Question Google reminders not showing up on new device! Switch s20 to s23 + - Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus

Hey all! I smartswitched from my s20 to my new s23 plus. Everything was fine, but I noticed that none of my "hey google" reminders notified me. However, they do show up on my old s20 which I use as a secondary device at home.
On the s23, I've quadruple checked every single notification setting ensuring I should see the notification. If I look in the reminders section of Google on my s23, I see all the reminders that were set, and how dare they say I missed it! The nerve!
So what gives? Why am I only getting my new reminders on my old device instead of my new one? Must I sign out of Google services on my old device? (I don't recall having to do this when i had my s20 and s7 edge working together). If I set an appointment for my Google calendar, that does in fact notify me on my new Samsung, just not reminders. Frustrating!
Help! I need real google reminders, and not the crappy samsung reminders.

smartswitch can have its moments. try installing the reminder app or reset google assistant

[Q] Calendar notifications stopped working after connecting talbet to Google Account

Recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 which runs on 4.4.2.
As soon as I connected it to my Google Calendar account the notifications on my Nexus 5 stopped working.
All calendar events appear, with right reminders etc but notifications only go off on the Tab.
So far I tried to see if it is the settings of Google Calendar (which seems to be not) or some syncing issue (which is not).
On phone I have aCalendar while on the tablet I use the S Planner.
Does anyone know what should I look for? ie if it is some service on the phone or something I am missing?

Wrong Samsung account associated with my S2 and apps unavailable

I got my S2 Classic yesterday and spent a bit of time setting it up. All was going well until I went in to the menu on the Gear app on my Note 3 and found that I was connected to my son's Samsung account. I have no idea how this happened as I didn't enter it at any point in the setup. I tried to see if there was any way to switch to my account but there doesn't seem to be. I decided to delete and reinstall the Gear app from the phone and factory reset the Gear but it's still the same. The only thing I can think of is to delete his Samsung account. He has a Galaxy S5 but says he doesn't remember setting up the Samsung account so I think I just registered the phone when I bought it and that's all the account has been used for. What would the effect be of deleting his account and, if I did, what would i do then?
Also, I have seen a list on here of apps which are compatible with the S2. When I look on the Gear app store there are a lot of them missing such as Gmail, GoSMS, Google Music and a load more. I wouldn't think that this is associated with the above problem but can't see why this would be unless they aren't available in all countries? I am in the UK.
I would really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.
Can anyone help please?
The phone is using whatever Samsung account is on it. You will have to delete that account on the phone and put yours on it. You may need to factory reset the watch too. In the app side the disappearing app seems to be a common problem. The apps do need to be compatible with your phone as well as the watch. Good luck
Thanks for the reply. If I delete my son's account I assume that I will only de removing it from the phone and not deleting it altogether?
I removed my sons's account and added mine OK. Thanks for the help. Re the apps, is there anywhere where you can find out which apps are compatible with which phone?
Not sure on that. If you know the app you can post here and ask someone to give you the developers email address
The one I'm most interested in is Gmail and I'm surprised that I can't find that on the Gear app store. Is it not available on the Note 3 or is it that it's not available in the UK?
If you go to your gear app on your phone and then to notifications you can click on manage notifications ands select Gmail and any other app you want to get notifications for on your watch. try that
Yes, I ticked Gmail there when I set it up but I don't get any Gmail notifications at all. I also have Email ticked although I don't have that set up. I have tried unticking that but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I had assumed that I would need to download a Gear Gmail app, I take it that I don't?
Is Gmail set up on your phone? That's where the notification comes from. . There is no Gmail watch app that I know about
That makes more sense! I had been looking for a separate app for the Gear. I have now gone in to the Gmail app on my phone and turned on Notifications. This is partially successful in that it did start sending notifications to the Gear but it also beeped on the phone which was why I had set Notifications off in the first place. It seems to be a bit unreliable though in that only some of the emails are showing on the Gear. I have fixed the beep by setting the tone to be played as Silent. I'll see how it goes over the next few days with Notifications. I'll also re-explore the list of apps I was looking at as I am now assuming that those I thought I was missing are actually not Gear apps at all but Android apps which can send Notifications to the phone. Many thanks for your help with this.
Enjoy
how to find which samsung accounts are associated with my gear s2??

