128gb Sold Out? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if it's gonna be in stock again before preorders end?

Nevermind. Saw it came back earlier & got myself a 128. Cancelled my 32 really blue.

wow that's QUICK

If you see a 128GB or other model out of stock, you should sign up for the waitlist. That's how I got my preorder for a Pixel 128GB Quite Black.

I just preordered a Pixel 128GB quite black as well. Too bad the wait time for delivery is over a month

I'm glad there is a wait. I already have the Samsung s7 a. D I like the small form factor of this phone. I'm sure the pixel will fit well in the hand. I need for the camera and battery life to be on par with the S7. Waiting allows all the reviews to be done. If there good I'll keep my order, if not I'll cancel the order.
I'm hoping for the price the phone it will at least be on par with the iPhone 7. Can't wait to see.

Yeah, that is definitely a good mindset. My Nexus 6P is great, but I'm kinda disappointed that they dropped the Nexus line (I assume no future updates aside from flashing).
I just pre-ordered to be able to get it early and if the reviews don't match the hype, I figured it'd be easy to return. I was really debating to get the XL for the battery size, but I figured that software and hardware as a "Google" phone would be optimized since Google controls the process so I chose the smaller form factor. I like the smaller form factor as well, especially since the specs are primarily the same. Just worried about battery life but I guess that should be answered shortly when customers starting receiving their phone.
Ideally, I would have it early so I can sell my Nexus 6P before it's depreciation hits rock bottom.

Since the wait time is like a month on shipping, I have s question. If I out an order thru Google store, and let's say in two weeks I can find something to be shipped quicker, can I cancel that one with no hassle before it got shipped? Do you actually prepay, or they will charge only when it is shipped?

They only charge you when they process the order. When you purchase it says preorder (status of orders, are preorder, processing ,shipped, delivered).
Right before your order is ready to ship they process and charge your card. I'm not sure how to cancelling works when the order changes status but it's fairly easy to cancel when it still preorder status

Should I buy the Pixel XL Now? - April 2017

Hey everyone,
My Nexus 6 is at it's end. I'm losing 1% of battery life every two or so minutes. My battery lasts about 5 hours or so. I would prefer to get the XL from Google. It's still so damn expensive. Should I just pull the trigger and get it? Does anyone think there will be deals in a couple of months since the Pixel 2 will be coming out? I'm torn about what to do. If I get the Pixel now, will it be obsolete in a year? With insurance, the payments on the phone would be $40 per month putting the phone at $960. I'm just not sure if I should pull the trigger or wait it out. I've had the N6 for over two years already.
Any advice is welcome.
For what it's worth, I wouldn't shell out that much cash even spread out over time and even for a 128GB , much less for the 32GB. Although the ideal Pixel for me would be the XL 128GB, I settled for the non-XL 32GB because at the time (I know it's not likely now an option from anyone right now), $240 straight out for the Pixel 32GB was just too good to pass up. Personally, although I really hate not having a MicroSD slot or at least 128GB storage, I overall regret having bought two HTC 10s for $500 each the day before I became aware of the Pixel deal. If I had known just how much I would like the Pixel software (but I'm still rooted and on PureNexus ROM), I would have seen about canceling or returning the two 10s.
I may not be the wisest money spender but I'm just not willing to fork out that kind of money for any phone. I already told myself before I sprung for the 10 and the Pixel that if you just wait long enough a deal you can't refuse presents itself, and I re-learned that lesson just a day after buying the 10, which was a deal itself - just not as good a deal as I would have preferred.
The Pixel will not be obsolete in a year, though. If I were going to get one now, if I couldn't find a "can't refuse" deal on a brand new warrantied Google version (unless you don't care about root or can get a pre-7.1 - or was it pre-7.1.1? Verizon Pixel) elsewhere, make sure and check Swappa and buy from a well-rated seller.
When I looked out of curiosity a week or two ago, the Pixel XL 128 GB was a tiny bit cheaper than it used to be, although I don't know if it has gone back up in price since it's been revealed that the Pixel is now "discontinued" through some of the carriers that had it, although I don't know the details of that.
I know it sucks if there just isn't a choice to pay straight out for any decent phone, and so you might feel forced into payments, so of course there are other considerations.
My $20.02. Good luck with your choices.

