MDA2 Carkit is silent after upgrading ROM - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Hi,
I've got a problem with my carkit (O2 XDA-Carkit) after I upgrade to the new ROM-Version of T-Mobile (1.60).
With the old Rom-Version, the carkit works as a loadspeaker for all kind of sound. The voice-instructions from tomtom for example, came out of the carkit-speaker loud and clearly. Each kind of sound, the device made, came out of the speaker of the carkit.
Now, after upgrading to the new ROM, only the telephone works with the speaker of the carkit. With Incoming or outgoing calls I can use the carkit as usual...the speaker works and the mikro works also. But every other sound (e.g. tomtom voice-instructions) came direktly out of the speaker of the mda2 in a poor quality.
Some hints, how I could use my carkit again as a speaker for all kind of sound without goinig back to the old ROM ?
Any other kind of hints...maybe to use a bluetooth headset therefor (so that all kind of sound came out of the headset....not only telephone...I've got a Plantronics Headset...but also only the telephone works)
thx for help
best regards
rob.

Yep.......I have the same problem here.......don't know why they changed settings on the handsfree profile here.
Another thing you will find out is that the charging is very slow on the XDA carkit with the XDA II. If you run TomTom, Yeti and a bright screen the xda II will not charge, but drain!!
It has something to do with the wiring of the interface, but unless someone will come up with a solution I will go for a new carkit or a BT solution. (It's a bloody shame though it doesn't work properly with the XDA carkit! )

Hi,
the charging-problem is also a mess.
I think, the problem is only the GPS-driver from tomtom. In my tests, only when the GPS-driver is loaded, the battery-power goes down. With stopping the GPS-driver, the battery will charge again, but only, if the battery-power is more than about 75 - 80%.
If the battery is less than 75%, it will not charge at all, even if, there is no App runnung and the screen is off.
You said, you will go for a new carkit or bluetooth-solution. Do you know a carkit or bluetooth-solution, wich offers the feature, that all sounds (tomtom instuctions...etc.) came out of a loadspeaker or thru a headset (without connecting the wired headphone ;-)
As far as I know, at the moment all devices works only with the telephone-funktion....
best regards
rob.

Same here,
i have build my own carkit, and have put ground to pin 19,
sound was normally going though the connector to my car stereo
now it doenst anymore
I am sure this isnt a hardware thing it is software
could be the settings on the handsfree profile. on the xda2...
this is very very frustrating. just being finished with my carkit and now i cant use it anymore
also you cant set the phone to speakermode anymore..

I am sure this isnt a hardware thing it is software
could be the settings on the handsfree profile. on the xda2...

Does anybody know how to change this back?

I found that the registry points to a certain file in your windows directory: HandsFree_Dll.dll
(I found this here: HKLM\Services\Handsfree)
Can someone with the old 1.03 ROM please upload this file so i can try if this solves the problem...
TIA,
Max

Akira, Max :
I am building my own car kit, and have no success.
I do not obtain audio out with or without grounding pin 19.
I'm running Rom 1.60.00WWE.
Did you solve your problem ??

I must correct my last update.
I obtain audio when in phone mode, but not during playing waves or TomTom directions. Even Ring Tones do not go out trough the bottom connector.
So is it a software problem ?
Can it be corrected ?

