I have a Galaxy S and recently bougth a SIMORE dual SIM CARD Adapter.
It works fine but I have suggestion for someone to develop a Android App to give a better support to such devices based on SIM card ID.
1) Identify which card is running (I know there is MultiSIM but it's not working on Galaxy (at least with this Simore adpater).
2) Based on SIM Card ID change APN Settings. There is an app called APN Switcher but it only force closes on my Galaxy.
3) Maybe have an option to create a short cut to switch between SIM Cards. (that might be a little more trick since one has to know the codes from the adapter right?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi! I want to disable the sim card-scanner, i have no use of it anymore because i had the sim card reader removed because of damage to it, it just gives me an annoying notification (i'm using my g3 as a wifi phone). Is there anything to delete in root explorer or do i have to write some code? Thanks!
Is this feasible? I am trying to export the contacts from an old SIM card using the D2G as sort of an "adapter".
Insert the SIM card, then start the Manage SIM Card app, it comes preinstalled.
«Import SIM Card» will let you import contacts from the card. You don't need to perform band unlock for this to work, although I'm not sure if it's possible to import contacts if your phone is SIM locked.

Hm. If I've never bothered to deal with the SIM card feature I would assume that my phone is still SIM locked. It is rooted though does that make a difference?
The SIM lock can only be removed by entering the unlock code. There is no way to circumvent it.
You might be able to get the contacts from the SIM if you bypass the SIM unlock screen, though.
Well, I'm not seeing a "SIM manager" application. There is an applications installed called "SIM Toolkit" which I definitely didn't install, and doesn't seem to open up any options.
The phone seems to support SIM devices.. :

/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/name
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/type
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/sim_availability

Are you on 4.5.x or on 2.4.x firmware? “Manage SIM Card” appears in my app drawer on 4.5.608 and it's a stock application. I don't remember its name in 2.4.x, alas.
The app won't do anything if you don't have a SIM card installed, however. Upon inserting a SIM card and powering the device up it should ask you for the SIM unlock PIN (obtainable from VZW for free provided the phone is active, and you have been a good customer and paid all your bills on time). It won't happen if your device is in CDMA only mode; the SIM card reader is only activated in Global and GSM modes.
settings > about phone > android version = 2.3.7
I'm guessing the sim card manager is a few versions newer :-/
You're looking at Android version, not System version.
There is no official firmware for the DROID2 GLOBAL that runs Android 2.3.7. You're probably using custom firmware (CM7?), and you should refer to its developers to learn how to import contacts from the SIM card.
Most probably the contacts app supports it itself.
Hi
I'm working on an app to automatically manage APN settings for my company's sim card.
I got it to work on single sim phones, and on dual sim phones if the sim is in slot 1.
When the sim card is in slot 2, I get an exception stating "No permission to write APN settings"
Has anyone ran into this / has any idea of why the different behaviour from slot1 to slot2?
Thanks.
Hi
I have made some research but can't find any.
I have a huawei nova 5t; dual sim phone. both sim cards are active, one is used for making/receiving calls and the second sim card is only for 4G mobile data.
I'd like that on the notification panel, only 1 sim notification is shown and hiding the second active sim network (for the data).
bottom line, both sim card will be active.
any idea how to do it. thanks.