Thank you sir. The down side is that the 32GB isn't even available through Google. I don't want to get it from Verizon because it's locked. I'm just nervous about waiting too long and have the XL be gone. I'm leaning towards getting it soon because even though it's expensive, it is a monthly payment.
Not having an SD slot is a bummer. I know I can't use a 32GB phone. I'll fill it quick. I've made 3 swappa purchases in the past. Two of them were bad deals. The prices on the Pixel range from 600 to 1200. That's a lot of cash up front where the monthly payments seem better to me.
I don't know what to do. If I buy one now, I have this feeling that in one or two months the price will drop and I'm going to kick myself in the ass. That said, I appreciate everything you've mentioned.
I presume you're not on VZW. In which case idk if I could justify the cost, knowing that it's already about 6 months old.
That said, I wouldn't go for anything less than 128gb. Apps are only getting bigger and bigger. Even with unlimited Google photos storage, you're still going to have apps and app data. You may want to have movies and such downloaded to your device.

I am on Verizon. I just didn't want to get it from them since it's locked. The difference in payments between the two is $4/month. If you buy the Pixel from Google now, do you still get unlimited storage?
Sorry for the double post. I bought it. Had to do it after seeing my phone go from 100 to 30% in four hours. Thread can be closed.

To answer your question, yes, the unlimited storage with full un(further)compressed quality is a Pixel perk, and doesn't depend on when you buy the Pixel, and you wouldn't even have to be the original owner/user of the Pixel. For that matter, it probably works for any additional users you would add to the phone via Android.

I did get it from Google. It said 3 to 4 weeks. I dont mind the wait.
Should have waited for pixel 2
Got mine 1/2 price during a vzw sale. There's no way I'd pay more than that because that's all it's worth. It's been the worst "phone" I've ever had in regards to weak signals and dropped calls.
I paid full price for a 128 non-XL. And I've been using Android since the G1, most of my phones had been Nexus phones, every single one of them I modified constantly. This Pixel is the ONLY phone I've been satisfied with. So price to me is irrelevant when it comes to satisfaction. I've wasted SO much more money trying to find the perfect phone for me, than the cost of the Pixel.

Are you buying the pixel 2 ?

My pixel works fine along with my Nexus 5x and 6. With the new pixel 2 around the corner are you buying it? I hate to be the stereotypical American who consumes in excess and buys things they don't need but I know ill resist for a month or 2 then cave in.

I'm getting sucked into reading the stories about the pixel 2. If I was practical, it would be hard to justify a new phone. What new features do I need that won't come from a software update? I do wish I had 64 gigs. Recently had to factory reset and that got me back down to 26 gigs used.

Of course I'm going to get it. However, there are a bunch of caveats and prerequisites in order to justify the purchase. And naturally a few different scenarios. Gift the Pixel to a family member that has a crappy S5 or any other Samsung device, sell it on Swappa, use it as a backup device in case something goes wrong with the Pixel 2 and you need to wait for a replacement, stuff like that. Personally, I'm in for the gifting and then it's justified right off the bat even though I still have a year left to pay it off. But the family member is on my VZW account so nothing it really changed in that regard. (wow, that S5 is a piece of junk, Yes, that's for all you Sammy trolls)
Then there's the price. I only paid $240 for the Pixel in the wee hours of Black Friday. I had a chance to depixel8 the device but chose not to. I had no intention of ever unlocking the bootloader or rooting so I just took the updates. I'd do the same thing here if the price were the same. Google never had a black Friday deal and I could not justify paying 7 bills since my 5x was working perfectly and still does. (running Android O beta, locked bootloader on that too) Bottom line for me is never buy it on any other day than BF and get the best price possible, locked or not. I fully expect VZW to keep the bl locked and I don't care if I can get the phone for $300 or close to it. I won't spend a nickel over $400 tax included. Since the Pixel and the XL are working so well and a lot of people are on a 2 year installment plan of sorts, I believe they will have some discounts on it during the holiday season. Just keep your eyes peeled since the deals are strictly for black Friday hours only. Come Saturday the deals are off the table.
PS I should save this post to remind myself of rational thought when the device is released.
I'm considering upgrading to a larger screen but I just switched to t-mobile and sadly Google only offers the Pixels to Verizon for resale. So unless I can get one on device payments I'll probably stick with my Pixel.
I can understand buying the Pixel over the Nexus. The Nexus always had that element that caused it to get laggy over time and stutter, but the Pixel is a massive step from the previous nexus 5x I had. All my phone are in working condition and i actually offered to loan someone whose phone stopped working my Nexus 5X.
The Pixel though hasent given me any issues. I think at the very least I'll wait until next year to buy it. It seems like the first batch of phones tend to have issues. I remember the first Pixels has that crackling speaker issue, but since this one actually works well I'll have to think about it myself. If I do maybe not until 2018
They are going to have to really nail it to get me to upgrade right away. This is a great phone.
Not sure yet, nothing wrong with this one, might wait for the pixel 3, this is just a great phone

