What's the deal? I'm using the stock charger and it doesn't say fast charging. In addition, no way to enable it under battery settings.
Did sprint disable it temporarily by default? Read there were some heat issues causing fast charging and s6 Edge issues. Maybe they disabled it until new firmware? I got one of the newer inventory models that is the platinum gold-colored 32gb that was not available until 4/27. I'm on build OCF, says it's fully updated. Perplexed because I've read the battery options shows a toggle for fast charge (which mine doesn't).
Someone educate me!
Update:
Very odd. Once I used an older USB cable from my s4 with the new fast charge AC adapter, fast charging worked! However with the USB cord that came with the S6 Edge it would only do a regular charge. No idea why, but if they have cable issues with what was shipped out, it's going to cause a lot of headaches for tech support and warranty claims etc.
I see others having tho issue also.

Yeah I changed cords and now fast charger is working. Kind of a big screw up by Samsung to ship with the wrong cord.

They'll pay for it in tech support calls and replacements, etc. You can bet some entire phones get replaced because some idiots didnt check the cord itself.
Does the Flex2 offer a notification when connected to a Qualcomm certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger?
I've seen that Note4 does so I was wondering if Flex2 did as well.
Thanks

No, they will charge like a normal device with 5V/2A charger...this is ridiculous i know, the charger have 5V/9V mode and you never know when they activate the fast charge!
But, they charge quick enough to charge...dont mind about it!
Alright, thanks. I wonder if LG just plain forgot to enable this notification for one of the most touted features of Flex2 or they cut a very, very cheap corner.
Whenever I connect my Flex 2 to my Samsung Quick Charge charger it gives a notification saying "Fast Charging..."

OK, thanks. Mine is the poor man's Flex2, F510L. I hope Fast Charge is available on it.
so today i connected my phone to its stock charger the one that came with the phone and a weird thing happened my phone went into download mode and now i get the feeling that my phone isn't charging quickly as before. its only my feeling don't know if its true.
so my questions are
is the phone supposed to show fast charging notification or something like that when connected to its stock charger.(never payed attention to such details myself). and also is the stock charger even a fast charger. since my phone has always charged quickly i always assumed its a fast charger. it does say 9.0V and 5.0V under the output heading.
second
what do u think might be the reason behind that weird download mode appearance. is it the charger, the cable or the phone itself.
i have connected the charger again and again to see if it happens again but it hasn't happened yet.
i have a rooted flex 2 but i have made no system file changes because i use root for ad blocking app freezing and greenify only. no xposed installed either as i am afraid to install it.
I've had the G5 for a few weeks and I still have never been able to charge it past 1000 mA. With this phone, the speeds should be way past thay. Anyone know what the reason could be or solutions? I've tried the stock g5 charger and two other chargers I got from Amazon and still no change.
How long does it take to get from 1% to 100%? For the QC to kick in the screen must be turned off.
And did you tried a factory reset?

I noticed that after updating my G%, oneof my QuickCharge 3.0 chargers stopped working. I also noticed a warning. It seems that an update disables quick charging if it doesn't deen the cable good enough...
I use a benson approved usb c so i dont see what the problem is.
Yes you must have the correct charger and cable for quick charge to work
Try pulling out the battery and disconnecting it from the module. Reattach to the module and secure it firmly back in the phone. Sometimes there's a loose connection with the actual battery. Ive had an issue where the phone wouldn't quick charge two different times and this fixed it.
I thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone else has seen the issue. I am on my second s8 plus that has lost the ability to charge wirelessly. I am only using Samsung based chargers and have seen the issue from the 1 st gen slow charger to the latest that was released with the S8. The device was charging fine at first and then after a few days it stopped all together. I have tried all the known fixes including trying a shorter USB3 cable from the power brick to a hard reset of the device itself. All options for fast charging have been disabled and tested with no change in the wireless charge state. I even went as far as swapping out the new Sammy wireless fast charger I picked up at best buy to make sure there was not an issue with that. When placing the phone on a wireless charger there is no prompt to show connection or even the issue where the wireless charging would connect and then disconnect. It just will not charge on any wireless charger. Charging via USB port is not an issue. I was wondering if the latest update that fixed the red tint was the culprit but I did not allow my replacement device to update at first to test. Sure enough it started doing the same thing after a few days.
Has anyone else seen this? I am due to swap over to a third device tomorrow afternoon. The sprint techs I have been working with have sent the first device to one of the Samsung engineers they have been working with.
Thanks.
Mine did this after a few days. My fix was just to restart the phone. It seems after a few wireless pauses a safety feature keeps it from charging again

Does anyone have fast charging working on a Nougat version firmware, stock or otherwise?
I've seen lots of reports of people losing that ability once they moved on from MM. Couldn't find any reports to refute that. My hypothesis thus far is that LG dropped the ball with updating the fast charge detection capability when they updated the software version.
No fast charging issues on Nougat, specially stock and stock based roms.
There might be some issues on AOSP though.

