I just ordered the new Pixel Tablet with 256GB. It will work nicely with my Pixel 7 Pro and replace my aging Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus.
$599 with the dock, less the $200 credit from my P7P purchase last October.
Delivery is June 20.
Is anyone getting one?
Hi,
Defintely want to get one to match with my P7P but I am wondering about the stylus functionalities though.
I saw in the caracteristics of the Pixel Tablet that it supports USI2.0 but I don't know that much this standard.
Anybody knows anything about how that'll work? Anything comparable to what Samsung does?
Thanks
I ordered one arriving on the 20th too. Haven't had an Android tablet in a long time and looking forward to blocking ads which makes my iPad so annoying.
Hope it's just like my P7 Pro with a bigger screen
Just got a notice that my Pixel tablet will be delivered tomorrow. Too bad that I am out of town until Friday.
That sucks, however, you've got another thing to look forward to upon your return. Mine came today and I'm setting it up now. New factory image posted, as well.

Are you going to root? Glad the factory image is up in case I bork it.
Did anyone have delays in their order? I have a vacation coming up and they claim to be delivering at the day before.
mine was shipped "overnight delivery"

I got my G-tablet from TD about a month back, flashed to Vegan Tab 5.1 as soon as I got it. She was sweet Very very fast, I was just showing off in college everyday LOL. Tried a 1.4 Ghz ROM yesterday but I restored stock partitions today, put in the stock 1.0.1 and sent it back to TD. It had a stuck pixel from day one, and I tried almost all those stuck-pixel fixer apps, let some run overnight but none worked. TD did not have replacement tablets to offer me and the wait time for a new replacement tablet right now is about a month. So I'm just doing the return
Thinking of ordering one from Amazon for the same $299 but I think I'd just give it a month, see if Viewsonic comes out with an IPS/AMOLED screen sporting baby soon. I never really had a problem with the screen though unlike a lot other people. Maybe I'll just be getting another G-tab. Let's see how it goes!
I just got my gtab last friday and I couldn't be happier with it. Can't be beaten with tegra 2 16gb flash for $250. Sure the screen isn't great but I'd take the gtab + $400 with a crappy screen over the Xoom any day. The dev support for the gtab is just amazing.
Anyway, best of look with your decision. If they had announced the Asus Transformer for the US and for ~$400 then I'd say wait, otherwise the gtab is a no brainer for < $300. The gtab is future proof for another year.
i was just in my local td and they had a pile of gtabs...
i got my tab on friday. I also have 2 dead pixels. I'm gonna try one of the pixel fixer apps to see if that works. If not i can probably live with them, they aren't to noticable

Exactly and thanks! The G-tab is future-proof and the devs working on it are amazing. Tegra-2 and Tegra-2 3D are the way to go. You got yours for $250? Nice! I got it about the same time that woot put it up for $299.
The tab was sweet and responsive. I just couldn't get over the stuck pixel. It was one of the annoying blue/green/yellow pixels that you could see clearly. Think I'll order one soon enough from Amazon (as soon as my refund's been processed)

Good for you if they're not noticeable. But you can always exchange it for another!
I'd recommend you try JScreenFix and alternate that with some of those rapid color changing videos you find on youtube. Good luck! Hope it works for you

yeh I'm running jscreenfix right now. I'm not sure how long to run it for before giving up.
If anything I may just make a nandroid backup, exchange this one for a new one at office depot, then restore the backup. We'll see. Now that I'm using the tablet more I'm starting to notice the pixels more. lol
It seems that folks using jscreenfix for stuck pixels have had to run it for a wide range of times. Some report only 10 minutes, while others have had to leave it running overnight for a few days.
But, it's a cheap fix to a very annoying issue.
sears
Officedepot on web 299.00 I got sears to price match office and then got another 10 off 289.00 out the door.
Keep an eye on woot.com Many users did get their gtabs from woot. I got mine about a week ago when a week before that woot was having a wootoff and sold it for $279. + $5 shipping.
It had been up twice so keep an eye it make come around a third time.
i flashed my gtab back to stock last night and exchanged it today for a new one. No more dead pixels
So I hadn't had mine for exactly 24 hours and already it had 3 dead pixels. I was extremely bummed about this. I had JUST started downloading all of the Rooting stuff. I go to turn it on and boom, they were there. I had just got home from work and not even 1 hour before, the screen was perfect. Thank god I waited at least a day of full use to make sure there weren't any defects!
For the time I had it, I loved it. Even though the stock OS was just absolute trash, I still had fun with it. Great product for the price I got it for.
So doing a return via Amazon and will be waiting for the Transformer. I prefer ASUS Build quality anyways.
I love my Transformer, but the build quality appears to be all over the place with this initial batch. Hopefully the next batch with have better QC.

