I have searched through the internet and I see that similar queries have been raised in the past. Unfortunately, no one seem to have found a definitive answer to this question.
I'll narrate my own experience about this problem, and I will post the solution, if I figure out the cause.
I updated my Samsung phone to OneUI 5.0 about a month back, and I'm seeing that the battery drain is significantly more than what it used to be on OneUI 4.x. During the 1st week, I thought that this could be due to some software optimization related background activities (which typically shouldn't require more than 2 charge cycles), but the battery drain continues to be bad even after a month, and probably getting worse.
When going through battery stats, I can't see anything unusual. But the battery just drains. Idle drain is now over 2 to 3% per hour, compared to about 1% earlier on OneUI 4.x.
My phone setup hasn't really changed from before the update. This makes it difficult to find out the cause of battery drain.
Looking back, the two other changes that coincided with the 5.0 update is that I installed a new screen protector (plastic film), and tried a new case. I have been using my phone without a screen protector until now, but this is not something I want to continue doing.
I have removed the case now to see if there is any improvement in battery life. If there is none, my next option would be to remove the screen protector too, just to test it out.
Since I'm noticing idle battery drain even with AOD off, I guess the screen protector isn't the issue.
Does anyone think that screen protectors or back cases can indeed be a cause of battery drain?
No. Screen protectors don't increase battery drain. A case could if it reduces the signal strength ie a case with metal. Carbon fiber is also an excellent electromagnetic shield. I doubt any actually use real carbon fiber though.
All Samsung's should be optimized by hand. Every time you upgrade the firmware you change the playing field. If optimized you risk screwing that up bad. I'm still running One UI 1.5 on this N10+, with a new battery I easily get 12+ hours SOT. I'd rather have the better performance and SOT than the new features especially scoped storage.

I'm using the thinnest case (Spigen Thin Fit) and there are no metal part to it.
If I add up the battery % drained by the listed apps (as shown under Settings/ Battery), it won't explain even half of the actual battery drain. So what is draining the remaining battery?
I have tried a few of the suggestions I found online (turning off NFC, UWB, Suspend execution of cached apps, etc.), but none of that helped. I have gone through the other settings as well, and have pretty much tried all the usual stuff, with no improvement in results.
As with Scoped Storage, it is a welcome change. I would be happy if they provided even more control to the user, than open everything up for apps. You can take a look at this post.

You including the display and Gookill play Services, Backup Transport? I use Package Disabler and kill about 70 apps then use many setting changes. Google play Services is normally disabled. Global power management is always disabled as it is a menace and battery drain for me. All Google, Samsung, Carrier and app feedback is disabled and/or firewall blocked.
Firebase is disabled. No cloud apps except Gmail, enanled as needed.
Scoped storage wastes cpu cycles, battery and my patience. Not needed if you don't make stupid mistakes.
This stock N10+ is still running on Pie, anything from Pie and above is relatively secure. The current load is over 2.5yo, still fast, stable with minimal maintenance. Last fireware update was 3 years ago. No malware at all during that time. It runs like a bat out of hell; a fast 1.5tb dual drive handheld PC with excellent SOT. What's that tell you?

As already mentioned screen protectors does not effect battery usage in anyways. Phone does not know if you are using screen protector or not.

Samsung N10+ all the way to the heavy S22U are hard corner hitting, face plant happy fools when dropped. Good multilayered protection and slightly higher than display side guards are needed to protect them adequately. The Zizo Bolt doesn't add much bulk but adds a lot of protection. It never comes apart or off in a multiple impact drop.
I use Gorilla IQ Sheild screen protectors, inexpensive, long lived and use an easy wet apply hydrocell technology.

Google apps are important to me and I use Netguard to block internet access to apps that should work offline. I also use adguard dns.
My setup is fine and has been working well for years. OneUI 5.0 is the most likely culprit, and i can't think of anything else apart from the case and screen protector that can also play a role, as these are the only changes that were made before the battery drain problem started.

It is not about the phone knowing about the screen protector. The query is whether the material used in the screen protector can make the display draw more power than it would without it.

I prefer to have a minimalistic case, and more so for this phone (S22U) because it is a little too wide. I don't usually drop my phone, and i need the case primarily to protect from scratches and scuffs which are bound to happen over time. I have been using this phone for over 6 months without any screen protector.

Well screen protectors are mainly made from plastic or glass so..
I don't have seen any posts or news discussions on this but still i don't think screen protectors effect battery life in any way.
If this could be tested then it maybe different story if results are different.

