Is this feasible? I am trying to export the contacts from an old SIM card using the D2G as sort of an "adapter".
Insert the SIM card, then start the Manage SIM Card app, it comes preinstalled.
«Import SIM Card» will let you import contacts from the card. You don't need to perform band unlock for this to work, although I'm not sure if it's possible to import contacts if your phone is SIM locked.

Hm. If I've never bothered to deal with the SIM card feature I would assume that my phone is still SIM locked. It is rooted though does that make a difference?
The SIM lock can only be removed by entering the unlock code. There is no way to circumvent it.
You might be able to get the contacts from the SIM if you bypass the SIM unlock screen, though.
Well, I'm not seeing a "SIM manager" application. There is an applications installed called "SIM Toolkit" which I definitely didn't install, and doesn't seem to open up any options.
The phone seems to support SIM devices.. :
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/name
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/type
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/sim_availability
/proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/class
Are you on 4.5.x or on 2.4.x firmware? “Manage SIM Card” appears in my app drawer on 4.5.608 and it's a stock application. I don't remember its name in 2.4.x, alas.
The app won't do anything if you don't have a SIM card installed, however. Upon inserting a SIM card and powering the device up it should ask you for the SIM unlock PIN (obtainable from VZW for free provided the phone is active, and you have been a good customer and paid all your bills on time). It won't happen if your device is in CDMA only mode; the SIM card reader is only activated in Global and GSM modes.
settings > about phone > android version = 2.3.7
I'm guessing the sim card manager is a few versions newer :-/
You're looking at Android version, not System version.
There is no official firmware for the DROID2 GLOBAL that runs Android 2.3.7. You're probably using custom firmware (CM7?), and you should refer to its developers to learn how to import contacts from the SIM card.
Most probably the contacts app supports it itself.

I`ve just found an old sim card I used to use in my drawer and thought I would see if it had any credit left on it,but I cant for the life of me remember the pin code I used with it.
Would I be able to find it with a sim card reader or would I need hardware and software(that is a file recovery program) to use the sim card again.?
The same question would I need a sim card reader to restore deleted text messages from this or other sim cards or are they recoverable from the phone memory?
I assuume its the same method for all android phones
TIA
You need a PUK code from your network. Call them up and ask them.
This should help: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f41/puk-code-forgot-your-sim-card-pin-7687/
Thanks for the reply!
Sorry i think you mis understood the question,it is not the phone that is locked just the sim card that is protected with a pin number. If I enter that incorrectly 3 times then the phone will lock and I will need the PUK from the service provider.but I dont want to lock the phone as I`m using it with a differant providers sim card.
I just want to read the old card to see the contacts and sms messages that may be saved on it.But I cant remember the pin I protected it with for the life of me!
there alot of things you can do with a reader even clone the sim or so im told
Which is illegal I believe, if you use both at the same time.
Sent via my iPhone 4G...LOL JK iPhone doesn't do 4G.
I purchased a S6 on EE a week ago. Has been working fine with an ee sim, however I have not made any calls or texts yet, just using the phone for Internet on wifi etc.
I have a regular three sim which I would like to use so I have trimmed it down with scissors and this made me cut part of the gold contact bit off (I read online this shouldnt affect the sim).
I'm guessing this phone is locked as when I insert the sim it detects a new sim has been inserted, it makes me restart too. Upon booting up however it says no sim card/ emergency calls only however I see a solid connection. I cannot make any calls as it says not registered to a network or something.
Now my question is that is the phone picking up the sim card? If yes why is it not prompting me with a sim unlock code screen? Secondly is my phone not detecting the sim card at all? Is that the reason why I am not prompted with a unlock code screen? All help is appreciated. Thank you.
Go onto settings, then onto Mobile Networks, then Network Operators, then Search Networks then click the Three carrier. It will take a few mins to search for all the networks so do not back out.
I have Lenovo A Plus rooted by Supersu and plan to upgrade it to the pro version, in order to be able to set the pin-code to root-access. I have a task to make the SIM card binding to smartphones so that employees can not insert their SIM cards into them. Is it possible to do this? I mean, that the smartphone refuses to work with another SIM card.
Okay. I'll ask the question in a different way.
How in sh-script to get the serial number of the SIM card or phone number? If this is done, then I can put the script on the minute-by-minute execution and cyclically shutdown the phone if the SIM card number is not the one. Any ideas?
Hello,
I purchased that phone off eBay since it was listed as Dual sim, the sim tray support Sim+Sim/SD Card, but only has 1 IMEI, so inserting a sim card in the second sim slot, do nothing. I read that dual sim will be enabled with software update, but I updated software to September 1 security patch level, but nothing has changed.
Service provider software version is: SAOMC_SM-A536U1_OYM_XAA_12_0009 XAA/XAA/XAA
Maybe your card faces the wrong direction ? Contacts have to show to the outside.
Check in the settings menu 'connections->sim-card administration' if there is a (greyed out) second sim slot available and look at 'phone info->status information->IMEI-info' if there is a second slot entry with corresponding number just to be sure that there isn't a software issue.

No. There is no sim card manager settings. Sim card is inserted correctly, only one IMEI, so that's why 2nd SIM is not working
Expected that all sm-a536 devices support dual-sim. Maybe it's a restriction from your carrier or firmware since you still got the Sim+SD/Sim2 slot. Seems the us variants are a bit cut short with no unlockable bootloader ec..
Helloo!! Any progress on this? IF I install another version like the EU one, would I see the dual sim options? I can be believe the phone is hardware capable but the firmware blocks it
Hi every one !
Anyone has an idea of how to unlock the dualsim capability ? Maybe by flashing a different region/country firmware ?
Thanks !
I just checked for a software update and I got the Android 13 and UI 5 update (near 2GBs) and the dual sim capability was enabled with this update. A second IMEI appears and the 2 sim cards got both signal.
Before installing the update, I took out the SD card and placed a 2nd SIM. Don't know if that had something to do with the dual sim capability enabling.
The Dual Sim Capability is not the same as with other Samsungs. You have no option to set a SIM card as default for calls and text or always ask before making a call, and the other one as default for DATA, only as primary, and the primary is the default for everything. But with the Google phone APP I was able to set the SIM Settings to either one or always ask.
It doesn't have a separate Network Mode for secondary SIM either.

Glad I'm not alone in this. It's like pulling teeth with people convincing them there's an unlocked dual-sim us version sm-a536u1 (sm-a536uzkdxaa). Obviously Samsung is little help in this. I've removed the actual IMEI numbers for obvious reasons.
My Tab P11 Plus has been updated to Android 12 recently. The SIM card is detected and shows the mobile provider name on the Wi-Fi and network settings page, but when you tap on it to open the detailed SIM card settings page, nothing happens. I tried a different SIM card and it works ok, the only difference is that the other SIM card doesn't support VoLTE while my original one (that no longer works) supports it. I also tried to remove the PIN from the SIM card and reset all the network settings.
The SIM card works ok in other devices.
Is there anything I can do via the adb, to delete all the SIM card related data? I don't want to do a complete reset, as it takes almost a week to setup evetyhing from the scratch again. Thank you.
