Question Call Screening not available - Google Pixel 7 Pro

I've just received my P7P. Before putting the SIM in the option was there. Since inserting the Vodafone UK sim its not there any more.
Have Vodafone UK taken this feature away?

I have SIM free P7P with EE sim and screen call is available. You can uninstall phone app and reinstall to try. I think it is related with app.

Thanks I cleared the cache and even re in stalled the phone app. No call screen. Very strange..

A great third party app for call screening that I've used (paid version) is Mr Number

You don't have a hint what is call screening. Your suggested app hasn't call screening.

Exactly. Would be better off saying something like "Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that app doesn't have the exact function I was looking for. I'm specifically looking to do "this"."

From what I recall, when call screening was first out I got it activated here in Canada by changing my default language from English (Canada) to English (US).

This isn't good to respond on thing what you don't know. Better do not respond then misleading to person who looking for respond.
To make clear, here is someone who expline what it is.
If you looking that way with misleading info then go to reddit. This is I believe forum where people know what they talking about.

Dude. The guy is a recognized contributor. He didn't get that title for not knowing what he's talking about. Your response was rude and that's why you got the comment you're referring to.
EDIT: I think I'm realizing now what you're referring to. You want Google Assistant to answer calls and transcribe the conversation on screen. I haven't checked the video you posted, but I'm not sure/I don't think there's a way without the Pixel's call screen and Google Assistant

Here it goes, now you understand (congratulation) what is call screening. It is pixel phone feature. And yes assistant speaks to person. So tell me where was point to suggest 3rd party app which doesn't do call screening. Pixel phone detects scams, fraud calls as well and you can block them but isn't so good as Hiya. Samsung phones has (Hiya) built in one of the best spam, fraud detector.

No idea then. Call screening is available in the UK

As I said for me Call screening works and no issue. Do not quote last post if you not read whole thread. For @mwatson maybe it is Vodafone restriction.

[Q] I need some calling apps that dont charge connection fees

sorry not interested in kakao, line, or viber type apps. I need to call out to family in a village up in the philippines. Anyone have a list or anything? there are too many f'ing apps on google play and I don't know which one is better. Some seem ok, but have outdated comments.

You need a app that can call landlines basically. There are a bunch of them I've tried rebtel, global call, noble...err i forget the name. I don't know what you actually mean by 'better'. You should try Global Call, its probably the cheapest at the moment, that is if you buy credits.
I did you a favor and found a promotion link they're having from their fb page. Basically you buy an XX amount of credits and you get that same amount back. ( I cant use it since i dloaded the app way back last year). But you can and show your thanks by sending me some credits
Anyways, here you go bro, Global Call bonus page.
When it comes to voip apps, I usually stick to the less popular ones as they need to 'give' more than the popular brands to attract customers.
Sweet man thanks. do you know if it works with wifi? no mentioning of it on the page you gave me. I installed the app but i cant try it out until i purchase credits.

Well, if a computer is involved Magic Jack would be the cheapest. But for calling other phones both mobile and landline, Global Call is the cheapest by far. You should check out their promotion in the link I posted earlier. That is, if you've never used it before, as the promotion only applies to new users.

RMA Email

How long after arranging an RMA over the phone should it take for the email to come through?
I filled out the contact form, where they call you back. I was logged in, so they had access to my email etc. but it put me through to an Italian call centre, who answered in Italian... She then answered in English after I didn't have a clue what she said. Then struggled understanding my email address etc. so I'm not sure if she understood it correctly. She did read it back, but I still think she may have screwed something up.
It has been over two hours now, and I need the replacement phone as soon as possible. How long does this usually take to come through?

It's now been 2 days and it still hasn't come through. Is the email supposed to coincide with the arrival of the replacement device? If so, I'll leave it a few more days.
But I really think this Italian woman screwed something up... Might just call them now to confirm.