I'd also expect the Verizon Pixel 2 to have deals during Black Friday. There are typically also good offers on carrier phones at times during November and December. I could have saved a bit by waiting longer to buy. I think the best offer in 2016 only lasted a few days.
https://slickdeals.net/f/9417827-be...-e-gift-card?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo
Many of the Verizon offers have generally trended towards bill credits recently, where you have to buy their service for two years to get the price reduction, yet the Verizon S8 had a Device Payment Plan offer last month where the financed price was reported as $300+ less than retail.

No
Probably will wait until the 3, because my 1 is still in great shape
So got to add BT headphones to the mix too. Been wanting a pair anyway, this will probably force my hand. I have Grado now and they are amazing. I don't think they make BT yet so does anyone have some that are in the 100-200 range that are just killer?
I personally don't use bluetooth. Based on the renderings, I think I'll definitely wait at least for a bit. If it turns out to be just the Pixel with a few enhancements then it will be easier to pass. I was hoping for front facing speakers, but dosent seem to be happening. Also they are removing the headphone jack which I like. Something minor but should start being standard.....waterproofing, hopefully this new one is officially water resistant/proof.
It looks like they will have several versions or atleast 2 which is good. Everthing now seems to be 5.5"+, I cannot do these jumbo sized phones, I'm probably the only one, but I don't like excessively large phones. Hence why I got the small pixel.
Pixel 2 will be 5". As for BT I'd like to get rid of the cord if fidelity is as good. Waterproofing is not minor! Lol. That's almost a prerequisite at this point.

I'll have to probably update this post. If Google follows the Note 8 and prices the Pixel 2 at $900+, then that's a definite "no" for getting it. Beyond unacceptable. I'll keep the phones I have or switch to a GSM carrier and buy a One Plus.
When you throw in taxes and optional insurance, you are looking at a total over $1000
imma skip to the pixel 3. it's not worth it considering how good the pixel/pixel xl are to date
I was but it doesn't have band 71

Ouch! Never owned anything but a Google phone. Im starting to rethink this.

Serious Question...

I'm really on the fence about ordering a OnePlus 7 Pro. I have a 512gb Note9 with an encrypted bootloader now and I'm bored out of my freaking mind.
I've been watching Swappa closely, just to see what is trending. I actually started watching Swappa for a deal on a Pixel 3XL and kinda ended up in the OnePlus 7 Pro section too. If I order a Oneplus 7 Pro I will get it direct from OnePlus just for warranty peace of mind.
But I see a disturbing trend of all the OnePlus 7 Pro's going up for sale rather quickly. Pretty common to see "only used for 2 days" or even "used once or twice" and then boxed back up promptly for resale..... WHY?
Why is everybody using this device once or twice and then immediately trying to sell if off? Got me pretty concerned about making a $782.19 purchase. It was a lot easier to stomach when a OnePlus was only $500.
Why don't you ask them? There could be many reasons. I'm very happy with mine, I would have no idea why someone else isn't.
I guess the best you can do is watch some YouTube reviews, read about common issues and concerns,I don't use swappa but maybe you could message a seller there and ask,
Id imagine people just find the phone too big, don't like the curved display, most likely something to do with the design I'd say.