Woot has the tab for $280 again, if you're still in the market.
Hey all,
Im looking at getting the TF with the dock but not sure if i should get it here in the UK or get it in US and have it shipped. The reason I'm thinking of the US is for 2 reasons:
1. Cheaper
2. Better updates (they seem to have more features?)
While I know it will be a longer wait for it to be available properly in the US, it might be worth it.
What do you guys think?
id suggest the UK. There are various problems that mean you may need to return/exchange it ....
(mine still has something rattling around inside it)
once the ROM community kicks in and the ASUS updates settle down im guessing that updates will come via custom ROMs as opposed to waiting for official ones to filter to the UK.
I bought it from this site
http://www.laskys.com/computing/laptops_and_pdas/tablets/asus_eee_pad_transformer_with_docking_station.html
Delivery is due on Tuesday.
used Laskys a few times and found them quite good (well no problems and quick delivery anyway!).
I guess you guys are right, best just get one here and be done with it.
I bought from Comet, direct from store. They only seem to have one per store so maybe worth a call first.
Mine seem fine with no issue, but only 1 day old.

Comet and laskys are essentialy the same company anyway...
got mine from laskys too..very quick delivery... I called the support hotline for a replacement because the first unit I received had serious light bleed, the support guy quickly ordered a replacement for me..(no question was asked at all)
The replacement turned up the next day (i was very surprised) and the parcelforce guy took the faulty one back...
can't complain that
the coemt and PC world here both have the tablet, but not the dock.. the guys at PCworld (suprisingly) were excellent - really knew their stuff!
I've since then requested a return slip via Amazon since I saw a dead pixel last night while watching a video. When the video cut to a black screen, I noticed a tiny little blue dot that was not part of the video. I've confirmed it via some pixel checker apps and it is indeed a dead pixel. This is somewhat an eye opener as to the quality of this phone. I love the phone, but the hardware and even customer support lacks a lot. I've sent numerous emails to customer support with no reply back. And it wasn't even about anything major. It's not just the dead pixel that sparked this thought about returning the phone. As many have said, the tap to wake feature is iffy and only works when it wants.
I'm afraid to try my chances again with this phone, but I've been back to the basics of researching into another device. Gut instincts should've went with the HTC One M9. But the amazing price of this phone was hard to pass up. For anybody who has since returned this phone (and hopefully still lurk this subforum) could you let me know why you returned it and which phone you got to replace it? I might press my luck again and buy it again once I receive my refund. Hoping I get one from another recent batch.
Just an update...I sent back the phone today to Amazon for a full refund and in the meantime I ordered another one just so I can get a replacement quicker rather than having to wait 2-6 days for my refund to show up then order another one, but this time I placed an order through Alcatels main website and during checkout it asked me to select shipping speed and there was Standard, 2 day and 1 day, and for the hell of it I wanted to see how much 1 day shipping was and the total said it was 0.00 and the final cost was still only $249.99 which is the main cost of the phone. I was able to successfully place my order with the 1 day shipping method for 0.00. Not sure if my order will still go through but it will be interesting to see.
You should've stuck with Amazon tho, because if something else happens it easier to go thru Amazon for return then thru Alcatel

Yeah I thought about that after I purchased through Alcatel. Thing is, the phone was shipped via Amazon and it even said so during the checkout process. So if anything goes wrong I might still be able to return it hassle free.

You will not be able to return through Amazon so easily. That's what happened to me when I got this for my wife. We actually had to go through a ton of freaking hoops(according to my wife) to make it happen.
We were supposed to send it straight to alcatel and wait 3 weeks. My wife did her thing (whatever that is) and was able to have them do it through Amazon.

Hmm. Well hopefully this replacement phone won't have any flaws. Right away I noticed the box was in better condition than the last one and it seems the speakers are louder. I must've got one from a new batch because I didn't have to install the startup update since it came preinstalled already. So its a newer device it seems. Oh well. Thanks for your input I'll remember that if I ever have to return it again.

Amazon sucks balls when it comes to getting packages in good condition. Every single thing that I have purchased from them this year so far has come in an extremely damaged box. UPS does not give a crap for sure!!!

