise arrived with no nav software at all.
Tom Tom are selling maps with 50% off at the moment http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/index.php?Lid=1
Don't know if the version is ok for the Cruise but worth a look

I've just chatted with the nice chap at smart devices and they've just been notified by HTC that they wont be receiving stock until the 18th Jan now.
Seems like this wont be anybodys xmas toy after all
I hope it will be in o2 on contract at the end of jan. (i need to renew contract anyway) it's a shame is not available yet.
In Germany, known as O2-Xda Orbit 2 is officially available (here) since beginning of this month (1-12-2007). Yet the dealer is unable to provide me this at the moment, however, it would be available by next week.
About maps, Orbit 2 also comes with COMPLETE maps for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plus ALL main European roads, all in a very reasonable price package, so seems like an ideal solution for me!
exspansys
Me and my brother ordered one each today, £389.95 - tomtom of one city, but thats not a problem as have copilot that came with my orbit, also the date is now Jan 18th
Im going to wait for the UK o2 release of the polaris, the orbit2, looks real sexy much better than the square htc version.
I've just requested a pre-order from Expansys and I have an availability to ship of January 21st.
I guess it's taking longer and longer. I might as well start looking for a slim hard case for this. Anyone know if there is one for a brand new product?
I don't think there is any case for the cruise just yet but keep us inform if you find one
Hi Guys,
Quick Question, I have a Nokia N80 (yes, blasphemy around here - I Know). I don't want to sell it but instead I would like to trade it for a windows mobile 6 or 6.1 device.
I found a few sites that are for cell phone trading, but they seem to be more for profit of trading in old phones to buy new ones, not straight up trades.
Anyone here know of a good cell trading site, or, interested in trading a win mobile device for a N80 with a bunch of extras? It's all legit, I bought it myself in Brazil and paid for some apps for it etc. No stolen crap
Thanks,
Matt

Thanks Leoni,
This site looks rad, but, because I'm in canada, shipping and mhz/voltages may be an issue.
I'll keep an eye out here though, look to be some great deals.
Thanks,
Matt
Have a look at www.esato.com they have a good marketplace going, and the a lot of the users are from different countries and quite a few international trades take place.
Steve
Dawso,
Thanks, this place looks great. Its too bad I have to wait 30 days before posting to the marketplace though
Thanks for the link either way, I'd never seen this place before and looks quite active.
Matt
I have been trying to get copilot to run on the igntio o2 kindly sent me after my orbit broke, however, the software that came with the orbit requires there to be a memory card. AKG say there is nothing they can do about it but I can spend £80 and upgrade to a new version that does work! no thanks!
Just wondered if the was a crack out ther to sort this issue out!
Any help would be gratefully recieved as running google navigator is costing me a fortune in download fees.
