Hello! I think it's worth telling everything from the beginning. In the middle of summer, I discovered that my front camera refused to work. At that time, I did not pay attention to it, because I almost do not use it at all. Then, in October, there was a problem with the sound on the phone, it disappeared and did not work without headphones. Before the sound was lost, there were some problems and the sound partially disappeared, but it was solved by rebooting. After the loss of sound without headphones, it came to the loss of sound with Bluetooth headphones connected. With headphones connected, audio and video (in other things, everything where there is sound) stopped playing, I checked, and the problem was not in them at all. Next on the list. On December 20-27, the phone stopped seeing the second SIM card! I decided to pull it out and put it back in, and the problem was fixed for a while, then it stopped being solved with this method. And this morning my camera and flashlight stopped working at all. I'm terribly upset. I decided to check what was wrong with the camera using the CIT, and it said "cameralist don't match". I'm wondering what ways it's possible to eliminate all this ****, and if it's possible at all. and which is easier, to solve these errors or buy a new phone?

Hello,
Like 3 months ago I have bought myself an HTC One S. It always worked well in the beginning, but recently I started having some problems with it.
It's about the sound. Very often I suddenly have no sound anymore. (This is a problem that is not similar to other posts about problems with sound)
If the problem encounters:
- I don't hear ringtones.
- If I call someone, I don't hear beeps but the phones does make contact with the other. The one I call does hear his phone ringing.
- I can't hear my own music. Also can't even play.
- No sound with the radio.
- I can't play videos/movies. Video/movie doesn't start. I get an "not supported" error.
- I get an error if I play Youtube video's.
- If I play games there is no sound. If I turn the volume louder in game, it's turning the Ringtone Volume louder, not the Media Volume.
- If the phone is starting up I first get the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen and directly after that the animation screen (Also without sound).
Normally the screen is black for 3/4 sec before the animation screen.
Better said: all the media is not working. (Camera/mic, I don't know yet. I will find out today.)
I think it has also something to do with my Wifi. If I turn my Wifi on, the media stops working after an hour. But also without Wifi turned on the Media stops working but less earlier.
I can fix this problem by turn Wifi off and restarting the phone without the SIM. It's not always working but very often it does. If I restart my phone with SIM, the problem continues.
I already tried a factory reset, but the problem came back again.
Earlier I had rooted my phone and flashed some ROMs on it, but with not much succes. So I rerooted my phone and deleted recovery and used an RUU to make my phone as how it was in the beginning. I have the latest update now.
I have this problem like everyday and it kinda starts to irritate...
Can someone please help me with this?

I was was wondering if you have found a solution to this already? My HTC one S shows the same problems since yesterday.
Which One S do you have? S3 or S4?
Still got warranty?
Verstuurd van mijn One S met Tapatalk
What do you mean with S3 or S4. I'm a noob!
This is what I found in the map software information:
Software number: 3.16.401.8
HTC: sense version: 4+
Android: 4.1.1
edit: Did a little search on Wikipedia
Processor and memory
One version of the One S uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8260A SoC (system on chip),[3] which includes a 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait CPU and an Adreno 225 GPU, as well as an integrated HSPA+ modem, GPS/GLONASS module, Wi-Fi b/g/n radio, Bluetooth, and FM radio.[9] The One S also features a standard array of sensors, including an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. The phone provides 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage; however, the phone lacks a microSD slot for additional storage.
In certain markets, such as Taiwan,[10] India,[11] and some European (usually Eastern European) markets, the One S uses the older Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 SoC, with a 1.7 GHz dual-core Scorpion CPU and Adreno 220 GPU.[12] In some markets, both devices are available, notably the UK. The change is speculated to be caused by a shortage of Snapdragon S4 chips.[13] The two versions have slightly different packaging, the S4 is model Z520e/Z520m and states "Processor: Dual Core, 1.5GHz"/"CPu Speed 1.5 GHZ, dual core, whereas the S3 is model Z560e and states "Processor: Dual Core".
It says: 'Dual core'. So I guess it's the S3 then?
having the same sound problems
I'm having the same problems with HTC One. I can't hear the ringing when I'm calling someone, it just shows "dialing".
I can play music/video.