I rarely order directly from Amazon's fulfillment just based on their rule of ordering $35 or more for free shipping if I wanted something for only $10. I usually go the third-party route who offer free shipping with reliability. But since Alcatel only uses Amazon's fulfillment center, I had no choice. But yeah my first Idol 3 box was smashed in the corner and had weird water stain marks on the front and sides. I had a feeling it was going to be a defective unit just from the box.
Does anyone know if it's gonna be in stock again before preorders end?
Nevermind. Saw it came back earlier & got myself a 128. Cancelled my 32 really blue.

wow that's QUICK
If you see a 128GB or other model out of stock, you should sign up for the waitlist. That's how I got my preorder for a Pixel 128GB Quite Black.
I just preordered a Pixel 128GB quite black as well. Too bad the wait time for delivery is over a month
I'm glad there is a wait. I already have the Samsung s7 a. D I like the small form factor of this phone. I'm sure the pixel will fit well in the hand. I need for the camera and battery life to be on par with the S7. Waiting allows all the reviews to be done. If there good I'll keep my order, if not I'll cancel the order.
I'm hoping for the price the phone it will at least be on par with the iPhone 7. Can't wait to see.

Yeah, that is definitely a good mindset. My Nexus 6P is great, but I'm kinda disappointed that they dropped the Nexus line (I assume no future updates aside from flashing).
I just pre-ordered to be able to get it early and if the reviews don't match the hype, I figured it'd be easy to return. I was really debating to get the XL for the battery size, but I figured that software and hardware as a "Google" phone would be optimized since Google controls the process so I chose the smaller form factor. I like the smaller form factor as well, especially since the specs are primarily the same. Just worried about battery life but I guess that should be answered shortly when customers starting receiving their phone.
Ideally, I would have it early so I can sell my Nexus 6P before it's depreciation hits rock bottom.
Since the wait time is like a month on shipping, I have s question. If I out an order thru Google store, and let's say in two weeks I can find something to be shipped quicker, can I cancel that one with no hassle before it got shipped? Do you actually prepay, or they will charge only when it is shipped?
They only charge you when they process the order. When you purchase it says preorder (status of orders, are preorder, processing ,shipped, delivered).
Right before your order is ready to ship they process and charge your card. I'm not sure how to cancelling works when the order changes status but it's fairly easy to cancel when it still preorder status
I'm really on the fence about ordering a OnePlus 7 Pro. I have a 512gb Note9 with an encrypted bootloader now and I'm bored out of my freaking mind.
I've been watching Swappa closely, just to see what is trending. I actually started watching Swappa for a deal on a Pixel 3XL and kinda ended up in the OnePlus 7 Pro section too. If I order a Oneplus 7 Pro I will get it direct from OnePlus just for warranty peace of mind.
But I see a disturbing trend of all the OnePlus 7 Pro's going up for sale rather quickly. Pretty common to see "only used for 2 days" or even "used once or twice" and then boxed back up promptly for resale..... WHY?
Why is everybody using this device once or twice and then immediately trying to sell if off? Got me pretty concerned about making a $782.19 purchase. It was a lot easier to stomach when a OnePlus was only $500.
Why don't you ask them? There could be many reasons. I'm very happy with mine, I would have no idea why someone else isn't.
I guess the best you can do is watch some YouTube reviews, read about common issues and concerns,I don't use swappa but maybe you could message a seller there and ask,
Id imagine people just find the phone too big, don't like the curved display, most likely something to do with the design I'd say.

I try not to spam their listing with questions when I have no intention of actually purchasing the item. I also couldn't expect them to answer candidly on the same page they are tying to recoup $700 on.
Whenever possible I follow their XDA names/links and send a PM asking. No responses so far. I did see one guy state he was selling because he was just to "entrenched in the Apple Ecosystem" but if he was going to keep an Android the OnePlus 7 Pro is "the phone to have". Then an hour later he purchased a Pixel 3XL in another listing I was also watching. :silly:
Pretty stupid on their part. They just return the phone in the first 14 days and not lose $250 from the resale cost. I have patience for stupidity.

I've been watching YouTube videos and reviews and unboxings and scouring the internet pretty much nonstop since the release. I'm not worried about ghost touches as I never use NFC. Size, weight and curved edges are all the bees knees to me. I'm an HTC Max user from way back and always buy the biggest screen available in any line.
The only real deal breaker problem I could see is if the camera produced literally unusable pictures. I take LOTS of pictures daily. They don't have to be better than the Samsung's or the Pixels (I've had both). But they do need to be worth keeping. I'm afraid the only way I will be able to answer that question is to see for myself in person ie order one.
I will say I am pretty picky about the color though. I don't really care for the Nebula Blue much but I REALLY want that 12GB ram...