I try not to spam their listing with questions when I have no intention of actually purchasing the item. I also couldn't expect them to answer candidly on the same page they are tying to recoup $700 on.
Whenever possible I follow their XDA names/links and send a PM asking. No responses so far. I did see one guy state he was selling because he was just to "entrenched in the Apple Ecosystem" but if he was going to keep an Android the OnePlus 7 Pro is "the phone to have". Then an hour later he purchased a Pixel 3XL in another listing I was also watching. :silly:
Pretty stupid on their part. They just return the phone in the first 14 days and not lose $250 from the resale cost. I have patience for stupidity.

I've been watching YouTube videos and reviews and unboxings and scouring the internet pretty much nonstop since the release. I'm not worried about ghost touches as I never use NFC. Size, weight and curved edges are all the bees knees to me. I'm an HTC Max user from way back and always buy the biggest screen available in any line.
The only real deal breaker problem I could see is if the camera produced literally unusable pictures. I take LOTS of pictures daily. They don't have to be better than the Samsung's or the Pixels (I've had both). But they do need to be worth keeping. I'm afraid the only way I will be able to answer that question is to see for myself in person ie order one.
I will say I am pretty picky about the color though. I don't really care for the Nebula Blue much but I REALLY want that 12GB ram...

Due to the number of people who have tried unlocks, etc and had issues I would be, at least, looking for photos or video of the device working before you stump over the cash but yeah, it's a great phone so watch some reviews and if you like what you see, go for it
The 12gb ram model was the one OnePlus sent out as review units/influencers/promoters. They could just be u loading. Also people buy phones without checking compatibility, maybe not for their carrier. If not on T-Mobile there's always some issue, i.e. Sprint not working at all, att not WiFi calling, Verizon cdma_less issues. Could be any number of issues but don't let that worry you. Same thing happens with every phone that is released. I personally sold my s10e after 3 days just because, there was no "I need to keep tilhis phone" feeling. My op7 pro gives me that feeling , it's one of the best phones I've ever used, and I replaced my pixel 3 xl with it.

None at all. Pixel 3xl performance is garbage. Hiccups, stuttering was terribly annoying. Only good things were camera and software day 1. I'm like those swappa sellers you're skeptical about, I change my phone monthly sometimes. In 4 years I've made 90 sales, 60 were my personal use device. The longest I've kept a phone was OnePlus 6 for 6 months. Ill never fo back to iOS, and in Android world OnePlus is my favorite. I don't use camera just for pics of the kids. I NEVER take selfies.
I ended up with the 8gb blue direct from oneplus. I wanted the 12gb but it was 14 days until shipping and couldn't wait. I got the T-Mobile gray on lau ch day but hated the software/sim lock/ single sim, but the 12gb would have gotten here after my return period was up with T-Mobile. Still no regrets, I don't think it would have bee. Any big change in performance. I'm still surprised to how many apps are still where I left them even several hours later.

Just do it. My sequence was Pixel 3XL > S10+> OnePlus 7 pro
I just gave one UI other chance as you see, but stock Android and OOS(near stock) are way better, especially together with a hardware top of the line (OnePlus 7pro).

So I guess I need to decide if I go with 12GB and wait 12 days for delivery and then have to try to cover up that nebula blue with a skin or something. Or go with Grey , get it in 2 days and don't have to worry about covering up that blue. Decisions decisions....

I completely agree about the Pixel 3 XL performance, complete garbage. At the time I had the Pixel 3 XL, T-Mobile OnePlus 6t, and unlocked OnePlus 6t from OnePlus. I sold the Pixel. The only thing that phone has going for it was the camera, and like you said day one software updates, but the performance is horrible on that phone.

I see this with every phone that comes out. Samsung etc.. it's what people do

I did see one of the sellers say he was trying to sell it on Swappa because OnePlus charges a 15% restocking fee. If that is true its news to me.

They only do that in the US... frustrating yeah but 15% of the most expensive phone at $750 is just $112 so I still ask, why sell it on swappa and take a $200 hit? I think you said he was selling for $500? Doesn't make much sense to me, he'd still get more money back just returning it.