I have used both plastic films as well as tempered glass screen protectors on all my other phones, and never had battery drain issues, except on one occasion.
From the stats I'm unable to figure out what is draining the battery. So trying to see what other factors can potentially cause this problem, and I really can't think of anything else that changed before this problem started.

One drop is all it takes. It may not even be you who drops it. Worse a high G impact can damage the mobo; the BGA's chipsets (the SOC) are particularly susceptible to board flex and high G loading.
Been using the Bolt for 3 years and this N10+ looks new, even the frame. It's taken about a dozen drops onto concrete from 2-4 feet with zero damage.
Lol, now that you cursed yourself you might want to upgrade. The Bolt is grippy but doesn't attract dust so it helps keep the device ports clean too.
It's actually easier to use the N10+ in this case and helps prevent accidental screen touches.

I have the Spigen Tough Armour (and some other cases too), but I prefer the Thin Fit and Caseology Parallax case, because both of these provide good protection, are very good looking, and also don't make you feel like you are carrying a brick. The Zizo Bolt case is just too thick and it's design is not to my taste. I would rather use the Spigen Tough Armour instead. I don't like UAG cases either. I prefer sleek looking phones over ones that look like a tank.
As with that unlucky drop you're referring to, I have seen a phone display shattering with the case on. So if it has to be that unlucky, even a good case will not be able to protect it. That said, i agree that the chances of protection is greatly enhanced with a good quality case.
Been using Spigen cases for a very long time and they have done an excellent job (I have dropped my phones a few times, but those are rare). My 6 year old iPhone 7 Plus looks brand new even today with zero scratches or scuffs.

It doesn't happen often sometimes for months, then twice in one week. Sometimes I miss my cargo pocket, etc. Or forget it was on my lap.
The raised guards save it from drop on a flat surface like concrete.
I've tested that, repeatedly
The displays on Samsung's are at the bottom of everything and not an easy repair. It's the last thing you want to break other than the mobo. Frame replacement is even worse. Best to keep them in one piece.
The N10+ is a wide phone and a slippery fish without a case. Some refuse to case them. If it does take the plunged approach with care as the spen has the quaint habit of jettisoning itself. Don't step on it, always make sure it's still nested

The display. Device Care shows it on its second screen. Set brightness to manual and keep it as low as is comfortable. Avoid using in direct sunlight as it also hard on the display. At 30% you'll see a noticeable improvement. Setting to 60hz may also help.

The Device Care design has changed a bit on Android 13. I don't see the option to display more information than what you see in the screenshot.
I have maxed out all my Settings like WQHD+, 120 Hz, Auto Brightness, Bluetooth, Location, etc. I don't see a point in buying a premium phone and then setting it up to work like a mid-ranger.
And my battery was fine on OneUI 4.x with the same settings.

"Improvements" Samsung probably rather you not know how much power these new flagships are sucking down. EVen a 5002 mAh battery doesn't quench its thirst adequately.
Yeah I hear you. It's like mounting Christmas lights and not turning them on.
Try clearing the system cache. Clear system logs with Device Care (I'm still using the version with 360° on it which works very well, I just firewall block it). Sd Maid pro can find junk others can't.
Other than checking and experimenting with the new settings the only other option is a factory reset. You could globally reset all settings for apps which is pretty drastic. Both may not resolve the issue.
Try running in safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps. WhatsApp is a bad one and may not have been correctly updated to play nice with the new firmware.

I will fully charge my phone and reboot it in Safe Mode and leave it overnight to see how much battery drain occurs. If the battery holds up well (negligible idle drain), then we can say it is some 3rd party app that is draining battery.
Will let you know tomorrow.

Remember the Google system apps are prime suspects and they are still running.
Some pesky 3rd party apps insist on invoking Google play Services whenever they run. It's the game that moves as you play it

