Does any BT headset work properly with XDA II ?

I have a Jabra freespeak BT250 on order but from the threads it doesn't seem like its worth the hassle (problems maintaining the connection, lost calls etc) . Any recommendations for a BT headset that works flawlessly with XDA II. :?:

The problem in this case is not the headset

Even though its not perfect, don't despair.
Bluetooth is worth it - and I'm sure they'll get a patch out soon.
That is one reason everyone if beefing about it here - hoping O2 and T-Mobile are listening. :wink:

Yes, I bought a jabra 200 with my XDA-II.... ok so when ever the headset is turned off or most of the time when it is recharged you have to rebind the BT connection.... so what I say, I love it and cant be without it.

I'm using the Plantronics M3000 which works very well (no binding problems). The only functionality that doesn't work (and I guess the PPC doesn't implement it) is press the call button twice to redial the last number. Aside from this it picks up calls/ends calls perfectly, has 8 hours of talktime and only cost £45.

i use HBH 30 from Sony Ericsson no binding problemes, it works perfectly, just voice command is missing, may be next XDA generation ...

I have the Jabra BT 200 and I can get all the incoming calls to work fine but I cant get it to work with any outgoing calls. After i dial the number and it connects, I press the button on the headset but it wont transfer the call. I have the headset profile enabled in the today screen. Has anyone gotten both incoming and outgoing calls to work with the BT200?

I use the Sony Ericsson HBH-65, and this combination works like a dream!!!

Oh well. Flawed wireless is better than wired anyday for me :lol:

Don't press the button on the headset when making the outgoing call. If you use the green button, it should show something like "headset in use - press here to select phone" in a popup (I have the German version, so I don't know the exact english text it shows).
You should then hear the voice over the headset.
If you press the button on the headset it basically terminates the call.

Ok....Thats strange....I was going to try what tbd had suggested but now it just works without touching anything!!! Now whenever I initiate a call it AUTOMATICALLY sends it to he headset without me touching the green button or the headset. It also transfers it very fast. I don't know why it didn't work yesterday but it does now.

GOOD choice!
I am using it now, and it is REALLY GREAT!
The speaker quality is the best , the mic quality is not very good in noisy / windy environment (same as almost all bluetooth headset), because it is not directly pointing to your mouth, but works perfectly in a quiet environment.
I love it very very much!

Just received my QTEK 2020 and Cellink BT Headset (BTHS6023) 9 grammes only.
Working perfectly I can answer to an incoming call by pressing the button on the headset.
When dialing a number automatically the headset goes on to be able to speak throw the headset without pressing a any button on the headset.
To hang on any call just press 2 seconds the headset button.and the line is cut.
GPRS with french orange is OK. I have not tested a VPN, but with my ancient IPAQ 3870+GPRS jackett I could manage to do it.

I have been using a Jabra BT 250 for a week now and it works flawless.
I don't know where the mentioned problems come from, but I cannot share them. Very comfortable, very good sound, 8 hrs. talktime and 200 hrs standby and the headset profile works fine with my MDA II.

I also have the Plantronics M3000, and guys I have to say something it’s better than my Jabra BT 200, the voice quality is really excellent. Concerning the bonding issue; well if I turn the M3000 off I have to create a new bonding all over (same case wt Jabra), so I am a little surprised how it works for you? :roll:
It would have been great if the redial feature would work :lol: , but as it seems it’s a problem with the Imate rather the headset.

Been using the SE HBH35 with my Imate and works just fine. Good reception and easy to bond

Been using the Jabra BT200 headset from my old XDA kit with no problems at all. Absolutely flawless performance. I was expecting to have to buy another headset. Have also tested the XDAII with the BT250 (no problems) & Motorola HS810 (no problems). Had problems with the Nokia HB-2 headset (binding issues wouldn't stay connected)

Has to be Jabra BT 250
the Jabra Freespeak 250 works perfectly.
NO PROBLEMS what so ever.

expensive but perfect.
I have had no problems while using it. None.
Hands free profile would be good on the XDA2 tho as the 250 is compatible.

JABRA BT200/XDAII Reconnect/Bonding problems

I have been using a JABRA BT200 Headset with my XDAII and have always had the same problem, once the BT200 has been paired with the XDAII it works fine but once I put the headset into it's charging cradle and then remove it and try to use it again it always loses it's bond, the only way I can get it to communicate with the XDAII again is to pair it again.
I don't know whether the problem lies with the BT200 or the XDAII
Does anyone else have this problem ???

it was just recently that i was able to figure out the bt-xda2 bonding; thanks to some helpful chaps in the forum. in the process; i did some research within several topics and read something which may answer your query. when the headset is back in it's cradle; i believe it's "turned off" or is put into inactive mode. the forum message i read indicated that the bonding is lost once the headset is turned off; thus you have to bond again. yes, i have had similar experiences while figuring out the bonding issue. i just keep the bt200 i have out of the cradle; when the time comes to charge it i then holster it and repeat the bonding process once it's charged. i don't think it's a problem with neither devices; it's the default setting i believe. with luck probably the xda-developer guys will come up with a bug fix for this item. which could also include using bt for other than the phone function...like mp3....hint! hint!