Due to the number of people who have tried unlocks, etc and had issues I would be, at least, looking for photos or video of the device working before you stump over the cash but yeah, it's a great phone so watch some reviews and if you like what you see, go for it
The 12gb ram model was the one OnePlus sent out as review units/influencers/promoters. They could just be u loading. Also people buy phones without checking compatibility, maybe not for their carrier. If not on T-Mobile there's always some issue, i.e. Sprint not working at all, att not WiFi calling, Verizon cdma_less issues. Could be any number of issues but don't let that worry you. Same thing happens with every phone that is released. I personally sold my s10e after 3 days just because, there was no "I need to keep tilhis phone" feeling. My op7 pro gives me that feeling , it's one of the best phones I've ever used, and I replaced my pixel 3 xl with it.

None at all. Pixel 3xl performance is garbage. Hiccups, stuttering was terribly annoying. Only good things were camera and software day 1. I'm like those swappa sellers you're skeptical about, I change my phone monthly sometimes. In 4 years I've made 90 sales, 60 were my personal use device. The longest I've kept a phone was OnePlus 6 for 6 months. Ill never fo back to iOS, and in Android world OnePlus is my favorite. I don't use camera just for pics of the kids. I NEVER take selfies.
I ended up with the 8gb blue direct from oneplus. I wanted the 12gb but it was 14 days until shipping and couldn't wait. I got the T-Mobile gray on lau ch day but hated the software/sim lock/ single sim, but the 12gb would have gotten here after my return period was up with T-Mobile. Still no regrets, I don't think it would have bee. Any big change in performance. I'm still surprised to how many apps are still where I left them even several hours later.

Just do it. My sequence was Pixel 3XL > S10+> OnePlus 7 pro
I just gave one UI other chance as you see, but stock Android and OOS(near stock) are way better, especially together with a hardware top of the line (OnePlus 7pro).

So I guess I need to decide if I go with 12GB and wait 12 days for delivery and then have to try to cover up that nebula blue with a skin or something. Or go with Grey , get it in 2 days and don't have to worry about covering up that blue. Decisions decisions....

I completely agree about the Pixel 3 XL performance, complete garbage. At the time I had the Pixel 3 XL, T-Mobile OnePlus 6t, and unlocked OnePlus 6t from OnePlus. I sold the Pixel. The only thing that phone has going for it was the camera, and like you said day one software updates, but the performance is horrible on that phone.

They only do that in the US... frustrating yeah but 15% of the most expensive phone at $750 is just $112 so I still ask, why sell it on swappa and take a $200 hit? I think you said he was selling for $500? Doesn't make much sense to me, he'd still get more money back just returning it.

Wow you really got that Swappa down!
So I guess I need to decide if I go with 12GB and wait 12 days for delivery and then have to try to cover up that nebula blue with a skin or something. Or go with Grey , get it in 2 days and don't have to worry about covering up that blue. Decisions decisions....

Your going to have to cover either phone. They are WAY too slippery to really use naked. I used to use my phones naked (I've never dropped a phone) but I don't trust these phones sine teh OP5 and OP6 and not OP 7Pro.
I've always had black or grey phones but the blue is amazing. I agree it is so slippery being olephobic gorilla glass. I hate to cover it. It like a minimal perimeter case.

I got the blue one
Why not use the included case? It's a perfect fit and doesn't cover up the beautiful back or the light around the edge. I've always put a case on my phones and have never cracked or broken a phone in any way. This bad boy is slippery and I have no problem or issue using the clear case!!

Pretty stupid on their part. They just return the phone in the first 14 days and not lose $250 from the resale cost. I have patience for stupidity.

Well, that's the big decision I've been trying to make. Its between the Pixel 3XL or the OnePlus 7 Pro. I just feel you are getting so much more with the 7 Pro. No regrets leaving the 3XL?
Think I'm gonna pull the trigger! If you don't mind me asking what color/variant did you guys get? Anything you would change now that you've had it a while?

I got the blue one from T-mobile, I always get blue if it's available for the phone I am interested in since it's my favorite color. I too sometimes switch phones monthly which I have the option of doing if I want since I am a Jump On Demand customer with T-Mobile and have that option. Longest I have kept a phone in the last year is almost 2.5 months.
I switched from the Note 9. 90hz screen made it a keeper for me. Camera is not bad as some ppl make it seem but of course the Note 9 camera is better. Haptic feedback is also better but still not on the same level like on the iPhone and Pixel yet. I've also bought the Nillkin Type C Wireless Charging USB C Receiver for wireless charging and Elevation Lab USB-C CordDock as a secondary even though honestly I really didn't need to purchase that as the wireless reciever works. Battery is the same as on the Note 9. The only thing I miss is one handed mode. Stock android and or Oxygen OS should really develop a one handed mode since these phones are getting larger each year.