**********Work in progress************
I just received the ZeroLemon 9,000 mAh Extended Battery and Case for the LG V10 today.
I am going to leave a review here and update this as I use it for the first few charges.
Before I start, ZeroLemon did provide me with this extended battery and case for review purposes.
Like all of my reviews, this does not affect my opinions of the product and this will be my honest opinions and thoughts.
I have attached quite a few pictures to this post, however if you would like a different picture, just let me know.
Let me start this by saying, this case big.
You know this already though if you wanted this huge of a battery in your phone.
This case is not quite double the thickness of the phone.
The phone at its thickest point without the case (The camera hump) is 0.417 inch.
The phone with the case on is 0.703 inch.
The case will add 0.286 inch to your phone.
I find this is still pocketable, about the max that I would want to carry in my pocket but I can do it and it does not bother me.
The flaws that I found in the LG G4 case and battery have been addressed this time on the LG V10 case.
The ports at the bottom all have a small lip to prevent dust intrusion.
The sides of this new case are thinner and do not add any bulk to the top, bottom, or sides of the phone.
They have added Fast Charge capabilities to the battery this time around.
With Fast Charge comes huge decrease in charging times on this battery vs the one from the G4.
This is a welcome addition considering the 6 hour charge times of the past.
This case is much like previous ZeroLemon cases in overall design.
The looks are the same while the case seems to be a little softer material this time.
There is quite a bit of internal structure in the top portion of the case that is extended above the buttons to make this case much more solid than previous cases were.
The sides of this case are flush with the screen while the top and bottom both stick up slightly to prevent your screen from ever touching anything should you lay your phone down screen first.
This slight change from previous cases makes a huge difference in the overall feel of the case in a good way.
The ports on this case all line up perfectly, including the opening on the back for the camera and volume/power buttons.
The headphone opening is large enough for me to use all of the headphones that I have.
The USB port is also large enough for me to use all the USB cables I have.
The overall fit of the case is excellent, I for one am glad that they did not release this case until it was perfect.
DAY 1
Battery life so far has been excellent.
First day I have 3 hours screen time and approximately 11 hours of use.
I did have this connected to a moto 360 smartwatch via bluetooth as well as a pair of bluetooth headphones.
I had about 4 hours of music streaming on and off throughout the day.
I have the screen set to 100% and 2 emails, one gmail and one exchange, both set to push.
I have 55 minutes of voice calls today.
I started the day with the battery at 92%.
The battery is now sitting at 68%.
On an day like today my battery would usually have been at about 15% and I would have had to charge when I got home or swap a battery out.
I do not think it is possible to kill this battery in one day.
If I had had the screen set to auto brightness I would easily get double the screen on time.
DAY 2
Battery life is still excellent, better than the first day.
Ended the day wit 72% remaining.
75 minutes of phone calls.
3.2 hours screen on time.
DAY 3
Battery life is getting better still
Ended today with 75% remaining.
78 minutes of phone calls.
3.2 hours of screen on time.
I will hold off on updates for a few days.
So far usage is steadily improving over what I had already considered excellent.
I will update this again in a week or two with detailed stats.
I will update this section as I use the phone over the next few days and charge cycles.
So far the battery arrived with 56% charge.
I installed the battery in my phone and put the case on it and plugged it in to charge in a Quick Charge 2.0 charger.
It charged to 100% in approximately 45 minutes.
This is the first charge and I let it charge for an additional 12 hours as stated in the instructions.
I do not think it actually takes that long, however it is what is recommended so I will do it.
ZeroLemon recommends to allow 5 to 6 full charge cycles to achieve optimal performance.
I will come back and update this review after 6 full charge cycles with battery stats then.

How's button access? Is it awkward to use? How about the fingerprint sensor?
Thanks for the in-depth review and pictures.

You are welcome, I will update it tomorrow after work.
Button access is better than I expected.
The sides of the opening are slanted so your finger is sort of pushed right where it needs to go.
For the fingerprint sensor... I have the T-Mobile version and do not have the update that fixes the fingerprint sensor.
So you still have to be touching the metal edges for it to work right on mine.
However the if I flex the side of the case a little I can get my finger on the metal edge of the phone and it works perfect.
I would assume once I update my phone to fix the sensor there would be no issues at all.
If you have a version that does have the update for the fingerprint sensor it will work perfect for you.
What about photos? Does the case interfere with the autofocus, or does it cause the flash to interfere with the picture?

I will try, but it will be difficult to get both items to scale. I do have a caliper that I can actually measure both with and give the measurements.

Updated the original post with measurements via caliper.

The case will add 0.286 inch to your phone.
Thanks checked it out. :highfive:

Got mine yesterday. Charged 12 hours overnight and put it in this morning at 07:40. It's now 09:02 so coming up on 1.5 hours and I am down to 73%. I hope the % is way off if not I got a lemon. Probably 1 hour screen on time

Is this their regular case or a ZeroShock Case?
How do feel about the texture of the outter cover? Does it feel slippery? Or real "grippy"
I am getting very similar results. I posted about it in the other thread but I'm thinking maybe we need to calibrate the battery? I just don't know how. But yea... I'm getting pretty much normal battery life.

I'm curious if you have the standalone LG battery charger, does the ZL battery fit or would the cover flap need to be removed?
If you do and it does fit I'd appreciate a pic!
I don't see myself needing two ZL batteries, but it would be nice to know if it's still a good charging option without having to modify.
Based on your photos it looks like it could possibly just fit or be a slight squeeze.
Thanks!