hey,
to keep this thread going:
i have / had the same problem. it started a few months ago and happened only occasionaly, recently it was basically all the time
there was no sound in- or output at all and all the apps that needed sound either crashed or gave an error
i was running some old aokp rom at the time, then tried fixing the problem by changing to some new version of cyanogenmod a few weeks ago but it didn't solve.
2 days ago i restored the stock htc rom with the RUU (ICS), the problem still remained. Then i upgraded to stock JB (4.1.1) and the problem hasn't appeared since.
of course the problem could reappear any time (as it only happened occasionally in the beginning)
let's assume the problem doesn't reappear again: anyone got an idea what caused this? i desperately want to switch to some custom rom again, stock is a pain in the ass :/
my phone: htc one s S4, unbranded EU version (htc_102 or something)
HBOOT-2.15.0000
RADIO-1.15.50.05.29
hope i could help and someone has some ideas
update:
i flashed cm 10.1.3 stable and used it for around 2 weeks without any (sound) problems.
since i had some trouble with force reboots when playing ingress i flashed carbonrom and one day later the sound problem reappeared.
back to cm now.

Hey, same Problem here...
..I had my old One S for 1,5 Years and this problems came up, so I sent it back and got a new one.
Only 4 days later the same problems came up again and i tried hard reset and many other things, recommended here, but nothing worked..
..has anybody an idea what it could be? There are a lot of people in a lot of different threads with nearly the same problems, but i can't find an answer that solves the problems...
PS: Sorry for my bad english
i've just had this delightful issue pop up over the past few days, too.
switched roms but the issue still remains.
Any of you have a logcat? Download "aLogcat" from the Play Store (you can filter it to only show errors - "E/").
I've been having similar issues and it makes the phone unusable. I ran a logcat and found numerous errors related to audio and the feedback I got was that it appears to be a hardware issue.
Post a logcat here and I'll see if you guys are getting similar errors.

installed it and will run it for a few hours to see what it gets.
should i change any of the settings on it or just run it vanilla?
I just ran it out of the box. Stopped it and then filtered it to show errors by searching for E/. Found a bunch related to audio.

i've decided for now i'm switching to magiorom as i've had a buttload of bootloops today on odyssey 3.21, so will monitor it tonight and see if there's anything to show.
for the short time i was running alogcat on odyssey, it didn't show much even though i was switch/using different apps, so that's why i was curious about if i should change anything.
anyway, i'll see how i get on and report back later
Just to keep this thread going I wanted to include some more things i've discovered while searching for a solution to this problem. I use a program called "error log dump" from the play store to view any system errors. The two most common ones I see are: "AudioPolicyManagerBase(261)" and "failed to enable the mixer controls for the speaker". The second one only appears after all sound is lost. Including any audio from phone calls even though it does connect the call.
Recently i've discovered an clue that seems to indicate that this is a software issue not hardware. Whenever I lose all sound I start up the error logging program and hit "start log". Several times the log program started acting weird and not record anything but the sound immediately came back. In fact that is how i usually solve the problem now.
I'm running a rooted and S-OFF phone with the MaximusHD rom. This problem started when my phone was completely unmodified so i know it's not a problem with the ROM.
Does anyone have any idea's as to which service might by causing this? I've searched and tried disabling everything that has to do with the audio.
I tried the above workaround with SIM out and WiFi off reboot, and I've got sound back. As soon as I finish a call all sound goes and can't play video etc until I perform the reboot thing again. Might this suggest something to do with the radio knocking out the sound? I'm a bit of a noob with all this but that's the idea I'm getting.
For the record I'm s-on, and this issue has been present for a few days now, on multiple roms (the issue remained on all 3 roms but is worse on magiorom).

This is why I was curious to see the errors you guys were getting.
I've tried various ROMs (4.2-4.4), kernels (3.0 and 3.4 based), and firmwares (2.15, 2.16, and 1.13) and still experience a loss of sound. Although I will say that lately it seems to be less frequent (Liquid Smooth 2.4, 3.0 based Bubba Vn5 kernel, hboot 1.13).
So I'm inclined to think it could be more hardware related for me at least. Turning my volume up and down repeatedly seems to fix it... usually.
Sent from my One S using Tapatalk
So after using that work around for a bit, it seems notifications work fine, but anything that plays for more than about 10s kills audio again, but not permanently like phone calls.
Also, that alogcat stops recording as soon as it's in the background for me, don't know if that's another issue or connected?
E: this all seemed to start for me when my phone was left uncharged for 3 days