Towa's gps patch has nothing to do with this...
I'm not sure what you are talking about, but Towa's patch will not solve the Jabra BT200 issue. The more important question to look at here is what version of BT200 you have. If you look on your Jabra BT200 right next to the microphone, there is a combination of letters and numbers, what does yours say? I think the problem has to do with issues in the firmware in the Jabra that were fixed in later versions.
It's usually 2 numbers and a letter on the boom to the Microphone.
I have a 47A and it does not work at all. Also tested a 48A and it doesn't work either.

mine's a 48b. works fine.

Cool, just so we are talking about the same thing, you can turn off the Jabra BT200, and turn it back on, and it still works with the phone? You can charge the headset in it's charger and pull it out and it still works? You can go out of range and then back in range and it still works? You can press the answer phone button on the headset when no call is in progress and then try to make a call and things still work?
Please try these various things and let me know.
I know that the A models are from 2002, and the B models are 2003. So it is possible if yours works with all these scenarios that they fixes or changed something in the 2003 models that allow them to work.

I recently purchased a BT 250 with nr. 44B and indeed it works with all the tests you described. (Don't need the BT GPS patch for that)
If only the advanced Headset Profile features would work with the MDA II I would be in heaven...........

Ok, it seems based on feedback I've gotten from several people that any Jabra Freespeak that has a "B" as the last part of it's version number will work correctly, but the "A" models do not. The "B" models according to Jabra are the most recent, and thought they don't admit it, there must have been a change in the firmware that allows the "B" units to work correctly with an XDA2/MDA2/i-Mate that the "A" units don't support.

I have a "B" on mine and the same problem of rebonding when Jabra is shut off. I experimented by turning off bluetooth on the i-mate and it still worked. Anyone have ideas of a good headset that will not need rebonding?

I have problems with mine too and its a 16B. Turn the BT headset off and its rebond time again.....

48B works fine for me... can't everyone else just use TOWA's patch... that fixed the problem for others

16B is no good. I've been told that minumum needed is 19B. Below 19B is bluetooth 'handsfree' not 'headset'.

Towa's patch has nothing to do with this. It will not help in this situation. It only applies to Bluetooth Serial Profile, of which the Jabra has none. I have talked to Towa via email to confirm this. For those that installed Towa's patch and said it works, more than likely they didn't have the problem anyway because of the version of Jabra they had.

I have just purchased a BT200 off Ebay, the number on the boom is 20B. No problems works well , no rebonding problems. Just one wish, it would work with voice. But I will keep praying!

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing problems using your JABRA BT200 headset in conjunction with your O2 XDA II.
However, having tested the JABRA BT200 headset with the XDA II, we have encountered the following problems.
When completed charging the headset you will need to synchronise the Headset and the Audio Gateway in your XDA II.
Please follow the steps below:
Select Bluetooth menu> Select Off> Select OK (BT is now disconnected)
Return to desktop (Today view)> Disable BT HS mode> Enable BT HS mode (User
to be prompted to turn On BT radio)>Select OK
Enter BT menu> Select On> Select OK (The XDA II returns to the "Today" view
and will try to synchronise with the HS again.
Check connection by establishing an outgoing call. If no sync - you will need
to re-pair the two devices)

i have two devises an I95cl for nextel not blue tooth and the imate pc phone. i would like if possible to use one headset ?? the bt 2002.5 says it will work for bt phones also?? but will it work at the same time ?? hope iam clear...iam a baby here can you tell

Bluetooth headsets - sequence of operation

I decided to open a new thread although there were several threads on the use of bluetooth headsets. My intent is to explore whether there is a particular sequence that we need to follow when operating the XDAII and BT headset. I am using a Ericsson HBH-65.
First observation:
I notice that I need to end all calls via the bluetooth headset rather than from the XDAII. If I end a call using the XDAII (ie depressing the red button), for subsequent calls whether incoming or outcoming, I cannot use the headset. There is no connection between the 2. I seem to be able to simulate this almost 99% of the time.
Second observation:
I normally switch off my BT headset overnight for charging purposes etc. At the same time I deactivate the BT settings on my XDAII.
The next morning, I would activate the BT settings, BT profiles and then switch on my headset.
I notice that for the first call I made/receive the next day, I will have problems using the headset. I am not quite sure whether it is the case that I need to switch on my BT headset first and then the XDAII BT settings and BT profiles. I say this as to resolve the problem, I seemingly need to deactivate/activate the BT profile settings before it works and then for subsequent calls I would have no problems using the headset. This needs further testing to test my hypothesis.
Anyone notice anything different on their part.