Yep. It fits without any modifications. Just won't close, obviously. Did it on my initial charge so I didn't have to stay tethered to the wall for 12 hours.
Hello everyone, I have problem with my ROG 5 Global Version. Why it's easily reach 43 degree when I play games and sometimes my screen will randomly freeze when I use this phone? I must force restart my phone when that happens. Any solution for this?
Get the aeroactive cooler or reduce your gaming settings using Armory Crate. The hardware was designed with the assumption there would be additional cooling available.

I already use lowest settings for my phone but it's still hot even when I play it at room with air conditioner. Is it normal for this phone to reach 43 or 45 degree when I use to play games?
I never actually tracked the temp, but mine does get warm. If you're in a room that's already warm, that will add to it. If you have a case that isn't properly vented, that will add to it. If you are playing games with intense graphics or constant internet, that will add to it. It's really built for speed and performance, but it seems like they didn't test heat much in real world scenarios.
Check the autostart manager and remove any apps you don't need booting with the system (ie. If you use root explorer, but not the automatic launch, it can be disabled). This also helps with battery life.
You can tweak memory management in Developer Settings to kill background apps faster so less is running both in the background and when it's not being used. This is more for if you are switching between a lot of apps.
I would avoid messing with voltages much unless you know what you're doing, but you can always cap the cpu using a kernel management app. If the issue with building kernels ever gets sorted, we will also have better thermal control.
In addition to lowest possible settings - Undervolting the GPU by 1-2 levels (e.g. using Konabess) definitely does help as well as debloating unnecessary background running apps and sync. Also disable 5G. The Aero active cooler helps a bit too.
But this device is ultimately lousy with both temperatures as well as battery life considering it packs 6000mah. It seems to be clocked way too aggressive for real life use including gaming...

Apps like Google play Services, Backup Transport, Framework and anything running in the background or using data needlessly is the enemy. Cloud crap is just that. Carrier, app and manufacturer feedback not needed.
Optimize the device and take out the trash.
A damp microfiber cloth can be used to cool especially if it's a dry environment.
Don't depend on thermal shutdown to save your device... it can fail you miserably.
There is no IP rating on the ROG Phones, meaning they are not even the least bit water resistant. Just something to keep in mind.

Most phones have some sort of water resistance in 2021, so it's only fair that some may not think too much about pushing a bit too hard on a damp cloth and getting the phone wet.
... You could also just put a cloth in the freezer for a minute and save the trouble of having to worry if you used too much water.

As hot as it's running it would drive any moisture out ie an old school hot box. A moist microfiber cloth will do no harm, but eventually it won't thermal shutdown in time... game over.

Not sure why you are so against a simple precaution, but if you are offering to replace any devices that do somehow get water damage from someone being a bit excessive with the sink, then I will gladly remove the statement.
... You could always feel the device is getting hot in your hand and shut it off manually before allowing it to fry, but that is common sense.
Edit: Seems the verdict is that the warning should remain posted.

I feel like I read somewhere that these coolers were causing discoloration on the phone itself. Others have also cautioned that the extreme cold vs extreme heat of the 888 may create moisture inside the device. This stuff is a bit over my head, and I have no proof of either of these being true.
Have you heard or have you seen anything in regards to his cooler? Its very clear the Aeroactive cooler is not enough, but is the blackshark one too much?

Ironically, I was the one who posted about that. Some reddit users reported it, but that was for the previous design. I'm not sure if this one has the same issue, but it appears to have taken the right steps.

I have the Aeroactive and have used it. No discoloration noticed (at least yet). It's mostly gimmick with respect to cooling however. I mainly use it for the trigger buttons and the kickstand when doing video calls.

Not that one. The Black Shark. The shape of the clip limited how much the cooling could be spread over the back of the phone.

It's hard to see in the photo, but the side facing the phone is now a full plate that will spread the cooling a bit more evenly.
You could always put a damp cloth under the fan and hot box your car.

Not that one. The Black Shark. It was because of the cooling chip being too focused on one specific point (see below).

Ah my bad. Haven't tried the Black Shark. A more efficient solution for these external coolers might be if the device case section above the hot chips are made out of high conducting material (like CPU lids) and in direct touch with the chip surfaces on the inner side of the case (again, like a CPU lid).

