Question Does rooting still work on OneUI 5? - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hi everyone, S21 Ultra owner here: as you guys already received the OneUI 5 (Android 13) update or will receive it soon, I was wondering if rooting still works just as on OneUI 4 (Android 12)? I couldn't find any posts about a successful root nor about an unsuccessful one.
The betas weren't downloadable via Frija so patching the AP file probably didn't work on the betas afaik. I would really like to know if it works on stable since S21 owners are the next in line for OneUI 5. Thanks guys!

Even Full OneUI 5.0 based custom ROM available since beta1, So yes, rooting works as before.
Let me know when first beta release for your device when you needs any help rooting it.

Awesome! I just wanted to make sure before blindly upgrading to OneUI 5 and waiting for Magisk or something else to be updated. Also thanks for your work on custom ROMs. I didn't even realise that it is already based on OneUI 5

Actually nothing much changed in OneUI 5.0 if saying in regards of Kernel. You will surprised to hear that on S22 device TWRP and Kernel based on OneUI 4.1 source working perfectly on OneUi 5.0.
On S21ultra TWRP for OneUi 4.0 working fine on OneUi 5.0 too. Simply flash TWRP + flashing magisk should be fine. Still if you want OneUI 5.0 magisk patched kernel without TWRP let me know.

Replacement for Xiaomi Stock MIUI that can still OTA/less maintenance for non-techie

So I've gotten an Mi 5s Plus for my wife but she wants a more up to date version of Android than what Xiaomi is releasing (current is MIUI 8.5/Android 6.0.1) as they take forever to update.
Obviously I don't want to be tech support moving forward, and I'd like her to be on the latest version of Android. I just really want this to be a set and forget sort of thing, so assuming it would need to be a base ROM of some sort from a major releaser, hopefully there is something released with everything working.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what ROM i could use on her phone so that she doesn't have to worry about updates as she will just receive them OTA?
As with myself she also will require the phone to be NON-ROOTED for her work, along with banking apps (which I'm assuming you can always remove root/lock the phone after installing the ROM).
I don't mind if its a version of MIUI or not but I'd like it so that all the features of the phone still work which I'm assuming would be MIUI.
Thanks for any help.
I think Xiaomi.eu weekly ROMs have OTA, but I'm not sure.
If not than maybe Lineage OS.
Ressurection Remix definitely has OTA.
https://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/miui-weekly-rom-releases.103/
Have you tried the global developer ROM? It is quite stable from my testing and is updated nearly every week. It is Android 7.0.
Are these OTA updates?
Is the global developer rom certified so that Android Pay works?
Also I'm assuming the updates to this are OTA, if I miss a couple weeks can you just update to the most recent one?
Ressurection would be interesting, thanks. Does it support Android Pay?
@umirza85 Not sure. I'd try but I've rooted it.

What's best Oreo rom for S8+ SM-G955FD?

Everything is in the title. I'm actually running Android 7.0 stock on my S8+ (955FD) and I want to give oreo a shot, but I'm confused with all the available roms available. I want something stock, with a minimum customization from developers, instalable through Odin or TWRP whatever, i can access both, and with the minimum issue possible.
Thanks for any advice.

Android 10 release date confirmed!

https://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-10-release-date-confirmed-official-Pixel_id118451
As posted in the link above, Android 10 is set to launch on September 3rd.
As far as i am aware, manufacturers have to configure the Android 10 so it works optimally with their devices. And this process takes time to complete.
Does anyone rember how long it took to get Pie, when it was released for our device ? Thanks
Regarding Pie release: The first post in here appeared around November, while Pie itself was released around August. So it took roughly 4 months.

I am (was) in the Pie beta testing group and if I remember correctly, I got the upgrade around November indeed.
According to a Xiaomi Online Support attendant, 10 will start rolling out in UK this week.
When it's about updates, online supports often says what we want to hear
So wait and see...

No! It shouldnt be january!
Mi A2 Lite has pure Android.
- No Bloatware
- No UI
Plus our device supports Project Treble. They used this feature with Pie update. Our device's drivers didnt updated since 2018 because of the Project Treble they dont need to update those. But it will be good if they do.
There is nothing to be hard.

The hard thing is that xiaomi has problem with our vendor, that's why we don't see fully working custom versions of Android Q , the only way is flashing a gsi version , or Android 10 with custom vendor , so... they have big problem , mi a3 has the same problem , that's why the device is still on PIE (they have promised that the Q update for A3 will come in the end of October)
So... we'll see , miui 11 is still PIE too... so maybe the problem is not that small

Since pie builds with custom vendor is in user opinion "more bugged than with sock vendor" I don't if there is sense to make custom ROMs with custom vendor if users days it more bugged than stock vendor, otherwise I'm still trying to build superior q, of course with custom vendor

Question Android 12 to 11

How to downgrade Samsung 21+ devices from One UI 4.0 (Android 12) to One UI 3.1 (Android 11) via Odin.
I'm looking for the same answer. It's been a long time.. Like 8-10 years since I've rooted or modified a Samsung phone through Odin..
Idk if I can just download the android 11 firmware, unlock bootloader, and flash in Odin or if I first need root access..
Android 12 blows
Yes please. Android 12 is atrocious.
Edit: It's downgradeable ez pz. Just download the latest Android 11 and flash via Odin. I have the Exynos version.
is android 12 really that bad? im using HK set, so no update for me yet.

I'd wait for a few more iterations before upgrading, so they smoothen things out a bit. The interface will stay ugly tho. "Material you" or whatever it's called is the most atrocious thing ever, especially the dark theme. I'll never upgrade to 12, I already disabled the automatic updates.
I have Android 12 and I didn't find much difference from Android 11 in my normal use, just some little bugs on 12 but that's it.

You can skips steps 8 to 21 if you just power off your phone and turn it back on while keeping volume up pressed
EDIT: I did a way easier tutorial here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/u1-one-ui-5-beta-android-13-beta-testing.4477305/

FWIW, I have a T-Mobile S22 Ultra that I fully flashed to the US Unlocked version (XAA) & the Samsung Members app still recognizes it as a T-Mobile device.
As I mentioned in another thread, I am on the One UI 5 Beta, so, I can guess that the T-Mobile &/or US Unlocked versions are currently open to the Beta & AT&T isn't (as of August 7,2022).
Did you end up manually flashing the Beta via ADB?