What are you running now?
Trying to troubleshoot, so you are getting the fast charge notice on the lock screen and pulldown notification?
And what kind of cable and charger do you use?
Appreciate it!
I had a Nougat stock G5 which could not fast charge. Reverted to 10J and it works again.

Currently I am on the latest t-Mobile stock 20k with root. I have also tried other stock based roms like Fulmics in the past and didn't have fast charging problem.
The fast charging notification is shown on the lockscreen. I have a original LG charger plus couple of QC 2.0 chargers (Choetech and tronsmart) at work. They all do the fast charge just fine.

Interesting. My final troubleshooting point, are you using a normal USB-C cable, or a micro-USB to USB-C adapter?

Normal USB-C cable. I have my original from LG, I also got a few purchased from Choetech. They all work fine. Using an adapter is not recommended. USB-C cables come with a 56k registor for overcurrent protection, the adapter may not have that. Besides, an adapter would always add extra resistance to the circuit.

Thanks. I forget if I actually used my USB-C to test the Nougat version now, but that might have been a significant difference.
The newer adapters (not really that new since the big push was last year) do have that resistor built in now. I've done quite a bit of testing with the adapters and found that for QC2 and QC3, the amperage and voltage did not change at all and the charging times were identical. But I didn't have all the equipment to test it more thoroughly. And certainly, just because it 'works' doesn't mean it "works."
I did find that one of my adapters may have degraded and cannot reliably do USB data connections anymore, only charge. Time to move on to USB-C cables exclusively then!
As a 'final' update, I took another G5 I own and upgraded it from 10J to the 20A KDZ. This one fast charges fine with the adapter, no issues. So my working theory that it's the adapter is NOT correct. (Plus I was pretty sure I used a real USB-C cable to test it originally).
Not sure why my other one did not fast charge on Nougat. Probably/hopefully not a hardware issue, as it fast charges fine on MM 10J.

Did you ever figure out your other device? Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It will begin fast charging then switch off. After that I can unplug it and plug it back in to get fast charging to usually stay on.
It seems like a software issue to me...

I never got to the bottom of this. I returned the one that worked just fine as it was on T-Mobile Jump on Demand. I've kept the newer device on the MM revision and never had an issue with fast charge. I'd be really annoyed if I couldn't get fast charge working on Nougat reliably, but I've not been tempted to upgrade the software at this point.
In your case, it might be the chin piece USB connection that's breaking down. That's the only thing I can think of that would explain why it works only intermittently.
Same issue
I have the same issue after update to android 7.0 and after the update to android 8.0 any solution ? I have the latest update to oreo from T-mobile and fast charging not working for me just i have the notification that fast charge is working . i have the original lg adapter with usb-c cable .
There was no resolution or confirmation of this when I posted it originally. I do know I saw a lot of posts about fast charge not activating when moving from MM to Nougat. There was a report of it working again with the newest Oreo update.
Your post is confusing, you say you DO have the notification that fast charge is working? So what makes you think it is not working?

Yes i have the notification but Fast charge not working, generaly my batterie charge decrease 1%/1 minute , when it's powered off (my phone) i think it charge correctly. Now i have the latest update from T-mobile and the same issue
I'm not sure you are properly able to tell it is NOT working. It absolutely won't fast charge if the screen is on and you are watching it.
So measure the time it takes to go from whatever % you start off with to 100%, with the screen off. I have very detailed measurements of QC working that I can compare your data with.
When the screen is OFF or ON i have a discharge for exemple after 1min from 40% to 39% but when the phone is powered down i have a full charge after 75 min 80 min
1. Are you telling me that if the phone is on, and plugged in and supposed to be charging, the phone doesn't charge? And actually loses charge?
2. And if the phone is COMPLETELY turned off, the full charge takes 75-80 minutes?
Yes exactly i found the same issue in other forum
