Hi there,
Sorry if I am not asking my question in the right forum section.
I just got my hands on a OnePlus 8 Pro Chinese version (I actually live in China). It came free, so I don't complain, but it came with ColorOS 13.
Any pointer to the proper methodology to flash it with OxygenOS ?
For information, it is a IN2020, with 256 GB storage, 12 GB RAM, Snapdragon 865, running ColorOS 13.
Thanks,
Liv.

Thanks. I had seen this thread before, and I will give it a shot. Thing is, I'll need to root my device to backup the persist partition, and I cannot find a clear way about how to do this. I'll dig in the forum some more.

You do not need root to back up anything on your device. The MSM Tool can provide that feature at your disposal.

In the thread you pointed, it's said :
"As this happened on OnePlus 8 Pro, it is advised to take backup of /persist partition before crossflashing (eg going from International to Indian build) as fingerprint reader may give an error related to enrollment issue. You can do so by using dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img (you must have root access, which is not something I'm going to explain here) and moving it to your computer/cloud."
Seems to me that root is needed.

How did you brick the device? Can you still boot to bootloader mode?

Just contact support saying you want to go to OOS, that local upgrade of OOS builds over H2OS don't work and they will send you an email with unbrick tool package link. When L2 support will remote in your computer, keylog them so that after the end of the session you can download the file back, use the password and then have a copy you could share here.
pls upload msmtool and share if u have get. i bricked my phone.
While i am no beginner when it comes to modding phones, having done so with Samsungs Sonys and my last HTC 10. But this is my first Oneplus and my first time dipping toes in the world of A/B partitions as well. My device is a 1910 GM21AA. While i have gone through the guides regarding bootloader unlocks and magisk rooting, I have failed to grasp some more basic aspects. For one thing, i seem to have the Chinese variant but mine isnt Hydrogen OS, i am currently sitting on 9.5.3 OOS. I was wondering how i could perhaps shift to the Global firmware. Am i to take the latest 9.5.11 OTA from https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...7-pro-global-repo-oxygen-os-t3930585#poststop and simply put it in the download folder and do a local update from the system update on the phone? Thanks in advance
Use the oygen os updater from the play store download full rom which is around 2gb and do local upgrade.
FYI GM21AA is Indian Version

the packages shown in the app seem to be the same zips in the thread i linked...so all i do is take the GM21AA from the thread and just do a local update? I read that 1910 is the Chinese variant for my device but it has this GM21AA build which just made things so confusing. Thank you.
I would now like to know of things i can do to bring my OP7Pro to life in case something ever goes wrong with Local storage updates or just Fcked up in general

That should do.. it should give you an error if the update is incompatible. Incase you mess up you can always fastboot and update using this thread https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/foru...ock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424/amp/

I could be wrong, but I think that's the norm with everyone since updating. Thinkni read it in one of the XDA forums around here somewhere.
How do i roll back to full stock if i am on custom rom? This is unfortunately also my first time dealing with A/B partitions.
Aside from these, i have been going around the forums and had a few more questions that i hope someone could help me with....
1. Whenever i come across a rom not based on OOS, i keep coming across never wiping system or vendor, why is that?
2. I come across flashing OOS a lot, how do i flash OOS when i am in a custom rom not based on OOS?

there is an apk to installnand enables it again with limited functionality
or use MSM tool to go back to 953 and tibu backup and restore on 9511

maybe because they found out we're forcing VOLTE?

Do i use MSM tool or fastboot method whenever i need to get back to complete stock without any root or twrp? If so then i think MSM tool or fastboot roms would be a great way to go. 1 question, does using msm or fastboot return the phone to stock while keeping the bootloader unlocked? Also, is it ok to downgrade to a lower version of OOS with MSM or fastboot roms? i think 9.5.11 for me introduced some random background battery drain and this weird mobile data bug where switching to it doesnt enable the connection until much much later
I personally use fastboot. All you need to do is plug the phone in>Boot to fastboot (hold vol up and down and power all at once)>On the computer launch flashall.bat (dont run it as administrator, just launch it).

Do you use it to downgrade or whenever you need to go back to full stock after modding? does it keep the bootloader unlocked or does it relock it? Thanks. Sorry for the noob questions. This is my first Oneplus. I have kept my device stock until i get a good idea of how to deal with things going south.
I need a little guidance regarding this thread

If its possible or if anyone can. I need the param.bin and persist.img from the tmo OnePlus 8t. My goal is to revert back to tmo OOS but I cant back up my device's param nor persiSt because it recognizes the device as an OnePlus 9R. if anybody can donate me those two files, I can test and verify if I can return to TMO OOS and help others that might be facing the same problem as I am facing. Here is the msm tool for TMO users:

EDIT-: Managed to get hands on a param.bin from a fellow 8t user. By flashing it I managed to restore my device to OOS TMO using the MSMDownloadTool. I suggest to everybody to backup their persist.img as well as the param.bin no matter the case. Those two files can save you from troubles that MSM might not help with especially if your persist.img breaks.
I might be able to help you. I'm a little rusty at the OP devices. I have my 8T unlocked but still using stock. My only need for root thus far was to run a specific app that interfaces with the Qualcomm radios. I took an OTA and never rooted after that. I reckon if I could get to QFIL mode it's just a simple DD command. I may have a stock TMO ROM somewhere too. I'm currently 11.0.12.14.KB09CB. Which version are you looking for?
Glad that you have answered

Hello,
I have a Oneplus 8 5W from Verizon, and I followed a topic to unlock the device which I did successfully. However, I'm stuck in Fastboot. I tried installing TWRP, but couldn't utilize it to flash to software. Can someone help?
You should have used MSMTool to get a clean build of Android 11 prior to doing the unlock process. Repeat the instructions again.

I believe the TWRP is engineered to be cross - device compatible. You can use it as normal, provided that it is working.

How come, since it works perfectly?! I often encode, recode, cut and edit video on my unmodded ArrowOS 11 Poco X3 Pro, and have no issues. Unbelievable!
99 percent of Poco bricks on this forum are caused by inept people tinkering with parts of firmware they should not tinker with. Well, besides indian Poco versions, those were abysmal.
I had this issue also, i fixed it by flashing xiaomi.eu fastboot rom, used batch file (present in rom zip) for clean install.