Problems with Plantronics M3000 and QTEK 2020

I have bought a Plantronics M3000 bluetooth headset for my QTEK 2020. I have no problems pairing, calling and answering. However the headset just shuts off after a few minutes of conversation. It doesn't just cut the conversation but shuts off. I can make multiple short calls but nothing longer than 3/4 minutes. It works, however, without problems on my wife's Ericsson T68. Anyone can help ? Thanks.
Marek
Hello,
I have the MDA2 (same as QTek2020) and a Plantronics M3000 and It's been working just fine.
The problem you describe it's very weird since you mentioned that the headset works fine with your wife's mobile, and that makes me think that your QTek has some sort of problem with the Bluetooth stack or hardware.
It may be well worth to try (if possible) another headset just to make sure that is not the M3000 fault.
Do you see any type of error or message on the screen at the time of disconnection?
Does it always cut the conversation at the exact same moment?
Does the problem match the time the QTek takes to power save?
Any other clues?
Thanks.
I did not have the occasion to test another BT headset on the Qtek. When it shuts down there isn't any message displayed.
I have no problems with the BT stack (with the Pocket Bluetooth Tools patch) when using it with a BT GPS (Emtac) receiver, it works for hours.
However, your suggestion that it might happen when the Qtek goes in energy saving mode is interesting. I will check that tomorrow.
I'll post the result.
Hi
I seem to have a similar poblem after installing pocket bluetooth tools!.
I use a Jabra BT 250..and I noticed that the headset just mutes during the call..
I am generally used to switching off the display of the XDA after placing the call to power save ...
So I discovered that the headset would mute whenever i switch off the xda after making the call (which it never did prior to installing PBT)!
any thoughts on that?
maybe it has to do with the auto switch off plugin?
Actually I just experienced that too...
If I place (or answer a call) the next time I try to use the phone via the BT headset I notice the BT headset was turned off... Yeah, it could be related to the Powersave feature on the today plugin that PBT installs as a plugin...
Need to investigate...
Best regards,
Rayan
Both my bt headsets have stopped working since installing pocket bluetooth tools latest version, I have reverted back to version 1005 and everything is fine. I have a sony-ericsson EBH-65 and a skypower clip on headset.
my platronics does the same also its annoying you cant even transfer the call back to the device you have to hand up turn off bt and then turn it abck on and headset mode back on it also does the same on my pc
when im on msn using it as a headset it just d/c and i have to turn it off and turn it back on again
dont see what the problem is
btw the range on the xda2 and platronics is amazing i had it on my bedrooms desk and i went outside it passed through the living room wall and the patio window and i was stood 5m down my garden im sure it would of been over 10m and it was still working if i kept still when i moved it went crackly but ah well lol
just hope someone sorts the prob out
Hi,
I was having the same problem with the M3000. I just had confirmation from Plantronics that this problem is a bug in the product that occurs with the XDA II. I am currently in the process of returning the product.
Regards...Mike
Same problem M3000 doesn't work. Give up now before too much frustration makes you feel ill.
Try the Hello 2 headset. Work with my Aussie XDA2 and is very small and lightweight. Even had a neck chain to carry it around like a USB drive.

Jabra BT-800 not working w Qtek 2020 WM2003SE

I bought the Jabra BT-800 headset for 119 EUR and was hoping to enjoy the headset w/o getting my PPC out of my pocketst.
Well that didnt work out. Pairing was easy, and after switching on the headset (in profile on today screen) I could call with it. The only thing is, I cannot get the call list on the headset to work. It doesnt show any numbers at all, and i wonder how its supposed to work anyway.
That being said, I also don't get to see who's calling me when using the headset.
1) Incoming call.... PPC rings..
2) After a few seconds the headset backlight switches on showing "Jabra BT-800" (standard text). I do not get to see who's calling me on my headset.
3) When listening to the ring tone on headset, after a second or two I get a really annoying sqreaking sound and that stays on till I accept the call or hang up.
So it is not working for me. Besides the headset does not stay on my ear correctly. I have small ears and it is really uncomfortable.
I have Qtek 2020 with Windows Mobile 2003 SE ROM (downloaded from this forum), ROM version 2.06.00WWE, Radio 1.18.00, Protocol 1337.38, ExtROM 2.06.100a
The Jabra BT-800 does not do what they say it's supposed to do.
Anyone else got these problems or solutions? Ciao
R.
me too
Same problem... They say it is also capable of BT voice dialing. I hate the way it takes so long to answer calls.
I am going to find out if the sony ericson ones work.. Then get that. The reception on the BT800 is great though.

Lucky you to get that far
After the upgrade to the Diamond 1.2 I have tried to bond my Bluespoon Digital. That was very easy and everything works fine, exept a call not is trasferred to the headset. I have tried both stacks, and I have tried it with the Sony Ericsson HBH 65. It simply doesn't work at all.
Does anybody have suggestions to what to do??
bluetooth headset not bonding

Hi , I had smae problem with new I.Tech clip headset.
It's ok now as I downloaded the POcket Bluetotth Tools from this link:

Now it's ok for incoming and outgoing calls...
Cheers..