Active peltier cooling can do this if the inside of the phone drops below ambient room temperature moisture in the air can condensate. If the cooling isn't temperature regulated above ambient temperature, the RH is high and the device is poorly sealed this maybe an issue.
Simple fan cooling won't do this.
Heat displaces moisture rapidly which is how a hot box ie dry box* works even in the tropics. This is why you can get away with a damp microfiber cloth as long as you don't drip/seep water into the phone. Because of the heat generated by the phone small amounts of moisture inside dissipate rapidly.
*a small incandescent bulb in a semi sealed cabinet. For cam lenses, surgical instruments, or anything that's moisture sensitive. Some are huge glass cabinets heated with sealed steam radiators, some glove box small heated with a 5W bulb.
As per a request for first impressions in another thread, here you go...
Pre ordered a 256gb in green directly from Samsung in the UK. It arrived early yesterday after a surprise email saying it would come a week early. Spent Friday setting up so today was the first real day of use. Still updating apps and extra logins etc but I feel I have a decent idea how it will go as I move from a Note 10+.
Thoughts...
1. Packaging - nicely done and a little quirky. Adds to the event
2. Build quality-feels amazingly well screwed together. The hinge is absolutely solid and tight. No worries at all. The device feels light and is very easy to hold. It is an absolute delight to make calls from, the slightly narrow frame makes it so easy to hold in the hand for extended periods both for calls and screen use.
3. The crease - you can absolutely see it and feel it. After 10 min, honestly, you just don't notice it at all and if you do, it reminds you that you have a phone that folds in half!
4. Speed-it feels rapid and smooth. The 120hz is definitely noticeable and there is no lag at all
5. Battery - it is still optimising so hopefully it will adapt and improve. It came off charge at 7.00am today at 100% and went back on at 8pm with 10% left. This was with 30 min Bluetooth music, 2 hrs browsing, 30 mins gaming, 2 calls about 10 min each and around 50 messages through the day with 10 photos as I played with the camera (director mode?!). Also had a smartwatch bluetoothed all day too. About 5% an hour seems about what I saw today There is no way it will ever go from getting up to going to sleep without a top up but I expected this and am okay with it. To be honest, the note 10 + struggled with similar usage some days. Looks like about 1hr 25 to fill up again from 10% with a fast cabled charge.
6. Setting up - the transfer software is spookily good and it still feels like magic when your old phone home screen appears on your new device
7. Folding - it is a novelty I don't feel will wear off soon.... set mine to answer and end calls as I open and close and the satisfaction is just brilliant. No idea why and can't really explain, it just feels right.
8. Cover screen - far more readable than I thought and is great for checking notifications and dismissing them. I can definitely see the way it will work. Imagine mid range smartwatch abilities on the outside of the phone and you get an idea what it will do. It does more than enough and it doesn't need to do more.
9. Case-Samsung leather in green. Fits great, does what you want it to, will keep it safe enough. Looks really boring. Will probably change it when I get chance for something more in keeping with a fun phone
10. Regrets - yesterday I was a bit unsure, by the end of today I am completely converted and wouldn't dream of sending it back. Amazed.... it feels like a half a dozen steps forward over the note10+ in so many ways.
11. Other people - be prepared for other people to want to hold it and fold it....
Hope this helps someone and happy to try and answer questions if I can
Thanks for the review. I'm coming from a note 9 so looking forward to small form.factor.
Glad to hea opening and closing can answer/hangup calls. I assumed it would bt haven't found anyone mention it.
Regarding the leather case, does it make it much thicker? Does it feel like a thick wallet?

It isn't a thick case at all and really doesn't add much to the phone, it is maybe 1 - 2mm at most. It is very well made and feels good, I just find the green colour s bit boring

I have a 2018 skoda karoq which will have a similar infotainment system. I needed to remove the phone from the car and the car from the phone and Bluetooth as all settings had copied over but wouldn't work.
A re-pair of Bluetooth and then a fresh set up of android auto worked for me. I also used a new cable just in case as it often gets flaky after about 6 months use.
It is working reliably now.
Good luck
Quick thoughts since ...
The camera is really nice and produces decent photos. Not really missing the telephoto lens
And I had forgotten the joys of a fingerprint scanner that just works quickly and first time, every time. Why it ever moved from the power button (I had a Sony z series) I will never know.
Battery is week, but I was expecting it. With battery care charging to 85% it does not last full day for me. Taking of charge at 7.00 around 18.00 it is left with just few percent of battery. 1,5h on screen time. 2-3 hours bluetooth music (that looks to be eating battery fastest), 5 email acounts, 30 min of talks. Smartwatch (garmin - looks also eating quite a lot) connected all day long. + covid tracking app (bluetooth) on all the time.
Android auto connects no problem (MB e class 2017). There was a problem before due to cable. To my surprise just few cables worked out of 10+ i had. Only original ones worked or very thick one from amazon basics.
Tried to connect via wireless dongle (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/) but after connected after ~4-5 min crashes. Did not spend much time yet, but it seams that even if it will work in the end, will be not possible to use as battery is depleating by 3%/min and phone becomes very hot when connected.
Bought aramid cover. Looked nicer than black leather. As aramid cover is thiner by half an does not look to be so scratchy.
Bought samsung rectangular wireless charger with USB C. Wirelss charging works only when original (included with pad) ~18w charger is connected. Tried other lower 10-15w charges and with them the wirellses charging pad does not work. Tried borrowed older Micro USB samsung charging pad, so it charges with any charger, just slower.
Well, this is not good news
I've had my Flip 3 for 4 days now, and loving it. I have contacted tech support for a reason/answer why.