I ran it and called myself from another phone, watched the log, and then used the vol keys (which make that beep when adjusting sound) and watched the log. Saw the errors that way.
Yours appears to be slightly different than my issue anyways, but for what it's worth - I switched to ViperOneS (the last ROM I remember using that didn't have these issues) and my audio never dropped once.
Giving it a try now man, cheers for the heads up
RE: Speakers not working
Hello, my 1+ was working fine yesterday. I charged up my home to 100% when sleeping, when I woke to watch a XDA video on Youtube. There were no sounds coming from the speakers.
I called my phone, the ringer didn't sound off but I was able to hear what the other end of saying. I put on headphones and it worked.
I tried resetting Synapse, rebooting, power off. I made sure the volumes were on. Nothing worked.
Yesterday I installed Facebook app and Messenger, before I slept.
Update:
Oh it works now.
I used Clean master app. And rebooted phone.
I would like to know if that didn't work, what would be an appropriate step to take?
Thank you in advance.
It didn't work again after I went back and changed the Synapse settimgs. These settings has always worked before. I don't know why it doesn't now. I tried the method above and it doesn't work still.
Update:
I cleared the Synapse data and rebooted. It works now.
This step didn't work before as mentioned above, but it worked now.
How come?
Dont use the Sound Control Lock in sound section....i was having same problem and took that setting back off
Speaker not working
hi everyone,
I appear to have the same problem. My speakers aren't working but my earphones and bluetooth speakers are.
the comments above didn't fix anything.
any ideas?
I have the same issue. No external speaker sound. Playing youtube or video clips. just wondering if other people has resolve this? thx
I appear to have the same issue. It appears the phone 'thinks' my earbuds are plugged in while they're not. That results in the speaker not working when I tried to play sound over the speakers and the earpiece not working when I try to call people. I have to put the phone manually on speaker while calling or use earbuds. I am not sure, but I think the problem might be related to the google play app. Rebooting does not work, neither the new version of google play that got isssued today solves the problem.
I could probably try installing soundabout or such app, but that's a bandaid and not a real solution, so I wait for now for a real solution.
edit: Installing Soundabout does not make a difference.

Same trouble here..
Hi! I have the same trouble since yesterday, I have tried wiping all, reset as factory settings, changing roms (from cm12 nightlies to colorOs), reinstalling audio fx and trying with viper4android.. I Don't Know what else to try.. Did you find a solution?? Thanks!
speaker issue solved
I had the same issue. The speaker didn't respond except for alarms & ringtones.
There is an issue with the 3.5mm jack.
Try the putting headfone in & out couple of times.
The speaker will turn on.

Yeah, I'm having these issues as well. I moved my motherboard to another OPO and it seems like the speaker I/O just doesn't work anymore. I can try these solutions, but I'm pretty sure that wiping the entire system and installing different firmwares (ROMs) would fix the issue. I'm quite vexed, to be honest.
My right speaker stopped working after taking my phone from the service center. I gave my phone to change display! My phone speaker is just dead
Speakers mic not working OnePlus X
Hii guys,
I have a sudden peculiar problem.
The left speaker as well as the mic and earpiece speaker are not working.
When I make or receive a call, the dialer crashes.*A terrible state when the phone problem affects basic functions like making calls (basic purpose of a mobile phone).
I have tried factory reset as well, But no magic!
Any immediate help is more than appreciated!!
Thanks
I had the same problem: media audio (youtube/facebook-videos etc.) was not playing through the speaker, but when I plugged headphones in the sound worked perfectly. Notification sounds were playing normally even through the speaker.
I contacted OnePlus live online support and they suggested me to download the "Clean Master" app. I downloaded it, cleaned my phone using it, rebooted, and after that my speaker was working fine!
Maybe you could try this if you have a similar problem.

Well, I can see why you think I'm kidding because I myself didn't want to trust the OnePlus clerk but I'm not kidding at all.
I was amazed too, it actually worked that way: I installed the program, cleaned, rebooted and the speaker was working again.
So maybe it was a software issue after all.
At least people can try this solution because it is so much simpler than rooting your phone / installing Bootloader etc.