Wow you really got that Swappa down!
So I guess I need to decide if I go with 12GB and wait 12 days for delivery and then have to try to cover up that nebula blue with a skin or something. Or go with Grey , get it in 2 days and don't have to worry about covering up that blue. Decisions decisions....

Your going to have to cover either phone. They are WAY too slippery to really use naked. I used to use my phones naked (I've never dropped a phone) but I don't trust these phones sine teh OP5 and OP6 and not OP 7Pro.
I've always had black or grey phones but the blue is amazing. I agree it is so slippery being olephobic gorilla glass. I hate to cover it. It like a minimal perimeter case.
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk
I got the blue one
Why not use the included case? It's a perfect fit and doesn't cover up the beautiful back or the light around the edge. I've always put a case on my phones and have never cracked or broken a phone in any way. This bad boy is slippery and I have no problem or issue using the clear case!!

Pretty stupid on their part. They just return the phone in the first 14 days and not lose $250 from the resale cost. I have patience for stupidity.

Exactly. I too have no patience for stupidity.

Well, that's the big decision I've been trying to make. Its between the Pixel 3XL or the OnePlus 7 Pro. I just feel you are getting so much more with the 7 Pro. No regrets leaving the 3XL?
Think I'm gonna pull the trigger! If you don't mind me asking what color/variant did you guys get? Anything you would change now that you've had it a while?

I got the blue one from T-mobile, I always get blue if it's available for the phone I am interested in since it's my favorite color. I too sometimes switch phones monthly which I have the option of doing if I want since I am a Jump On Demand customer with T-Mobile and have that option. Longest I have kept a phone in the last year is almost 2.5 months.
I switched from the Note 9. 90hz screen made it a keeper for me. Camera is not bad as some ppl make it seem but of course the Note 9 camera is better. Haptic feedback is also better but still not on the same level like on the iPhone and Pixel yet. I've also bought the Nillkin Type C Wireless Charging USB C Receiver for wireless charging and Elevation Lab USB-C CordDock as a secondary even though honestly I really didn't need to purchase that as the wireless reciever works. Battery is the same as on the Note 9. The only thing I miss is one handed mode. Stock android and or Oxygen OS should really develop a one handed mode since these phones are getting larger each year.

Ever had issues with samsung trade in?

I traded a perfectly fine device and this morning i got an email saying phone wasnt accepted cause it didnt turn on. Have you ever had issues with samsung trade in? What did you do next?
Yes, I sent in a phone and was told it was cracked. I took pics before I sent it. I called and the rep reversed it. I'd call and say it was functioning just fine.
Talked to someone. They said they are going to reevaluate it and get back to me after 5 days.
Only have done it once but had no issues. I was afraid though after all the horror stories I have read. It was a long excruciating wait lol. Sorry about your issue hopefully they get it sorted out for you.
I sent a device in i bricked once they claimed was received destroyed. It was near mint. Claimed screen was broke all kinds of crap. When I got it back it was the same screen I sent it in with

They should've been able to do it immediately. By chance you have proof it was functioning prior to sending it in?
Now I'm actually debating trading in my s10 plus...just recently got the note 20 ultra but I've been really thinking about the fold 2 ... samsung will give me 400 vs best buy 300 but I'm actually thinking of skipping the hassle for the extra 100 I would save ...

I honestly think its better to go with BestBuy if you want peace of mind. I did with bestbuy before and they inspect it right in from of you.

Definitely going with best buy! I just doubled check and they have a promotion for trade in if I get the fold 2.
300 for the trade plus 250 samsung promotion. For a total of 550 discount
Are they still using Ingram Micros? Its always the case when they skim off the top for self profit by lying about the condition of your device.

Still using Ingram Micros as of the Note 20 Ultra release. Ive utilized the trade in program for the Note 20 Ultra and the Note 10. No issues whatsoever. My trade ins though were pretty clean to begin with.