Thanks for the link!
I had a problem with my Jabra BT250 after the WM upgrade. The mic and speaker remained active on the device, and the earpeice on my headset was active, but not the headset mic. The BT Tools did the trick.
Thanks
Jabra BT800 & XDA ii
Hi there,
The Jabra BT800 isnt compatable with the XDA ii (check www.jabra.com)
I owned this headset and had exactly the same problems, i now own the Jabra BT200 and it works perfectly
The BT800 needs a phone with bluetooth handsfree profile to be able to use the advanced features like caller id. Xda II as standard has only bluetooth headset profile.
I'm not sure about the 2003SE rom some of you guys are using, but I've tried it with the Buzz WM2K5 rom (thanks buzz et al) and this DOES give it the bluetooth handsfree profile it needs.
BUT...
It seems Jabra's idea of caller id is to only pass the number across, and not the name. So for those of us that don't have a photographic memory its pretty useless. This isn't restricted to Xda's either. I tried a couple of Nokia phones that are 'compatible' according to www.jabra.com and these do exactly the same. Number shows on the jabra screen but no name, even though the phone is showing both.
I emailed Jabra about it and they acknowledge it is an issue. They also tell me there is an issue with numbers in international format in that they fail to pass the + sign across, so you can't ring out from the call list.
JD
Ya need 2.20 translated to have a working Hands Free profile.. BT800 needs hands free profile.
Caller ID still only displays if the number is a virgin to your system.. I think HBH662 will work with 2.20.
2005 may work with no problems too.

Raphael + Bluetooth + car stereo

I'm having problems using my Raphael in combination with a JVC KT-BT1 car stereo.
When, for example, I'm running TomTom, and the phone is connected to the car stereo, all sound is sent to the car stereo through A2DP. No problems there, BUT: the start of each route description is cut off. It looks like the connection has to be set up every time TomTom says something.
One way to solve this is to keep for example a media player running in the background, so that the A2DP connection 'stays alive'. This is however obviously not a nice way to fix this.
I must say that I've had the very same problem with my previous phone (N95), so I'm kind of suspecting it to be a stereo's problem. However, I do hope someone else has come across this issue and knows how to fix this.
Is there a 'A2DP_keep_alive = true' setting somewhere?
Thanks!
There was a setting for this afaik, it is somewhere in the Hermes section. I tried it, but it has a downside as well (although maybe there's a fix for that as well). It has to do with redirecting sound over bluetooth and keeping that connection open.
Having a carkit myself, I wanted to use it like this: the radio plays and whenever a direction is needed, tomtom would announce it via the car speakers. However, in my case, when tomtom announces via the speakers, the radio mutes as the carkit takes over.
When using the hack where the "connection" is kept open, the carkit takes over all the time, which basically means no music from the radio.
If your carkit can work alongside the radio at the same time, then maybe this is a solution for you.
Check out (in hermes forum, so not 100% if it works for Raphael):

or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300268 (which refers to BTaudio: http://www.davidmays.com/blog/?postid=6 )
If there's a better fix I'd like to know as well.
Thanks, but unfortunately it didn't change a thing.
If there's so few people having this problem, I'm really suspecting my car kit...
I have a parrot CK3100 btw, so it happens with a different carkit as well.

Nokia CK-7W with Diamond, it works!

