I was wondeirng if anyone has any opinions on the Treo 650. A friend offered me a new Treo 650 for pennies and am not sure if I should take it. Until recently I was using an XDA1 and loved it, but unfortunately it broke. I was wondering if palm has any decent software? I have a large collection of pocket PC software and I don't know if I want to start over from scratch. Thanks for your help.

If you're getting it for pennies, why linger?
If you don't want it, I'll have it!
There's lots and lots of Palm software, you'll have no issues there. But hardware isn't as powerful so expect different quality, but certainly no less ingenuity!

Ha Ha thanks. Does anyone know of a similar site to xda-developers that deals with Pam OS?
-Ross
treocentral google it
There are loads of forums for this, if you want some advice on palm and some links to software give me a message.
The treo 650 is a superb handset I love its pim features. After first updtae awesome. If you dont wnat sell to me, so I can use mine for a test bed.
Well I sent apple_power a PM and he never responded so I guess I'll open this up to the forum, before I put it on ebay (I despise ebay). I am going to sell my treo 650, brand new, never used from the box. I was looking for 300 pounds or a reasonable offer. If anyone is interested drop me a line in the next few days ([email protected]). Thanks. Happy Holidays.

Hi guys,
just got my self an xda mini s and im looking to get Tom Tom installed on it. Checked out there site and they are looking for £200 for the software. I would rather see if there was anyone about who knows where i could download it from for free otherwise would probably be easier to by an actual GPS system. Would appreciate any help.
If you have enough money to get an Xda mini s, then you should also have enough money to buy TomTom. We do not share Warez here in the forum, so do not ask for it.
There are many other places where you will be able to find it, so go there and keep this forum clean....
Stefan
ooooo, ok, well i got given the phone, never would be able to afford it, thats why i cant afford the software. nevermind
the £200 price would be for the software AND the gps bluetooth receiver. you can BUY the software on its own for about £90 but you'll need to purchase a separate GPS receiver anyway.
BTW, The reason you BUY software is to support the developers who create the product. If you use a product you should obtain it legally. This site could well be closed down if people take a cavalier attitude to pirated software.
anyway some useful websites
www.totalpda.co.uk
www.pocketgps.co.uk
www.expansys.com
Is Tom Tom the best you reckon, or there better ones?
Its the best software.
Speaking of which I bought my wife a TomTom navigator 5 package for £152 inclusive just so she could have the tom tom reciever to use with her ipaq hpw6515.
Reason being she is my wife and did not want a cheaper reciever. So this leaves me one times brand new tom tom navigator 5 software on the sd card selaed. Never been registered used or touched.
I have simply removed the tomtom gps reciever and car charger.
I am looking for a happy customer. No this is is not the specail kind of softwrae but actual software. If any one is interested in buying genuine software. Let me know, am happy to post any photos I am in London by the way and can post within Uk. I am asking for something reasonable.
P.S stefan chill, there is no harm in asking. No need to shoot people down. Agreed this should be a clean forum. Have you looked at the ftp site? Nothing more to sya then is there...
Just because some one buys a xda mini s does not mean they can afford to buy tomtom 5. I buy stuff cos I am a techno geek.
Hi @ll..
yesterday is was in an O2 Store and there was an information, that the XDA Orbit 2 (it´s a HTC Touch Cruise i think), will be released by O2 on 2nd December.
At home i found on the internet, that O2 will also release an "XDA Stellar", but no information about when it will come in Germany?
I was astounded about that PDA!! And now I think it will necessarily have it!! THATs SO COOL!!
but i don´t know, what Accessories the O2 Device will bring with it.
Also i could buy the original HTC Tytn II (is that the Kaiser?), but i think the o2 will be cheaper with more Accessories..
Someone has more information about it??
thanxx 2 @ll
[NEWS]
I phoned with the customer support of o2..
now it seems, that the XDA Stella(r) will not come in Germay
Instead of this one, the XDA Orbit 2 will come out (aka HTC Touche Cruise)
with carholder, Tom Tom, etc..
And no i decided to buy an original HTC TyTN II
me, as one of O2 owner, will not buy any O2 product anymore,.
It is expensive, and bad in customer service,.
In atom forum, most people agree of not going to buy any O2 device,.
It is better to use a HTC device, so many useful apps, WM6 upgrade is prepared by the Official, and espesially good in customer service,.
look at the ATOM forum, me, they, and any others members, havent solve the problem for WM6 ROM, (so we dont have a perfect WM6 ROM yet)
but look at HTC device, any non-perfect ROM?? nope,.
that because they have an official WM6 ROM,.
@ Garmin
you are right..
so i decided to buy the one from HTC.
But i never had problems the support of o2 (germany). this was great!
And the thing, why i wanted the one from o2, are the accessories like full TomTom, things for the car and the second pen..
My hopes dashed
Just got my hopes up that the Stellar was going to answer my prayers but now discovered that it only has a 2.8" screen.
I've had an XDA IIi for almost three years now. About every six months I have a search for any worthwhile upgrades and keep being surprised that HTC haven't brought anything out. All I want is an XDA IIi (or equivalent with a 3.5" screen as I use it for lots of surfing) with fast web browsing (3G). GPS would be nice. A decent camera would be nice but I'm not that fussed.
The XDA Exec looked good but was just too heavy (and based on some friends' experiences quite buggy and unreliable).
The XDA Trion got my hopes up but only had the 2.8" screen.
Is it just me? I just can't believe it. I have other few friends clutching onto other XDAs as well because they don't want to downgrade to something else.
Maybe the Samsung F700 will do it...
www.clove.uk.uk £388.92 inc vat no bundles
www.devicewire.co.uk £374.99 inc vat
www.handteck.co.uk £373.64 inc vat and £440.61 with tomtom europe
www.powerupmobile.com £369.95 inc vat
I much prefer to get my device with an atractive bundle e.g europe maps, car charger etc
any comments???
I haven't got a clue mate. I was looking at Expansys but I haven't used any of them before so I don't know who is the best in terms delivery, after sales etc.
I'm looking for some recommendations as well.
i had ok xp with Expansys
if their price is right i would prob get it from them
expanys do a bundle with europe maps at £464.99 but it doesn't come out until February plus is the most expensive one around
They seem a bit more expensive than some but if their service is good I might consider them.
Mobile Planet for purchase - what GPS software?
I have pre-ordered mine from Mobile-Planet. (Expansys in the USA) Of course being a newbie, you get a not so hot price but that is a sacrifice to being first. I have heard that the first USA order is arriving in Manchester England on Dec. 14th and 700 of them will be in the USA on Dec. 16th-ish.
I do have a question. I have heard that these phones come with the TomTom software for the GPS. Is that a standard software package in all of the HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris phones? Or, is this something that I have to upgrade to? Or, can I use my own 3rd party app once I get the phone?
Let me know what some of you are doing.
Here in the UK the cruise comes without GPS maps but some places they have a bundle already installed tom tom with a DVD of europe maps and car charger. and maybe a car holder
your question is very good because I was considering buying tom tom separetely if its workout to be cheaper but my findings tell me that a bundle is the cheapest option.
regarding which sofware to buy, I have no experience with GPS software but tom tom seem to be the most popular.
can anyone make comments on tomtom, copilot, mamopolis, etc???? please