I've had mine for a week now. 8/128, black version F711B. The excessive heating under the cover display is quite disturbing. Noticed it mostly during video calls (GM, Skype, Wahatspp, etc.). When on video calls, it discharges the battery to 0 in about 70 minutes from almost full and heats up so much I can't touch it.
Hoping for a firmware update...

The first day or so when it was downloading massive updates and restoring backups etc - yes. Not noticeable almost all of the time now, occasionally warm when charging
Coming from a Pixel 4 and after using the Z Flip 3 for the whole day, I will sadly be returning it to the box. I love the technology behind it and what the future holds, personally I am waiting for a "mini" version. I find the Z Flip 3 actually bulky and heavy for a device that is supposed to make foldbles more poket-able. To me, It does not feel light and it is not that small either when folded. Plus, I don't get it why they made the screen so tall when opened, it is wasted screen past a certain screen ratio (22:9 !?...c'mon). It is so tall the phone wants to roll around the fingers when texting, you have to squeeze it to hold it. Maybe the ergonomics are better and everything is just perfect if you have bigger hands and fingers? This is something worth trying individually. I didn't expect not to be able to get used to the Flip in my hand, before I received I was thinking it will be love at first sight.
For those who are used to and prefer screens this big and tall, you will most likely going to love the phone, the screen definitely delivers. The crease is almost a non issue. When looking straight at the phone, on a white background like in Messages or Chrome, you will not see the crease.
I have had the device since Saturday. Build quality is top notch and I like the form factor and love the portability. I am still not fully convinced. Battery life is as expected the biggest concern. I think it will get you through a light to medium use day. I mean the idea of the phone is too keep you away from it with digital wellbeing in mind. Checking for notifications on the cover screen should help keeping you from opening and using it all the time. At least this is my idea. I don't want to use my phone that much anymore.
There are still some software quirks which hopefully will get ironed out. And hoping for more features for the cover screen.
Btw I noticed one thing: The cover screen doesn't show an incoming Whatsapp voice or video call. You can only answer telephone calls from the cover directly via loudspeaker. Same for duo. I can't access a call from the cover screen. Can anybody confirm this behavior? Not even showing the Whatsapp ones is really annoying... I am lucky that my Garmin is connected and at least will show it on the watch

Yes, heats up. Browsing web and listening to music via bluetooth heats up quite a lot. Installed samsung labs app and reduced max temp by 2 degrees to get earlier throttling. Not sure it had any effect. Even if it works, 2 degrees too little to notice.
I have had mine out of the box for literally 5 hours. So far, so good, I have noticed some heat build up when wireless charging bit OK when wired charging. Battery life so far is poor but it is still learning usage patterns so hopefully that will improve. The device is very solidly built and the internal screen is beautiful. I had been holding off buying a flip until the external screen size was improved and I am very happy with what Samsung have done here. Cameras are OK, I am no photography buff though! It fits into my pocket perfectly and you cannot beat that fold/ unfold action!
The camera is pretty bad. Coming from an iPhone 12 pro max and one plus 7 pro, it's super muddy. Zooming in, it's a muddy, pixelated mess. Even outdoors in a well lit area, the detail and sharpness is pretty meh. Pretty disappointing since I think I read it has the same camera sensor as either the s20 or s21.

