Agreed YouMail is awesome. You can use the free service but I gladly pay the 19.99 for the year for this great service. Well worth it.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed (if it has and it's been buried, it's probably about time we discuss this again).
I'm looking around the AT&T bloatware (which I'm hoping to remove soon) and touched the Where (W) app. The Terms of Service (TOS) pops up. Some of us will just touch OK right away. Some of us will read. On my first Cap, I just touched OK and quickly saw what Where was about. Didn't like it. Never used it again. I returned my device due to GPS and Power issues and got my replacement Cap. I launched Where again while playing around and this time I read the TOS. In red, it says that if I continue to use this service and if I don't cancel within 7 days, I will be charged $2.99 per month. It also gives me a website to review all of my mobile app subscriptions. I checked out the site and found 3 subscriptions of $2.99, $2.99 and $4.99 per month that I have been paying. I don't remember at all how they got there. They were services I have never even heard of which I don't use.
Review your bill! On AT&T online billing, click "View Full Bill". Scroll to the bottom of the page under "Mobile Purchases & Downloads". See if you've been subscribed to something you didn't even know about.
Addendum: Call or Chat with an agent and have them install their Free "Subscription Block" to your account. It prevents any fee-based monthly services from automatically activating without your knowledge. You will be given a code when AT&T puts this block in effect. When you decide to download an App that requires a purchase or sign up with a fee-based service, you can then use that code to make the purchase.
My bill day is 8/21 and here it is 5 days later... i still can't view the actual charges online. wish i could
I think it's to be expected by now to be charged a monthly fee if you plan on using any of AT&T's bloatware. Personally, I refuse to even open any of their programs for fear of having random charges on my bill. Just avoid them until you get them uninstalled.
From a business perspective it makes absolute sense why they do this. The general population has no idea of the free alternatives. These same people won't notice or care to check out their monthly bill's when an extra 2.99 is tacked on every month. I bet AT&T makes a killing off this stuff.
I agree, when I sold phones they offered a ton of free stuff, as in free for one month and then you started getting charged a couple bucks.
I was nice enough to tell the people to call and cancel the services if they didn't want them but most reps didn't even mention it.

Couldn't find what you're pointing to here. The Mobile Purchases and Downloads part.
You're probably fine then. I guess if you haven't (knowingly or unknowingly) made an online purchase or download, then maybe it doesn't show up. You're probably ok.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I did click on the Where app once though, so I was curious. Hopefully nothing went through. That last part about the confirmation code to prevent auto subs though is a good idea.

When did you launch the Where app? It probably won't show until a few days later. If you have successfully launched it it's guaranteed that you will be charged $2.99 per month if you don't have the purchase block feature and if you haven't canceled within the 7 days grace period. Just look out for it in a few days.
This was a couple weeks ago. I think it was even before I got my monthly bill. Hopefully I'm set and don't have to worry about it.
Also, I tried the last part in your original post about talking to a live rep and having someone put that auto-subscription block on the account.. the rep never even heard of it and directed me to call customer service instead.
Hmm
I stupidly clicked on Where. Now how do I cancel it?
Thanks for the heads up. I found 2 charges on my bill for them called att up and had them cancel it as I couldn't find where on my account I could cancel them. I also added the block to my line as I already had it on my daughters line.
Funny thing is that I work for verizonwireless and know all about this and see it every day but I fell victim to it. They credited me back for the charges which I wasn't expecting at all.
Glad I can help.

Call your agent and ask about the Mobile Purchases and Downloads. They should know about this. Not all agents know, as we have read so far. But mine was able to refund and put a block. I had I'm a happy camper!

I'd try it but you have to pay and register it. I only use freeware. Too bad. But thanks for the info.
Edit: I simply cannot afford to buy apps yet. I can't work for a living so I have no income...

i didnt buy or regester :\, but ether way it was disappointing.
There is a free version floating around XDA that, you don't need to register. I tried it and liked it, so I registered for the full features. It costs $10 and the extra features you can't use unless you speak chinese. Total waste of money be warned.

Hi I currently reside in the USA and spotify (because of the darned record companies) has not made its way over here yet. I heard that if someone invites your or someone based in the UK or other countries where its supported signs you up you can use the service. So being that the community here on XDA is full of surprisingly generous people I thought I would give it a whack and ask to see if anyone could help me I am willing to donate via paypal if someone truly can help! THANK YOU FOR ALL REPLIES
I tried all sorts of proxy methods already and it seems as though they blocked this method....