Yes they are!
I personally haven't had an issue although the last exchange went a bit differently than usual. Given the usual CV-19 crap that all big biz uses, typical.
I traded my S9+ in and got $400 off my Note 20 Ultra. They emailed me that they received it and it could be five business days before I get an answer. It took almost a month before they emailed me that the trade in was approved!
Even right now, I checked my order status and the trade in status reads "SkippedIMMTriageWindow". Not sure what that means but I have my approved email and have NOT been charged the $400 as some did that had (below) happen!
I was getting concerned as I found /r threads and youtube videos of nightmares where trade ins were rejected and the phone was sent back and the phone they got back wasn't even their phone! And completely different, like trading in a s9 and getting back a LG V40! Man I'd be pissed.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS take GOOD photos of your trade in including screen shots clearly showing IEMI, even with a piece of paper with your name written on it. (Like Swappa requires for proof of ownership). Also GOOD photos around the bezels, back glass, et al. To provide POSITIVE PROOF that you own that device and that's the device you're sending in.
Otherwise, it's harder to defend against these goofs whether intended or not. Use a good credit card too, along with said proof in case you need to open a dispute.

Reference 2nd from last paragraph, good advice.
That's what I did when I traded in my Note 8 for a 9, even took a final video of it being boxed with their shipping label .
You guys making me feel very pessimistic about the final outcome of that trade in. I was able to confirm the picture they sent is the right IMEI.
So will see.
Stil waiting on the result of the new test
Quick update here... received email today saying trade in was successful. Glad i pushed them to test the phone again.
Thanks for the feedback

Question So Who has pre-ordered?

Just pre-ordered the s23+ in Green, (never liked the square design of the ultras) to replace my Pixel 6 pro. This is my first Samsung since the Galaxy S3.
I pre-ordered going from S20+ to S23+. Honestly, I am not that excited about this phone as I think S20+ is one of the greatest phones they've produced in recent memory. By doing this "upgrade", I am losing a lot of features and options. I am still debating with myself if I should cancel the order and keep the S20+ for another year...
Here is the list of downgrades: No SD card, RAM reduced from 12GB to 8GB, No MST, lower pixel density, fewer cameras, slower wireless charging, No FM radio, and probably a few other things...
My main reasons for buying it are: bigger battery, more storage space, faster processor, and I'm worried my S20+'s battery would degrade even more as it ages...
Yep, graphite expected in 3-4 weeks, 1+8 retiring as it will only get security updates this year and the 10/11 have no released bootloop tool
Hello to replace my p7pro that I sold I bought this Monday the s23plus that I received yesterday ( Boulanger marketplace in France)
Have had mine for a few days now. Upgraded from s10+ as my battery had degraded so the phone wouldn't hold a charge.
A bit different having no buttons on the left, no headphones socket, no sdcard but I guess no modern phone has kept all these features.
Scrolling is very smooth, but otherwise I've set the phone up identically to the s10+ so I've not really noticed any difference yet.
I hope I can find a way of making the torch load by holding one of the physical buttons like I did on the s10+. (I know I can use double click on thr power button but I want that to be the camera).
Just pre-ordered the s23+ in Green to replace my S22+!
Received today.
Where are you located? Mine was shipped today, but FedEx says they won't deliver till Wednesday of next week even if it gets here sooner.
Québec, Canada. Phone was in stock in Ontario.
Samsung said they will send my phone February 8. That's what they did and received it February 10 with Fedex!
Graphite so 3 weeks wait or so

I did the same. Although design and exteriour changes are minimal, the way the S23+ performs compared with S22+ is way way better. Oh, and I can easily get 5-6h SOT whereas with my S22+(snapdragon) I never passed 4h-4.5h.
still waiting for mine from EE in UK.
Was going to get it from samsung direct but the website wouldnt allow me to cash out so thought id just do it through EE. Got a text recently saying "good news we will deliver earlier than expected" and heard nothing since.
Just pre-ordered the S23+ in Graphite
They said they had it in stock at time of purchase but are now saying up 4 week wait
EDIT: The date changed to a 7 week wait!!!
Have just cancelled and re-ordered the S23+ in Phantom Black instead.... Should be in my hands Saturday morning
Finally got mine, set it up last night and just going through all the app installations. I prefer setting them up fresh rather than from backups