It's the same hardware as the previous Z Flip. You're comparing phones that were in competition for best camera phone to one that tried to pack current Qualcomm hardware into a center fold. The camera and battery are where they brought the price down.
I'm honestly a bit surprised Samsung didn't follow Asus in doing a split battery. The first thing I thought of when seeing the ads for that on the ROG Phone 5 was the Z Flip.
I'm coming from a Note 20 Ultra with the 108MP camera and near perfect action shots. I can definitely appreciate losing quality, but it's also a personal question of whether it outweighs the novelty.
I just got my Note 20 Ultra (Unlocked, on Verizon right now) and so far it's great - but I have a few questions/concerns.
What are some things to know about the phone? Like gotchas, problems, little issues, etc.
What are the first things I need or should do? Disable certain settings? Enable others? Get certain apps?
Can fast or super fast charging damage your battery? I saw on the subreddit for the note20 that people were saying it damages the battery
Is there a way to activate the flashlight without unlocking the phone first? My girlfriend's dad's Samsung can be shaken to turn on the flashlight - not sure if he's using an app or if that's a feature of his phone. Any way to activate the flashlight without unlocking the phone first would be great.
Speaking of flashlight - is there a way to make it brighter? It's kinda weak compared to my Pixel
Any app or game suggestions that push the phone to its limits?
How can I get the most out of my battery?
First get a good case or this corner hitting, face plant happy phone will get trashed! Use a good plastic screen protector or the screen will get scratched. I use the Zizo Bolt case and Gorilla IQ Sheild on my 10+, after close to 2 years it still looks new, zero damage.
Why lock it? Using screen lock is the best way to lock yourself out! May not even be your fault and it can leave you completely boned
Many threads on charging. I've posted info on this many times. Limit top charge to 80%
Li's like frequent midrange power cycling (40-70%). Never attempt to charge a cold Li >40F.
Don't charge one under 72F, >82F is the best start charge temperature.
Fast charging degrades the life somewhat but likely not near as much degradation as full cycle discharging/charging will do.
In a heavily used phone the battery will last 1-2 years. Replacement is no big deal.
Keep display brightness <50%* and don't use in direct sunlight... replacing the display is a big deal.
Use the Samsung Galaxy store for free themes, icon packs and more to customize your phone.
Use the Galaxy Good Lock family of apps!
One Handed Operation + too.
Get a .5tb or larger V30 SD card and use it as your data drive. Store all critical data here... and redundantly backed it up to hdds.
Congratulations you now have a handheld dual drive PC!
Play with it... that's how you learn to use an Android.

First thing I did was get a case! Spigen to be exact, I've used their cases before and like them. I still need a screen protector though - all the reviews I saw were negative, talking about how they stopped the thumbprint recognizer from working, which is important to me.
I like to lock it because I'm paranoid . I trust the people around me, but I don't trust strangers who may get ahold of my phone. I have a backup pattern setup anyways.
That charging information was... Confusing, but it sounds like you recommend what these guys say?
Also, I looked up an ifixit guide for replacing the battery and it seems fairly easy-ish, but where do you get the replacement batteries and how much do they cost?
Why keep the display above 50%? I normally keep it below, but will change if it lengthens the life of the screen.
I'll definitely check the store out - thanks! Galaxy Good Luck looks interesting.
I got a 256gb card, I forget how fast but it was among the fastest when I bought it earlier this year iirc.
Thanks for all your help!

On my 10+ I just double tap on/off.
Security is the thief's fear of seeing their own blood... hands on the phone is game on.
In reality keep it with you, and don't flash/use it in inappropriate places. When out your eyes need to be on your surroundings not the bloody phone.
With no protector the screen will likely get scratched within a half year or less. One grain of sand is all it takes.
Keep an eye on the spen, if you dropped the phone be careful where you step and that the spen is still clicked into it's full retainment position. It's remote shutter release feature is very useful.
I strongly recommend not updating to Android 11. You can't go back even if you want to as it changes the boot loader version too.
You have a lot of fun with this phone...

I'll get a protector ASAP.
It came with Android 11, sadly...