I'm on it I'll just fill out some random name and stuff. You can change it yourself later.
Btw, i need your email. PM it to me
I am sorry, but it won't work. Maybe it'll work at first, but the free account only allows you to listen outside the allowed countries within 14 days, after that you won't be able to listen any more. And to pay for the service you need to be in an allowed country, otherwise you won't be able to pay
Yeah, you'll just have two weeks, but that's two weeks of sweet listening
Hi,
Does anyone have a code that I can use to activate my premium navigation for life on my Desire S. How can I activate it ?
Thanks
bump...
?
Read the rules of the forum mate.
Asking for illegal codes to activate software without paying for it is...
...wait for it...
...illegal
Therefore you will get no help on here as people don't want to see XDA punished just because you can't be bothered to use Google properly.
Since when is a code illegal ?
Many companies give out free redemption codes for enabling the software.
From what I remember, Premium Navigation was bundled with the Sensation - and there was a code in the box which you used to enable it for life (but without the voice navigation).
Other HTC phones (and the Sensation in some markets) required you to pay £30 for the lifetime license - therefore obtaining the licence code from somebody else would be illegal
Also, the app is crap and you are better off using Google Navigation anyway - for free and legally.
I see, pity they didn't give it for free though...
google navigation is far better than anything out there. In case your country is not supported by google navigation you could use the modded app below -

Yeah, just a pitty they couldnt have let use use their "own" system for free for life. I am not sure if the google nav works with the "car panel" ?

i know... what's the point slapping on something that's not even fully functional? I think the price they ask for actually goes to Route66... they are the navigation service that powers HTC Locations.
HTC should learn something from Nokia here. Their maps and navigation on the new Lumia series is excellent. Comes bundled with the device and it is free!
Yeah I thought it was Tom Tom though. Wish I could somehow get a code for it....
Yippee another chance to slam route 66!
They suck!
Paid full price for lifetime license, but the code didn't work. Route 66 didn't care and refused a refund. If you want premium off-line voice guided navigation, i highly recommend Co-Pilot. Ok i got mine in a half price sale, but it really performs well. Never had a moments problem with it.

Why didn't it work ?
Can you use the code on more than one device I wonder ?

Not sure why it refused to work. This was while my phone was still stock too. I factory reset it a couple of times, followed all their instructions, but the licence just refused to validate. I would imagine that each licence key is attached to a specific IMEI number, else they'd only ever sell one licence!
Route 66 blamed Google, HTC, then me. They were unhelpful, patronising and rude. They made me so mad!
I've been sure to warn people off in my guide (52,609 views) and in my Amazon review of the Desire S (229 people have found helpful). Say 50,000 downloads of the guide, and 200 people actually bought the Desire S on Amazon, if I was only 50% successful in warning people off Route 66, it'll have cost them £502,000.
How's that £20 looking now Route 66? Huh? Should have refunded me.
Haha, yeah if I could just get my hands on a spare license or two (I have two desires) then I could actually see if the nav works better than google in the long run.

It works splendid. It even re-routes when you drift from the suggested route within few seconds. Car panel is a separate app by itself, right? this is a modded Gmap with navigation functionality.

sorry not interested in kakao, line, or viber type apps. I need to call out to family in a village up in the philippines. Anyone have a list or anything? there are too many f'ing apps on google play and I don't know which one is better. Some seem ok, but have outdated comments.

You need a app that can call landlines basically. There are a bunch of them I've tried rebtel, global call, noble...err i forget the name. I don't know what you actually mean by 'better'. You should try Global Call, its probably the cheapest at the moment, that is if you buy credits.
I did you a favor and found a promotion link they're having from their fb page. Basically you buy an XX amount of credits and you get that same amount back. ( I cant use it since i dloaded the app way back last year). But you can and show your thanks by sending me some credits
Anyways, here you go bro, Global Call bonus page.
When it comes to voip apps, I usually stick to the less popular ones as they need to 'give' more than the popular brands to attract customers.
Sweet man thanks. do you know if it works with wifi? no mentioning of it on the page you gave me. I installed the app but i cant try it out until i purchase credits.

Well, if a computer is involved Magic Jack would be the cheapest. But for calling other phones both mobile and landline, Global Call is the cheapest by far. You should check out their promotion in the link I posted earlier. That is, if you've never used it before, as the promotion only applies to new users.