I personally have two Garmin GPS's. (Garmin CSx60 & C550 - North America) I can tell you that the Garmin maps, on average, are about 1-2 years out of date. Magellan seems to be about the same and TomTom also. I do know that TomTom is now advertising more frequent updates and better logic behind the routing. (Whether its true or not is unknown) There has also been major bids from Garmin and a few other companies to purchase the mapping software companies. (NavTeq and TeleAtlas) So, to answer your question, I think Garmin has the best logic for routing. TomTom has the best maps. They do get all the maps from the two mappings companies though.
If you want to get into the details, GPSPassion.com or GPSReview.com should be able to assist you.
Good luck and let me know if you find anything useful -

I gave them a call before hand and spoke to a chap there called Richard very helpful. He said he would get an updated delivery date and call me back. He did and followed up with an Email. The delivery date is 10th Dec to them and i will have it the 12th Dec.
the price im gonna pay is £388.93 + postage £6.46 total= £395.39
The money doesnt come off my card until its shipped also i havnt used them before now but on them getting back to me etc i went with them. As for expansys they usually have the goods but they also charge a lot for so-so service.

HTC typically ships GPS enabled phones with a 'Teaser' version of the Nav software which allows you to download one city map for free. After that, you need to pay. I installed a thirp party nav software. My pre-release Cruise arrived with no nav software at all.
Tom Tom are selling maps with 50% off at the moment http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/index.php?Lid=1
Don't know if the version is ok for the Cruise but worth a look

I've just chatted with the nice chap at smart devices and they've just been notified by HTC that they wont be receiving stock until the 18th Jan now.
Seems like this wont be anybodys xmas toy after all
I hope it will be in o2 on contract at the end of jan. (i need to renew contract anyway) it's a shame is not available yet.
In Germany, known as O2-Xda Orbit 2 is officially available (here) since beginning of this month (1-12-2007). Yet the dealer is unable to provide me this at the moment, however, it would be available by next week.
About maps, Orbit 2 also comes with COMPLETE maps for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plus ALL main European roads, all in a very reasonable price package, so seems like an ideal solution for me!
exspansys
Me and my brother ordered one each today, £389.95 - tomtom of one city, but thats not a problem as have copilot that came with my orbit, also the date is now Jan 18th
Im going to wait for the UK o2 release of the polaris, the orbit2, looks real sexy much better than the square htc version.
I've just requested a pre-order from Expansys and I have an availability to ship of January 21st.
I guess it's taking longer and longer. I might as well start looking for a slim hard case for this. Anyone know if there is one for a brand new product?
I don't think there is any case for the cruise just yet but keep us inform if you find one
What is a fair price in the UK for a second-hand xda?
Orange are doing reconditioned Tytyn II's for £130!!! great price if you ask me.
I got a second hand O2 xda orbit on ebay for £129.00 about three weeks ago, very pleased with this price ,untill i saw the contract free offer from orange for a htc trinity and a free mobile phone for about the same price! check out coolsmartphone for details its still on the front page,
the guy above has it wrong unless i'm missing somthing here! its the trinity thats on offer, similare to a tytn but no slide out keyboard and has an on board gps!

just went to the website and folned them up on the freed phone No because I couldn't see the link you mentioned. they said they hadn't released that model yet that you mentioned, and that they didn't do contract free offers, so you can feel better about your bargin again.