Can I remove email app or account from Gear?

I've recently got the Gear... My work emails on my S8 cause my S8 to automatically enable PIN security due to the sensitive nature of the emails. The same happened on my Gear. But I don't want the hassle of using a PIN to unlock my watch when I use it. I'm not interested in reading emails on my watch. I've disabled email notifications on the gear app on my S8 but this doesn't make any difference. I've had to reset the watch and simply not set up the PIN, but I keep getting reminders asking me to set it up so I can access the emails. I also can't use Samsung pay unless I set the PIN.
Is there any way to just delete the email app on my Gear or even disable that particular email account?
Uninstall email app from watch
I have the exact same question and hope to find an answer or maybe prod Samsung to add this option in a future software update. If you set up the watch in stand alone mode, there is no email app, so it stands to reason that we should be able to uninstall the email app if we link the phone to our watch, but there is no option to uninstall the email app, so I too keep getting pop ups to have a 6 digit non-consecutive password. I did try it for a while, but with my big fingers and the tiny screen, it always took two or three or four attempts to get it entered correctly, so I reset my watch and just keep ignoring the prompt to create a password. I too would love to enable Samsung Pay, but I do not want a password that takes me 4 attempts to enter every time I want to use my watch. I cannot see any reason why I would ever want email on the tiny Gear S3 watch screen. I suspect most people get 100+ emails a day these days and a watch is not a good platform upon which to manage them.

The only solution I found for this was to stop using the Samsung stock email app on my phone. I switched to the Nine email app and to be honest it's better and has more functionality. I still get email notifications on my watch which I like to be honest. BUT nine email does not force you to have a PIN on the watch and Samsung Pay still works.

GMail not pushing notifications

Hey all,
My family has a family plan with 4 of the J3's (SM-J337 via Vzw). Their phones will not push notifications in GMail. At times, they can get instant notification when an email comes in. The majority of the time, they may get a notification 3-4 hours after the email was sent to them. Most of those times, they are on a laptop or computer and see they have new GMail, but no notification on their phone. When they open the GMail app, it refreshes and sees the new email in the inbox.
Quite an annoyance. Is there a possible fix for this? Is this the way the J3 is designed, maybe a way to preserve battery? I don't even know why this would be built this way, with no option to opt for push notifications. They are all on the same GMail build as me with my S10+, but there literally is no option for push.
I don't want to root/flash 4 phones, although it'd be fun. Just looking for a fix for just this issue, if possible. Or if they need to upgrade phones to get push notifications. This is driving them insane, rightfully so.
TIA for any feedback. :good:
Found the issue through Samsung who confirmed. Figured I'd update just in case anyone searched for the same symptom while it is relevant to this device.
Google has pushed out its latest and greatest GMail to all devices, which is designed to work on Pie. It still works on older versions of Android, but not as designed. For this case, the J3's my family is using is on Oreo and is one of the last Samsung devices that will get Pie. The Galaxy S8 series is slated to get the update next, then the J3 and a few others will get the update.
So basically the J3 will not work correctly with GMail until 9.0 gets pushed.

"Hey Google" works 50% of the time, and other google feature issues..

Hi guys,
I have a Galaxy Note10 with stock software (can't load custom roms on this one, unfortunately)
The "Hey, Google" feature seldom works , which is annoying because I use ITTT and a lot of features on there require me to start by saying Hey Google, or otherwise the commands won't work.
I also used to be able to do things like "Hey, google, play the news" and that no longer works from my phone (it does work from a google home mini, though)
It's possible that in the past I may have messed with settings that may have impacted this, I honestly don't know. Is there a way to fully reset it? I've tried redoing the voice recognition to no avail. It's very useful for me as I add calendar entries, tasks, trello entries, do calls, texts, etc all from it so it does impact me when it's not working.
I know if anyone would know what to do, it's XDA! Thanks ahead of time
