htc touch troubleshooting -- call issues EVDO to 1x coverage

can anyone help me with my htc touch issue? not sure where else to ask this
i recently started having issues with reception after having NO problems with the touch since it came out. i come home for the day and my phone shows the evdo icon, but people try to call me and my phone doesnt ring, but the caller goes straight to voicemail. then it goes to 1x and my calls/email sync are fine. in order to try and get around this i perform a soft reset. however, when the phone comes back up it goes back to evdo and tries to dial #777 and fails numerous times. i try to make phone calls for the first couple of minutes that the phone is on, and they immediately terminate before im able to connect. the phone then goes into 1x and i can get data and make phone calls.
it isnt necessarily a problem with evdo connectivity itself, as when im at work i can get phone calls and data with evdo.
i did a hard reset and the only thing i've installed is a touchpal keyboard, but the problem is still occurring.
i called sprint and did a prl update from my house, and the tech support person said im in an area where coverage shouldnt be an issue. even with the prl update, im still having a problem.
this is very frustrating because i am missing important calls from business contacts.

Can any rom developer fix the next FROYO bug? (Google bug number:11346)

This bug occurs on all Froyo roms (I tested it on:CM6, geo411m, evil, enomther, modaco and Google stock rom)
When I'm in a area with 0 signal (It means I cannot do any call) the signal status bar displays 2 or 3 levels, incorrectly.
I checked it on about 6 existing Froyo roms, on my Nexus One device and this bug occurs on all roms, includes the google official stock rom.
Please see the attched screenshot.
We tested it on some different nexus devices and it occurs on all these devices. My device version is Nexus One version: 110 (AT&T version).
Here is the screenshot of the bug:
******* (I cannot add the link because my account is new :/ )
I opened a new bug about it for Google, but can any developer fix it?
Here is the bug I opened for Google:
***** (I cannot add the link because my account is new :/ )

Can you(the members of the forum also mark the bug with star, in order to promote the priority of the bug?
It's absolutely impossible to work with an OS that displays a wrong signal status. You never know if you really have signal or not :/
I backed to 2.1 because this bug.
Thanks to all.
Robert
I think this is more radio then ROM related, and I don't have this problem on my Nexus one. No signal=0 bars.
But you could try to flash the so called Korean radio(see Nexus android development forum ), to see if that changes anything.
Hello Robert
That is normal even in old phones. It is not a bug!!!
That signal strengh is real and correct.
The explanation is simple, when your SIM card can not reach to any of the base stations (antennas) of your provider, we generally say that you lost the signal and you can not make any calls. BUT for emergency purposes, your phone connects to the strongest available antenna of other providers (again, only when you can not reach the ones from your provider) to allow you to make emergency calls. That is why (at least in europe) when we lose the signal of our phones, usually in 95% of the cases it will still say "Only emergency calls 112 allowed".
So the signal bars you get are in reallity the signal bars of the antenna you are connected to make emergency calls. So no bug and actually it is useful, it would make no good if you try to disable that.
You will not get any bars for the signal when you are not even able to make emergency calls.

Hi Bulltza,
Thank you very much for this detailed answer...I checked it and you right...
I still think this is not a good feature because when I am in a area with no signal and I see that there is some levels in the status bar, it confuse me and I don't know that I cannot get incomming calls.
anyway thank you for the answer.
YoMark, thank you too for your help
Its not really a bug man They only should add a icon or a notification for Emergency Calls Only. If u dont want this feature u are veryr stupid Emergency Calls! We need them

What's the relation to be stupid or not?!
It seems that you are the stupid here that didn't understand what I mean and call me stupid!!!!!
Did I write anywhere that I don't want the Emergency Call?!?! I wrote that it is impossible to work with an OS where you see that you "have signal" but in actual you don't know that you cannot get incomming calls.
Learn to understand and give respect to your colleagues instead calling them stupid and other!

Cell Phone Service Issues

Hey guys. I have the new XDAndroid 11/8 update and it seems to working great. I have had an issue that started before that update and it is pretty bad. Every time I make a call, it says dialing, the 3G logo disappears and then it says call ended and the 3G icon comes back. The whole time, the bars for my service are bouncing between none and full. It has the same problem with text messaging. Data seems to be working fine. I can get on the marketplace and get emails and such. It just started randomly and I don't know what may have caused it. Thanks for any help you can give.
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 activated on Boost Mobile.
It does the same thing in Windows Mobile so maybe it's an issue with Boost Mobile or a hardware issue? I go to text or call and the service will bounce between full bars and none and sometimes it will switch to roaming mode.

Disconnecting during calls - is it me?

Whenever I make a phone call, for some reason the phone almost always disconnects the call, this is the 2nd nexus I've had, first was replaced due to poor GPS lock - this issue has happened with both phones?
Could I be touching something accidentally during the call causing it to disconnect?
Got me baffled this, if I can't sort it the phone will have to go
Call disconnected automaticaly

As you said this your 2nd Nexus, tell me one thing, Are you using a Wi-Fi network for your call and you leave the Wi-Fi coverage area, your call might disconnect. Try the following actions:
Make the call using the mobile network instead of a Wi-Fi network.
Move back into the Wi-Fi coverage area, and try making your call again.
or If not, then might be its your telecom provider problem.:good:
I don't you are touching something accidentally. My guess would be a poor network connection.

Problems while calling and not able to receive calls

Hi, I own an N5 and I'm absolutely in love with it, and thus have recommended it to anyone asking which phone to buy next, now my father, who has never even used a touch enabled display went and bought one.
His N5 has a weird problem and I cant figure it out since I live quite far away from my parents and troubleshooting with someone over the phone is hard already but even harder with some one who doesn't know ANYTHING about phones or computers. Maybe some of you could shed some light on this?
He says that he can't receive any calls or messages, but make them fine. I should add that he has a weird GSM plan which allows him to use 2 SIMs simultaneously in 2 different phones, when you call him both phones receive the call, this thing is called multi-sim here in Finland and is only provided by one operator, I know that he has a data plan and everything so it should work as he has used it before with 2 different Nokias and with only one phone and the other SIM in a 3G usb modem.
When he has both phones on (the second one being an old Nokia brick) only the Nokia receives calls but both phones are capable of making calls, when only the nokia is on, nothing can be done. no call making or receiving and when only the N5 is on, no calls received but can be made.
He also added that when he makes a call with his N5 (while the nokia is turned on) a icon appears in the notification bar, next to the clock, battery and cellular signal indicators. Since he doesn't know much of PCs or phones he didn't know what the icon meant but described it as a "pie slice with horizontal lines through it" which I suppose could mean WIFI? right? If it indeed is WIFI then why does it only appear while making a call and dissapear when the call is terminated? He is using his mobile data (3G only) and does not have wifi turned on... this is what confused me the most.
So anyone with some idea why a wifi like icon appears while calling with a phone that is only capable of making calls, not receiving them, please help me I'll be visiting my parent this friday and will then be able to look at his phone but until then hes out of luck if none of you guys have any good ideas.
OH and a last mention, when he bought the phone (brand new) it worked flawlessly for a few hours, he made a few calls, received some and even got 2 text messages, so the phone and the SIM card have worked earlier, the fault isn't "out of the box"
EDIT: Just a thought, if he has managed to enable wifi calling in the settings would that cause this kind of behaviour? Just remembered that since 4.4 its right there at the bottom of the settings in the phone app, he could easily have tapped it by mistake since he just basically taps anything he find on his new and cool phone