Nothing you can do about that just don't update to 12 when released unless it's proven.
Congrats on your new N20U, @Jogee!
What is the color of your phone?
Must haves for your phone:
Screen protector and clothes (case).
Not great for drops and protection, but I have the Samsung LED case, S-view Clear Cover. I really like Samsung's flip/wallet cases with the sleep function.
Also have the Samsung Rugged case in silver. Very nice case!
I use a Reiko wallet case for extra-extra-protection for the phone when it is wearing skimpy clothes (LED, Clear-view, or Rugged case).
1. Please don't panic if you hear the camera rattle when you shake your phone...it's normal.
2. Here's an excellent guide that I use to disable and uninstall apps via adb that may help you:
(You may reinstall apps via adb if you accidentally uninstall an app...)
Note 9 debloat bash script
Hello, So basically I wanted to de-bloat my note 9, but also understand what I am removing and avoid some troublesome packages. So I looked at the packages from sea-wa's Note9 and S9 Bloatware Removal Threads (thank you sea-wa) and try to find...
forum.xda-developers.com
Since Google Play Services and Google Services Framework are not installed on my phone, I use F-droid and Aurora Store instead for apps and system updates.
I also do not have a Samsung account. Samsung Themes and the Galaxy Store are not installed on my phone.
I am able to use a few of Samsung Good Lock modules, such as NavStar, Pentastic, and LockStar...can access the modules using Nova Launcher's Activities.
3. Not sure, but have fast-charging disabled in Settings.
The phone feels warm when fast-charging is enabled.
4. Yes, you can double-press the power button side key to turn on your flashlight.
Settings - Advanced features - Side key
You can adjust the brightness of the flashlight. There's a brightness menu.
6. ?
7. Please go through your apps and system services apps and disable apps from running in the background if possible. Some apps cannot be disabled thanks to Android 11.
Hope you enjoy using your N20U!
Hello, I bought Samsung galaxy s7 in 2016 and its still working till now super fine. Today the screen just flickered some how and I think my phone is about to die.
I was thinking of buying a new phone.
I want it to be flat screen with aluminium frame in sides and back (glass in back is fine too) I rarely use camera too, I also want it to be super amoled. I want it to feel premium in the hand too.
Which phone you guys I should buy with these requirements?

Try clearing the system cache and a hard reset.
Is the battery still good? That may be the issue.
If exposed to water... that is the issue.
What price range? Any good phone generally comes with a good cam nowadays.
You can get a new Note 10+ N975U1 256gb, 12gb ram running on Q for $800. Picked one up last week, it's pristine.
I would stay away from anything running on 11 though.

I haven't cleared the system cache or did a hard reset in 2 years, so I am sure that would help!
The battery is still decent, I mean it's not as it used to be but it's doing fine.
What actually happens is that screen went crazy for like 10 sec (it flickered and shows lines and shaky pictures, then I pressed the power button and it won't back to normal) this is the first time this incident happens to me since I bought the phone. The phone is actually a beast, never lag, and feels premium, If there is still a fresh new one in the market I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
I am not sure about the price, to be honest, I think your suggestion is very good, I really lean to Samsung, But I don't like Note's :-(
I just want something like my current S7 (None edge) with let's say a bigger battery and a bigger screen.

If it's not repeatable it will be harder to troubleshoot. Try what I suggested. It's long overdue a system cache clearing. If it flickers again try plugging into the charger, if it stops it's likely the battery. Check for signs of battery swelling.
Try flexing the frame, gently, as well to check for a loose connection, display or mobo failure.
The 10+ is a beast and built solid. A case is mandatory for this corner hitting brick that also loves to face plant. It doesn't seem large to me at all anymore. It's very slim 7mm, so even with a good case it doesn't seem that large.
The spen is great as a remote shutter release and smart select is very handy which I use it for a lot now. The curve screen is the nesting place for One Handed Operation plus, no waste here.
The display is gorgeous (no rounded corners) and still one of the brightest with better color rendering than most newer phones. It's a flagship phone in every sense with snappy performance and about 10+ hours SOT. The Buds+ couple seamlessly with it. It still retains its on screen navigation buttons on Q. The Galaxy Store customization on the stock variants are the best on the planet.
Lol, I'm biased as it is my weapon of choice. I picked it over the N20 Ultra for a number of reasons a week ago.

Will try that! Thank you, Blackhawk!
I am checking the Samsung Galaxy S10+ it is really a big leap from S7, going to give that a thought, I really like the ceramic back, ceramic frame! also, the Dynamic Amoled seems fantastic! <3
And it still has the heart monitor!
You're welcome.
Water damage is insidious and pervasive. The faster you disconnect the battery and purge it, the better the outcome. It's possible there's some light corrosion on the ribbon cable contacts, reseating them may resolve it.
A very -little- WD-40 helps. Never get any solvents around LCD displays as it can poison them.
It is possible to salvage water soaked electronics with quick action. My Buds case went straight for a full hot cup of coffee, cream and sugar. Damn thing must have been Pav Tack guided, dead center of the cup. Straight to the bottom.
I couldn't disconnect the spot welded battery but I torn it apart, flushed with RO water, then with copious amounts of anhydrous isopropyl alcohol, dried. 2 years latter it remain functional.
I drank the coffee too
IMO when it comes to modding & rooting SAMSUNG phones aren't the best choice.