Well, this is not really a question or problem. But just a headsup that the Diamond works just fine with my Nokia CK-7W.
However it would also be nice to hear from you guys (and girls) as well, since I can't imagine I'm the only one with succes!
You might wonder "Why the hell do you post this?!". Well, that's simple because when I wanted to find out whether that Nokia carkit would work together with the Diamond I coulnd't find anything.
And since my experiences with Nokia carkits and HTC phones weren't all that good (read: BAD, lots of echo and weird connection problems) I was pretty anxious to give this a try.
After testing it on another CK-7W, which was already built in a car, I figured it worked perfectly so I took the plunge and got one for my car.
(Before you ask, why no parrot or other brand? I was able to get my hands on this one really cheap.)
The only problem I got was the first time I wanted to pair the device. Every time after entering the 4 digit passcode I got a message saying the passcode was incorrect. Instantly, not even trying to connect. After leaving it all alone for 10-15 minutes and I tried to connect again it suddenly worked without any problems. And it's still working with no issues at all.
ROM I use:
SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V7.5
OS Version: CE 5.2.20755 (Build 20755 AKU 1.4.0)
Base ROM Version: 1.93.405.1 UK WWE
So.. more succes stories here? Or problems?
Hi
I have the same setup, Nokia CK-7W in my volvo s60 connected to my MDA Compact IV running swiftbldade 7.5.
It all works perfect.
I even have MS Voice command setup with it and it annonuces incoming callers and messages perfectly and voice dialling works perfect as well.
Call quality is very good as well.
Shaks
Hey - I've got my CK-7W working fine too, except I'd like to also enable wireless stereo... but the option doesn't seem to exist... I bought the CK-7W off a friend, and he was able to use wireless stereo, but I cn't - has anyone else had any success...?
Relly something I want for using TomTom, etc...
Hi i have CK-7W car kit and I am having problems getting my Diamond to pair can you please advise how you guys paired your ones?
Can't say anything more than I just used the normal way to pair, go to bluetooth settings, search for device and select the carkit + enter correct passcode.
I did however have some problems in the beginning. It would find the carkit but after entering the passcode it said pairing failed.
But when I tried later again it went without a problem, and it paired everytime without a problem ever since.
I dont think the ck-7w supports stereo audio. There are however apps that can route the audio over the carkit. BTAudio is one called if I remember correctly. That way you can have the tomtom over the carkit, but quality isn't that good really.
And some say that using that audio routing also gives 'problems' sometimes, as in it sometimes seems like there is audio (e.g. the car radio is muted) but you don't hear anything for a few secs. So that can be quite annoying.
hmmm??? My diamond wont even pick up the car kit during the search!
I had some problems pairing in the first place...
Don't try to search for the car-kit using the phone, just have your Diamond on BT visible to others, and the car-kit will try to connect automatically... I think you might need to hold the button on the car-kit down for like 10 seconds for it to search, but definately let the kit find the phone, not the other way around...
I fitted one of these to my brother in law's car the other day. Tested it with my diamond, but i expected it to be cross compatible.
Bit offtopic, but what's the advantage compared with a just as pricy parrot system?
Hi Y'all,
I am using my Diamond with the nokia CK-7W and it works fine as well. Paired up without much fuss....

Eh.. none? I find the quality better compared to my old ck3300 parrot carkit. However, this one doesnt have a small lcd display or something. Not that I missed the lcd screen though, but sure was a nice feature.
Best thing about the parrot was that it's possible to put a new firmware on it. Could make them a little bit more 'future-proof'.
Nokia CK-7W with HTC Touch Diamond2, VITO VoiceDialer
Pairing the device was easy. In coming calls are working. Push on the carkit button and I can answer the call.
The problem that I have is that I can't do a voice call. If I push on the carkit button nothing happens. I would have expected that the VoiceDialer app would be started and I could make a voice call. The VoiceDialer app works without bluetooth.
Has anyone an idea how I get voice dialing working?
Remark:
With my pervious cell phone Motorola L6 was this possible. Pushed on the carkitt button, wait on the beep, say the name, when recognized it repeats the name and the number was dialed by the phone.