Surprising this works for me after multiple reboots and cache cleaning from recovery mode.
More specific information on how I go about with cache cleaning:
In Clean Master:
1. Clean junk files. Grant permission for cleaning more junk files when asked.
2. Continue to "Advanced Cleaning" and remove Phone Junk.
Optional (Found this works when camera or Media-related apps began FC-ing, along with speaker not working):
In ES File Explorer:
1. Go to APP
2. Switch from "User Apps" to "System Apps"
3. Long press on "Media Storage", choose "Properties", choose "Storage", then choose "CLEAR DATA" and "CLEAR CACHE". (System-based phone ringtones and message ringtones will not work for a while until the phone automatically regenerates this info, you don't have to do anything, just wait for the phone to do it's job).
Reboot
1. Reboot and select reboot into recovery.
2. Select "Advanced Wipe", then select "Wipe Cache".
3. Reboot System.
Repeat the above 2-3 times if the first attempt doesn't fix the issue. Usually more phone junk is discovered after second reboot.
Hope this helps!
Hello everyone, two days ago, when trying to send a WhatsApp audio, I discovered that the person I sent the audio to could not hear it, and neither could I. I tried several times and I ended up calling that person. The other person could hear me just fine, so I thought it was WhatsApp error, still, I went into Settings > About Phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone. The microphone did not work, and it recorded kind a sound that was very similar to the one that TVs make when they can't connect to a channel, when you see the black and white flashing screen and you hear that annoying sound. I restarted it, tried sending a few audios to my sister and it worked fine. I tested it again and it worked. Today I sent another audio and again, the mic did not record anything, and when I played it, it sounded the same. Restarted it again, did the test five times, the first two it worked, and the other three it didn't. I'm pretty sure it's a software problem but I want to know if I can fix this anyway before the 7.0 release, in which I hope this will be fixed, along with the other problems I'm having with my Z5, like some headphones won't work and I have to use the app SoundAbout to force the sound to play through the heaphones and the flashlight problem, where it hides the icon that is used to toggle it in Quick Settings. I changed my iPhone 6 for the XPERIA Z5 since I was an Android user before and the iPhone just wasn't for me. I got the Z5 because I thought it was the best combination between pure stock android and good pre-installed Sony apps. I'm really having a hard time with this phone and I'm planning on going back to iPhone. I don't want to, but I will if I can't get these problems fixed.
Please help
Iv got the same problem on my z5 compact. Googling the issue has led me to believe it's a software issue. The problem is apparently solved by disabling Google voice feature from "any screen" but that option is already disabled for me.
Does anyone have a fix for this issue, please.
Hi Guys,
well, the mic issue is not really an unknown to OPO users - I have never experienced such issue, but some time ago my mom let me know she has problems with mic for long time now (she has inherited my OPO), so there I went - looking for an intel regarding this issue.
I have come across some standard fixes for Cyanogen (the last official one by OPO themselves):
- blow out dust/debris from the microphones (done with a vacuum cleaner),
- remove TrueCaller, voice recorder, turn off "Ok google" recogniton (basically not a problem for us, we have Slovak language, thus no support anyway),
- tried other services - like Viber and it worked perfectly!
- tried speaker mode - worked!
So after this I came into the conclusion maybe a drop or something has damaged or something the rear mic for ambient noise suppression (maybe?).
But then I found some info the CnM is the problem itself, so I have just switched to the LineageOS (it is not really a change when I am thinking about it now, well is it?), but this has not helped, still the same problem.
I have found this too and applied too, but, again, no success.
Do you happen to have any other suggestion? How is it possible Viber works? Can be some app such as Viber used as the phone app too?
Thank you, in an advance...and I hope we will come to some conclusions here, I am wasted from all of this...

This is a very unwanted outcome - the phone has been used for recording band's sessions as well where the mic array was used fully, but now calls, yes, are ok, but the recording quality is horrid - basically it was recording like when you switch a call to the speaker mode, where other microphones were recording too and giving that full-bodied sound, now it is like through a gaming headset with a noise cancellation.
What is this issue caused by, anyway? Is it because of a damage of one of the microphones?
Anyone? The rear mic was really handy for the music recording (full sounding). Is it possible to make it somehow toggleable?
Well I just upgraded to new Oreo and guess what? I can't use my Bluetooth headset anymore (Blue Tiger Elite). The audio gets distorted or breaking up. Failing to connect or disconnect to/from the phone. Was working fine before update. Tinkering Bluetooth settings in developer mode didn't help since they will stay unchanged after you open the menu again.
Have anyone encountered same problem?
When im paired up with the stereo in my work truck i noticed a pop every now and then.

Audio streaming on Nougat for me was perfect all the time, now since my Oreo update I've experienced constant stuttering and/or growly distortion for a moment at least every ten seconds. Also 'Settings' keeps closing whenever I'm accessing any of my apps when changing permissions for example. It couldn't even pull up my app list, so I've done a backup and deleted at least 300 of my apps, and only now things are slightly better. I don't understand why everything is lagging so much now when before the update, all was perfect.. Help?

Try factory reset, it worked for me. Good luck!
Yes, I'm having the same issue with bluetooth connection and the same Blue Tiger Elite. Just got off the phone with Verizon tech person he is thinking my headset is old enough technology that it won't stay connected.
