Lately I tried to upgrade my orange spv m500 to the newest rom upgrade available; One was made available by orange on the dutch site www.pocketpcclub.nl.
As I was installing the file the setup proces stopped while trying to upgrade the extended rom.
I tried and tried again, but to no afail. In my dispair i tried to upgrade with a spanish q-tek 1.11 rom. I ofcourse got the country code error and the wrong device id error......
I brought my spv m500 back to the shop; but the technicians couldnt replace the original extended rom.
So now im left with a spv without extended ROM.....
My device settings now are
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
Rom version: 1.12.00 WWE
ExtroM version: (empty field)
I still cant upgrade to the latest Extrom version............
Can anyone help me? Is it still possible to put back a working Ext rom?
Is it a UK M500?
Did you back the original rom up before upgrading?
Have you looked on the ftp site for the original m500 rom?
original Orange dutch Extended ROm version needed?
It's a NL rom(dutch) but I believe it has pretty much the same settings as the UK Version(few exceptions for GPRS settings I believe)
I havent found a original SPV M500 rom that comes with dutch settings.....So I would be very thankfull if somebody could upload such a version to the xda-ftp site.......
Hello,
In the upload directory is the new rom for the SPV M500 Dutch. It is the real Dutch version. After you flash your Magician it has all the settings voor Orange NL even the location is already pre selected.
It's a modified rom for the Imate- Jam, modified by Orange.
If you use the Maupgrade_NoID.exe it will falsh every magician I guess.
It works on my MDA Comapact (PM10A).
And in case that doesn't work, I have the Extended_ROM directory (Dutch) on my pc, so if you want I can send it to you.
(Though I don't think I'll be checking this forum too often, so send an email to draexin AT gmail DOT com)
Good luck ^_^

I was in the middle of a rom upgrade with my magician and the battery has died now after trying to reupgrade with the original imate rom, it gives me a country code error. When I use get device data and view the devicedata.txt file all I get is 2 little squares where there was the operator ID. How can I reinstall the original rom from Imate and have it overwrite the operator ID on the device so I will except the upgrade. I have tried this via SD and with the original upgrade but with no luck. Help is really need please. I know this can be done I just aint sure how to go about doing it. It happen to be with my Qtek 2020 when upgrading to the 2.20 CHS version it changed from Qtek to o2.
Dear fellows,
I am still at a dead point (my S100 is screwed and the OS is gone!)
I have seen several methods listed here to reflash the OS but most of them require the GetDeviceData output file to modify the original ROMs. Unfortunately I can't run anything on my PDA... It would be a great help if a kind S100 owner would run the GetDeviceData on his handset and post the output file for me. Do not worry, it doesn't hold any sensitive data. Just device model details. Any S100 device, any language... would suffice.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Silver.
...at least the Operator for QTEK...
C'mon guys... help me.
Here ya go...
Operator ID: DANGA001
Qtek S100 bought at Dangaard Norway.
Thanks...
...but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe an Italian PDA would be required.
I am afraid I have to send the PDA back to the service...
Maybe you can try the following:
- Set your Qtek in Bootloader mode
- Connect it to your pc
- Start the update program of the Qtek ROM 1.06
- The installer will not find any version of your current ROM because it is in bootloader mode, but it will allow to update it
- flashing...
- done
Hopefully it'll work for you.
And I will test it further, but this looks like the way to update the ROM without editing the ROM files...
The other alternative that worked for me:
I have a Dopod 818 ROM which I screwed up. I can't therefore read its country code with GetDeviceData.
I used the following to flash the i-mate ROM:
http://www.clubimate.com/Support/ma_cdlsku1_wwe_10300_143_10100_ship.exe
Then I upgraded with qtek 1.06 successfully.
it shows
Rom ve: 1.12.00WWE
Radio Ver:1.12.10
Ext Rom:1.12.186WWE
Which rom should i use to upgade it
and whether it is an O2 or Imate it sshows O2mini but it is telstra branded.
i guess it was assembled or something.
can anybody have an idea about it.
What do want to gain with upgrading? You got the most recent O2/Telstra rom. If you insist use this link to get 1.13 http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade.
It's T-Mobile so write down your voicemail & gprs settings! & backup your current ext-rom.

I own a SPV C600 (Dutch). Because of the tight security of the latest Dutch ROM for the C600 I flashed it with the latest QTek 8310.
Now I've tried the latest Cingular ROM for the 2125.
Because the Cingular ROM only supports the English language I want to change it back to the QTek ROM again.
But no matter what I do it keeps saying :
---
ERROR [296] : UPGRADE ONLY
This NBF file cannot be used for your Smartphone. Please get newer NBF file.
---
I did raise the number on the image version, removed the Operator field. Also tried to make al the fields exactly like it shows on the "update screen" before flashing.
Anybody able to help me out here?
Common, where are al those smart people
Posted this als on SPV-Developers, seems like I'm the only one with this problem Now I'm stuck with an English C600
i had a similar problem with an englsh c600 spent ages sorting it, what i did is sent the header with a matching operator id. then i changed every number up by one in both version numbers. this didnt work but then when i only changed the second digit in the first version number by one again the rom loaded.
ie
11.1.1.5 > 12.2.2.6 > 12.3.2.6
i suggest just persist with it. otherwise use spv services to unlock your cid then you can load what you want on your phone.
Thanks for your reply!
I'm using the latest Qtek 8300 ROM now. I don't know if it's the best. But at least it's unlocked
Does any one know how to go around this? I have MDA Compact II and installed GERMAN ROM and now I'm Try to Image it to English ROM. But stuck on ERROR 294
Good if you could tell us what you have done (or trying to do)
E.g.
What are you using to install the English ROM
Where did you get your ROM from
When does the error message appear.
The more info the better.
Okay I have the MDA Compact II with a
ROM-Version: 2.6.2.28 GER
ROM-Datum: 3/9/06
Funkempfängerversion: 02.19.21
Protokoll-Version: 4.1.13.09
ExtROM-Version: 2.6.2.111
I want to install New Charmer Rom available 2.6.2 from UK to have it in Enlgish but when I tried to install I get an error invalid Vendor ID.
Need help.
I presume you are doing the ROM upgrade via the official ROM update facility.
Anyway, for you case, you may need to do it 'unofficially' using aWizard to flash a Charmer old English ROM (available in the FTP is someone didn't delete it) and update it to the new ROM using the official one.