Bluetooth hands free with Diamond GPS

Okay, I have searched and cannot find anything on this exact topic, so hear I go. Has anyone used a bluetooth handsfree car kit with the Diamond while using the internal GPS? I realize that you should be able to but with all of the issues people are having with the GPS and having to uncheck "receive all incoming beams" and all I thought it a good idea to check. I tried to use a bluetooth hands free with my bluetooth GPS on my Touch and realized that when a call comes in it looses satelite signal. I am hoping that I can use a bluetooth hands free with the Diamond (waiting for Rogers in Canada to get it) because I hear the built in speaker sucks.
Thanks in advance, Wayne>
Wow, 68 views and not one person has used a bluetooth hands free car kit with the GPS
Hi I have used GPS and bluetooth hands free at the same time no problems. Only issue I have had is when using Duttys rom with the experimental bluetooth drivers, and using gps, and on a phone call both me and the person on the other end of the call have heard the directions. I have moved to another ROM and don't have any problems.
I have connected the Diamond to my bluetooth radio and it works in hands-free mode without problems.
Navigating with TomTom and receiving or making calls at the same time is absolutely no problem.
EDIT: I use the official O2 1.93 German rom
Can you please confirm something for me - when i use TOMTOM with my bluetooth car unit there is a lag off a few seconds. E.g. instead of hearing you have reached your destination, it cuts off the first bit and all i can hear is destination. There is also a delay in the ringer. Is this ROM related? If i switch ROMs will it resolve this for me?
I have connected my phone via bluetooth to my car radio, but TomTom uses the phone's internal speaker, as my radio does not support A2DP, but only hands-free. Through the internal speaker the directions are without any lag.
Incoming calls are signalled on my radio after a short lag (1 second or so). I guess that is normal behaviour though.
what a bummer that is - it renders tomtom useless via a bluetooth device. my unit is a JVC AVX-33 which supports A2DP. So basically when tomtom says turn left in 100 yards etc, because of the lag i dont get to hear it. I have more like a 4 second lag
Is that also the case when you're streaming music over bluetooth to the radio while using TomTom?
Because I was also thinking about getting an A2DP capable radio for my car for this scenario. But if there is such a lag, TomTom would be completely useless over BT.
I have no problems with music at all. No lag what so ever. Looking back now, it just appears to be system sounds, which includes tomtom. When I change ringtone and click play, there is also a lag at that point
That's strange.
You could try Advanced Config and change some of the BT settings to see if that helps, though I don't see why system sounds lag and music does not.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this problem?
I'd be grateful!
I have tried this solution without any luck
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=262119
Have you perhaps tried connecting your Diamond to another radio or other device that supports the A2DP profile?
Perhaps a PC or notebook with bluetooth?
You could then verify that it is indeed a problem with the phone itself and not with the radio.
I have the Supertooth Hands Free Kit, and it works pretty fine. I pair it, then start a connection, click two time on the Supertooth Button, and I even get the sounds of all Apps over the Hands free kit (GPS too).
For me it works fine.
I had no trouble with my Parrot kit and the Diamond running TomTom both with the Vodafone rom and 3rd party one from here. I have the trimmed voice commands using my Touch Dual but no such issue on the diamond. Navigation prompts come from the phones internal speaker and not my car kit.
That's interesting Blackfear gets GPS prompts through hands freee but wseed does not. The only reason I am considering getting a hands free unit is because I have heard the Diamond has a bad speaker. I was hoping to get all sound through the bluetooth speaker phone.

Really, that is not what I wanted to hear. Are you using a bluethooth hands free, and if so which one? How can it affect the internal GPS? My problem was because I was asking the phone to communicate with the bluetooth GPS, and the bluetooth hands free while announcing turns and phone conversation. I was hoping the internal GPS of the Diamond would not be affected at all by a bluetooth hands free.

I'am using a bluetouch handsfree set and as navigation tomtom 7. When a phonecall comes in, i have no satelites till i drop the call. Maybe this is a problem with my not standard skippy rom, but i don't know if this happens with the standard rom.

I just tested this, because i was curious - i never noticed this.
And i can confirm, answering a call with a BT handsfree while navigating. It doesn't affect the GPS. I can even stream music via A2DP to my car stereo at the same time, i hear the music and navigation instructions loud and clear without lag trough my car speakers.
So this problem might be ROM-related, not hardware... I hope this is good news
The ROM i use is the official one from HTC website : "_HTC Touch Diamond_QMR_RUU_Diamond_HTC_NLD_1.93.404.1_Radio_S igned_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe"
The BT headset i use is a Jabra BT350
I stream A2DP to a small BT audio receiver, Sony MBR-100
I hope this helps!
edit :
I read somewhere in this topic about a lag trough the A2DP connection.
I actually can tell how much lag there is : 400 msec. Totally acceptable for Tom Tom i think..
I know this, because sometimes i use TCPMP for watching video's in the car, e.g. at McDonalds and i have to set the audio delay in TCPMP to -400 msec to get it lipsync
Thanks, Aldo it's not a big problem for me with my build in navigation system, it's nice to know that it's rom related.