RMA for new Verizon Pixel

So my speakers have blown in my pixel and I contacted Google to get a replacement. Since I didn't buy it from the Google store they won't over night me a new phone, and said I have to return my phone before they will send me my replacement. This means I'll be without a device for up two weeks, depending on how the holidays effect things. My question is this, has anyone started receiving updated pixels yet? I don't want to send in my device that has been unlocked just to have it replaced by a device that I won't be able to unlock. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Surprised Google didn't tell you to contact VZ. I think you will still be OK. They are not shipping 7.1.1 yet and I bet it will be a long time, if ever, before they do.

Isn't there a Verizon store near you? Where do you live? You can also have them cross ship you, meaning you pay for the new one and they credit you when they receive it back. Have them bill the cross ship to your account if you don't have available credit or cash. Come on man, there is more than one way to do this. Use your ingenuity.

I asked the Google rep if that was an option and he said no! I had to have the Google store version to be shipped over night. no pay now we credit later given.
Hmmm.. So will they be sending you a Google version or Verizon? If you get a Verizon and it's on 7.1.1 you're SOL. I can't understand why Google would even offer to replace a Verizon phone.

Not sure why you are saying "if ever" implying there's a chance they might not ever ship with the 7.1.1 update which is not true at all. They 100% will eventually ship with it.. they didn't make a bunch of pixels and are never going to produce them again. I bet mid January we start to see them shipping with it

This whole thread makes no sense at all. If you have a Verizon phone why the heck would you call Google? Call Verizon and get it replaced. You are missing an important part of this in your explanation of the issue. As it stands no one can help you.

The operative word is, "trying" to be a hardware company. Apple already is. For many years and with revenue to match. Perhaps when Google makes as much money on the Pixel as Apple does on their iPhone brand then things will change. Also, there is only one device that runs IOS and many multiples that run Android. If you want Google to only allow Android on their own devices then I think you might be closer to what you are asking for.
As for your point about Verizon, have you called them for the replacement? That's your next step.

I'm wondering if you're responding to the wrong person. I'm not the one returning anything.... this time. That's OK. We're good.
To answer your last paragraph, yes, I've done plenty of returns with Verizon. Lol. I have over 40 lines with Big Red since 18 years ago. They treat me very well as far as returns and customer service in general. It's usually "no question asked" kind of thing.

Which packages to remove on Oreo?

Hi everybody!
I'm having issues with battery life, I noticed that much of the battery is consumed by the android system process, and therefore of all the many samsung packages.
I would like to know if anyone has a list of packages that can be safely removed from oreo, after I will remove them with adb commands. I would like to use an app as a package disabler, but now these apps appear and disappear too often from the store and the feedback leave me a little confused.
Can anyone help me?

I believe you didnt understand mate...
I bought these apps twice, with the same account, my only one. And both apps I bought have disappeared from the store, like their developers. In my Gmail I still have the purchase invoices, opening the links of the developers dont appear to me anything, they disappeared and, probably, reappear with other names.
Reading on the forum it seems I'm not the only one to have noticed that these developers appear and reappear, so users have to repurchase the app every time

Well yea, if the original app is removed, then a new one appears in it's place, then it is a different app, even if it does the same thing / seems identical, maybe the dev sold it to someone else who has re-upped it under a different name, either way you'd need to buy it again

I don't think so... In the mail invoice that google send when you make a purchase there is always a contact email from the developer near his name.
The contact email that I see in my old invoice is identical to the contact email that is here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpremium
So I would say that the developer is always the same, He simply likes to reappear always with different names so as to take more money from those who are forced to buy back the app every time, it's simply a dishonest trick

I guess if you want to disable packages, it's gonna cost £2~ every time you reset your phone if it gets blacklisted, I've only reset my phone once in 12 months, £2 odd every 12 months is fine
At least there is a non root option
In the end, after 2 days, the developer replied giving me a code to redeem the app for free from the store.
Now with Package disabler pro (with that xml list) and Greenify, the battery life goes a bit better. I do about 4h of screen on (compared to before I was about 2h30m).