I have had the HBH-65 and have noticed the same issues. I have also had an Logitech and did not have any problems with that.. I am guessing the issue is with the firmware on the HBH-65.

I use Bluetake GII with my xda2. No sequence, no problems. I never even think about switching it on or off. Works in any sequence. Nice looking too! :wink:

I have a Jabra 250, and I do not have to follow any ritual to have it to work fine

I have a Logitech Bluetooth headset with my Qtek 2020 (rom 1.60.21), and it works like crap.
First of all, the headset wont turn on/off sometimes.
Second - if its turned on, and the qtek has been turned off, i need to reconnect it, to switch automatticly when recieving a call.
Thirdly - both speak and hear is very poor quality/fare away (very silent) even though ive turned the volume to maxx.

BT Headset - Works Flawlessly
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-30 headset and I never give the slightest thought to sequences or procedures. I can turn the headset on and off, the profile on and off, even the BT stack on and off - without ever having to re-bond or anything else.
Now if I could just voice-dial a call with the bloody thing I would be truly happy indeed.

Same problems but getting it figured out
I have the HBH-65 and it seems to work fine now that I've hopefully figured it out. I do a few things. First, I leave the Bluetooth on, on my i-Mate. Second, once it's in range I've noticed it takes about a minute for it to link up. When it links it either makes a single beep (if I just turned on the Headset) or a quiet click if it was already on. I doesn't work ALL of the time, but the more I use it the better it gets. I really expected it to be a little easier.

I have the HBH-200 with call display...which the salesman assured me that it would work with my XDA 2! Call display does not work, and if I end a call on the O2 the headset will hang. Other than that it's great!

I Have a XDAII and a HBH-35
They key to it seems to be not to turn anything off ! it's really frustrating when you think it's all linked up and then get in the car only to recieve a call and not be able to answer it with the headset.
If I have turned the headset off it's a right pain to bond again, red, green lights, funny beeps it's very confusing !
Once it's bonded it's great ! I am amazed with the call quality.

I have an Sony Ericsson HBH 35, I have no problem w3ith the bluetooth pick up call are end calls.
I can even transfer call from my bluetooth to the handaset and by reverse pick up call on my handset and then transfer the call back to the headset all I have to do his to hold the button on the headset fro a few second and the call transfer from the handaset to the bluetooth headset no problem.
Great piece of headset I would really reccomended it to anyone.
The rom on my XDA II is still the version 1.05

Do you ever turn your headset off or disable bluetooth?
I don't have any problems when it's bonded. Just problems if I turn the headset off to save battery

I only turn the headset off at night when I charge it. I use to swwitch off the headset but not anymore becauswe if it is on it use very very little power so it last all day with no problem.
The bluetooth on the XDA II I have never turn it off since I bought it 5 month ago the bluetooth headset on the XdA II is always on.
I've try it switch it of and then on the bletooth and the bluetooh heaset on the XDA II but when I turn it on and turn the headset on it all works fine.
They is no issue on the headset I've tryed every diffrent combinetion the is and the headset works fine.
I have never needed to rebond the headset with the XDA II.
The only thing I have not try is if I can receive a second caller.
Mean trying to switch between 2 caller when I have the chance I will try it.

Problems with Plantronics M3000 and QTEK 2020

I have bought a Plantronics M3000 bluetooth headset for my QTEK 2020. I have no problems pairing, calling and answering. However the headset just shuts off after a few minutes of conversation. It doesn't just cut the conversation but shuts off. I can make multiple short calls but nothing longer than 3/4 minutes. It works, however, without problems on my wife's Ericsson T68. Anyone can help ? Thanks.

I have the MDA2 (same as QTek2020) and a Plantronics M3000 and It's been working just fine.
The problem you describe it's very weird since you mentioned that the headset works fine with your wife's mobile, and that makes me think that your QTek has some sort of problem with the Bluetooth stack or hardware.
It may be well worth to try (if possible) another headset just to make sure that is not the M3000 fault.
Do you see any type of error or message on the screen at the time of disconnection?
Does it always cut the conversation at the exact same moment?
Does the problem match the time the QTek takes to power save?
Any other clues?

I did not have the occasion to test another BT headset on the Qtek. When it shuts down there isn't any message displayed.
I have no problems with the BT stack (with the Pocket Bluetooth Tools patch) when using it with a BT GPS (Emtac) receiver, it works for hours.
However, your suggestion that it might happen when the Qtek goes in energy saving mode is interesting. I will check that tomorrow.

I seem to have a similar poblem after installing pocket bluetooth tools!.
I use a Jabra BT 250..and I noticed that the headset just mutes during the call..
I am generally used to switching off the display of the XDA after placing the call to power save ...
So I discovered that the headset would mute whenever i switch off the xda after making the call (which it never did prior to installing PBT)!
any thoughts on that?
maybe it has to do with the auto switch off plugin?

Actually I just experienced that too...
If I place (or answer a call) the next time I try to use the phone via the BT headset I notice the BT headset was turned off... Yeah, it could be related to the Powersave feature on the today plugin that PBT installs as a plugin... :roll:

Both my bt headsets have stopped working since installing pocket bluetooth tools latest version, I have reverted back to version 1005 and everything is fine. I have a sony-ericsson EBH-65 and a skypower clip on headset.

my platronics does the same also its annoying you cant even transfer the call back to the device you have to hand up turn off bt and then turn it abck on and headset mode back on it also does the same on my pc
when im on msn using it as a headset it just d/c and i have to turn it off and turn it back on again
dont see what the problem is
btw the range on the xda2 and platronics is amazing i had it on my bedrooms desk and i went outside it passed through the living room wall and the patio window and i was stood 5m down my garden im sure it would of been over 10m and it was still working if i kept still when i moved it went crackly but ah well lol

I was having the same problem with the M3000. I just had confirmation from Plantronics that this problem is a bug in the product that occurs with the XDA II. I am currently in the process of returning the product.

Same problem M3000 doesn't work. Give up now before too much frustration makes you feel ill.
Try the Hello 2 headset. Work with my Aussie XDA2 and is very small and lightweight. Even had a neck chain to carry it around like a USB drive.

BT Headset w/caller ID and XDA II/IMate PPC

In reviewing the forums, I am unable to find a "straight" answer (at least one I can understand), about whether *ANY* BT headset with caller ID will fully work with the XDA II (or in my case, the IMATE PPC).
My configuration:
Imate PPC (XDA II)
ROM: 1.72.00WWE (3/15/04)
Radio: 1.14.00
Protocol: 1337.24
ExtROM: 1.72.800
I am running Pocket Bluetooth Tools V1012 (also tried 1100).
Can anyone tell me if the Sony-Ericsson HBH-660 or any other caller-ID enabled BT headset will properly display the caller number and/or name with the above hardware/software profile?
I know for sure that the Jabra BT800 will NOT. The headset works (actually, works great... good reception!), but the caller ID does not work.

Hi,
There are many ways to get the Bluetooth with Caller ID works on the PPC. The trick is that the Caller ID needs a Hands Free profile, which is not standard in the PPC. After using one of these ways, you will end up having the the caller number only appears, but no names. If this is what you want, I can tell you how it could be done.

Yes, I would be very interested in knowing how to get it to work. A number (without name), is perfectly acceptable. I still have the Jabra BT800 headset for about 6 more days before I must return it for a refund, so I can use it to test.

Ok Guys, here are what i got.
You have two ways:
1- Install the merged rom made by sin (you can find it in the forum), as it includes the bluetooth fix. ( This is what I tried)
2-a- Install the Bluetooth Handsfree fix, I will attach it for you. After installing both updates, you should try to bond with the Headset. you should be receiving the message telling you that this is a Hands Free Device (Yes or No). You better say yes. If you said No, another message pop up twice asking if it is a Handset Device.
2-b- As a test, if you already have the headset bonded, you can go to the devices screen in bluetooth. Click and hold on the device, you should see a shortcut menu with the option "set as Hand Free". Try to select and test the Hands Free

I have the merged ROM by Sin, but still experience the same microphone issues. The CallerID works great, but the microphone on the headset is not active. Both the speaker and microphone on the XDA-II are operating.

Are you referring to the registry fix? I think that just makes you able to select hands-free at all. It doesn't fix the microphone problem.
The only thing I've heard that works is the 2.20 Chinese version. But I'm pretty happy with the Sin version. I wish we could find a quick fix for it.

no way no how will BT CID work fully on even 2.20!! It sucks.
On 2005 it works FLAWLESSLY. But there are bugs on 2005, lack of mem, contacts and email database are new so will not work with many third party software, etc.
Even if you add the reg key "HadsfreeProfileOn", (Sins fix), or have any BT stack or even pray to the bluetooth God, your ****ed on 2.02 - 2.06.
2.20 is ****ty.. If I receive another call while using handsfree, even if I do not answer it, I loose all sound and mic ON BOTH until I click on Tools, Hands free off and then again tools hands free on.
Sometimes the mic - duel speaker things comes back and you have to reboot.
